Reviews of The Brassmill
S. E.
We had a nice Sunday roast. Good portion serve by a friendly staff. It's nicely decorated Brass Mill with beautiful outdoor seating in summer. We even spotted stork fishing. We would definitely like to come back for dinner in the future.
S. H.
Have come here many times with family and friends. Its our go to if we want a comfortable and quiet setting. Atmosphere lovely, toilets super clean and food is stunning.
We've sampled quite a bit of their menu, which I can sum up taste wise as, rich and welcoming flavours.
Staff are lovely and have always been accommodating even when we haven't booked.
H. H.
Really lovely, dog friendly pub. The staff were really friendly and the food was good. Beautifully decorated inside. Really pleased we happened to be in the area and had lunch here, great experience.
A. S.
Vintage Inns are a firm favourite and the Brassmill is no exception. Family and dog friendly with a decent sized carpark and great Sunday roasts. You can’t go wrong here.
M. H.
First visit to Brassmills today, the pub is beautiful on the outside and in, very traditional looking. Two menus to choose from, we went for the Xmas one and it didn't disappoint. The pub inside was dressed for Xmas as well and it felt so cosy with the nice open fire. 🔥
The most moist turkey dinner I've had, all the trimmings which made you so full at the end, which is pub grub goals. Nice staff, very attentive on getting us drinks. I highly recommend this place!
M. S.
We were guests for a birthday celebration. Warmly welcomed by friendly staff and shown straightaway to our table. We asked for a slight rejig to the tables which was sorted immediately. Once we all arrived drink order was taken and meals ordered. Speaking for myself the olives were really nice with a full-on garlic oil dressing: fabulous. My main was fish and chips. Batter was a little soft but otherwise plentiful. I thought it a bit over priced at £15.95. A really great idea is a small pudding and coffee for £5.95 which was plenty for me. One of our party was vegan and received a small piece of meat in her salad. When she pointed this out it was changed courteously and immediately. The atmosphere was pleasant and comfortable. I would pay a return visit.
R. M.
Very friendly staff, fantastic menu, good portion size and lovely pub. We will 100% be back. Great first time experience. :-)
I. T.
Very tasty food, friendly service and a family friendly environment. Would recommend 👌🏼
I. P.
Lovely and Cozy place for Sunday roast. Food is very generous and you can have Gravy as much as you want it's perfect for me.
S. R.
Cant fault the quality of the food here definitely will be coming back. Everything was cooked to perfection
A. G.
Reasonable range of beers, the sandwiches were of excellent quality and very reasonably priced compared to nearby options.
Very good staff who I hope are appreciated for the value they add to this pub.
All round this pub has it all and is much better than other pubs I have visited in this chain.
K. F.
Met friends for Christmas meal. Good sized portions, good service. Only downside was the room temperature, some people weren't warm but they did have extra heaters around the room.
But the company and food made up for it.
K. H.
Didn't have table reserved for Sunday lunch but amazed to get one in the bar area. Lovely lunch. A bit pricey but worth the extra pennies. Staff very pleasant and friendly.
J. B.
Lovely welcome from our waitress and her colleague. Both had a great sense of humour and made it a special occasion rather than just lunch out. Penang curry was very tasty and I pinched one of my husbands chips which was delicious.
J. G.
An enjoyable evening experience celebrating my birthday with friends. Our food was lovely and our young lady who served us was very professional and polite to us all. I will Definitely be going back again soon.
D. J.
Had the pork belly Sunday roast, was good quality except for the crackling, which was chewy. Staff were attentive and friendly. Would go back to try some of their other dishes definitely.
A. T.
Very nice restaurant. Clean and spacious. Plenty of car parking but make sure you log your car on the entry otherwise you'll get some horrible parking firm after you! Food good, generous portions. Prices acceptable considering the decor, food. Staff very pleasant.
K. a.
the ambience, service and food were all excellent. Our waitress, in fact all the staff we interacted with were lovely. I would have awarded a 10 BUT it was freezing in there i ate with my coat on!
A. P.
I had the Sea Bass which was lovely. My wife chose the vegetable curry which was clearly a reheated or microwave dish as the temperature was 'variable' through the dish! Lovely place though with efficient and friendly staff.
L. C.
We were starving and googled the closed pace to us...luckly this place came up. Great portion sides, tasty food, lovely environment and amazing staff. Will definitely be coming back.
A. J.
Lovely food. But disappointed yesterday as I had asked for a well done steak and it was raw all the way through the middle I didn't complain as I could see how busy it was it put me off enjoying a lovely ribeye steak
c. b.
Tbh I walked in and thought this is nice ,,
And it was ..but
When I saw how much stuff was ,I thought ouch..
But the staff was great the food was fantastic, and they looked after me ,with my don't likes...
It was our anniversary so I said sod it ...
Sadly I couldn't warrant costs regularly which is a shame as I enjoyed my breakfast so much..
I would recommend trying them out ,if just the once..
N. M.
Place is clean and tidy , staff are polite and the food over all is 10/10 . On arrival we had to put our car reg in so we didn't get a parking ticket but it's a 2 second job
L. G.
Food was great, really enjoyed it. Service was brilliant
Remove the service charge. Should be down to the individual if they want to leave a tip
B. T.
Had lunch at the Brassmill today to celebrate our Anniversary.
