Reviews of Ye Shakespeare
S. B.
Nice atmosphere with yummy pub food! We like this place, they also have space to accommodate any large groups at the back!
J. G.
Myself and 2 friends went for drinks here prior to eating next door at Marcos. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome with one of the bar staff taking our order and offering to bring the drinks to our table. When we were ready for a second drink and as my friend approached the bar the gentleman said “same again?” and brought them over. Great service and lovely to feel a valued customer.. The pub itself is very smart inside with a nice atmosphere. We will definitely be back and next time for longer.
A. G.
Super nice place with very tasty food (the paninis were delicious). And they had my favorite, Bath Gem, on tap! The owner is a lovely man, very funny and helpful. Even saw him escort an elderly gentleman from his car across the street as we were enjoying our half pints outside in the sun. Would definitely recommend stopping in.

I along with my friend went to this pub on Friday Night. I was amazed by the the service they offer with varieties of cocktail. The owner and staff were helpful, friendly and funny that made us feel welcome. It’s the best place to hang out with friends and I personally do not hesitate to recommend this place and will surely visit next time.

Been to this pub many times in the past and revisited today. Really refreshing revamp, food was amazing and home cooked. Hospitality was even better very welcoming and the guy couldn't do enough for us.
Highly recommended...
L.
Staff have excellent banter, food was delicious, good value and high in quantity, good drink selection though pricey, it's normal for somewhere so close to the train station. 10/10 recommend. Will be returning.
R. M.
Very enjoyable visit. Warm friendly welcome, great service and the food was lovely. Ordered 3 small plates, all very fresh and tasty. Would definitely visit again.
C. B.
Excellent, welcoming pub. Great selection of drinks - even do cocktails. Delicious food too. Very close to Temple Meads if coming into station - worth a visit.
M. E.
Stopped here for lunch and a pint on Saturday. Staff are really friendly and the burgers were amazing. Great value too.
M. R.
Great pub, very welcoming. Good beer on tap. Would definitely visit again when in town.
K. M.
Love this pub, great re-fit, very clean and friendly landlord and staff what more could you want!
G. M.
Really pleasant and attentive staff and they had Inches cider which I like
A. G.
Love this nook. Great place to hang out, with good beers. And the people that run this place are warm and friendly.
K. W.
Been a while since the last visit but great pub with a great welcome and thanks very much for the flag. Will be in again soon.
K. V.
Amazing service and a great place for happy hour! We will definitely be back.
J. C.
Went for early evening drink. Hadn't been before but apparently they have had a refurb... Very stylish and trendy. . Lovely atmosphere in here. I think once word gets round it may get too busy but for now I will definitely be back. Hope they can serve food in the evening as well as lunchtime soon too. Would be a great pub for after work drinks.
J. D.
Great food, lovely clean pint of lager and friendly service. What more do you want?!
M. W.
The owner is a friendly and nice place to have a drink!
R. K.
Perfect place to enjoy refreshing drink's.
R. O. F.
Old pub but modernised. Nice pint of Guinness
G. B.
The management are very welcoming. The prices for the area are very good and the atmosphere is great. I will definitely be back.
J. B.
Really nice pub the owner is a legend thanks
K. D.
Nice pub, great staff!
W. W.
Nice pub the staff are very friendly.
J. D.
Great staff and friendly owner would highly recommend
T. B.
Decent little pub. Have been for drinks in the evening and you can get a good pint (some nice ales on tap). Comfortable seats and not overly busy but has a warm atmosphere. Good place to come for a quiet drink with a couple of friends rather than for a boisterous few! Also been here at lunch. Food is quick and very reasonably priced. It isn't top, top quality food but for the price it's nice. Again, wasn't hugely busy at lunch so space to sit and quick service.
E. C.
Recently refurbished giving a clean and light air to the bar, but loses some of the old charm and "cozyness" in the process. Layout and toilet locations have also been changed creating a better flow. Worth a visit, but more of a bar than a pub now.
d. d.
Not a good place to go not at a minimum of £5 a pint
C. E.
Great for happy hour or any hour
N. W.
Good location and great beer. We hadn't fully adjusted to UK time, so ate an early dinner before the larger crowds arrived. The menu selection was pretty good and the food was filling. Seems to be a popular place closer to dinner.
C. C.
Food lovely, and very reasonably priced, there was a small group of us going during lunch and we were able to reserve a table on the day and also preorder our food to ensure we didn't run over our time. Excellent service and very good portion sizes, it is quite small with just a few tables so if you want to go at peak times book ahead! Couple of lovely tables outside too which are lovely for people watching in the sun. Looking forward to going again!
A. K.
Pub is lovely and atmosphere was great. A mates band was playing and it was his wedding do but the prices are far too high so stuck with just the one pint of very nice IPA (gutted). I'd go more if the prices weren't London inspired
