Reviews of Swan Inn Swineford
M. R.
We were on our way into Bath to get something to eat and went past The Swan Inn on route and decided to have a quick look and see if they had any tables! Thankfully they did! Pub has a great old school vibe about it which we love. Service was prompt and so was the food. On this occasion I had the chicken burger which was amazing and shared sides of cheesy garlic bread and Onion rings. All amazing! And dessert I had the mixed berry crumble which was so good! Overall we were very happy we stopped off here and will definitely be coming back. And on our way out noticed the pub had a large pub garden which would give fantastic views sitting out in the summer!
S. E.
Lovely Roast dinner…. we stopped in on the off chance for a bite to eat, charming little pub with friendly welcoming staff. One little issue but it was quickly rectified.
M. M.
Went on a Friday night for a meal and listen to a live band. (JPJ) Had a fantastic night, really nice atmosphere and really friendly staff. Food was excellent. Special shout out to the manager Jason who went above and beyond to make our night extra special. Thoroughly recommend it and can’t wait for the next opportunity to go again. Marcus and Rachael

Stunning location! We went on a quiet afternoon and had the outside space to ourselves. Had a drink and a little walk around the viaduct of which you have a fantastic view of from my the Swan inn. Friendly staff and lovely peaceful atmosphere! Hope to return for food next time!
J. S.
Lovely walk & roast dinner at the Swan last Sunday. Beef & Pork dinners were lovely & plenty of hot food. Atmosphere great & Manager was attentive with our drinks & food order. Will return again !!
T. L.
Lovely lovely pub and beer garden. The staff was very friendly and made you feel welcomed. I had a very delicious pork loin Sunday roast. There’s also a parking lot for customers.

Took our family, visiting us from abroad, for a get together meal, after a long covid break. We ordered our meals 3 of which were steak and ale pie. The meals arrived at the same time but were chicken & mushroom pie (my daughter being allergic to mushroom) so do we send it all back or carry on, either way it was ruined. Why give us a dish we didn't order?

This place has a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit here. Staff were very friendly and safety measure as being well executed.
Roast dinner was delicious! Brownie wasn't the gooeyest, but mixed with the ice cream was lovely. Portion sizes were huge too!
Definitely a place to visit.
R. S.
Food was nice, portion size was decent, staff very friendly and helpful. Felt that the price was a little high for the portions, but not unreasonable. Don't know if we would go back, would try again we were more local (i.e. if we lived in Swinford, or Kelston, for example)
B. A.
1st ever visit 5* is for the garden, the staff and The Swan itself nice place for a drink on a summer evening/day, went here for Sunday lunch and will not be going for lunch again sorry cannot comment on other lunch options very disappointing having followed other recommendations to go there.
J. H.
Family day out from Weymouth to celebrate our aunts 95th birthday.
We all had a really lovely lunch all 7 of us.
Polite and friendly staff. Weather vert wet and windy but didn't spoil my aunt's or our special day for her.🌹🎂🥂

