Reviews of The White Horse
G. D. T.
Outstanding flavours for me. Delicious fish n chips and mushy peas. And the Guinness sticky toffee pudding was undoubtedly the best sticky toffee pud I’ve ever tried anywhere. Lovely cosy place as well and friendly staff. Look forward to returning to try the steak.
J. D.
Visited for Sunday lunch, great service and very nice food. The roast portions were huge and such good value for money - will definitely be returning! Dog friendly is always a bonus too

This was the first time any of us had been here. We visited based on family and friends recommations and also read fantastic reviews on here.
We weren't at all disappointed.
The food was exceptional, the staff were so friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was excellent.
Even though it was a Monday evening it was very busy so I'm glad we booked.
The waitress overheard that it was our Mum's birthday so when our desserts were brought out, Mum's had a candle placed on the top, which she was thrilled about.
All in all, a fantastic time was had by all. Thank you to everyone who made it such a memorable evening for our Mum
J. G.
Fabulously delicious and perfectly cooked cod sat in pretty pub garden. Enjoyed an excellent chicken supreme when visted a couple of months ago. Staff are lovely too. We are lucky to have such a great pub on our doorstep
J. L.
Great pub to go if you have dogs, very welcome with your dog's inside and outside in the garden, drinks are great and at a good price,I can't say about food as I didn't eat, but they was lot's in the restaurant part. Great place would recommend

We recently had our wedding in The Barn at The White Horse and it was simply fantastic. From the beginning Lucy was on hand to answer any and all questions we had and ensure the day ran smoothly. All the staff are lovely and a particular shout out for Fraser for helping our photographer move the sofa across the terrace! All the guests are raving about the food and setting. Everything was just so lovely and we can't wait to go back for a meal.

Brought my children here to meet Santa and they loved it!. It's such a personal experience its brilliant. Not only that but The White Horse pub is warm and cozy, the perfect place to have a mulled cider or hot chocolate to Finnish off.
S. I.
Food is excellent! Very good quality pub food in the local area. Dog friendly pub. Only area of improvement would be : takes a long time to get served - long waiting time even for drinks.
J. H.
Lovely (dog friendly) pub with great atmosphere, plenty of outside sitting space and really friendly and welcoming staff.
This place is always busy so booking in advance is advisable, particularly if you wish to eat in.
Even when you don’t book in advance and manage to find a table you’ll find that being able to buy food can be very hit and miss (mostly miss).
Availability aside, food has been good those times I’ve been able to get it so could well be a case of managing the kitchen’s output to purposely serve less customers but do a good job of it.
The drink selection is good. That is to say, the beers on sale are varied and there is something there for everyone but there are no guest beers on sale as far as I can see. If you’re the sort of person who likes to drink the same beers all the time you’ll find this reassuring. If you like to sample and discover new ales regularly this may not be your preferred destination all the time.

Just had a lovely latte, cappuccino and cake. It was really delicious. Very homely and warm atmosphere. Set next to cosy open fire. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.
J. H.
Entering the White Horse, we were met with the friendly staff and a booming fireplace. Their Sunday lunch menu is simple with the staples (beef, pork, chicken) and a vegetarian option. We were slightly let down by the meat which comes as a 'cube' per se. Not much flavour even with the gravy. The veggies and generous size of the Yorkshire pudding were nice but it's hard to get those wrong.
I can see myself coming back for the atmosphere and drinks. Just not the food. A lovely local pub for a catch-up and dog-friendly too.
J. M.
A delicious Saturday lunch. Perfectly cooked burgers and a cottage pie. Local ingredients. Charming service. Reasonable prices. We will be back
s. d.
What a beer garden out off this world food incredible 👌
G. S.
Food is great although there is a limited menu, quality over quantity of choice. Prices reflect the quality. You may need to book midweek as it is a popular destination
M.
Great place, beautiful garden with lots of outdoor seating.
There's marquees with heaters and lighting.
Fantastic food and excellent service.
Made for an enjoyable atmosphere.
Resident dogs are friendly and up for a cuddle if you want one.
T. M.
Pre Book if you want Sunday lunch, you won’t get one otherwise
H. F.
Lovely food, relaxed atmosphere and great service.
