The dock is a very nice place to eat. Very hot with minimal air-conditioning upstairs. The fish and chips were great. Chips slightly undercooked so a little tough. All round great place.

Visited Dock with a friend for some drinks, location is lovely with a great atmosphere. Drinks were reasonably priced and very nice. As we visited on a Sunday we tried to have the Sunday roast advertised on their menu but unfortunately they did not have any. Food consisted of generic good pub food.

Have you ever wanted a fun pub quiz and not just a generic boring one? Then look no further than The Dock. Staff are on the ball and aren't just pretty faces. Atmosphere in this place is top notch, had a Christmas do here and although some of the people that went on the night cant remember the evening, I can assure them it was a brilliant night.

Me and my partner live around the corner from the dock and since we have moved we have been in here weekly! All of our other housemates and us come here for our weekly catch up and when our parents visit us it’s the place we bring them! The quiz they provide the first Thursday of every month is free and insanely so much fun! 5/5 recommend this!

We went for a bottomless brunch here on a Saturday afternoon for my fiancé’s and her best friends birthday! There was 6 of us girls and it’s fair to say Stephanie was a dream, always there to help us and we never went without a drink. Food was banging too, solid 10 out of 10, would 100% recommend.

We had a meal and drinks here on Sunday. My wife and I decided to have the Sunday roast beef. When the meals were served the meat was warm and there wasn't a lot of veg on the plate to go with the 3 roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. The drinks also took ages to arrive. Not one of the staff checked with us to see if everything was ok, even at the end when we paid the bill. We were not impressed and will not be going back again.

Food not great. Drinks were good but service was slow which is a shame as paid for bottomless brunch but had to wait ages for drinks each time so ended up quite expensive for what we had. Meal was missing bacon which they did bring out separately but small size meals and not the tastiest

After an initial negative experience the first time I visited this place I was contacted by the manger who was very nice and couldn't of be nicer. We talked about what went wrong on the first visit and I was reassured the issue had be resolved and was asked to go again. Iv visited a 2nd time with my partner and the experience couldn't of been nicer. The staff was absolutely great. Friendly,polite and very welcoming. The food was good and it was a great atmosphere. Would like to say thank you and will definitely visit again now. Gone from a 1 to 5 star reveiw. Keep up the good work.

I want to the Dock on a Thursday evening a few weeks back for the quiz night and I have to say it was possible the best quiz night I’ve attended, raffles for the Higher or lower game to win a cash prize!! Unfortunately My raffle number wasn’t picked!! I really did want that Lamborghini 😂 The quiz master was super funny and had the whole place laughing all the time. Definitely worth going down there just for the Quiz Master!

The customer service was fantastic! Unfortunately the same can't be said for the food. We had the beef roast. I only ate the beef; the rest was mushy. No bite in the veg and the roasties had no flavor it's as if they were cooked pre service and then deep fried again when ordered.

Took a really long time to get served, three other people who arrived at the bar after us were served before us, the staff seemed pretty badly trained and no one looked like they were managing the situation, the drinks were OK but over priced and quite gimmicky. Wouldn't return here at all.

This is a contemporary bar with multiple levels. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are very friendly. The bars stock a good selection of beers, both ales and lagers. There is a balcony with seating as well as a terrace with plenty of seating. The decor is contemporary with an open seating plan. There's good views of the bay from both inside and out, and are very relaxing. This pub can get busy early evening but gets quieter as the evening wears on. An excellent venue that I would recommend.

This is both a bar and a restaurant. If you're only there for drinks you sit on the ground floor. There was also a one man band. They have a great menu selection which is why I went there in the first place. I ordered the vegan burger, the patty was made from beetroot and quinoa. I found it a bit dry. It think the burger needed more if the guacamole dressing. My partner ordered the Korean steak which was a huge piece of meat in a bone! He enjoyed it. I also had the dark chocolate crème brulé but it was nice but it wasn't really a crème brulé. It was cold and tasted more like a chocolate pudding. Overall the atmosphere and service was excellent.