The place is lovely, our waitress was lovely and the meal was absolutely superb. Looking forward to visiting again soon.
s. r.
Great service, lovely food & pleasant surroundings
Unfortunately, slightly draughty at the table we were situated at (close to the restaurant toilets) - a couple of us were unable to remove our coats during our visit
M. P.
The food was good, the staff were polite and friendly,a nice cosy place to eat & drink
T. S.
Very good service. Good menu choices. Not overly expensive. Clean and comfortable.
J. B.
Fantastic food and good selection of beers and drinks. The serving staff were excellent too.
J. F.
We had a great meal here we didn't rate the starters that high but the mains and dessert were lovely 😍
A. G.
Friendly, efficient even with the staff shortage you have currently. Only complain was the vegetable were too hard. I had a chicken pie with carrots and broccoli.
R. R.
Really nice place,
Good food,
But came here for a roast dinner, ordered a trio and got enough food to make half a sandwich, they also give you gravy that would not fill a thimble.
I don't really do gravy but it took 3 top ups to have enough gravy.
Nice decor, nice staff, although, the personal sec life chit chat at the bar could be a little quiter.
A. D.
Great service and good food. Although the food did lack some flavour
S. A.
Great place for food and drinks, friendly welcome, food served promptly, thoroughly enjoy going here
A.
Excellent place. Been visiting here quite often and it was actually six months before I found their 'secret beer garden' 😂 **edit, secret beer garden nonlonger exists** Its just an extra Garden you access through the Pub as opposed to the patio by main entrance that not many people know about. Trees are qyite big back there though so not great for Sun chasing. Also, there's a beautiful Weir next to the Car park which is worth a look (don't take your beer with you or you'll get told off lol) Food is very nice, but it's been the same Menu for a while now so an update on it would be most welcome.
L. H.
We felt a little more rushed than other visits. We asked for extra gravy but was only given the normal amount.
We didn't get asked about coffee. We were just given the bill. As it seemed busy we paid and left.
This meant that I missed my loyalty stamp..
Shame as normally it's a lovely meal but this time it just felt rushed.
K. D.
Your chef should learn how to cook a rib eye steak medium. the one i got was well past well done eben being crispy on the edges. sent it back as inedible. to their credit i was not charged for it
J. S.
Exceptional service, food, atmosphere and cleanliness. Thank you for such an enjoyable time today. Myself and my parents look forward to coming back again soon 😊
F. O.
Lovely staff, beautiful food and puddings. Good following of social distancing! Perfect spot for first meal in months.
T. C.
Great place to eat, may need to book as gets busy, we were asked if it was ok to go into the casual eating area and the food was incredible. Highly recommended
A. B.
We had a party of 11 and the service was excellent - no delays. All enjoyed the food and drink and look forward to our next visit
G. L.
Good food, good service but I give them this mark of 3 because we were a party of eight they were unwilling to put two tables together in an empty restaurant!!!
W. G.
Lovely place with a good menu and staff were great and helpful.
A. L.
Your pub and team were perfect, having the dog with me was fine and being able to order from the table was fantastic
M. P.
Gone too up market, expensive, not much variety on menu. Good was great tasting and plenty of it but won't be returning
N. B.
Good selection of food and drink. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff
C. J.
All guests thoroughly enjoyed their meals and loved the atmosphere and complimentary prosecco for my 70th birthday
G. S.
Nice outdoor seating area (did not sample indoors).
Staff friendly and efficient.
T. S.
Not so good today. Food cold, missing ingredient and tipping some gravy over the seat next to my wife.
After sending the food back, which then gets microwaved, it came back hot.
The amount was very good and if all had been well, I'd say it was good value.
There were a few things that had run out and we only got there at 18.00, so any later and there would've been even less on the menu.
The staff were good as well and it's a shame it was spoilt by a few issues at the start.
I gave three stars due to the service as the staff were good and they were doing their best.
S. C.
Lovely food and Chrissie ,our waitress was very attentive.
S. T.
Scallops and Prawn starter - 1 and a half scallops.
It was good sized portions, for mains.
We had Sunday roasts, the turkey was nice, beef was overcooked and the veg and trimmings were okay, but nothing special. Service, again was okay, but not particularly friendly. I don't believe it was great value for the money overall.
L. M.
Lovely environment, great food, nice clean place, nice staff.
R. T.
Waitress was lovely and friendly.
Food came out quickly and at a good quality.
Enjoyed our visit.
G. G.
Love this place, came for a romantic meal with my then new girlfriend a couple of years back and returned this week to be shown back to our old table. 😲
Sadly we were a little disappointed by the steak that was a little over cooked and quite fatty and the fried onion rings looked like they'd been shown a picture of a deep fat fryer in a catalogue rather than actually experiencing one.
A beautiful pub sadly let down that night by some minor faults.
May go back soon to find out if it was a one off bad night
k. b.
Went to the Brassmills for a birthday meal with my partner and parents. The service was excellent and waiting staff very attentive. My partner asked for an extra with their main meal and arrived without. This was spotted by the waiting staff before he put down the down, he apologised and returned promptly to the kitchen to resolve.
Great menu with choices available to suit most palettes (food and drink). The quality of food is excellent and beautifully presented. Reasonably priced and excellent service all in a beautifully decorated, clean pub.