J. L.
Cosy atmosphere, and local beers. Great after a country walk and does a roast until later than most places in Bristol
D. C.
Nice gastro pub but expect to pay gastro pub prices. We were staying at the local coach house so we were stuck for choice. Nice but pricey.
D. W.
We ordered a Sunday lunch from our favourite local the White Horse. It was absolutely fantastic!
We love this pub, frequently walk there to sit in the beautiful garden with a pint or glass of wine. Food is brilliant.
M. A.
New years Eve set meal was excellent. A lovely meal to finish the year. Thank you White Horse.
D. W.
Great traditional pub, with lovely quality food. The desserts are awesome
J. B. W.
This pub has loads of character. Attended a wedding in The Barn which was an absolutely great venue.
L. B.
DELICIOUS ROAST, friendly service and very dog friendly. Will defo go again! You need to prebook though.
T. P. R.
Last visit was just for a quick drink in the fabulous garden at the end of the working day. Sun was shining, lovely experience.
We have eaten here several times in the past (when able to get a table, they're very busy) and can thoroughly recommend it.
l. d.
Lovely pub, great atmosphere with cozy fires and lots of seating.
G. M.
Went for a cream tea with my wife and daughter. Very well worth the money. Great choice of daintys on each platter. Sandwiches and cakes were lovely as was the warm quiche. The service was excellent and they could accommodate 3 different requirements of teas. The cream tea was so filling that we had to take some of it home. I would recommend this for a relaxing occasion.
P. V.
We had our wedding reception in the barn, again amazing and welcoming staff. Attention to detail and food was amazing. Perfect setting and kept informed throughout the night.
Recommend to anyone! Will be visiting soon our favourite local pub.
R. E.
Stopped here after a rainy walk. Despite being super busy the three girls working were more than happy to seat us for some coffees and nibbles. Despite being understaffed and very busy, we were served promptly and politely.
There were some very rude customers that were nothing but horrible to one of the waitresses (I think she said her name was Freya) but she remained very professional - props to you!
Hope the team manage to get through the rest of what seemed to be a very busy shift!
N. T.
We recently held our wedding at the White Horse and had a fantastic day - the venue is perfect for a medium sized wedding with the use of the barn and marque outside. The food was excellent and the staff were brilliant. They made our day special and I cannot thank them enough
N. H.
Excellent food. Was very busy when we visited so service was a bit slow.
N. B.
We booked a table for 4 on a Thursday evening at 7pm but were warned they had staff shortages so there might be a delay on the food ?
As it turned out there was no delay, the staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and there seemed to be plenty of them, though I dont know what its like in the kitchen but they are advertising for a Chef.
We went through the now familiar procedure of leaving our names and mobile numbers at the door sanitised our hands and were seated at a pleasant table by the window.
We were soon joined by our friends and drinks were ordered.
My mate is a bit of a Real Ale Buff (anorak) so he settled on a pint of draught GWB Pale Ale (£4.10) which he examined closely.
It didn't initially meet pass inspection, not being Pale enough apparently but when he tasted it he was reasonably satisfied though he only had the one so I'm not sure he was totally convinced.
I had a really nice Ginger Beer ( £2.50) which is becoming one of my Favourites lately. It came from Bundaberg in Australia, where we met my daughter some years ago when she was back packing around OZ and had a few nights stay. (See our Travel Blog for the full story).
My wife had a Chardonnay at a whopping £6.00 a glass a half of lager and lime (£1.00) completed the drinks.
The menu was excellent. Plenty of choices from Burgers to Steaks but for some strange reason we all decided on the 'Pan Fried Hake in Curried Veloute with Samphire, new Potatoes and roasted butter nut squash. (£16).
Veloute: A soup or sauce made of chicken, veal, or fish stock and cream and thickened with butter and flour.
It was a great choice. The Hake was beautifully cooked (though it was a very small portion and there was little else on the plate for bulk) white flakey and still moist though my skin wasn't crips but I dont eat the skin anyway.
The curry sauce (Veloute) was a strange combination but worked a treat and we all said how well it complimented the fish.
Samphire was great and the slight saltiness was welcomed.
Because we were all still hungry we chose to have deserts .
Two cheese boards, (£9.00 each) with a selection of rather thinly sliced cheeses, a pot of delicious chutney, some fruit and a selection of crackers. Grapes are quite common on a cheese board but the Dates were a surprise which I really enjoyed. They went especially well with the Blue Cheese. The biscuits were fine but I much prefer sweet biscuits with cheese rather than crackers.
