I've been wanting to try this place for ages and it has not disappointed! The breakfast was delicious and the Christmas sandwich was amazing! Friendly staff, quirky interior, yet humble - Would highly recommend 👌
a.
Food great, music perfect, design of the space is brilliant
And by the looks of it the have a mini theater or live music.
Absolutely brilliant
10 out of 10
A. B.
The food was delicious but our food took a very long time to arrive
H. G.
A weird and wonderful place with chintzy charm and superb staff. They play great music night and day and are v patient with our little ones who are curious about every nicknack on display. Love this neighbourhood haunt.

Oh my, what a wonderful jewel this place is! Surounded by an eclectic mix of Toby jugs & books I ate the best eggs florentine I've had in years. Locally sourced the eggs yolks were both a deep yellow & bursting with flavour. Yum yum.
S. M.
A great local Hanover café/bar. Set in a old pub with eclectic decor that gives it a slightly ramshackled but homely feel. The staff are very friendly and the service is speedy. The menu is not massive but covers all the bases with good vegetarian options and large portions of cake! They have a couple of local draft beers and a good selection of bottled beer. It is busy at lunchtimes and can be hot in the summer.
S. S.
Hanover has a wide variety of pubs and bars and is a fantastic place to go out for a few beers. Village, with its cosy and welcoming environment, plus great staff, should definitely be on your list. It's one of the best in the area.
Z.
The veggie breakfast is the best in Brighton! Really nice friendly atmosphere too.
N. S.
Very nice local pub.
Could have more real ales, but that's just being picky
P. T.
We went for a Sunday Brunch. The interior is quirky but welcoming and cosy with a table leveled up with a couple of books, a couple of leather arm chairs, lots of fascinating old books and stuff.
The food was great. Book early as it can get busy.
B. N.
Nice pub with great atmosphere especially in the weekend, friendly staff, but the food can get a touch better. I've ordered Khrouf bel Barbokand I got literally 2 small pieces of meet in the dish, that was a bit disappointing
E. B.
Lovely staff and delicious food. 10/10 service , really friendly and the place has a great vibe!
E. M. L.
I love this pub. It's like sitting in your granny's living room. And the food is amazing.
P. v. B.
Lovely pub with friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. Came here for a brunch and would like to come again.
C. R.
Lovely setting, quirky decor and really reasonably priced drinks :)
L. D.
Fantastic community owned "public house".
Serves teas, coffee, beers (on tap & bottled), good selection of wines, spirits and soft drinks.
Some seating outside and wonderful decor and layout inside. Looks as if they can be s music venue.
Food served produced by "Blue Man" north African cuisine looks really good in both quality and value.
Clientele friendly and local, embodiment of the Hanover community that made area very popular in the 80's.
It's a very welcome throwback to those times.
Quite busy and popular most people having food when I visited.

Great whitebait thanks for lunch really nice proper coffee and really friendly atmosphere spot on

Amazing community owned pub. Staff went out of their way to make me a de-caff espresso martini - that’s a first!

R. W.
Love it here. Great food and cool vibes
R. R.
we arrived at the premises around 1pm. After no longer than 1 minute we were served with ease and kindness. I ordered a delicious looking break and my associate the same. A red headed girl serves us around 5 ft 7, she was very helpful and quick. The food was excellent as was the coffees. Would highly recommend to good friend, stranger or acquaintance.
M. L.
We had heard the Blue Man restaurant hadoved into the Kitchen so went over for the opening tonight. Our first time at The Village and wow. We felt like regulars within minutes. The staff were so friendly and felt genuinely happy to interact with you and serve. Food, fantastic. We're looking forward to returning with friends. Well played! 🤟🏻🎸
T. A. D.
What a surprise! Lovely , warm and welcoming. Smiles all round from the staff and interesting beers as well as a standard lager for those (like me) who have allergies to craft and real ales! Will be back to try the food which looked delicious! Proper find!
E. V.
Love the atmosphere here and the food is great.
S. B. S.
Delcious food; the brunches are so tasty and done very well don't feel greasy but healthy and deeply satisfying...top bloody Mary's
Blue moon food- incredible highly recommend.