M. C.
Beautiful pub lovely roast and fantastic Christmas decorations. Great service from all the staff as well.
N. J.
Very good. Friendly warm atmosphere.. Good choice of menu
G. S.
Excellent venue nice quite location friendly staff good choice of menu and food well presented and tasty...... very easy access for wheelchair with disabled toilets all clean tidy and fresh
M.
Had a 18th birthday meal for 8 of us. From the moment we arrived we was well looked after by kirstie. Food was spot on so well done to all involved for making our visit enjoyable will definitely be coming back. Thanks
L. F.
We've been here a few times now in the past few months, always had lovely food and good service
S. A.
Nice place food ok but the staff kept bothering us asking every couple of minutes ready for drinks order,? ready for food order? every thing ok with your meal? can I get you anything else,? ready for dessert? fgs I just want to catch up with my friend not be rushed out the door we would have had a more relaxing time in KFC
And to top it all everything she brought to table cutlery she dropped, condiment she dropped, onion rings she dropped, 🤦♀️😓
M. W.
Food was nice but due to shortage of staff they were turning people away.
R. T.
Staff were very polite and friendly. Food was really nice. Dog friendly as well.
r. s.
Lovely well cooked well presented food, no sign of being hurried to leave the table.
M. R.
Very pleasant, clean surroundings with a country feel. Very helpful friendly staff with an easy to read menu . Service was very good and food piping hot. Was quiet while we were there so would recommend booking , and download the app . Just makes things a bit easier as you can do everything from there .
C. R.
This was the first time here after being turned away from the lock keeper. The atmosphere was great. The lady looking after us was great. Food was full hot. Fresh and full of flavour. This is now our place of choice when the group meet up.
I. T.
Food was good. Choice on the menu could have been a bit more varied. Lovely pub inside.
Lots of staff just a bit of a shame most of them wandered around doing nothing. To be fair I think they were in training but still spoiled the meal a little (hence the loss of a star)
S. P.
Excellent service and food. Very popular for their Sunday roasts.
s. o.
Staff and food are always perfect. Can’t recall her name but lovely young waitress
M. W.
Good quality reasonably priced food with good service
S. W.
Went this evening for parents anniversary meal and we haven’t been for a while. Service was good, lovely chap who was polite and attentive. Quick food as we had an early booking and very nice meals and desserts. Would recommend !
G. M.
Starters and Mains at Vintage Inns, Brassmill, Keynsham. Smooth process to book, enter and dine, even with the Covid restrictions. Food and service excellent. Highly recommend
M. P.
Great food. Lovely atmosphere
I. Y.
Good service, plentiful and tasty food, family and dog friendly.
p. e.
Disappointed in the reception welcome staff behind bar not very happy, but our table server was very professional and polite
S. H.
Excellent food and service but rather pricey.
C. H.
Pleasant surroundings and good food. An evening well spent.
L. R.
Excellent customer service and quality food at a reasonable price
B. R.
By far the best Vintage Inn in the area. We visit regularly and can't complain about the restaurant itself or the selection if food and drink. The food just seems to get better every time we visit and the staff are always very friendly. Highly recommended.
r. w.
Excellent staff service,Food good but not exceptional. Great location
M. W.
All very good
Nothing immediately springs to mind where improvements need to be made
Other than the Coffee was very weak and lacking taste
R. H.
Pleasant atmosphere and tasty food. Nice outside space with tables and umbrellas.
D. M.
Very friendly staff food good and service good .
C. W.
Very good food and service. Lovely atmosphere and ambiance. Not cheap but not too dear. Cheerful service. Register with Vintage Inns to get one free pudding with every main course. But only one pudding per group.
C. G.
We went with friends for Sunday lunch and were put in the large room with 2 other big parties so it was quite noisy, until people started eating when it quietened down a bit! Our food was okay but not very hot. One in our party asked for it to be put in the microwave. I don't know if there were just too many people for them to cope or what.
s.
In the last couple of years this place is back to its best the service is decent and the chef really does care about the quality of the food! also good value for money. Highly recommend
P. T.
Food good but service let it down. Understand that staffing in Civil times can be an issue and ordering on apps is more the norm nowadays however cutlery is still required. Not limited to this establishment but basics...bring cutlery and then the food. Cold 'hot' food is not so appealing and if simply forgotten to bring earlier an apology and movement slightly quicker than a slug is always appreciated. Shame really.
M. U.
Great food and great staff x will definitely be back x
C. R.
We absolutely love the fish, chips and mushy peas here. The fish is chunky with a light crisp batter, proper mushy peas, triple cooked chips, lemon and tartar sauce. Taking advantage of the government half price offer I thought I would try something different. I opted for the fishcakes with lobster and cream cheese served with new potatoes, asparagus and a poached egg. Actually cheaper than the fish and chips. It was delicious. The fish cakes had a lovely crunchy coating. We just had soft drinks as driving and it would be good if they included these on the drinks menu as you are served at the table and can't look behind the bar you are relying on the waitress to remember them all and recite them to you. They have a good and varied selection. Social distancing between tables was good and the pub was very clean. Staff were not wearing masks. Service was very efficient and the bill was £15 rather than £30 so we thought it fair to tip 10% of what it would have cost.
K. S.
Good menu choiceand value for money.
a. s.
Very attentive staff not going over the top with the covid excuses. Excellent menu, with our meals being "top notch!" A nice variety of drinks to compliment, do go there you won't be disappointed! Top marks.