J. C.
Good beer and good food, no gastro pub nonsense, just well prepared pub grub. Prompt service from friendly staff and a real British pub feel, the beers are well kept and sensibly priced! Great for an after work pint. I recommend the giant onion rings!
D. S.
One of the oldest pubs in Bristol dating to the 1600s. It is a nice, cozy place that serves traditional pub food with a few modern additions. We didn't eat here but the food that came out looked and smelt amazing. The service was friendly and quick, and the beer was clean and crisp. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area.
A. W.
Slow day only one real ale: well kept. Modern decor. Friendly staff. Outside seating. Happy to return.
A. C.
Nice place to get a drink on Victoria Street in a nice historical building. Unfortunately the inside is does not reflect the age presented on the out. However, the beer and food here is good and the interior is comfy enough. Staff are really nice and well meaning, but could maybe pay a bit more attention to the bar...
p. b.
Relaxed and comfortable traditional pub 10 minutes from Bristol Temple Meads. Limited on street seating. Not a huge selection of beers. Good food menu but not for those on a budget. Rear bar available for private hire.
D. R.
Respectable establishment in a part of town not terribly well served with boozers. About the only venue in the street good for mixed groups. Modest selection of very drinkable beers, and several quaffable bottles of wine in the list. Great friendly staff.
D. A.
Great little, American like sports bar. 2200 started the music, and the guy playing did a good job. Burgers were fantastic, wings were ok. Drinks were a little pricey, but that might be a downtown London average. It was the first pub I've been to since getting here.
Would definitely recommend to anyone passing through.
S. M.
Chilled atmosphere with helpful and friendly staff
R. P.
Mind blowing food and good drinks
t. r.
I was more then surprised how polite and professional stuff is working here. Every since I enter the restaurant I was told all safety informations I need to know. Service was perfect, everyone nice and food brilliant... Will definitely come back when I’ll be around 👍
T. M.
Definitely missing a few tricks. Not a great drinks selection and a few menu items weren't available on a Saturday early afternoon. Food wasn't anything special but ok. Interior was lacking any real charm or character. Prices I thought were a little high. Service however, was good. There are much better pubs within a very short radius including the Cornubia, the Kings Head and the Seven Stars. All of which far better for ale and beer lovers. If it's food you're after, its only a short walk to St Nicks / Corn Street area where there are some great restaurants.
R. H.
Had lunch with a close friend, a lovely jacket potato with bacon, beans and cheese served in no time. The potato was soft and fluffy with just the right amount of filling and very reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly.
M. W.
Decent enough pub, but didn't have any gluten free beer. Was sick dining cider which I'm not really a fan of until we moved venues.
A. F.
Very busy. Looking for somewhere to eat, and this place showed on maps. Obviously popular by the amount of people in. Didn't have to wait long,; portion size big and filling. Friendly too.
D. T.
Meh. Overpriced for mediocre service. Had to wait for the lady behind the bar to prise herself away from her mobile phone before we got served. No introduction, no smalltalk, all very businesslike. The bar was practically dead on a Saturday afternoon, which says it all.
C. M.
Stag Do, came across pub due to hunger, ate off menu 1St night, landlord put on buffet 2nd night great value and food. v friendly and accommodating. Not the Ritz but very handy before the clubs.
C. G.
Good atmosphere, very friendly and obliging service. Food nice and hot. May try again if have time-travelling.
J. L.
Newly refurbished pub. Booked in for food on a Friday night. Quite a large group. Probably a silly time, as it was very busy. Food was generally ok, but unexciting.
A. M.
One of the oldest pubs in Bristol. Recently refurbished, now fairly bland but pleasant enough inside. Ok choice of drinks - 3/4 real ales on hand pump.
W. C.
Excellent food, massive portions and reasonable prices.
Good selection of beers as well.
N. C.
After refurbishment this pub now looks and feels brighter and is more inviting with a good selection of drinks and some food well worth a visit.
T. B.
Its ok, feels quite chain like but I know it's not. Clean and serves food. Good for people travelling from temple meads or staying in nearby hotels
M. B.

S. S.
Old city centre pub average beer selection.
Building very old and historic.
Menu is good.
P. F.
The old landlord was quite rude and discourteous. The place has been done up so another visit may be warranted as it always seems busy at lunch and just after 5pm.
D. S.
Not open at present owing to flooded cellar. No damage to bar areas. So will open soon.
C. A.

Exactly what you'd expect from a pub that sells food. With the world's biggest tomatoes
J. J.
Good for a drink after meetings in the area, but drinks expensive and not all staff are the friendliest.
M. S.
Nicely refurbished and now with FSA hygiene rating of 5!
I. G.
Massively over priced, plus for the price you’d expect Wi-fi
T. S.