The Dock is an excellent venue for all occasions. Fantastically situated in beautiful Cardiff Bay, I've visited with friends and family on multiple occasions. The staff are fantastic, truly friendly and welcoming to the establishment. Couple that with some great food and drink choices and you truly can't go wrong. If you're heading 'down the bay' then look no further.

Welcoming staff, and well equipped for covid orders. The food was quick to arrive (less than 10 minutes) and well presented. The gravy for the pie was quite salty, but otherwise everything else was fine.

Wow. Such great vibes. The entertainment in here is so good. There was a great singer followed by a DJ. We had food before we came downstairs to watch the entertainment and it was spectacular for what you pay. So beautifully presented. First of all, beautiful location and the staff was lovely and friendly. I had the butter chicken which was absolutely delicious. However, the reason I'm only giving it three stars is the service was extremely slow. Had booked a table and it was early so the restaurant was almost empty, but we still had to wait for 25 minutes before having to go find someone in the bar so that we could go to our table and throughout the meal, waiting for our food and dessert and then paying, we had to wait for a very very long time. I don't usually mind because I know they are working hard, but the restaurant was almost empty and it still took a very long time. My family who was with me also had the (mushroom pappardelle and prawn pappardelle) could almost not enjoy the food because they were surprisingly spicy and didn't have that much actual flavour beyond that. The Eton Mess was also a bit of a letdown as it was clotted cream instead of whipped cream which made it very heavy. Beyond that, I probably will return to have a drink at the bar while enjoying the location. :)

My wife and I went to The Dock for drinks before dinner. It had a really nice vibe for couples and small groups too. The drink selection could be a bit bigger but what they do have is priced well. I dropped a star because on the night we went it was very cold and the staff greeting people kept leaving the door wide open despite us and other tables near the door asking it be kept closed.

Visited here on the 17th November 2021 to have some food with my family and we was welcomed upstairs by Tyler who gave fantastic customer service and also went the extra mile to ensure we had a good time. We was sat near the balcony looking over the bar area and asked to move into the both (blue sofa’s) Near the window instead as it was a clear nice night to look over the bay and he moved us over with no problems at all!!! we was never without a drink and the food was absolutely outstanding! Best we have had down the bay for a long time. Thank you to Tyler once again for his customer service and good chat we will definitely be back again soon.

The Dock proved to be an excellent venue to host our recent private function for 25 people. The location in the Bay is great, and the upstairs space with the balcony and private access to the bar were super for the occasion. Our contact, Fern, was ever helpful and enthusiastic and she ensured all our requirements were met. On the day, the Dock's hospitality could not be faulted; all the staff were outstanding - very positive and helpful and keen to ensure we had a great function - special mentions to Korina (floor manager?) and the ever-smiling and efficient Cornelia behind the bar. To top it all the hot buffet was to an excellent standard with a large variety of choices. Overall, the Dock proved to be a first-class venue for our private function – well done and a big thank you to all the staff involved.

The lady who greeted was us was very helpful throughout the evening, however there was one small problem. We had a deposit returned to my card and she told us it would be instant. I ordered cocktails for the group and when I checked my account the funds had not gone into my account. I asked to speak to the manager and explained what happened and he asked me to ask someone else to pay for them! We would have had the deposit kept open as a bar tab had we known, so therefore 7 cocktails were wasted. We would have paid for them had the manager not had such an arrogant attitude. It spoiled our evening and we left and finished our evening elsewhere.

Great bar, excellent staff and really nice food. Group of 8 lads and the staff looked after us. They have a few decent beers and the food isn't too pricey. I asked for some hot sauce with my food (most places don't have hot sauce when I ask) and they brought me a pot of some lovely stuff, not sure what it was but it went well with my burger! We were sat inside on a really hot day but the temperature inside was perfect. There's a terrace overlooking the bay which would be really nice to chill and enjoy some drinks, if you can get a table there. Highly recommended.

Good restaurant bar to visit whilst down the bay. Food choice is comprehensive and price are reasonable if you go for the set meals. In the evening the bar is ok with outdoor seating. Coffee is nice if you dance a late brew.

