Reviews of The Anchor

Recently under new management with a new chef. The food was excellent, reasonably priced, well presented and delicious. The batter on the fish and onion rings was crisp and not greasy.
Highly recommended
We will definitely be returning soon.

Even though the pub has changed hands many times, the tables are still sticky, the smoking area is just outside the back door so the smoke fills the dining area if someone is smoking outside, average food, it's a shame as nice sized pub with good garden, could do better

Really lovely pub, great atmosphere, friendly staff and lovely food at great prices. I'll certainly be going back again.

So great to see this local pub opening again. Lovely new manager giving great service. Very clean and well looked after pub with a good pint. The Nachos are tasty!

Good beer and a good buffet for the christening 'do' for our granddaughter. Bit of a shame that it has become more of a foodie pub and less of a locals pub, particularly the loss of the skittle alley though it does now provide a good function room. I particularly liked the availability of children's toys to keep the little ones happy and allow the parents a bit of us time

Table for 4 (1 adult, 2 teens and a toddler) Staff were lovely, food was very nice. But.... Pre-booked the table and waited 1 hour 15 mins for food to arrive to the table. Literally, we were the last table to be served food for the evenings sitting. In fact we were just about to leave and get a Maccy d instead, when it arrived to us. There were 2 extra drinks on our tab, that wasn't mine (rectified). Unfortunately I won't be going to the Anchor again due to this evenings experience.

Under the new ownership this place really has changed.
Great service, amazing plate of food.
Highly recommended and I will be returning.

Over all the food was lovely, good choice and reasonably priced. There was plenty of space even with a large party.
The only downside was the waitress wasn't over friendly and a little slow with service and didn't even bother to get a wet cloth after spilling beer down one of our coats!
This wouldn't however put us off going back, if in the area again.

Good atmosphere. Great food and drink. The staff are really nice and helpful and they didn't mind me bringing my dog or pointing out those phone number doesn't work.

A really welcoming atmosphere, especially after a walk from Bristol. We thought we had reached the promised land. Unfortunately the wait was almost as long as our walk from Bristol (12km). Some of our party were so famished that they began eating the sauces. Food fantastic when it finally arrived!

Staff friendly, but food was presented poorly. My wife had the vegaterien pie. A pastry pie on a bed of mashed potatoe. Too much carb. The pie contents not unpleasant just tasteless. We also had the vegan pie, which was tasty but massive. Cod and steak were our other orders, they were ok. Slightly noisy but it is a pub.

Straightforward 'pub' menu, but very well cooked, really nice fresh ingredients, tasty beefburgers and real fresh, flavourful salad. Sensible prices and friendly staff. Recommended.

Polite staff, modern pub interior and a quiet setting. Food is quality over quantity and keeps to being reasonable value. Plenty of parking at the back. A visit and a meal is worthwhile.

The best pub in the area by far. Excellent food, very friendly staff, clean lines so a nice pint, all round good pub well worth a visit.