A good choice if expensive.
My wife chose the Lemon Tart (£7.00) and she couldn't praise it enough. This was a real winner.
My friend tackled a really good looking Sticky Toffee Pudding (£7.00) though he left his Ginger Snap biscuit which was quickly claimed. Yet again, a really good desert.
In summary this was a really good meal in a great venue (some Pubs have better ambiance than others and this place feels comfortable).
Service was spot on, friendly, attentive, helpful but not overly familiar.
Seating was comfortable if a little up right and the price was reasonable (toward expensive) at £116.55 not including a service charge.
We didn't notice any delays in getting served so if there were problems they managed them well.
Give this a try but dont expect cheap and Cheerful.
C.
Lovely open areas. Easy access to a number of bars. Plenty of seating and friendly. Nice place to visit. Quite expensive for drinks.
R. K.
Took 10 of the office girls for an evening treat. Beautiful garden and the food and the service was outstanding. Highly recommended for an outdoor dining experience.
M. R.
Really nice place, had a delicious lunch. Friendly staff and a nice outdoor area.
Recommend the scotch egg starter...
R. M.

Lovely location. Great food. And perfect customers service. We were a large chatty group with 2 dogs. Thanks for looking after us so well yesterday.
S. K.
Lovely pub with plenty of outdoor space for food and drinks. Service is friendly with great tasting food.
R. C.
Food good, cosy venue. Service appalling - 2 hours for 1 course!
M. H.
Great food and lovely staff that are very dog friendly
J. C.
Great food, very attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere.
S. B.
Five of us had the Christmas menu at lunch on 15 Dec. Could not fault the food service or pleasant atmosphere.
L. O.
Quality tasty food, friendly service and really warm welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
Y. G.
Wow, best scotch eggs I've had in years. Visited for a meal with friends and we couldn't fault the service or food. I also love that they are for friendly. We will look to visit again as I'm desperate to try their Sunday lunches.
m. M.
Lovely atmosphere. Fabulous food. Smelly, dirty toilets. Desperately needs a refurbishment. Considering size of pub, toilets need to be kept clean . Really hope kitchen isn't as bad. Best not go there because food is so good. Lovely staff as always. I wish they would sort out toilets and it would be 5* everything.
W. H.
First of all I got to say the service we received was first class. Secondly the food for all 3 of us was absolutely superb. If I lived in the area I would come again.
S.
Usually a really good experience but on this visit the wait was very long, which isn’t that bad, however when the food arrived my potato’s were cold and my pan fried cod had limp unappealing skin. The sauce was very nice but also just above room temperature. Another person on my table unfortunately had a hair in their food. To their credit this was a one off in what is usually a very good restaurant . They did to their credit take some money off the bill for the extended wait time.
S. F.
Very nice pub. Awesome garden. Sensible prices. Good food. Nice staff. Parking limited when really busy.
m. k.
Great vibes! The atmosphere is awesome so chill and welcoming recently move to the area and blessed to have such a great local.
N. A.
Lovely pub, lovely food just quite expensive
S. O.
Amazing food, amazing service...they couldn't have done more to make you feel at home! Dog friendly too! 🙌🏿
P. G.
Lovely room, delicious food, efficient and friendly staff.
A. B.
Simple but very good food. Generous portions. Brilliant
R. A.
Very nice lunch here. We were lucky to get a table so suggest booking in advance as obviously very popular.
T. G.
Currently my favourite venue in Bristol. Current owners renovations have really done this grand old building justice. Perfect location. Menu is adventurous but not ostentatious. Service is always with a smile.
Update 15/10/22
Still wonderful
S. B.
Very nice pub set in lovely grounds, prices were reasonable.
P. B.
Excellent food. Fantastic friendly customer service. Well recommended.
K. B.
Move country pub atmosphere, and very popular with the locals. The menu is basic pub grub. All of us where happy with the food, but I had some strange onion rings
G. B.
Good pub grub with excellent outdoor tented area & brilliant service.
E. S.
Amazing food apple rhubarb crumble
Best ever
M. M.
Visited here as part of a work meal. Service was good and efficient . Lots of drinks offered at various points during the meal. Food was delicious if not a bit on the small side. Quality not quantity here. A very popular pub! Loved the outdoor seating with the heaters.