On the Cask Marquee Ale trail and, as a result the ale should always be exemplary, but if this is your sole reason to visit, it's best not to show too soon after opening time - they take their time to draw off the overnight beer in the pipes.........and have no scruple in serving you some.
Otherwise it's a good place to visit and have an al-fresco meal when the weather is nice (remember nice weather?)
The food is good and also caters for most of those with finicky perceptions on what is good to eat.
There does seem to be a large turnover in staff though - it would be good to visit and greet someone I'd seen before.
b. c. (.
Food was excellent but they seem short on serving staff, quite a wait to get served, not their normal situation
M. P.
First visit to the Swan Inn and very impressed with the quality of they're meals and friendly service Highly recommended and we'll certainly be adding this to the list of regular places for our weekly date nights. 😎
M. H.
Sunday dinner was good. Menu is small but well done. Good setting.
M. E.
Cant fault the service or food and they were short staffed. Done an excellent job on outside catering and lovely to see people out !!!
E. B.
Amazing Sunday roast dinner. Absolutely delicious. Nice, well stocked bar area.
l. b.
Had Sunday lunch with family today and it was fantastic. Lovely atmosphere and would recommend the food, amazing.
M. T.
Lovely little Bath Ales pub. Welcoming atmosphere with a number of tucked away areas to sit. Service was efficient and friendly. The food we ordered was nice to look at and better to eat. I would return.
C. M.
Me & my wife decided to go out for a walk with our dog and a friends dog we were dogsitting, and have said before about going in to the Swan inn at Swineford for lunch which we did on this day, the food was fantastic and the staff were so pleasant couldn’t fault it highly recommend, Chris & Trace & the dogs Woody & Meg
T. N.
Very kind people, although very busy they allowed me to use the restroom, seems like a nice place to get lunch
M. T.
Lovely place great staff very friendly and a fantastic Sunday lunch if you haven’t been here your missing out 💯 will be back 👌
D. R.
Very friendly welcoming staff and dog friendly, the food was lovely too. Will definitely go there again :)
I. e.
After a friends recommendation we tried this pub , we went with my family for a celebration and the food was amazing and delicious , the jus was just mouthwatering stunning , the roast beef was rare to medium and very tasty. We bought the family dog that was greeted by the manager with a treat …. It’s a dog friendly pub to say the least!!
The desserts were just divine and to top it off the ice cream was stunning.
The whole experiences was delightful and the service on point …. Well done to the manager and his team .
We shall return.
K.
Lovely just to get out and have a drink... Just a tiny shame the wait for food was over an hour.. But totally understandable.. Well done Swan Inn staff
R. G.
Exactly what a country gastro-pub should be: classic dishes, taken up a notch and cooked perfectly with fresh ingredients. An excellent, long and slightly boozy lunch for our group of eight ramblers.
P. G.
A beautiful pub in the countryside. A very warm welcome from the manager Ian and staff very polite and helpful. Lovely selection of starter's with great main meals and fantastic desserts. A very relaxed place. Just loved the atmosphere. Well done must revisit soon.
S. S.
Really good service at a nice country pub. Proper pub food, simple and well prepared, with the right amount of beers on tap. Car park has 'compact' spaces so if it's busy there's likely to be on road parking nearby. Plenty of garden tables with food service, and a temporary covered area for dining also outside (June 2021). Steak pie and IPA hit the spot. The manager really knows the trade.
K. D.
The Swan Inn is a fantastic pub. It's in a brilliant location with lots of lovely walks nearby so dropping in for a drink and some food is a great way to round off a weekend walk. The food is absolutely delicious and all of the staff are friendly, welcoming and offer such an excellent level of service. The icing on the cake for us is that it's a dog friendly pub, the landlord can always be found with a bag of treats in his hand dishing them out to all of the canine visitors!
-.
Delicious topside of beef and brownie for dessert. A wholesome, local pub meal - can't be topped.
L. M.
Excellent Sunday lunch was spot on staff very friendly although a little slow or it would have been 5 stars 👌
e.
Fantastic experience!
I have booked a large table to celebrate my bday. The service was good considering all COVID restrictions and staff could not be more helpful. Special shout out to Jason the manager who looked after us!
The outside area is great and playground for kids came really handy.
Food and drinks were ok ( probably 4/5) but the actual space made it an excellent experience
F. L.
Brilliant visit today to the Swan Inn. Excellent service and the food was lovely. Really dog friendly too. The landlord was really helpful, attentive and friendly - pre-empting that we were of the generation less used to QR code’s he took our order for us and even brought a bowl of water for our elderly dog!
The rest of the staff were also really cheerful and efficient.
We would highly recommend this place.
A. W.
We had an amazing Sunday roast here last week and cannot fault a single part of our experience. The staff were lovely, the service quick and the food was amazing! A fantastic business which hasn't let Covid affect its quality of service. We will definitely be back!
I. B.
Good food, open fires, big garden. Nice little gastropub.
S. A.
Very contemporary interior .fusing old with country house new .Great food and good staff
P. B.
Super tasty roast. Excellent portions, wonderful service. Highly recommend this place.
C. M.
Decent Bath Ales pub with pleasant garden. Perfect drinks stop on Riverside walk.
R. J.
Beautiful Sunday roast. The beef was delicious, best we've had for years and worth the money.
Lovely friendly service from the waitress and great little kids play area. We'll be back often!
Thank you very much.
C.
Brilliant food, service and ambiance. I would highly recommend this pub as the best in the area.
C. a. M.
Great pub! Staff are lovely and coping well with the current restrictions in place. On a sunny day the outside seating area is fantastic with lots of seating options. The food is always good and being able to bring dogs is even better!
p. p.
Great location, but what made it was being served by Mim,what an asset to the business,so attentive and knowledgeable, thank you Mim
R. S.
Great Sunday roast. The team were extremely hospitable, looked after us very well and the food and drinks were the best we’ve had out in a pub in a while.
B. M.
Lovely country pub...great fresh food....friendly staff...
J. K.
I absolutely love this little pub. I've only recently discovered this gem as its not too local to me. The food is outstanding! The staff are lovely and attentive and even the people who visit are friendly (plus the adorable doggies) ! My partner and I visited recently, he had the steak and darkside pie and said it was the best pie he'd ever tasted! You can really tell the staff put a lot of heart into what they do, everything tastes home made which I really appreciate when I eat out for pub food.. As there's nothing more disappointing than blasted microwave meals. The only minor thing I would suggest is maybe a couple more vegetarian options for the main meals, but other than that, perfection. I will definitely be revisiting soon!
R. G.
Good food, good for kids with playground outside!
S. A.
Great pub, currently handling social distancing regulations very well by making full use of the outside bar and garden. There is a one way system to get to the toilets that is very well managed.
Food looked great and staff were very friendly.
P. R.
Very good food and friendly staff 👌
M. H.
We pre-booked as a large group. Food orders were taken in advance and delivered to the table soon after we arrived. Children had the option of having their mains delivered with the Adults starters, which was handy. The food was pretty good. Fish had possibly slightly too much batter but it was crispy. The chips were tasty but lacked crispness. Service was polite and efficient. Would definitely come back.
R. M.
Good range of food, tasty bar snacks and a good range of ales. Staff are friendly and helpful. Kitchen closed early though on this occasion as they had run out of Sunday roasts - so if you want to eat, may be worth ringing in advance.
M. P.
We had a nice 3 course meal. Good hot food. Friendly staff. Only very slight negative was that drinks orders were not taken in between courses, we had to ask on each occasion. No biggie! Will definitely return.
A. B.
Amazing food!!! Highly recommend a visit.
a. s.
My Wife and I returned to the Swan for a light lunch, can absolutely beautiful be enough to describe being back in in that garden again?! The Staff were as smart as always, the food? Take my honest word for it perfect. The fairly new Manager also greeted people's dogs on the same level as their owners adding to the magic. Will spread the word as before! Every success wished, Ferris. X.
