BEST PUB IN BRISTOL! I know its only personal opinion, but I'd swear by it. Whether its a chill drink and gathering on a Monday night or a raucous dance with the best folk on Easton on a Friday night, every SINGLE time I've come home to the Plough, I've had the kind of magical, one-off, incredible night of giggles and laughter. Every siiiingle time. Nobody does it quite like the Plough ❤❤❤

A wonderful pub experience complete with atmospheric booths for outdoor socially distanced revelry. The food was out of this world (particularly the cauliflower tacos), the staff were attentive, expert and friendly. All in all WE LOVED IT!

Great tunes! Music is so eclectic here. You can go one night and it's punk music and then the following week it's funk. Didn't eat here, just reviewing on the night out here. Also, generally positive vibes w the crowd. Worst thing was how packed it was, could barely dance without hitting someone.

Beer ranges from the cheap (red stripe in a can) to the pricey special ales. Good vibes, gets really busy.

Brilliant as ever. One of my locals. Great music, great atmosphere, bar staff are some of the best I've ever come across in terms of friendliness, efficiency, speed, queue fairness and ability to knock you up a special beverage when faced with the request "surprise me!" (and this is coming from a woman who's worked a lot of bars myself). Have never tasted the food, though others say its pretty great. Prices are great value, it's got a decent sized smoking area out back with a LOT of seating and even has a pool table indoors. Toilets are generally clean and stocked with paper. It's definitely more of a rough and ready friendly local rather than a swanky destination venue but if you're looking for Easton Atmosphere this is the place! I have a lot of time for this pub. One of the best in Bristol. Is such a chilled out environment, people are from all backgrounds and all mix together and have a good time. Staff there are amazing and friendly. They serve food, food menu is decent and hearty and drink choice is decent as well.

Never been to this pub before. What an experience. From the onset it appears intimidating, but everyone who I met was lovely, caring, and great fun. A superb selection of rums and alcohol. Dead man's fingers Cornish rum. I have never had it before but thanks to the plough, and the awesome bar staff, I love that drink now.

Great pub this - I like it for late night atmosphere. Go here later on and it's always busy, full of lovely people, great music and dancing. There is good beer and there is a beer garden. It's very laid back so you don't need to dress up.

It's a cool pub with awesome live events. Mr Woodnote being a highlight. I hope it survives the lockdown well. The Plough is a bit of an institution really and a proud part of the underground music scene in Bristol. Although it doesn't have the same 'edginess' as say the Black Swann, the vibe can be a bit weird/creepy/intimidating and the toilets are pretty grimy. Be warned ladies, there are some odd guys at the live music events! Overall though the crowd is generally friendly. Good selection of beer and cider on tap.

The Plough was the first pub I went to when I moved to Bristol and I've been proud to call it my local ever since, no matter where I happen to be living in Bristol. It's more than a pub, it's a great community full of creative and compassionate people from all walks of life. It's gone through many changes throughout the last couple of decades, but it has become better with time. A great asset to Bristol.

A colleague of mine encouraged me to visit as it's his favourite "local". He told me before entering that, "the only thing that they don't tolerate is intolerance", which I could certainly identify with once I went in. I can honestly say I have never seen such a diverse ethnic mix of customers in a single pub before. Equally, it was also extremely laid back and pleasant, and I felt completely welcomed, even though as the office nerd in a shirt I was the minority! From the outside (and to be honest, from the inside), it doesn't look like much on first impressions. It's a bit dark in there, and the decor is very, "improvised"! However, that quickly becomes one of its charms, as you realise that this is deliberate and reflective of the diverse customer base. Random artworks and memorabilia are all over the place, with a sense that something might just get slapped over the top when they feel like a change. Works really well though! Round the back there is an outdoor area with plenty of tables and an elevated view of the main railway lines into Bristol, which I actually found quite fascinating to watch over a (very nice) pint or two. The bar has an incredible selection of spirits, and if you're a fan of real ales you won't be disappointed. Finally we came to the hidden treasure - The food. Despite the dark and slightly haphazard impression of the front of house, they have a five star food hygiene rating at the time I wrote this (I'm a nerd, I checked!), and the food was fantastic. I had a wrap and some nachos, and if I hadn't been so stuffed, I would have ordered something else. In conclusion, a cunningly disguised oasis of tolerance, good food and beer. It's a bit out of the way for me, so I don't know when I'll be back, but I'd recommend it to anyone if you get the chance.

It's now a bit of a hipster, gentrified place that's desperately trying not to be a hipster, gentrified place. It's a much more pleasant atmosphere now, beer garden is lifted by the gentle sounds of bird song and trains a couple of metres away and the aroma of weed compliments the sausage rolls delightfully.

True Bristol Institution In my humble opinion The Plough is one of Bristol’s finest kept secrets. A true no frills classic pub offering a surprisingly large selection of excellent independent, local and commercial fraught and cask beers, ales and ciders alongside a respectable spirit selection. Live music is performed several nights a week by a wonderfully diverse and eclectic selection of artists. When not filled with the sound of music The Plough also offers sports viewings alongside pub games and offers an excellent, hearty and tasty menu. I hesitate to write this review as The Plough is a true Bristol institution unsullied by the rigours of commercialism, best kept by those truly in the know.

When you say "pub" it is like say Plough... :) One of the best pubs in the UK I can say. Thatchers and beer could be more cold, really but thats just one thing what I would improve... Yeah and the toilet paper should be useful for somebody... But appreciate clean toilets and enough soap for wash hands.:)

Pubs Like This Are Rare; This place was recommended by a friend as he knows I like The Bell Inn in Bath. The Plough is The Bell x 10! First of all you're greeted by an unassuming, tired, worn out facade. I think this is deliberate camouflage and is an effective anti Hipster strategy (they crave this 'authentic feel' but seem to think it should be expensive and accompanied by Jazzy 60's Italian film music, milk bottles with stripy straws and avocado salads, it's not). My friend was there to give me the low down. After ordering a very inexpensive lager we popped out the back for a quick smoke. It was packed out there, at 4pm! Footballers, Postmen. Punks, Crusties, Rasta's, a bewildered French couple, The Easton Cowgirls (A Netball team made up entirely from reincarnated Kamikaze Pilots). After popping back inside I was so intrigued by the place I started asking some questions, this is the easy conclusion I came to; It's an amazing community resource, a Free House with kicking guest ales, proper rum, and anything in between to suit every boozing palate. It was set up by a Jamaican guy (now sadly not there) who just wanted to create a safe space where all are welcome and feel it, violence is unheard of as respect MUST be shown by all (What!?, in a Pub???) it has the weirdest/most original decorating scheme incorporating 'up cycling' on a shoe string, but the best use of blank record sleeves I've seen. The quirky is fueled by sport; a lot of it supplied by the regulars as football is the key, accompanied by a timetable of games they're showing (even lowly Brentford got a look in). The clientele are an eclectic mix akin to Bristol's contingent to the UN (including a Man U fan who turned out to be the Landlord, Alfonso, who is a Scouser, go figure). All the punters have one common philosophy of peace, love and understanding (and possibly football). The music is varied and wide ranging, mostly Ska while I was there, which is more than fine by me. The bar staff are the friendliest bunch, all very individual and un corporate, who are happy to banter and join in with the joke (there was lots of that). If they're not laughing they're giving you samples of the latest guest cider. Easton is lucky to have this place, and they know it for sure. It's loved for more than one good reason, it has a few. As we watch the world slide into a bottomless pit of conflict, bigotry and hate all seems lost, doesn't it.....? The antidote is The Plough Inn. Refresh and renew your love for your fellow humans right here.