The Dock Bar sits in a prime spot overlooking Cardiff Bay. Open all day, you can enjoy food of a really good standard and a fine selection of ales. For Gin fans, there is a great selection. Outside seating available on ground floor, and a balcony area overlooking the harbour on the 1st floor. A nice place to take in the morning and lunchtime sunshine. Lots of space inside on both floors. Definitely worth a visit.

So today my family and I decided to take a trip down to the bay for food. Every place that we went to was fully booked and we were turned away. We came to the dock where we were given the choice to sit outside but due to having our two very young children with us we decided not to take up the offer. Unsure if it was the manager but he immediately said I’m sure I can fit you in along the back. We were taken to our seats which was a big booth, it was perfect for us. The staff were amazing and the service was second to none. We were told of the new system of ordering our food on the app which came really quickly and was absolutely delicious. The children’s food was a good size for them and we were given a small fork and knife for our youngest, which we rarely get in other places we have been. This was our first meal out since the restaurants have reopened and I could not recommend this place enough. Big thank you to the all the staff!!

It was ok, the drinks were after our starters but the waitress kindly gotus tap water in the interim. The guy at the door wanted to seat us where there was a giant sticker saying don't use this table and when I showed my discomfort he just removed the sticker and said it was fine. We refused and waited for a clean table. Service was slow and there was no hand soap in the ladies toilet when I mentioned it to the bar staff he said he would get it but I ended up getting my husband to fetch some from the mens so my daughter could wash her hands. Not ideal.

Me and my partner visited the doc recently and the food was excellent! I couldn’t fault it at all, gorgeously presented and hot! Not your average spoons cold soggy chips no no my friend. The staff were amazing I spoke to a guy called James he was hilarious and made us feel really comfortable, he made me the coolest g+t with rose petals! The Covid precautions were really good I was surprised to see they’d managed it so well, I didn’t have anyone breathing in my face I was happily sat far far away from everyone. Went down the bay for a bite to eat with the family. We chose the dock and what a great choice it was. Excellent service throughout the visit. The views are nice, the decor is quirky yet comfy as long as you don't get the wooden chairs! The menu was varied but the battered items are very greasy. The food was reasonably priced but is most definitely just pub grub. Serious trouble getting a simple lager shandy. Three attempts before they changed the lemonade syrup even though we stated this was the problem at the start! Staff were friendly and service was good. This gets busy when its warm out so reservations are a must at lunch and dinner.

When I came in I was introduced to the house rules and safety precautions in place by a gentleman on the door, my friends can be quite awkward but the gent answered all their questions making them feel safer. We were also served our food by the same gent later who's name we discovered to be james. Top notch service at the dock!

Wowzers! Couldn't pick. better place to go and have a glass of water! I popped in after a long jog around the Bay and was rather parched, so parched in fact that had I waited a moment longer I'd have run the risk of dying on the sidewalk. The first place I saw close to me was the Dock Bar and Kitchen, these people truly saved my life. I went through the whole track and trace procedure short of breath and my mouth totally dry, I was sat at a comfortable table with a nice view of the Bay. And I thought, "hmmm if I die of thirst here, I wouldn't mind, the views quite nice." I ordered a glass of water and my goodness was it the freshest glass of water I've had in a millennia, and it wasn't because of my senses being raged by thirst for when my wits returned after drinking that lovely water, I ordered a whole jug along with some food and gargantuan amounts of Malfy gin. The staff are next level humans, especially this skinny shoulder length haired gentleman with the pink glasses who looks like he's been frozen in a block of ice since the 60's. They all served me wonderfully and I had a ball! Would highly recommend this place for not just the water, not just the staff, not the just the food, but for the good times man!