T. H.
Fantastic food, had a fish finger door stopper sandwich and it was fab two big pieces of battered fish a great twist on a classic for £6.50 t is an informal pub set amongst a great country walking area. It also has an excellent wine choice & well behaved dogs welcome.
E. C.
Just met up with good friends after shielding for four months. It was so nice in the garden. Tables all clean and well separated. Ordered from the outdoor bar. All in all a very pleasant time and well worth a visit.
A. r.
The quality of the food is not great and thats a shame as it uses to be good years ago.
Pub itself is lovely so I will return but only for drinks
M. E. L.
Lovely food at a lovely pub. But the experience was slightly spoilt for me by the sight of the waitress' stomach complete with belly bottom piercing due to her t shirt being knotted!!
C. A.
Great outdoor, garden to have a drink in on a sunny day. Very friendly staff. We haven't tried the food yet but the menu looked good.
C. R.
Great menu, friendly service.
E. G.
Great 'Bath Ales' pub. Cosy pub with super beer and absolutely lovely food. I had pie, not a lie, took me back to childhood and grannies cooking. Properly superb!
Nice garden for the kids to play in also.
N. N.
Great Steak & Ale Pie, chips very big (and not very chip-like). Visit soured by unprofessional new manager who publicly belittled his staff.
T. P.
Sunday Lunch
The food was good and reasonably priced. The battered fish was light and fresh and the roasts looked good. Service was a little patchy but I think our waiter was just having a bad day/a bit inexperienced.
G. W.
Beautiful venue with a heated marquee ,absolutely suburb buffet. Attentive staff.
S. J.
Lovely place for a quick pint or for a well prepared meal, excellent facilities topped off with friendly staff. The drinks and meals are appropriately priced with a good selection to choose from. Definitely worth a visit.
D. C.
Had the most amazing christmas lunch here. Lovely warm country pub with great team of people. Can't wait for another sunday lunch. Definitely book ahead if you can. Good choice of drinks and plenty of parking. Fab for winter or summer
B.
Always a pleasure coming here and being greeting by the two very kind members of staff that work behind the bar.
I visit at least twice a month at lunch and always have such a stunning time and enjoy every bite of my gammon steak.
Becoming a habit now! But it's because of the staff that really mate this place so enjoyable to come back time and time again!
Keep up the good work guys n girls x
D. F.
Not sure what to expect after the pub was taken over by a different brewery, but nothing to be concerned about. Fantastic food, big portions, really friendly staff. Chalkboards for the kids to play with inside, a big climbing frame to play with outside, and chickens to be freaked out by.
Good beer, good food, good location, good prices too - £92 +tip for four adults (two courses and a drink each) and a couple of children.
M. E.
A great pub which is handily placed for some great countryside walks. I'm always pleased to find an excuse for a visit. Haven't eaten here for a while, but the ale is always in top condition.
S. W.
A very nice Bath Ales pub in the small village of Swineford, only 20 minutes drive from Bath. As it is a Bath Ales pub there is a great selection of beers and the food is great (and good sized portions) with a wide range on the menu plus specials. The kids menu is also very good, our boys love the fish and chips or macaroni cheese (with ham). In addition to the restaurant and bar areas there is also plenty of outdoor space with a good play area for kids (a large facility with climbing area, slide etc). There is good size car park and local walks cross through the area. Highly recommended.
B. H.
Absolutely fantastic Sunday lunch today 9/6/19. I have never had a lunch in a pub like that before, it was spot on! The service was good, nice friendly staff.i Highly recommend this place
P. A.
Owning a boutique bed and breakfast locally the swan always manages to squeeze my guests in even when full, it is one of my choice of pubs I recommend to guests as the food is always excellent and served with a smile . It’s a shame that people only seem to write on this forum to use as a stick to beat when they don’t get instant 100% satisfaction . Keep up the great work team swan , Your steak and ale pie along with sticky toff pud are my all time favourite . Britton’s farm 😊
D. H.
Great pub food and location
M. &. B. T.
We stayed at the Knights Folly Farm camp site just up the road and it was a lovely walk. Great food, great staff, good beer/wine and very accommodating. A bonus that they served Penderyn Welsh whiskey - a great end to a fab meal. Well worth a visit if you're in the vicinity.
k. p.
Lovely pub great food
A. B.
Brilliant food, friendly staff and a welcoming, family atmosphere! Will definitely be returning!
P. W.
Very much a locals place by the feel of it. Food was ok, nothing special but did the trick. Quaint little pub with a nice outside area. Nice start to our hotels and pubs tour of the south west. 😁
S. L.
Lovely country pub. We both had the home made Steak & Ale Pie with mash. I have to say it's one of the best pies I have ever had.
J. R.
Lovely food, attentive service, great surroundings xx
Definitely be back soon!
W. M.
The Swan is a really nice Bath Ales pub (usually Gem, Golden Hare and Spa on tap). Food is good, bar food to dinner. Why not go for a walk up behind the pub and end up back here for a pint or two. Nice big garden at back with kids play area. Parking good.
e. w.
Nice pub , friendly staff
R. S.
A very friendly pub with an outside play area. They've catered well during covid and the food is consistently decent here.
Small car park and layby outside.
S. C.
Roast was ok, poor yorkshire puddings! More like doughy cup cakes. Chicken portion very small. Nice pub, nice atmosphere.
L. H.
Lovely food, good wine, good lager and a good play park for the kids, all round 5 star pub 👌🏼
A.
Brilliant food, well presented. Good selection of bath ales here plus some other harder to find pints. Is a little costly, ideal for a nice night out.
S. W.
Drinks ok food over priced
s. b.
Bit of a mixed bag from my point of view the food wasn't over priced but wasn't enough to be feel a hundred percent satisfied. If I could eat a desert that would probably of done the trick but if your just going for a main not sure if its going to cover it you need an extra course, but the food is great so can only add to your visit.
I have food allergies and they took care of me really well I have to say I'd eat there again and I wouldn't worry for a second about cross contamination unlike eating other places where I hope I'm not going to come home and feel unwell.
Today was a great summers day and the kids were in the garden playing on the outdoor slide and monkey bars, one of the children who wasn't anyone in our group fell and hurt her hand quite badly wish they put a softer surface under the monkey bars as the grass is very hard.
Why not replace it with bark or something a little softer just in-case of a fall it's not nice seeing anyone hurt. I know the pub can't be held accountable for falls but anything to reduce the risk of injury can only be a good thing for everyone involved.
M. C.
This pub was HQ for a race over Kelston. Great staff very welcoming and helpful. Made tea coffee and bacon butties for after the race. Had lunch there and the menu nd food were great.
A. A.
Excellent food good service and lovely outside seating under cover
A. H.
Sunday lunch with booked table. Menu provided adequate choice. Food served in good time and portions were very satisfactory. Staff friendly and attentive. Value for money and would happily reivisit.
c. f.
excellent food but very pricey. Some sort of staff shortage had to wait 1 hour for our main course but they got more staff in and were very apologetic could have a bigger choice for vegetarians
M. B.
Nice pub, great setting. Service could've been quicker, given how quiet it was.
D. B.
I was one of the large party that was well looked after at the Swan this Sunday lunchtime (with babies & toddlers) As Kate suggested we were all treated very well, and the whole experience was enjoyable.
One downside was that I left a pair of Rayban Gent's Sunglasses on a table in the garden by the children's climbing frame, for about 10-15 minutes before I noticed them missing... no one had handed them in, but if some one knows of their whereabouts the staff at the Swan have my contact details. They are a treasured birthday present from my daughters.. so please hand them back to the pub if you picked them up inadvertently.
D. J.
Lovely food. Great place and great beer. Thank you. Can't wait for my next visit soon😉
J. E.
This is a very good pub and very covid-19 safe the food is very good and everything is well presented and tasty would recommend it