L. W.
Nice food, nice decor. Cosy and welcoming. The food was good - I had slow cooked beef which was lovely!
Glad I shared a dessert as it was huge. Really lovely chocolate brownie with ice cream!
S. T.
Really lovely english pub, good food great location
h. c.
My mum and dad were regulars here back in the mid '90s and I recently tried it for myself - have been there three times. Very friendly and has a lovely country feel to it. Yesterday I had the best sticky toffee pudding there I have ever tasted! They have outside seating overlooking the river. It's a lovely, peaceful spot. It would be great if they started doing Bed and Breakfast!
J. W.
Father's day had a set menu. I booked online and only saw the normal menu. 3 courses for 22.95. Unfortunately not everything on the menu was available. Husband wanted sirloin steak bit had to settle for fish and chips. No chocolate puddings available so very disappointing. Everything on the plate was cooked to perfection but fish and chips really not a substitute for steak. Also a very long weight between courses. So 3 people 2 drinks each no change from £100.
b. g.
Always have lovely food and great customer service
D. S.
Just had a meal in the Brassmill with my hubby and my son, what a lovely relaxed atmosphere with ofcourse beautiful food! And the lady who served us was so nice! Made us feel very welcome and was very friendly. Thankyou guys will definitely be back. :-)
I. S.
My friend chose this place for a birthday celebration dinner. Although we could've been offered a better table set up for a party of 10, even in the current circumstances, we made the best of the situation. One person also had an accident, but the manager was on it immediately.
Most of the food was absolutely delicious!! Between us we had the pate, king prawns, calamari and soup for starters, all of which were very tasty.
For mains the best one was the belly pork. Cooked to perfection with the best cracklings!!! The Hunter's chicken was equally delicious, and the others enjoyed their steak and burger. The only meal that was below par was the fish fillet, which was overcooked.
The drinks service was very efficient throughout. I'd be happy to visit this place again for food.
C. B.
Lovely spacious pub, and dog freindly. Somewhat disappointing that they can't do a small size roast "because it's a vegetarian one" seems a of a lame excuse if not discriminatory! 😂
n. b.
What a great setting. Staff very friendly and efficient. Food was of a very good quality. Shall certainly go back again.
P. H.
Very busy pub. Good food and beer. Beware you have to register your parked car at a console in the foyet. This prevents non customers using the car park
a. g.
We went for a Sunday roast. Last order. we were lucky. No so much when food came. Nice presentation but food was cold and poor quality meat for the money we paid. Lovely service
P. H.
Lovely clean pub. Starter was a bit small and the dessert was forgotten by the staff apart from that a decent meal.
m. S.
Food was great (even if did take a bit longer than anticipated) staff were lovely
R. D.
Staff very friendly disappointed with fish cakes being overcooked poached eggs being hard. Unfortunately we had it twice. It was pointed out to the waitress but unfortunately she just replied I wouldn't be happy either and that's as for as the complaint went
c. p.
They have made every effort to make sure all is safe, good food lovely atmosphere.
Staff very friendly and helpful
J. M.
The staff were attentive and the restaurant felt covid safe. The meal was ok, not as nice as last time we went so was quite disappointed. Didnt have two of the main courses and one dessert that we ordered. Portion sizes were small for the price.
D. K.
Absolutely fantastic, service, food and drink, plus the atmosphere was spot on. Ideal for a family celebration, or a cozy night out for two. Roast dinner on Sunday is excellent, but if you fancy something else then they cater for everyone. I will be making this a regular family go to get together place. Some staff have many years of experience in the catering trade and this shows in the training and standard of younger staff. Well worth a five star rating. Thanks
j. h.
We felt safe, welcome and very much socially distanced. The tables are very well spread and cleaning is thorough. The staff as always are polite, helpful and good humoured. We always enjoy our meals here
G. B.
Nice atmosphere and reasonable food. There was quiet music in the background at a level where you could easily hold a conversation - a real blessing. The menu was typical pub fare but the dishes we ordered were well presented and tasted good. The prices and portion sizes were also reasonable. We'll definitely go back.
R. M.
Had a quick drink in the outdoor space next to the mill pond. The building has a traditional feel, with plenty of dark wood and friendly staff. I would have like the chance to stay longer.
V. C.
We had a great time in the pub. Staff is super friendly and the place is very lovely. Food is wonderful.
S. B.
Our family has eaten at the Brassmill two or three times a year for nearly 30 years. In 2017 we celebrated our Silver Wedding Anniversary there. We love it there and have never had anything to complain about. Thoroughly recommended. Very friendly and inviting staff and atmosphere. Food just great!
C. G.
It was a very nice place to have a meal and drink. Also, it's right on the river side, which is nice. I would recommend the Brassmill for families based on my time there.
N. D.
A lovely turkey roast dinner and wine followed by pudding. The staff were attentive, happy to recommend.
B. G.
Excellent food and service would of give 5 stars but when using the convinces I went to wash my hands there was simply no hot water dispute holding down the hot water button on the tap for several minutes surely this food premises should make sure hot water is available
A. E.
Really good food. Fully recomend it.
J. R.
Nice location but some areas inside were a bit clinical. The food was good though and portion sizes were nice and not obscene. In terms of costs , we were a party of 6, we had 2 courses and LOADS of drinks. Our bill was £168.00...more than fair. Would definitely eat there again.