Very nice food and a cosy atmosphere.
J. B.
Absolutely brilliant. Staff were so bloody friendly, the food was next level outstanding incredible cuisine! Great vibe great place and a great first date spot! Will be returning with immediate effect, top notch
E. H.
Great food staff ambience love this place!
P. H.
Super friendly staff, I was passing on my bike, got take out. The guys behind the bar took care to bag up my food so I didn’t drop it while riding.
Good food when I got it home too!
B. B.
Whatched the final in the Village great atmosphere (Result withstanding) and staff were very good at table service, my son recommends the food here as well, 15 min walk to the ses front from here 👍
N. Z.
When we walked in the door, the young man working as a host hustled over and sat us immediately. Our waitress was over in minutes and was very attentive and sweet. The food exceeded my expectations: fast, simple, and yummy! Great stop off if you’re headed to Barr Lake. :)
S. B.
I love this place. So warming in all senses of the word. Light and bright, spacious, cosy and mellow with nice music. I love the breakfasts which they serve till 4 p.m. and include good veggie options. The staff are friendly and eager to serve... I always leave soothed and uplifted.
H.
Amazing prices, amazing portions, amazing food. Best tagine I've had in a while. Could maybe have more variety on beers x
A. P.
What a great place to hang out
It's a bit like walking into one of those old fashioned shops and then sitting down in someone's front room. There was no beers on tap but a huge selection of different bottles and cans to choose from not to mention the wines and if your a bit peckish then try some fantastic huge home made overwhelming cake. Don't leave there without it ! A tearoom style pub , so nice and quiet to relax in.
Simply Magic, and that's the owner !
K. J.
Fabulous atmosphere with lovely mirrors and an eclectic mix of art.
2 for 7 burritos on Tuesday. One of the best food deals in the city.
Great Belgian beers at a good price for students and a reasonable one for everyone else.
K. C.
Love this place! Great atmosphere, friendly staff, fabulous live entertainment and delicious food. Lovely place to take the kids during the day for brunch or hot chocolates and cake. Relaxed and inviting atmosphere in the evening for sensational burritos and beer or just a catch up with friends.
B.
Best breakfast in the Hanover/ Lewis Road area. By a long shot. The service is lovely, the food is delicious (I strongly recommend the English breakfast, or if you want something slightly lighter, the eggs royal), there's a great drinks selection, and an all round welcoming community vibe.
Being able to get food delivered there in the evenings is also a lovely touch, it kinda feels like going round to a friend's cozy condo for takeaway. I've also seen groups playing board games at the table, only adding to this atmosphere.
I don't mean to be petit, but my one "complaint", would be that the pancake portion size is slightly smaller than other dishes, which led one of my friends to feel slightly left out when he compared his breakfast to the rest of ours'. Don't get me wrong though, the portion sizes aren't small, just slightly disproportionate.
G. T.
It's like a hybrid pub /coffee shop/living room. With some outdoor seating and friendly staff a great hub of the local area.
a. r.
Nicely decorated and friendly service. However, the food was pricey and small portions. Despite this, it was tasty and the atmosphere was very nice. Lots of books and board games!
S. H.
Great quirky friendly pub. Great decor
M. M. (.
Very chill and lovely space.
L. L.
Five star cafe (it serves one of Brighton’s better breakfasts); three star pub (two lagers and a local cask beer on gravity).
f. t.
Lovely place for coffee or beer or food , probably the best bar in Hanover definitely the best music!
b. f.
What a hidden gem when comes to Brighton pubs, though at first appearance you would have doubts about the bar/cafe from the outside and even the oldie world look on inside (if your more a fan of modern gastro pub or sports bar) the mix of food music and service more than makes up for it. And the staff as so mixed and varied both in age and chat, they make all ages and backgrounds feel so welcome hats of to your team Richard I enjoyed my visit and falling of dry January wagon with your team. Brendon
B. H.
Excellent (almost) French style cafe/ bar. Very pleasant/ cosy, with great staff. Discount for older! (Better still!). Occasional music nights. Well worth trying out.
G. S.
Great airBNB accommodation will definitely use again. Nice , warm , clean ! Nicely decorated for with antiques. Has plenty of toiletry and other supplies you might have forgotten to take. Great value for money