L. D.
beautiful Sunday lunch, best we have had in a long time. Fantastic service and lovely atmosphere. Definitely recommend
M. B.
Excellent experience. All the girls serving us were extremely professional. Fast and quick service. Food was good. Steaks at bit dry but otherwise well presented. Loved the resident dogs there they walk around and greet you at the table. Dog friendly.
S. M.
First lunch out since pandemic started and couldn't have chosen a better location. Large, airy marquee in a courtyard overlooking the garden provides comfortable, well-spaced seating out of the sun and rain. Excellent food at reasonable prices served by efficient, friendly staff, there are also plenty of water bowls available to keep your canine friends well refreshed.
S. H.
Turned up without a reservation & sat in the lovely spacious beer garden. They were super accommodating of my friend who was gluten free - separate fryer etc. Food was great, service was great 👍
A. W.
Really good Sunday roast, cozy pub with nice staff.
L. H.
Went to a wedding here was absolutely stunning 😍 and the staff were brilliant. The food was lovely too. Highly recommend xx
P. L.
I had a very enjoyable meal here. Friendly staff, great service and my beetroot and bean burger was fab.
We used the conference facilities for a meeting and these were excellent too.
G. B.
Terrific sunday lunch. Really good team seamlessly working. Great food in pleasant dining room. Outside looks good too....always
E. G.
Myself and my family come here regularly as every single time is spot on. The scotch eggs and roast dinners are absolute heaven (along with the rest of the menu of course :) ) Very pleasant staff , beautiful garden for the warmer weather (also lovely inside too) we also enjoy having bettie the dog join us sometimes 😎 5* without a doubt.
P.S please do the pulled pork burger on your specials again soon as it was the best thing ever!! 🍔 you
L. B.
Good menu. Lovely staff
K. T.
We were not disappointed tonight. Our evening meal, at the White Horse, was superb. Two had fish & two had fillet steak. All cooked to perfection. All served with drinks, with a friendly attentive waitress. Thankyou White Horse for another pleasant evening.

FAKE REVIEWS. We have now worked out who has spent the last 3 months leaving fake reviews on The White Horse page. A local, banned a few months back for threatening another customer has been regularly leaving vile fake reviews and pictures using the names of other customers, staff and even his nick-name for me! What a muppet!!! A visit to him is imminent!
In the meantime, here is a lovely, genuine picture from the pub...
C. K.
Gorgeous food. Great beer. Friendly service. Great spot by the river. Fabulous outside. Really cozy inside.
J. F.
Fabulous food. Wonderful friendly and efficient staff who were rushed off their feet.Waiting time between courses seemed endless. What a shame.as otherwise excellent.
M. H.
Able to accommodate us towards their close had 2 quality roasts with good sized portions. Definitely recommend
M. Š.
Who would have thought that my steak would include a visit from two cute local dogs that came to check on me (and the steak). 10/10 would pet again. And the steak was nice too.
K. e.
Good beer and food ,sadly last of the pubs in this area ,
I. P.
Food was great and a pint of Otter is one of my favourite drinks, but the service was really quite slow. The pub dogs are lovely. Even though it was a bit breezy it was very nice in the marquee.
N. C.
Lovely pub, Lovely food, lovely staff, in a lovely setting. Definitely worth a visit and you will definitely go back for more. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.
t.
Food was good without doubt as was the Sagres beer.Unfortunately did not like nor could understand how three dogs are allowed to freely roam the lounge/dining area whilst customers are eating.Dogs barking and rubbing up to tables.Won't be eating here again.Could be publicans idea of creating a homely atmosphere but its not healthy by my standards.
J. S.
Lovely evening amazing food and a warm friendly atmosphere. Dogs welcome too and the team here were all very friendly and looked after our group. Will definitely be back. Loved the deco as well.
C. S.
Lovely pub by the river went for a 40th birthday party. Party in the barn which is great venue
S. C.
Great place for a party meal, lovely grounds and very welcoming to dogs too. The menu choice was much wider than typical pub food, I think all 6 of us had something different and we all enjoyed it very much.
V. B.
Good classic gastro pub food, can't go wrong. I particularly enjoy their Sunday lunch. There is also a fair selection of drink choices. Have sat inside and outside in the maruqee - both are nice.