Always a friendly welcome and a good selection of beers. Food is worth a try too with a range of tempting dishes one the menu.
A. J.
Excellent food, freshly prepared and well presented. Staff are extremely helpful and always smiling. Great family garden also.
B. P.
We turned up late on a busy Friday evening, but the staff could not have been more helpful in sorting us out a table. The food and service were excellent. It's a shame we don't live nearer or we would be regulars!
C. H.
Went for Sunday roast, beef was amazing, however very dissapointed about the lack of veg and potatoes. Real shame. Also very bad smell from the toilets running through the restaurant.
U. T.
Service was slow seeing as it wasn't busy. Fish was overcooked and there were quite a few flies where we were sat. It's a lovely pub generally and I would see it as an off day.
J. L.
Always a good welcome at the Swan. Staff very friendly. Good beer
N.
Brilliant food and great service. On the higher-class end of the pub scale, but we received the expected quality of food for the money paid.
R. M.
Great pub, nice atmosphere, very friendly staff. Just too hot for us. Good looked great. Very friendly place.
I.
Lovely pub great location good food friendly staff
M. G.
Super meal last Thursday. All four of us had different choices and were very well presented. Staff are always very friendly and courteous.
A. G.
My favourite pub to take friends to. Kids love playing in the garden while we sit with a lovely ale. Food is great too!
P. T.
Gastro pub. Beer good service friendly. Food tasty. I only give 5 stars if there is a wow factor meaning.......I'm stingy with my stars 😆
S. D.
A really pleasant little pub that has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. The food is great and they have an excellent selection of drinks.
s. b.
Roaring fire on a cold wet day, fine food in our tummies, and a lovely pint: what's not to like. Well catered for a pleasant excursion.
t. P.
Great setting and food was OK. Slight issue with mains coming out before starters and slow service to clear table, other than that a lovely country pub.
I. C. U.
Nice pub with a friendly atmosphere. Log fire and very nice pub food. In the summer an outside eating area and kids climbing frame
B. H.
Great food.. great pub..great service...