It's okay at best but used to be good. Servers don't know what offers there are and didn't know about the student 15% off offer. When I asked if it I was on she thought it was professional to just say 'I guess so' and look at me confused. Oddly the server thought the entire pub had ran out of coke until I showed her it on the app which I didn't use so I could get the student discount. Drink was delivered without any communication or eye contact by a different server (no continuity) and food took a little too long but tasted good. As such you recieve three stars and a strong recommendation to familarise all staff with all offers offered and drinks also as well to ensure they understand competence and professionalism go hand in hand as it does with customer service too. I shall possibly return if there's nothing else witgout a que but cannot recommend you to anybody

I was in the dock last night. It was raining all day and even the weather in evening was miserable. We came into the dock and it was so cosy and warm, they had a live singer in there too who was awesome. We treated ourselves to the festive cocktail menu which were really good. The guys on the bar James and Bob were a lot of fun to speak to and they suggested their favourite cocktails. Our favourite was the yule tide cocktail. Definitely coming back.

If you're in the mood for fish and chips, I'd recommend the actual fish and chips over the sandwich. I don't think the sandwich came with enough actual fish, but the battered fish is extremely good regardless of how much you get!

Not impressed. Arrived with friends at 16.00 to be told that there were no free tables upstairs for the rest of the day, and they weren't serving food downstairs. We went elsewhere, and could see several (over ten) free tables upstairs every time we looked. So they weren't full at all! There are so many good places to eat in Cardiff Bay that no one can turn away custom. =========================================================== Following an amicable exchange with the he Manager we were given a free meal, which we accepted. The service was excellent, and we have been back several times. This must have been an isolated incident.

Great location. Great food Fabulous staff. Try the 3 little plates for £12.50. Salt and pepper squid, Crab cakes, halloumi chips, chicken wings etc etc. Lovely variety. 6 plates between 2 makes a good meal. Try the coconut rice pudding or the churros to finish. You won't be disappointed Visited again today 18.11.2020 after a gap of 8 months due to Covid. Initially I was disappointed to find that the menu had changed and my favourites were no longer on there. I needn't have worried. All the new items were just as good if not better and cheaper (£11). The dessert menu has also changed and my favourite churros are no longer there but the sticky toffee pudding was a good substitute. We would like to say a special thank you to Henry and the team for making us so welcome and for following all the covid rules so well. We will be back.

What a shame the pretty good food and drinks (and excellent waiter calling himself "Lightning Bolt") were ruined by the abysmal initial seating and "welcome". After booking a table for 12 (and confirming mid-week), we were given a table for 10. When moved to another (with some huffing and puffing), we still didn't have 12 seats, but promised we'd be given the extra seats we needed once everyone in the group had arrived. Once everyone was there, we were 2 chairs short. Despite the fact we were there and ready to order, we were told that the extra seats were going to be a problem, and would 2 bar stools be OK (bearing in mind we were at a low table). Finally, Lightning Bolt got us the 2 seats we needed and was great for the rest of the dinner. The upstairs eating area never filled up. What a shame The Dock appears to value later bookings than a table which was already there, drinking and wanting to order food.

The best thing about the Dock bar is its location. It is the best place in the bay if you want to have a pint and watch the boats coming and going. The interior is comfy with a range of chairs and the overall atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing. The menu looks well thought out and different, however I think it is pricey so I haven't tried it. How it compares to other bars in the bay is simple - there are better pubs and bars, but often when I go to the bay I really fancy a view which the others don't really have. Its closest competitor is the Mount Stewart (weather spoon) which is also near. The dock is preferable when you just want a drink as it has a better view, however the Mount has a much bigger out side area, but both are crowded in nice weather. Usually, I take a look at the type of crowd in both to choose which one to sit in. The mount does have a good well priced menu, but if I'm out with elderly people the Dock wins as the toilets are on the ground floor, the stairs to the Mounts toilets are a bit off putting to some.

Good quality contemporary pub food. There was a beer festival on when we visited so there was an array of quality beers to choose from straight from the barrell. The service was slow however, we waited a very long time for our desserts. They seemed to be understaffed. Yes the Urdd Eisteddfod was on down the bay but it was far from full.

Enjoyed the soft shell crab and beef (surf n turf) burger, sweet potatoe fries were a little cold and tasted 'floury' hence 4 stars. Coffee was very good. All food swiftly delivered. Didn't try the ales or beer but seems to have a big enough selection. Right in the middle of the docks so it's close to everything.