E. W.
A lovely atmosphere and cosy feel while spaced out for social distancing. I felt very safe and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The menu was limited for vegetarian/vegan options but the food I had was nice.
L. P.
Had a really nice meal tonight with family for my 50th birthday. The food was good and the staff were great. We will be going again.
K. G.
Food great cosy pub
J. H.
Brilliant dinner at the Brassmill great food great and staff.I had duck pate then turkey dinner and rhubarb pudding and great custard thank to Emma she was lovely cheerful. My partner had prawns cocktail and lamb duo and Christmas pudding we had a capaccino coffee was great thank you to all staff who gave up Boxing Day to serve us
M. M.
Went there with family for Sunday roast. I had Not been in there for 15 years and was really pleased that it has changed lots for the better. Food was excellent well cooked and good size for price. Staff were great and attentive. Well set out and decorated. Good atmosphere and clean. Would go back again.
M. P. (. a.
Turned up for Sunday lunch. With friends and two labs. Readily and happily accommodated. Very good and friendly staff who clearly liked dogs and fussed them but not overly so.
We were all made welcome. Sunday lunch it's self was only, I'm sorry to say, average in presentation, taste and value, but as good as many a busy pub. There are many places that give better value however, like the pheasant at Chippenham. But mostly they don't allow dogs! Al a cart meals here are generally very good though.
D. P.
Usually excellent value for money and good service. Chap behind the bar was very friendly and helpful, as for the waiting staff not their fault but not enough of them. Don't know if someone off sick or if they try to manage with the least possible cover, we were left with dirty plates in front of us for over 25 minutes. Only cleared when our dessert arrived which we had to get up and order at the bar ourselves. Don't be put off but this time we were disappointed
S. P.
Good food, nice selection of drinks and great service. First time I've been since before covid and nice to see its maintained its standards.
S. M.
The waitress was polite and friendly, service was good ,the food was very enjoyable, presented well, good quality food, enjoyed every bit of it. Definitely going back again.
L. S.
Lovely food and friendly staff
R. A.
We went here on 30th September for my daughters birthday haven’t been for a few years but it was lovey it’s very nicely decorated and the food was absolutely lovely and our waitress was very nice too
D. H.
What a great place! Really good value for money. Staff were lovely, atmosphere was great, and the Sunday roast was 10/10 - honestly, don't change a thing! Pork belly and parsnips were next level. If you keep things exactly as they are in terms of price, service and quality of the food, you're on to a winner.
d. d.
Very impressed with the food and lovely waitress service will be going again recommend it to everyone to go there
J. P.
Nice pub, decent beer, good food, feels like there's lots of space even when quite busy.
J. W.
I had the pork belly very tasty but the size of the portion was very small only 3 slices of potatoe gratin and could of done with a few vegetables
G. S.
The Brass Mill, as it says nestling beside the river is an old Brass mill, you can still see some of the buildings old features and has sympatheticly be converted to a really nice restaurant. There is plenty of room between tables so you don't feel jammed in, you are greeted by friendly staff and quickly shown to your table, but don't forget to log in your car registration number, as with the railway station and main town just up the road, they suffer with unwanted parking. But once logged in yours is free. Now the food, you will be assured of a really good meal, portions are adequate and not to much, but it's all about the flavours and you won't be disappointed. Presented well, not long to wait and served with a smile they are to be applauded. Eat at the Brass Mill and your in for a treat from an excellent chef. Go on try it. My mouth is watering now just remembering my last meal.
H. P.
Good food, great staff, Ian and Adam always remember us and have a quick chat. Love that the menu changes fairly regularly as well.
This pub also has a fantastic area for seating by the river at the front of the pub, and a gorgeous secret garden at the back. Definitely worth a visit!
C. D.
Food was fantastic, I order the beef and mushroom pie, my partner had a lamb roast. Both were delicious! The weather was Beautiful so we ate outside in the peaceful garden. The staff were friendly and the puddings are recommended!
D.
Food is good, service was good. Would go again. Solid pub food.
J. P.
Good service, friendly staff, lovely food. Very comfortable surroundings nice and warm. Very enjoyable evening
A. C.
lovely service and very good foods
k. h.
The staff were lovely, but the food was very average for the price.

I love the Brassmill. The food is excellent. The staff are lovely. The surroundings are clean, well presented and the decor has been well thought out. The toilets are clean. The food is reasonably priced. There are different areas to sit, eat or drink. It's comfortable. A lovely place to enjoy with friends, family or by yourself.
C. P.
Lovely cocktails, protagonist wine and excellent food.
D. C.
Food was amazing!!! The sea bass was incredible, as was the rest of the meal. Our waitress Debbie D was great, really helpful and attentive. Will definitely be back!!

Excellent service, food extremely good, and dog friendly too. Will be going again soon and recommending to everyone.
C. O.
Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff and the food is tasty.
P. F.
This is a very lovely pub. Food top notch and staff really friendly and welcoming. Went here for a Sunday roast and it exceeded my expectations. Beautifully cooked beef with luscious roast potatoes. Will be definitely coming back soon. 👍
A. T.
Pretty good roast, not the best but didn't leave dissatisfied. Good staff, super quick service. Nicely decorated and clean.