M. J.
Lovely pub with great garden and friendly bar staff
M. R.
13/9/21 & 15/9/21, evening meals & drinks Absolutely first class. Staff helpful and professional but friendly. Two great evenings and the staff did everything they could to help my disabled partner. Highly recommend.
R. E.
Beautiful.
Great food. Great drink. Great gardens. Great staff. Great atmosphere. Great Great Great.
H. B.
Lovely pub and beautiful garden.Keen, helpful staff.
Would have been 5 stars but felt the food is getting a bit too fancy. Not a very big choice, and very little salad or vegetables served with main meals. A friend of mine had pork in a masala sauce and it was a small amount of pork with rice ^and sage leaves'. Also not one chicken dish on the menu that night. Alot of fish dishes.
m. m.
The Sunday roast was omg unbelievable, so much food, top quality, was quite busy so a bit of a wait, had a beer so no worries, if you are nearby then go!!!!!
E. D.
A warm welcome. Very tasty food. Cleaning between customers seemed thorough. However, the time it took for food ordered to reach the table was slow.
S. H.
Lovely food and good service, a really nice dog friendly pub. We will be back.
m. h.
Great pub, good food and a fantastic garden.
You can bring your kids and its also dog friendly.
I like to go there at the end of a walk along the river frome.
C. S.
Excellent private room and delicious food including vegan. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and accomodating including storing our son's wheelchair.
C. F.
Had a great meal in here on Tuesday night. Starters were especially great (pork and steak) and the staff were really friendly and helpful...big shout out to Lara whose first night it was too. A very enjoyable and relaxed evening. Will be back!
J. H.
The Stilton burger was absolutely top notch. The sticky toffee pudding was another massive hit. Prices were more than the local spoons but that would be like comparing Lamborghini to Lada. Couldn't recommend it enough... Unless you don't like dogs milling around whilst you're eating.
R. W.
Has a lovely garden, perfect for food and a few drinks on a summer evening x
K. S.
Nice food and attentive waitresses. Staff working behind bar wearing masks around their chins for the 2+ hours we were in there. No wine list available to view. Food nice but expensive for what it was.
S. W.
Food was very nice and presentation was a key element. I do slightly question the prices for the portion sizes but otherwise a lovely visit.
K. I.
Really nice food, lovely garden and very dog friendly
G. H.
Second visit here, the first was in October lockdown where the Covid measures were well managed, and we ate inside where the food and service were both excellent.
This time the Covid measures were, again, in place but with the fab weather we had a table in the shade outside and, well, it was absolutely stunning. What a revelation!, terraced paved gardens with plenty of well spaced tables. Food and service still first class and Dog friendly. Great job White Horse.
L. W.
Lovely pub: clean, warm and nicely decorated. Reasonable prices, excellent service and a nice range of menu choices.
J. W.
Good quality food and service. 1st time visiting this pub and was pleasantly surprised. Didn't realise it was such a bid place with extensive gardens at the rear.
D. C.
Lovely meal and service was friendly and efficient. 5 adults and 3 children but plenty of room to all eat comfortably.
D. W.
We visited on a warm Thursday evening for dinner with friends. I chose pie of the day from the extensive menu and it was delicious and plentiful. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food too. Since we last visited the pub has been nicely renovated and the ambience is comfortable and relaxing. The standout for me though was the service we received which was friendly and attentive and all our requests were dealt with promptly and efficiently.
K. B.
CRACKING FOOD - POOR SERVICE.
Booked a table for 4 at 7.15 pm on a Friday night.
Arrived at around 7pm for a pre dinner drink and we're shown to our table immediately. A good start.
The bar was busy so we thought we'd wait for our server to come and ask if we wanted a drink.
No sign for 15 minutes so ended up going to the bar myself !
That pretty much set the tone - service wise - for the whole evening.
Yes it was busy but that shouldn't result in such slow and fragmented service.
We did end up being dealt with by a lady with glasses and dark hair....she was a breath of fresh air, prior to that the service was pretty poor.
On the plus side we all thought the food was excellent.
A good and varied choice on the menu, well cooked and well presented and not too expensive. Despite the service issues, we will be back to give it another try !
K. G.
First time visiting the White Horse. Beautiful pub with very friendly staff. Great selection of beers. Food looks amazing. We only had drinks, but are back next weekend for food (taking my vistont parents). Beer garden is beautiful, with a friendly pub dog (Betsy I think!). Thanks!