Highly recommend! The Swan Inn is wonderful, absolutely lovely staff, a great selection of beers and ciders, excellent food (at very reasonable prices), and this is before we even consider the magnificent views, gorgeous decor, and fantastic outdoor play area...well worth a visit!!

Big thanks to the staff at The Swan.. We organised meeting old work colleagues with three toddlers and three babies.. The team reserved us a large area which was great.. We had a couple of last minute cancellations which was no hassle.. Sunday roasts were lovely and staff really attentive.. Outside space was great for the toddlers.. Will come again

Nice pub, good beer. Had fish and chips; fish was great, chips were basically potato wedges and weren't very good.
T. E.
Nice country pub, good selection at the bar, great garden, food a bit pricey but worth it.
J. M.
Great location and service, beautifully presented food, but you don't get much roast beef for your £12
J. W.
great food and the revamped garden and outside bar is spot on for summer. a walk along the river avon and then a pint in the swan is perfect!

J. G.
Good choice on menu, every one of which my family have chosen so far have been delicious, though we tend to have what we had before as it was so good!
D. F.
Good food but the carpet could do with a good clean, it's a bit smelly and spoils an otherwise great experience.
S. M.
Nice food, chickens and climbing frame in the beer garden to keep the children entertained. Possibly a little on the expensive side.
O. J.
Excellent roast.
Service and drink options could be improved slightly.