E. S.
A pretty bog standard pub. Large drinks variety, good selection of gin. Pretty nice food. Very interesting old building and very cosy. Service is always really good. Toilets were a bit broken; options were broken seat or no flush.
S. B.
Nice eatery but some meals better than others. Beef and Merlot pie delicious but game suet pie awful. Meat inside good but suet was very thick and heavy and hard to swallow. Like a mouthful of dumplings with no taste. Had bad fish and chips months ago but thought would give them another try. Will not be back in a hurry!
K. C.
Good food, reasonable price, lovely staff. No complaints.
J. M.
Nice place.Sandwiches were ok a bit pricey.
Shame they asked us to leave after 4 drinks.(covid rules apparently)
Didn't even get chance for a pudding.
Their loss.
Very friendly / helpfull waitress lady though.
A. C.
Pretty good pub grub although the bubble & squeak served with my lamb shank was not how bubble & squeak should be. I received sloppy mash with a bit of cabbage mixed in. My hubbies ham, egg & chips were good with plenty of thickly sliced ham (wish I'd ordered his). Slow service but we were told this was because 4 tables came in together. Nice surroundings & pleasant staff.
C. H.
Went for a meal today as a last minute decision - the food was really really good. I am vegan and they have a great vegan menu but you need to ask so some may miss out if they don't realise this. My partner is omni and said the roast beef was absolutely lovely, my veggie roast was the best I've ever had. Partner had a pudding menu (coconut milk sorbet with raspberry coulis and strawberries) said it was the loveliest pudding he'd ever had. Prices pretty reasonable too. We will definitely be back. Thank you Brassmill
S. G.
Lovely food. Nice staff..just watch for parking fine
s. n.
Really good food and service.
Waitress very attentive there when needed but not intrusive.
T. M. B.
Good food good value. The menu changes all the time too which I think is great.
T. S.
Service was ok. Great vegan menu, though half of the vegan desserts weren't available and the apple pie was clearly microwaved so all went a bit soft, would have preferred a reheating in an oven or grill to maintain crisp crust.
G. C.
Beautiful inn staff first class, sadly can't say the same about the food. Having had a poor meal there some months ago we decided to give it a second chance, big mistake. As last time we had the trio platter only to find it was as poor as the last time ,meat very dry one piece of beef + a lump of fat.roast potatoes burnt . Such a shame cant see US going back any time soon.
M. M.
Very good service and food portion was more than adequate.
p. a.
Service was excellent Meal not so good
N. W.
Where do I start I was very disappointed with the starter £5.95 for the prawn and lobster cocktail 9 prawns and 3 tiny bits of lobster on a tiny but of iceberg lettuce served on a large dinner plate with two bits of bread very poor. Main course Hunters Chicken again not great meat was small but it was hot the chips at best tepid sauce lukewarm not great. My wife had the chicken mushroom pie and mash looked ok and she was happy with it and it was hot. Dessert was ok I had a choc brownie and ice cream wife trio of ice cream both were ok I had 1.5 larger wife soft drink cost £50 for me not worth the money.
But the place was clean and tidy with a nice buzz of conversation and the waitress was very good.
c. A.
Lovely food, lots of choice, tendancy to be a bit on the warm side however that was soon remedied.
As it was Christmas, lots of tasteful decorations around giving the whole place a warm and comfortable ambience.
Would go again.
A. E.
Won't lie, my pizza (meat feast) was undercooked. The only cooked part was the sides and the actual bottom of the base. Inside the base was raw. I didn't complain there and then because I didn't want to make a fuss. I paid £1.50 to have chorizo on my pizza (only 5 pieces). I ate the pizza regardless. This hasn't put me off going again as these things happen. Our waitress was nice.
L. J.
Popped in for lunch , lovely warm and cosy environment lots of candles lit ,felt very welcoming on a cold day. Nice menu, lots of choice with smaller plates available for a light lunch. Staff spot on. Would recommend .
m. b.
The place is very warm and welcoming, the staff are friendly and at your service when required. The food choices are good and the quality and portion size is excellent. My family have a christmas meal together every year and this time was are first time at the brassmill and we were very pleased, and have booked again for next year Thank you all and merry Christmas x
C. m.
My husband and I have always been very helpful and friendly and we have never had a problem with the food.
M. P.
Been here loads of times for the Sunday roast. Great value, high quality food, always perfectly cooked and reasonable value. Staff are friendly albeit they always seem rushed off their feet. Easy to book via the internet and can typically get a table even if only trying the night before. Why not 5 stars? Just a minor thing but when the staff offer you sauce (mint, horseradish etc.) with your roast they stand over you waiting for the pot back. Can they not leave it with you? Only a minor point and will def be back.
Worth thinking about though vintage inns...
R. T.
We have never had a bad meal there, food always great. Love the space near the roaring fire where we can also take dogs in.
A. R.
Nice local pub. We only had drinks (a bit on the pricey side!). There's a fireplace that's not working but the overall ambience is warm and cosy.
BEWARE: The pub has it's own private carpark. If you park there, you must enter your car registration details on the console as you enter reception. If you don't, you will be fined £85. Unfortunately I had to pay the price for not registering.
D. W.
Lovely food and service thank you st the brassmill
N. V.
Good food, reasonably priced, excellent staff and pleasant environment.
