Came in as a table of 12 and not only were the staff attentive and friendly the food was fresh tasty and to very high standards. We have a couple of our party with Allergies and the Bar staff and Kitchen couldn't help enough to reassure us and deliver what we required safely- and My God it did not disappoint - strongly recommend booking for food and drink in this establishment.

We had booked a group of table a few weeks prior, this was so we could have a family birthday gathering. Unfortunately there was a mix up on the booking system and our booking was not visible in the new tool being used. However, the manager sorted us out with an area with some tables and all worked out really well. Food (pizzas, chips, nacho’s and sweet potato fries.) was fresh and hot and went down really well. Drinks and service were excellent. Big thank you to all on duty as it did get quite busy and they seemed to cope really well.

I’ve been coming to the Hollowtree for a while now and even though it took a dip in the friendly atmosphere for a few weeks the recent change has made the amazing atmosphere return, Kane and his staff are amazing, always welcoming and smiling.

The Hollow tree has plenty of parking available with outside and inside seating. Comprehensive menu which would marry up with Wetherspoons. Fair price for food and drink. Live sports available in the bar area. A wide range of drinks available the bar. Accessible, card and cash payments and offer vegetarian and vegan options.

Didn't like the fact we were disturbed on our table by a member of staff asking us to leave a review as management 'wanted us to'. This should be our choice. We ate our dinner and asked a couple of times for someone to clear the table but ended up doing it ourselves. Meal was lovely however cheese and biscuits had items missing from the plate which we had to get our money back for. Overall good service.

Standard chain pub really, good food at a good prices, definitely not award winning but a good place to go for a cheap meal or an afternoon pint, large interior dining/bar area and a good amount of tables outside, only one negative watch out for the brown wooden round tables outside as practically every table we tried the top wasn't secured to the base so your drinks and food could go everywhere, go for the newer rectangular composite tables much sturdier.

Not that special really. I think all places are struggling with staff shortages, but that being said, the southern fried chicken burger I had wasn't very good for the £11.00 charged and accompanied with a very small portion of chips. I would probably have got a better meal at the kebab van on the A38.

We visited as outside seating opened and the pub has good organisation. They are happy to do table service but we ordered online. The ordering system was very simple and food and drink came out quickly. Staff were friendly and helpful and the garden space was nice to sit in. The only downside was the offering of ale was lacking and the only one on offer was expensive. We expected better from a Marston's pub. The food and beer were tasty though and we will probably return.

Nice place. The nice girl explained all the social distancing measures at the door and how to order drinks and food. Showed us our table and explained for will be placed on the adjacent table for us to collect and dirty pots /glasses on the other table for them to take away. Very well thought out. Food was nice, good range of drinks. Wasn't busy at our time of visit (7pm Sunday) so relaxed atmosphere for us and the kids.

I have very specific dietary requirements, so it sometimes makes it difficult to dine out, but not at the Hollow Tree. They were so understanding and helpful and removed and substituted items I can’t eat. They were so friendly and helpful and didn’t make me feel like I was being fussy. The service there is very good. We had a really lovely time and I didn’t have to worry about the food. The social distancing measures were well explained and they’ve made a difficult situation very straightforward and easy. I would definitely go back again.

Well prepared for reopening with one way systems, sanitizer and screens for staff. The outdoor play park is open but the indoor one has been turned into dining for the time being. The menu is somewhat restricted but apparently this could be changing to a more varied one soon. The pub is rather quiet at the moment but they've made good provisions so they can open up so this should change soon

The place was fairly busy when we went in and there weren't enough staff but the girls behind the counter were doing an amazing job. The table we sat at wasnt clean and the menus were sticky and I know it as busy and as the girls were running around, I'm not blaming them. The food was good except for ordering a burger and having to self assemble your own burger. There weren't enough fries on the plate with the burger and the portion of coleslaw was laughable. Now the dessert was on another level of awesomeness...the sharing sundaes are huge and well worth it. Would visit again and hope that this visit was just a one off.

Great pub atmosphere, very friendly staff! Nice place to meat up with friends and family for a few drinks and a catchup! Food was a little bit of a let down.. I ordered rack of ribs with the added extras and they came only warm but I was too hungry to send them back, onion rings weren't far off burnt. Booked online for mothers day then read reviews and was a bit worried! Staff were friendly, food was tasty, had roast pork belly, all seven dishes came out quick and the place was clean and not massively busy! Only downside I noticed was the choice of different ciders on tap, which there were lots of, on the way out, I guess its my fault for not going to the bar sooner! Given 5 stars because it's exactly what it says it is, nothing more, nothing less.

Specials offers make this very good value, with £5 pizza Wednesday etc. Dogs welcome outside. You can book tables online.