Had a lovely couple of pints on the upstairs balcony overlooking the bay. Covid rules spot on. I can't believe they are talking about shutting pubs because of Covid as all regulations here were being followed. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that if you shut pubs early people are going to carry on drinking with friends in each others houses. The pub environment is far safer providing Covid rules are being adhered to as they were in The Dock. Will call again.

on whatwould have been a quiet thursday, the lack of staff on duty made a quick lunch a lengthier process. After 40 mins waiting for a coffee i was told that it was my fault the coffee took so long because i had sat down, despite being told it would be brought to me... nothing a second pair of hands couldn't sort out. The bar server was cheer personified. The management less so!

Not a huge fan started with their crab cakes. £6+ for 2 TINY cakes with withered salad greens & a piece of lime that should've been binned the day before. Complained to manager who agreed to take them.off the bill (he had to, there was no way I was paying for them) & comp'd me my drink. Later the waitress told us they'd had soooo many complaints about the crab cakes & their size relative to their cost. However, there is an up side. The pork belly was AMAZING. Moral of the story? Skip starter & go straight to the pork belly!

Nice bar and food, great place to sit outside watching the world go by. Usually quite busy, but this is due to its prime location in the bay so if you dont like crowds might not be best place for you. I find the prices are ok, and quality of food and drink is good. Only note I would make is at times they don't have enough bar staff which can be frustrating.

Modern bar in a great location overlooking the bay. Inside the space is filled with light and they have some outdoor seating at ground level and a terrace. They have a good selection of gins but I wasn't impressed by the Brains beers they had on draught. The staff were friendly but I just found this bar to be lacking some soul.

my husband and i re visited cardiff and we had to go back to this pub as it do beautifil inside snd out .staff are super.very friendly and polite nothong to much trouble the food is excellent.i do not understand why people are writing negative about this place. if there is a problem why not speak to a member of staff if not happy ask to speak to management . this place is to die for it is so brilliant .yet again great service and food.thank you to all for an excellent pub with all you need. for a great experience. i think that people should think twice before doing a review. and i feel that thode who are negstive sbout the pub are eithrr not been or just fake to try and get freebies. it should be where .did you speak to the mananger first. most probably not but still ate all your food. if the food was that bad why go back for a another. many thanks for everything shirley n steve woodward.

Am amazing venue right on the sea front but drinks TOO pricey. Staff friendly but to few of them so run of their feet. Need extra staff and to review their prices as there's at least 2 other bars with 2/3 of the prices. Extra cushins on sofa's for the vertically challenged.

Great food and value let down by poor service. Extremely long wait to be served at our table and had to approach a member of the team to take our order. The same story when we wanted to order extra drinks and get the bill. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy and it was only 6pm.

This place used to be called the Terranova before they refurbished it last year.... I understand that the food prices are very high in there considering it's a pub.... I've been there loads of times and I recommend to go there just for the views.... The prices have increased and there's other places down Cardiff Bay where you can go to and get the pint which is a lot cheaper.... But if you're looking for somewhere special quiet and just a little bit outside the box this is probably the place to go to.... There is music in here but no TV sets

The gin selection, all wonderfully paired, is a must try - as are the cocktails. The food is very good as well - but the choice to serve in baskets is often infuriating and inappropriate for the meal (it's not too bad with a burger, but fish and chips is a nightmare). Thankfully, you can ask for plates and they are only too happy to oblige.

Visited during England v Wales rugby match, although we sat upstairs to eat. Brains "Ale Wyn" bitter was superb - I hope they don't throw away the recipe after the 6 Nations Food and service were both good, but I would have preferred to have had my burger and chips on a plate rather than served in a wooden box, which I found awkward to eat from.

The Dock is a modern, airy, family friendly kind of place. The the kind of place that tries to be all things to all people. You'll see couples here, families here, you'll see old, young, locals, tourists, the lot. I actually think it does a reasonable job of being inoffensive to nearly everyone. If you're walking down from the city centre take Lloyd George Avenue, not Bute Street. I took latter and had the pleasure of passing a couple openly smoking crack in a phone box in broad daylight. Not exactly what you want little Oscar and Isabella to see on a family outing to the pub.