J. D.
Love it. Plenty of space, good beers, good value for money and always accommodating. Decent size car park too 🙂. We often come here for the chilled atmosphere. Give it a go, it won't disappoint.
H. M.
Lovely setting. Gorgeous food and excellent service by the waiting staff. My lovely Grandson treated me to lunch..
C. O.
Always excellent service from friendly staff. Meals served piping hot, as they should be. Lots of space enables easy social distancing.
J. S.
The meal was OK although they had nearly run out of the turkey. Diappointed that they did not accept our Gastro Society card - as they do so Mon to Thurs only. The service was very good could not fault them at all.
J. A.
The menu that day was different to the previous week, but had lots of pork or cheese item which my friend cannot eat, so there was not much choice for her
F. B.
Not very good today unfortunately we sent the meals back. Three gammons were overcooked and quite chewy. However the staff as usual were very helpful in the situation and offered a full refund. Probably give this place a miss for a few days.
J. K.
Beautiful food and lovely staff.
Z. E.
Bar staff were very rude upon arrival, when we asked where to sit he replied in a way showing he couldn't care less.
It was clear that The Brassmill had just gone under a recent face lift, the decor was modern and welcoming. The food however was a disappointment, the menu looked tempting but when the food was served it was luke warm. The fish on the seafood platter tasted the same due to the thick greasy batter, that had been all fried in the same pan. the portion sizes were poor for the price of the dish.
We had been waiting for a little while to go to this restaurant, but I would strongly advice not to go.
J. F.
Took Gran here for lunch, apart from some internal issues with setting up.a tab it was a lovely experience. Plenty of classic pub food to choose from and a good beer selection. I had the Wagyu burger which as expected was melt in the mouth stuff. Great setting, looking forward to enjoying it more in the summer months.
M. C.
Excellent food, excellent service.
I. W.
Excellent customer service, friendly and helpful..The food was very tasty and well presented..No waiting for the food to arrive and the atmosphere and surrounding very pleasant...
B. J.
We had a lovely Sunday lunch yesterday. Great staff. We had to wait a long time for our meal but was excellent. 100%
K. W.
Always good food and staff
S. F.
Lovely food, great service and clean. First meal out since before lockdown and I was very pleased with the experience.
S. G.
I went in the crown first and ordered a Sunday dinner , sat down and asked the people next to me " how long they'd been waiting" . " Nearly an hour" so I left and went to the Brassmill, was served with in 5 mins, great food, great service. Maybe my new local 10/10
J. H.
Really lovely place, the staff were very accommodating. Food was great.
A. D.
Great food, super waiting staff, reasonable prices too,Go along check it out,Sunday lunches are good too😃😃👍👍
S. M.
A very good meal !! Lots of choice on the menu, reasonable prices and great service will be going back 👍
E. S.
Their staff were really friendly and were good at catering for my nut allergy. The food was so great especially the wagyu burger. Will come again! :)
T. “.
Food was ok service was ok beer was ok I mean it was OK at best
A. G.
You have got to try the Flower Pot desert. It's great. Nice dog friendly place and you are not shoved in a corner out of the way.
M. U.
Great stuff and beautiful food
J. S.
Food was great and staff were very friendly and social distanced so felt comfortable eating there
m. p.
Did a late Sunday lunch with family. The automatic booking system works well until you need to amend it, gave up in the end. I tried to call the pub but no response. As for the food, my beef duo had to go back, due to lack of beef! One thin slice under a blob of fat clinging to a rib. A replacement was soon on it's way. No cauliflower cheese on offer and the grill had broken so no steaks etc. My meal was taken off the bill and the manager was apologetic. A poor meal this time but we have been using this pub for 20 plus years and I'm sure we'll be back.
T. M.
I was disappointed that there was only one vegetarian dish on the menu, and when requested it, was told they only had a Cale tart, that that had to be used before the "Thyme Roasted Plum Tomato Tart" could be put on the menu. Three of us requested the Veg dish. When we complained, we were given the "right dish". The food wasn't very hot. Also, cheese and biscuits was on the menu, this also was unavailable. So sadly, a disappointment.
l. w.
Felt very safe, good social distancing friendly staff and good menu.
Starter was a bit over cooked, but rest of meal was lovely.
S. B.
Outstanding food and great atmosphere. Will definitely be going again soon!
C. L.
We enjoyed our meal very much. Lovely food and lovely friendly staff. Couldn't fault it.
R. D.
Had the Roast Beef meal, was a little too cold. But was given a new replacement but only a little warmer. Food should be piping Hot when serving. Also had to ask for Steak Knives which is a given when serving large meat steaks.
M. R.
Has been updated since last there. Service quick has an app to order food and drinks.
A. P.
Always have lovely food here, staff friendly atmosphere good. Get plenty of food for your money. Definitely recommend. We have been here quite a few times.
D. M.
Had lovely fish cakes, excellent service, good food and pleasant surroundings. I like it here.
J. P.
Good food, large portions. Staff are friendly. Service is well intentioned but not always competent. Place is comfortable. Car park always has plenty of space.