R. C.
Passed thus pub many occasions and visited this week for the first time. Really nice pub and enjoyed an excellent lunch. Will certainly visit again.
I. T.
Really well organised outside eating area with calor gas heaters. Tented seating areas, so you are protected from the UK weather! Very nice two hours sat having lunch with friends.
u. o.
I went there with my colleagues
Excellent, very tasty food,
Atmosphere was very nice. Fire places both side.
Food arrived in time.
Q. A. H.
Brilliant place to spend a nice sunny day. Their is plenty of parking and their beer garden is lovely! Their food was very good and freshly prepared . Not a negative point but I do wish establishments like this one start providing more non-alcoholic (I am aware this is a pub!) options. Nowadays there are plenty of good 0% beers!
J.
Pre-COVID this is the best pub I’ve been to in years. Great food during the week and weekends. Superb both inside and out and locally brewed beer. During lock down the take away beats all others. You have to try the scotch eggs - these unlike others claiming they’re a substantial meal actually are!
A. C.
Great place for a drink and a meal,I had fish and chips...the mushy peas was very delicious, the service very good...the waiters are very friendly and helpful. It a really beautiful settings...Will definitely come back.
K. F.
Lovely food as usual, love the small plates option so you can try things out. And two lovely dogs who look at you longingly but never actually beg for a chip🤣
P. B.
I really like the White Horse and the staff are great but was a bit disappointed with meal last night. Jerk chicken burger, which was a small piece of chicken in a cheap tasting bun with not much else and a few skinny fries in a bowel. Nothing else on the plate, expensive for what I got and uninspiring. Worse meal have had at the pub and usually a high standard.
N. M.
Lovely food, lovely setting. Very slow service unfortunately. Fully accepting covid situation, waited approx hour for food. Would have been good if staff comunicated during this wait. Also ,toilets were awful. Corners needed cleaning and regular disinfecting. Doors were very grubby as was the sink. Only aware of 2 toilets in the bar, full bar ,and outside, didnt feel safe to use toilet .
M.
Lovely staff, good food (particularly the scotch egg) and really good COVID marquee set up. Huge heated marquee with lots of garden space which they'd obviously made a huge effort on.
J. C.
Had the loveliest New Year’s Eve celebration with 8 friends. As usual, an excellent night. Food and service wonderful. Loved the magician (who was amazing), the music and dancing. Fireworks at midnight and a great atmosphere.
S. C.
Excellent Service & Excellent Food. Dog Friendly inside and out. Stopped here by chance on the way to Wales for some lunch. Great pub classics presented beautifully and cooked to perfection. Even the Dog was given a little treat and some water which was a nice touch!
N. D.
Great pub! Only went for drinks outside but great pub garden undercover with heaters. Food looked very tempting. We'll be back!
M. S.
Lovely pub, welcoming friendly staff. Wonderful gardens with different themed areas.
Mediterranean, sunken garden, and an elevated area where food would have been served Al fresco in happier times. This is post lockdown. In the elevated area there is bark to walk in and steps down to the stream. Also a patio area with a large table and parasol, there are deckchairs also. A lovely place to sit outside. Toilets immaculate. With reminders on hand washing procedures. Certainly well worth a visit.
Unlike our experience at the Golden Heart in Winterbourne Down.
Well done White Horse ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
O. P.
Amazing food, great atmosphere even with all the social distancing measures in place. Very safe but with the same high standard of service as always. Highly recommend for a lovely place to wine and dine. Always a huge selection.
M. K.
Well organised for Covid regulations. The pizza was delicious, as was the Scotch egg & fries. Really nice terraced patio rear garden, with outside bar area.
Friendly and helpful staff on hand too. Thanks for a lovely evening.
J. S.
Amazing Staff, very attentive and happy in their work. Food is amazing, had a 3 course meal, whilst also trying my Fianceè’s as well, and loved absolutely all of it, even seeing other people food come out, I was window shopping for next time. Atmosphere was amazing! A real buzz as everyone was enjoying themselves. Overall, well, AMAZING!!! Won’t hesitate to come back again, and again, and probably again!
G. H.
Great food in this gastropub. The pub is an old one but has been brought right up to date with modern decor. The food is excellent and although a little more expensive (about 10%) than I normally pay for Sunday lunch it was worth it. You may need to explain to the waiting staff about real ale if that is your thing.
