Reviews of The Fox Inn
R. E.
Always such a warm and friendly place to be.
We booked for Sunday lunch for 9 people and the team there couldn't have been more courteous and welcoming.
They suggested and ensured that there was full availability of what we wanted from the menu by putting pack enough for our choices seems we were dining later at 2pm.
They also customised some Sunday lunches for the kids who decided they wanted Mac'n'Cheese in place of a meat choice.
All of the food was hot and tasty. And there was a good amount of it too.
The service was amazing, the atmosphere warm and cosy with the large log burner stove, and to be fair we could have all sat there quite happily for hours more.
Top marks as always.

The Fox Inn is one of my favourite pubs. The staff here are always super friendly, the pub is very cosy and the beers are great. Highly recommend this pub!
N. G.
Friendly owner delicious home made food and good selection of local beers and ciders. Pricing very reasonable as well.
K. R.
Lovely little tucked away pub in beautiful village with well kept, pretty pub garden. The 4 of us had a very yummy roast here, big generous portion (Roast Pork & Beef) extra gravy boat too ✔️... and yummy big pudding too (Crumble & Brownie)....fast service and very friendly staff. We'll definitely come again and recommend to friends and family too. Thanks 😊👍

A great country pub for old timers and old mutts to exchange pleasantries and sniff butts at the end of the day. Always great fun to watch 2 octagenarians in matching fedoras take 10 minutes to park a leather-upholstered open convertible under the shade of a tree dropping sap before one gently prises the other out of his seat to womble across the lawn to go inside to be propped up by the bar. The dogs at 14 years old are only a little more agile than their owners but would look infinitely cuter behind the wheels of the sports cars adorning the car park. The perfect pub for sundowners at sundown.

Cosy, warm, fabulously friendly, fantastic service! Chloe buzzed around like a busy bee! Food was top knotch! Especially the sticky toffee pudding!! Will be visiting again!!

The Fox has reopened for food today. 13 of us went for lunch, we prebooked our meals, so they were ready for our arrival. We sat in the garden and had great food. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Recommend calling in.

The Fox hosted a family birthday celebration event for us on 31 July; Phil & the team couldn't be faulted and were very accommodating of our requirements and sensitive to various dietary needs. Particular thanks to the catering side who delivered an excellent buffet that exceeded our expectations in both quantity & quality. Overall, they helped make our special day particularly memorable and all who attended had a great time!
A. &. K. W.
Lovely country pub. Went today for belated fathers day drink, ladies sewing club sat outside, a few old guys with a dog. Nice home made pasty and salad...lush.
A. e.
Had Sunday roast dinner at the fox inn old down, beef was very nice, just improvement on the vegetables, carrots could be thicker sliced and a little more veg in general.. Nice pub.
P. T.
Nice Pub. Big garden. Now have a chef again, but no food on Monday and Tuesday. Food not badly priced, and fairly generous helpings. Nice to sit on the verandah if it's warm enough!
D. B.
It’s a good pub to visit for lunch. Reasonable prices for food and drink
R. M.
Lovely countryside pub in small village. Great beer & cider selection. Long wait for food hence 4 stars, but very busy on a arm sunny Friday evening. Small fishcakes for me liver & onions for my partner. Both worth the wait.
J. F.
What can I say, always a warm welcome! Especially when Dad puts the fire on! 😜
F. A.
Had the special, bubble & squeak which was delicious. Lovely pub garden to enjoy the sunshine. Highly recommend ❤️❤️
H. J.
Always a lovely time down the fox, Phil and Lynn are the nicest of people and always accommodating. Having tried the food, it was excellent, can’t wait to come back!
N. C.
Very high quality Sunday lunch and very well kept real ales. A real gem of a pub!
D. V.
Nicely tucked away in a pretty village location. Free house with a range of beers. Good food at mid-range prices.
c. g.
Good pub food and good selection of ales. Had the fishcakes which were excellent. Car park was full so quite a few parked on the narrow street outside.
L. W.
Superb food
Reasonable price
Friendly owner and staff
S. B.
Excellent beer, and Black Rat cider. Good food as well, recommend the fish and chips.
M. O.
Very welcoming atmosphere and I would definitely recommend for a nice quiet drink.

Love this place! Been visiting it with family & friends for about 7 years now. Don't miss their Spicy Wedges & lasagna.
T. E.
Good food, good prices, friendly staff

Generally a decent place with real open fire. Seemed vet popular for a Thursday lunchtime. Pie was home made but average in all respects, £1 extra for chips rather than new potatoes and it was a very small portion. Small spoonfull of veg. So not great value. Nice atmosphere but food decidedly average, price a little above average, I would say poor value overall making it a fair experience but I wouldn't go there again anytime soon. You get better value in most other pubs.
J. S.
Just had lovely meal after 2 years of waiting, will defo be back.