P. W.
I ate at the Brassmill the other week and all I can say to the previous reviewers is, go and try again. There is a new manager there and the place has turned around rapidly. I could not identify with any of the previous negative issues, mine was a very positive experience. This is the first time I have ever written a review and was moved to do so by the obvious changes since the previous customer experiences
L. D.
Went there last night, the 15th June looking forward to a nice steak. Was informed that the rump was off, but the rib eye, or T bone were good. Ordered 2 rib eye's at 17 quid each and was presented with a pile of gristle and sinew. Complained after fighting through the edible bits and leaving the un-edible bits on the plate and was told by the waitress that you have to expect that sometimes with steak! Not at 17 quid I think!
H.
Went along at 6.00 p.m. on a Saturday evening, close to Christmas. The place itself was beautifully presented with quality Christmas trimmings, looking very festive. We were shown to our table straight away and alloted a waitress - Debby for the duration of our meal. we were served drinks immediately and the meal itself was put in front of us within half hour. Myself being vegetarian I had a vege option and it was perfect. The other 3 had equally lovely meals. The puddings were to die for. Debby, was extremely courteous and polite. Nothing was too much trouble, even though she was also serving another table of 20 and had another party of 20 coming in as well.
I have no problem in recommending the Brassmill to anyone. It was a five star experience for me.
M. M.
I absolutely love eating here. The staff are wonderful. The food is excellent. I eat here at least once a month and sometimes more often. My dad loves to eat here also.
S. H.
Light years better than 5 years ago, updated decor, open log fire, good food and service. Lets keep it our secret so that the car park doesn't get full and I can get a table ;-)
R. B.
The meals were fantastic
S. J.
Staff so welcoming. Tables well spaced out felt very comfortable eating out. Lovely Sunday lunch
R. M.
Been many times over the years. Last few years its gone upmarket with both the food quality and service . And have enjoyed the food and service I've received. Many places local that I would not go to but see.packed all the time. Unsure why
G. H.
Found veg rather on the cool side. A few roast beef were served with all the fat and no meat these were not charged for but. Lost out on their Xmas meal
P. F.
It is a nice friendly place. The food is good and fairly priced. We will be back when we are next in the area. And even our dog has been invited to come in as well.
V. M.
No pork scratchings - the steak I was served wasn't the ribeye I'd ordered, the chips were dry and stodgy and its not cheap! Wouldn't rush to go back there.
J. S.
Reasonable food, if a little overpriced. I'd have said 80% of the menu was frozen, even the 'seasonal' veg, which was disappointing. Great service though.
M. S.
Very tasty beef & red onion sandwich. Extremely cosy with the fire keeping us all warm. Busy but didnt have to wait as long as expected for half term.
R. C.
Lovely atmosphere, great portion sizes - especially the puddings! We regularly travel 25mins here for lunch or dinner. Friendly, helpful staff.

Lovely food and even with the restrictions it felt like a dose of normality. Staff were very friendly and we will be back again soon.
N. D.
Good atmosphere, friendly staff and good food at a reasonable price. Easy to park and overall a great evening out.
J. H.
Sunday lunch at 1pm ran out of Yorkshire puddings - No offer of a bill reduction not a cheap lunch venue - Sunday lunches need Yorkshire puddings!!!!
J. M.
I frequently go here with my friend for mid-week dinners and we both love it. The pub itself is gorgeous, the food is delicious and the staff have always been friendly and helpful.
P. B.
Went for lunch today it was lovely.Good choice of food on the menu and good following of the social distancing rules felt nice and relaxed.

J. O.
Staff great but food very fried and soggy belly of pork. Will go back for drinks but not food.
N. W.
First visit. Nice place, great team the night we were there. Food was excellent value for money. Will be back this week.
M. J.
The Brassmill is a very smart purpose built pub that has a fair bit of ambience for a modern build pub. Not a bad experience atal. However, the choice of ales was all the usual dumbed down suspects, Tribute, Doombar and Butcombe. Why have places got no more imagination than this? 3 very average beers. Yet when I went for Thier chieftan IPA instead, which wasn't bad, but not fantastic you end up paying ridiculous craft Ale pricees, £5.10 in this case. The way pub chains and brewers are going, they will finish pubs off for good, and they are dying fast. For that price I want the very best, not mid table, rant over!
W. S.
Went there for a meal unfortunately only taking bookings as a shortage of staff.
T. C.
Good solid food and friendly, helpful staff. A shame the food was rather slow coming out.
n. w.
went for lunch, great food with a good lunch deal. the waitress was also really friendly and gave good advice on menu choices
M. E.
I rarely eat here anymore because of some fairly lackluster past experiences, but I do enjoy coming to the brassmill for a quick drink with family or friends. In keynsham it's one of the best options for this.
V. D.
Lovely meal, food was excellent, lovely atmosphere but service was a little slow.

The food was fine, and the price seemed very good I will be going back again

C. B.
Lovely setting especially in summer when you can sit outside. Yummy food, reasonable value. Friendly staff.
J. B.
A superb Gastro-pub The actual building is full of character and displays it's historic background The menu is compact and has enough variety to match most people's tastes I found the choice of beer and cider matched my wife and my tastes The service was good and the serving staff knew how to react to the customers This is a pub I would have no compunction in recommending
S. W.
Had a lovely meal but didn't know that you had to pay for car park so have now ending up with a £85 fine worked out to be a very expensive meal in the end wasn't warned by staff at all about this been a while since I ate there will be a long while before I go back
J. L.
Lovely situation, great food, pleasant staff. What more could you want on a lovely sunny September Monday!