B. J.
Absolutely amazing Sunday roast. Lovely atmosphere, great staff and extremely well run under covid restrictions. I can't speak highly enough. Do NOT miss this but make sure you book in advance.
Thanks for a lovely experience.
P. D.
Excellent pub on all levels hospitality food thoroughly recommend.
P. A.
Lovely staff and a charming rustic decor. A homely and welcoming atmosphere.
Homemade Fish pie - full of flavour and delicately cooked, Served with a side of steamed broccoli and roots.
Succulent and generous burger served with fresh crisp French fries
P. E.
A very nice meal. I had pie of the day followed by Apple and black berry crumble. The service was good. Friendly and polite staff. Not cheap but the quality of the food justified the price. The beer BOB is expensive at £4.00 a pint. Only one negitive, dogs were roaming freely through the restraunt. Coming to tables and customers.
C. F.
Great atmosphere, service and Ambiance - staff were happy to search for vegan wine options and find us a place to sit. Was super busy despite being a Monday, says something about a place if standing room only on a Monday!
S. N.
First visit for a few years. Staff very friendly and attentive. Homemade scotch eggs were delicious. Plenty of seating outside. Lovely gardens. Will definitely visit again.
M.
Lovely food, had equally good food other places so just a little overpriced in my opinion...
A. M.
Staff lovely but felt it was very dark .food nice but felt price bit high for a pub.?
M. D.
Amazing place! Food great, garden beautiful!! Xxx
A. H.
Great food and staff in a beautiful building.
N. G.
It's a lovely pub, visited a few times for food (pre covid) and a drink since. Dog friendly as well so great to pop in if you're walking the dog past the river
A. R.
Really nice place, you've got to book as it gets busy really quick
A. H.
Booked a table for 12 including children for a Saturday lunch time. Service was great, food was incredible (and generously portioned) and there was a good selection of local drinks available. Lovely beer garden too.
L. H.
The food was delicious, service was excellent, cocktails were fantastic highly recommend 👌
A. C.
Very friendly atmosphere, polite staff and nicely done out inside and out. Food was excellent. I had roast lamb which was the nicest I've had for a while. I would definitely recommend that people try this place, the food won't disappoint
B. C.
Super atmosphere, but best bit is the delicious food, enjoyed every minute. 😋 👍
D. J.
The food was lovely and the staff really friendly. On the down side it would of been nice to see a chicken dish on the menue as both myself and another member or our party only eat chicken or fish so we had the fish cakes which were very nice and would recommend . Not sure about large dogs when eating food???
G. B.
One of my favourite pubs to go to in the sun has the most beautiful garden !
j. r.
Main course food was very nice and we'll presented but i refused to have a sweet as i felt that £7 for a small pudding is way to expensive
R.
Nice pub and the food we saw others eating looked good.
Marked down due to some of the staff being quite miserable and unhelpful.
J. W.
Lovely food. Lovely friendly staff and a lovely venue. I would definitely recommend.
M. H.
Really nice food and friendly staff. Superb garden for dining and drinking, great place to visit on a sunny day.
G. N.
Really lovely menu choices which materialised in brilliant food, with wonderful service.
R. b.
Brilliant food great service
P.
Very friendly staff, backgarden laid out beautifully, interior swish. We had the dog with us and they were fine with him being inside but hes a bit bouncy so we Sat outside under heaters. We looked at the food which looked hearty but the wife woukd have liked a vegan option. Still lovely pub look forward to walking down the Frome to it in the summer.
J. S.
Great location and Lovely meal only let down by the portion size, the fish I had was a bit small. so I was a little disappointed.
S. D.
Group of 10 of us on a busy evening were all served excellent food, promptly and with good service with a smile and had a great time. Save room for the Eaton mess, and I heard that the lavender biscuits with creme brulee were delicious. Note for restaurant, parmasan crisp is not vegetarian as it contains rennet from slaughtered new born calves so don't add it to your only vegetarian option by default then charge more if customer wants a different cheese in its place. And, I'm not docking a star even though you forgot to bring my wine and had to be reminded Twice, then delivered a medium but charged for a large. It's no biggie. Other than that, all very good. Risotto (v) (what else!) was delicious. Others enjoyed steaks, linguine, sausages and pie. Would go again.