Came here Wednesday morning for a breakfast and glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, delicious! I had the Village Breakfast (I believe it was called?) with perfectly poached eggs, lovely bacon which tastes like it was smoked very recently and in small batches, pretty sure it was an oak smoke, and a small side of harissa compote which was bursting with flavour (I say small because you dont need more than a tbsp in the whole breakfast it was that intense). A few other items which really made the meal but didn't weigh me down for the day. Fantastic breakfast, I'll definitely be back when over that side of town again!
T. P.
One of my favourite places to go. Great atmosphere, superb food and friendly/helpful staff. You will love it too I'm sure.
D.
Staff are very nice and the place is very cozy. Very clean too. Used for a meeting and it was just perfect for a relaxed session. The hot chocolate is really lovely and the menu seems worth trying.
J. L.
Lovely to see they are open! We had some yummy bagels and tea, the staff are really nice!
B. L.
Lovely cosy atmosphere for some daytime tea or coffee, a brunch that is second to none and for the evenings a nice selection of beers, ales, wines and spirits to enjoy.
Friendly staff help make this an enjoyable place to spend an afternoon.
J. E.
A stunning, traditional glazed-tile old pub, and respect to Village for leaving it intact. The inerior is well done, but I found it a bit 'try-hard' at nothing in particular, and their cask ale was way past its best.
r. j. r.
Five stars for a delightful surprise. Very
friendly and extremely relaxed. Locally
sourced food, and delicious cakes. I had
a fresh mint tea. Great staff.
M.
Could (and have) spend hours in this place at a time because it's so cosy & welcoming. Good as a pub and as a cafe - wide selection of alcohol and great coffee & cake. Plus they recently started serving brunch, delicious.
J. A.
Nice environment to work during the day with cake & coffee or lunch. Tuesday's 2 tacos for the price of 1 is highly recommended. This is our second living room.
K. M.
Lovely menu, good service. Ramshackle cosy atmosphere. Great for breakfast with some different options like harissa paste on your breakfast or a goats cheese hash.
J. F.
Slim selection of beer, but is a comfy place. A communal pub which is more like having a pint in someone's front room than a traditional pub. Not necessarily a bad thing.
K. R.
I really liked the eclectic decor and music. Friendly staff & delicious tapas provided by the Blue Man pop up restaurant
A. C.
Great local pub. A real community asset. Great food/staff. Always has a good ale on.
D. J.
Great brunch reasonably priced beer, haven't tried the dinner menu but sounds promising. Great ambience as well
G. M.
Lovely evening at Village....the food was yummy and the service friendly. Loved the music selection which added to the friendly and sociable buzz.
P. G.
Since opening a little over a year ago This village has become a fixture of Hanover. Some how it manages to be a cafe and a pub, shifting seemlessly from one to the other. During the day it is frequented by people working, people meeting friends and does a range of snacks and beverages to keep them fed and watered. Early evening you see this group coexisting with the post work pub crowd, who take over as the evening progresses.
l. s.
a warm comfortable and friendly pub serving great fresh local food all day long at reasonable price, Highly recommended
F. D. L.
Amazing food, average price, cozy environment, lovely staff.

Great food, relaxed vibe, wifi. Beer, cake and a small but perfectly formed menu – Fab for breakfast and lunch. Hang out with friends or get a bit of work done. Nice 👍
R. C.
Amazing friendly b&b with a bar. It feels as if you're staying in someone's house and they just happen to have a restaurant and live music in their front room. Will definitely return
A. D.