All in all , we had enjoyable Sunday lunch with good and tasty food.
The only minor point being the roast potatoes where over cooked in places and to hard to eat but really was nothing and I'm sure on another occasion wouldn't happen.
Small point but no one came to the table to ask if everything was ok, other than that the service was good.
Being a free house, you had a good choice of beer and cider on tap and wines to choose.
Overall appearance of the place was good, and nicely decorated inside.
Definitely think we will eat at The Fox lnn in the future .
J. H.
A great pub in a wonderful location, no phone signal inside however. When you visit, be sure try the food, it's fantastic.
The selection of beer, ale and cider is also very good along with the wines. There's a great beer garden that catches the sun in the early hours of the summer but can be very cold in the winter.
A. M.
Pleasant garden, great friendly and helpful service. Enjoyed discovering bar snacks again. Will likely call again
C. F.
Very welcoming with a lovely fire. We all had the small fish and chips which was a good size, chips and mushy peas were lovely unfortunately the batter was thick and soggy more like a pancake wrapped around the fish.
D. R.
Great local small pub, serves nice food and has a good atmosphere. Has a Gem, Doombar, Thatchers Gold, Thatchers Dry, and Tribute on tap (and few others that I can't remember). We often visit for lunch but it can get very busy so book in advance!
N. P.
Always book! Lovely place, nice staff and always packed so book in advance. Really nice sunday roast, always served hot. Always got nice specials too, something for everyone on the menu. They do my favourite drink, gin with elderflower presse so im happy. Always clean inside and in the winter they have lush blankets near the front door for people to use-cute extra. Never taken the dog but i think its dog friendly. Would really recommend it
K. W.
Really lovely roast dinner. Best roast potatoes ever and very generous serving of meat, not to mention extra gravy! Service a little slow but that's because it's so busy - it's easy to see why!
S. “. t. M. F.
Well presented local pub, good selection of cider and beers, not to many over hyped "real ales"
A. T.
Lovely comfort food on a wet January night! Had the liver and bacon, which was very tasty, followed by Eton Mess - scrummy! As it was 2 January, it was quite quiet, but still a lovely place. Worth a visit.
S. D.
Good range of beer and a warm friendly pub. Nice balance of eating and drinking areas. Great garden in warmer weather. Hard to fault this lovely little pub.
j. g.
Nice, traditional location.... small, cosy pub that provides super home cooked food.... great portions, good choice and selection of beers and ciders and wines.... definitely recommended and will come back again!
A. H.
Good pub, nice section of beers and ciders. Friendly regulars too!
L. S.
Brilliant pub to break up a long journey along the M5. Lovely dog walk nearby too. The pies are delicious and made with homemade pastry.
L. C.
Food here is very good. We we're in a large party about a dozen of us. We had to wait a bit for our meals but it was all served at the same time and everyone enjoyed the meal.
D. B.
We just stopped by for a drink. Nice friendly pub, excellent selection of beer on the bar. Hope to go back soon and sample the food
P. S.
Had a 45 minutes wait for a Sunday roast. Gave us time to see who was being served before us,which was a couple of young girls who came in after us.looked like one worked there, as she went behind the bar and they got thier lunch 10 minutes before us.we were not well pleased.did not make management aware of our displeasure as just wanted our lunch as very hungry by then. Probably won't vist again.
J. T.
Took elderly mum & dad in the week for lunch- it was all perfect- great selection of home cooked food excellent glass of London Pride- very friendly staff. Will back soon👍

This was an olde world type pub very homely , we went with relatives for Sunday dinner pub type lunch ,it was excellent food fresh cooked and perfect roast potatoes, you do need to book in advance, but it's all worth it.
D. H.
After 76km of cycling this was a welcome stop. Good ale!
Good atmosphere.
Great pub garden under the Magnolia tree.
M. W.
A lovely genuine country village pub which gave us a warm welcome and a beautifully cooked lunch. The fire wasn't lit but it was warm enough without.
A. K.
Catered for 7 of us with no fuss on a busy lunchtime. Food was really nice, maybe a little pricey but the venue and staff are excellent with a good choice of drinks.

Beautifully cooked, well presented homemade meals. We had beef lasagne (very tasty) and steak pies ( great homemade pastry and plenty of lean steak) really delicious! Good selection of beers and drinks. Very clean and well maintained pub (and toilets). Kitchen has a 5/5 hygiene rating. Friendly husband and wife owners. Looking forward to our next visit. We can see why it’s so popular and we’ll probably book in advance to make sure we have a table.