R. B.
Great pub, with a lovely large outdoor space, to sit and eat in these COVID times. Always a warm welcome and top-notch food served.
R.
Delicious food and friendly staff
J. S.
I had the cheddar burger. I was at first a little underwhelmed by the food as it was just a burger and a few chips in a bowl. The burger was actually pretty tasty but the chips were just chips. It is lacking a special touch.
R. A.
Food is fab, staff are great and surroundings are amazing. Would recommend.
A. H.
Went here for father's Day Sunday roast and I was not disappointed.
Usually I order extra roast potatoes as I love them soooo much, but I didn't need to on this occasion.
A little bit pricier than most roasts, but I do not mind paying a little extra for a premium product. Will go back for a la carte at some point...
N. M.
What these people have done to the horse & gardens is fantastic. The menu is maybe a little limeted. And I don't expect a dish to be sold out at 18:30hrs
But the quality of food & service = top marks
I don't like food served on bread boards. Ask maybe before if preferred
G.
Top quality fresh local food there, I reccomend you book before you eat though as tables aren't always available. It is a dog friendly pub so for anyone that may be allergic or doesn't like dogs, you have been warned.
M. L.
Went for a relaxing lunchtime meal. Lovely food, excellent service.
M. H.
had a fab meal here a couple of weeks ago so decided to bring my staff for a meal as a treat , everyone absolutely loved it ! Most of us had burgers and they were fantastic really good quality, and the home made desserts were delicious, very clean and very nice atmosphere and all of the staff very professional and friendly lovely time had by all .
P. T.
I had a drink there and am a people watcher. Staff are great. Always looking for something to do. Table are clean. Not sticky. Food looks lush. Everybody seems happy with a nice smile.
j. p.
Great food, super friendly staff - the only reason I have not given 5*'s is that there are no soft furnishings so the pub is quite noisy when full (which it is most of the time, so make sure you book). Recommended.
L. V.
Really lovely place amazing venue, great staff and scenery, food looks amazing and plenty of drinks selections behind the bar. Certainly worth a visit i sure will be again.
A. B.
Really nice pub. We had a lovely meal. Good service
P. H.

K. B.
Lovely gardens, friendly garden bar staff..
A. B.
Dog friendly pub. Good food excellent service.
J. W.
Expensive drinks. Lovely place. Owners should keep their dogs on a lead . The dog crapped on the children's play area. Not good for the owner of the pub. ! She knows. We complained.
S. C.
Very nice garden with an outdoor bar, friendly and polite staff, had some food,a bit pricey for what we had,but overall a nice experience.
P. K.
Lovely setting
G. H.
Sunday lunch was top quality. Well worth paying the little bit extra. Friendly staff.
d. g.
Beautiful large garden, staff most reasonable and tho pricey the food and drink were very nice.
B. C.
What a super place. The food is fantastic and I can recommend but it is popular so you need to book early. Bonus is they are dog friendly, well done for that.
M. J.
Lovely pub and meal
J. M.
Great food and staff but no disabled access the only exists consist of lots of steps which is a problem for people with walking disability's. The food is well done and it's a very warming environment
D. E.
Lovely food and good beer but slow service (short staffed in kitchen). Nice outdoor area too. Staff all very pleasant though. Recommended

I. R.
Good food, pleasant staff, good service and a nice environment.
D. G.
Excellent environment...polished friendly welcome and the food well presented....great addition to the food options in the area. Well done for rejuvenating a run down roadside pub and saving it from being yet another small housing development.
s. B.
Been lots of times and never booked so never eaten, this time we did eat and it was very good. One thing I really like is not being asked 'is everything ok with your food'. As the food speaks for itself!
D. O.
Great pub and always busy, although I've never had the luxury of their food I've heard from a close friend who frequents their often it's amazing!!
r. w.

K. G.
Nice pub good food lovely garden
M. T.
Hit and miss....chicken livers were sublime as a starter..but served with bacon that was stiffer than a credit card and toast that was simply burnt.
Worth the cost when good...expensive when average
E. H.

D. S.
Had lunch here at end of October for a work colleagues leaving meal.
Whilst I enjoyed the chilli jam burger, I was disappointed to see that the bun had mayonnaise inside despite not saying there was mayonnaise in it on the menu.
K. T.