We visited on valentine's Day and it was so lovely to see that the prices weren't hiked up because of it. Once again, the food, value for money and staff service have been amazing. We had the cheesy garlic pizza bread to start and it's plenty to share (see picture), only £3 and cracking! Our mains were Beer battered fish and chips and a lasagne; great portions and tasty too. They were on the 2 for £10 which runs Mon-Fri all day. So great, can't wait to go again.

This place has a great atmosphere and well priced drinks. The food here is also pretty good and is one of the better franchised pubs I've been to. They have this amazing dessert calzone, which I would recommend trying (it's definitely to share).

Very popular little pub and I understand why. It feels friendly and cosy and welcomes everyone. The only reason I have knocked a star off is that service can be a bit slow with not enough people manning the bar at peak times causing big queues. Had to wait 15 minutes the other day to get a drink with only about 6 people in front of me. Can also be hard to find a table sometimes with lots being reserved but no one actually sitting at them. Otherwise, love it! Good choice of drinks and pub grub!

The parking not bad as it's easy to park in the car park. ( You don't have to pay to park ) The staff are ok. As sometimes you have to search for the staff as sometimes there no-where to be seen. Very nice food served by friendly staff but if you just want to drink,service at the bar can often be slow especially on warm evenings and weekend nights, because at busy times, they regularly only have one person serving drinks while other staff all focus on table orders. Had Christmas dinner here, 1 potato, 4 slices of turkey breast, was way below standard,cheese and biscuits after was so small I had to put my glasses on the biscuits didn't break they bent. All in all for £42 it was very very overpriced, had better for £10. I didn't complain as I was with my family who I had not seen for many years. The dinner did not include a drink. Very disappointed.

Plus points.: Food is excellent and buy one get one free,staff are friendly and has some great regulars. Minus points.: Ceiling leaks when it's raining, low on staff so can be long waits at both the bar and for food, no real sheltered area for smoking. Final thoughts: If you live in the area then definitely take the time to visit, if you have to drive or get public transport then you might want to look elsewhere. I like it and that's what counts for me

I'm a vegan and they ran out of jackfruit so I was left eating a plain burger, they new there was no jackfruit beforehand but they still did not tell me till my food arrived. Although I was not pleased with that there were a lot of amazing deals on food and everyone else enjoyed theirs. A nice outdoor seating plan and park with an under 5 year olds playing area. They can deal with any allergies and dietary requirements for vegans and vegetarians.

Pros : Nice place to have a dinner and a beer, it is comfortable and your invoice will not reach the roof, food are good and affordable :) There is a playing area for children :) Cons : Staff is afraid of the customer, they are too much polite, you feel pity for them as I assume if they act like that it is because of Management pushing them to hard. So there is an odd atmosphere, when they serve you, you can notice they are tense, they might have goal to achieve but come one this is a restaurant people want to feel good and I do not appreciate when a waitress to rush. This is not good customer service, a waiter should have time to give a smile and make you feel at home, dishes are taken out as fast as they are serve, this is just to fast, slow down !! and I understand you guys like to say Sorry, but sorry 3 time in a sentence this is just not good lol this is not the kind of relation I am expecting with a waiter or waitress, you are not servant, you are people and you should try guys to create a link with customer if you want them to come back :) but once again Management are for sure guilty of the situation

I highly recommend the Hollowtree. It offers good value with 2-For-1 on main courses and the staff are very friendly. The freshly made pizzas are fantastic and there are loads of choices on the Specials Menu.....including my favourite, the Double Stack burger with bacon, lot of cheese & chips. If you are brave then you can pay £1.50 extra to upgrade it to a very impressive triple stack burger!!!!

Vegan Friendly'ish! family dinner at the Hollow Tree on Saturday as it was local and convenient. We didn't get off to a great start as I booked the table online then called to change the numbers on arrival they hadn't amended the booking but resolved the issue swiftly. The menu choices are excellent with a couple of vegan choices including a lovely indian pizza; so much more could be vegan bit for sole reason they chose to put dairy in the houmous. Delivery of our meal started as a real disaster totally uncoordinated however out waitress Princess did an excellent job of resolving the issue so all in all not too bad an evening. Heard some average things about this place before my visits which in my view are out dated since Marston's refurb the place. Nicely laid out area outside with mostly a booth type layout in doors with a more traditional table service which is nice & friendly and doesn’t break up the flow of banter, which is why you go to a place.

They seem to have stopped doing 2-For-1 deals so when me & a friend casually dropped in for a couple of well priced steak meals we found ourselves paying £10+ more than we expected, but the steak was good just think for the extra money we could have gone elsewhere.
