Very Welcoming Staff, resolved an issue / confusion with booking so I wasn't left waiting around. Staff were friendly & communicated well & explained how to use App for offers, Good Deals & very reasonable prices, clean venue and very accommodating to my needs, Good variety of Food & Drinks on sale & covid guidance in place. Nice Decor too
E. H.
Absolutely love this place. Great atmosphere, cheap cocktails (that taste great too), amazing food (I only had the Drunken Mushrooms and Fries).
The service is great too. I ordered fish and chips on the O'Neill's app, but a staff member informed me that the kitchen had closed and offered to go to the chip shop across the road and by me fish and chips from there as a replacement. That kind of gesture is what separates O'Neill's from most chain pubs.
Would highly recommend.
L. T.
Great atmosphere, extremely friendly staff that helped me in choosing a tasty meal and a nice pint with it. Loads of TVs to watch the sport too! Will definitely return.

First time visiting here yesterday as we have always gone to The Yard across the road. I have to say it is a big improvement. The last time we were in The Yard for an international game it took 40 minutes to get served, in O'Neills it took 40 seconds!! Very impressed and will certainly be back.
W. B.
Excellent mixed grill at a reasonable price and a good atmosphere for a Wednesday early evening.
Lewis the server had a big smile on his face and was very attentive as he served me.
N. A. t.
Nice atmosphere, really friendly staff, airy, relaxed kind of place. Reasonably priced drinks, very good selection
C. L.
Very courteous stewards.
A big plus as I had my elderly mum with me.
Busy but still clean.
Good selection of draft beers
Recommend a visit

Professional and the cocktails are amazing, can't fault the technique!

The staff are friendly, it's a clean bar to visit with friends on a night out. the security are welcoming all around a good place to enjoy a night out.
R. G.
For a day when the phonics were playing in the stadium it was rammed to the rafters but the staff were quick in getting customers served
L. (.
Really great food and drinks. Really fun band and music, had a great time
E. T.
bar staff were amazing, especially Tom and Sam. would love to come here again!
D. G.
Stopped in for a brief visit on a Wednesday evening. Plenty of customers but we found a table straight away. Good value for money in a city centre. Did mot eat on this occasion but have in the past and it has been very good. Would reccomend.
G. G.
Went upstairs in 2nd floor for match day, loads of people on bar waiting to be served but ended up getting good service by man in a blue shirt with a moustache gotee and an young Irish man who looked to be enjoying themselves. Prices bit high but match day expected tbh- will be back again for some more pints
G. T.
Great atmosphere with music. Staff were very accommodating. Would recommend downloading their app and booking a table prior to going.
J. H.
Came in with the family today. We were not disappointed at all! The team went above and beyond to make sure our experience was top class! Thank you all.

A. F.
Great spot, good atmosphere and courteous staff. Always worth stopping in for a bit of food in the day or a pint in the evening. 👍🏻
I. H.
Don't advise it on match days, absolutely rammed.... Not their fault, looks like a decent bar normal times, good selection of beers etc.
B. F.
Went to Irish music night in oneills.
Had a great night. Great atmosphere, great venue and very helpful bar staff👍

The food was amazing, very friendly staff, exactly what you want after a hard day shopping

An excellent range of craft beer and ales. Music was rather too loud, but I'm aware that I'm showing my age 😄
J. G.

Best place to celebrate St Patrick's Day

Visited this pub during an extended trip to Cardiff. The staff were pleasant and helpful, doormen were courteous and the beer was cold and of good quality.
Very clean tables and chairs, nice to see in these Covid times.
C. B.
Lots of staff to serve and friendly. Very comfortable environment with great ambiance. Food was hot and served quickly. A lot of alcohol choice and a lot on tap. Definitely will be visiting again!
E. m.
Excellent venue, good vibe and music.
Had burgers which were well priced and tasty.
A. G.
Very nice pub. Haven't been in before as I always thought it would have been a little shoddy inside but actually, it's a very nice bar, modern and have a great selection of drinks.
P. M.
Lovely lively town pub. Good food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff
T. T.
Very good food, friendly staff and a nice space. I would certainly recommend it!
S. B.
Good atmosphere, great music, close to principality stadium too
W. P.
Great post rugby match drinking joint, particularly if you like a bit of banter with the away fans.
D. M.
I must say that the bouncers had to remove 2 people while I was there and they did it calmly and professionally especially the tall guy. No confrontation and no aggression
E. S.
Awesome atmosphere, good vibes & music all night
S. J.
Enjoyed a few hours here with friends last night.
The door staff were chatty and welcoming, explained the track and trace system and showed us to our table. The app for ordering drinks was simple to use and the turnaround time was quick.
It was strange to see a bar, in the city, on a Friday night not crammed full of people but it was clearly exceptionally well managed and I hope when restrictions are lifted, their business returns to normal.
J. G.
Came here Saturday evening and was met at the door by two very informative, helpful doorman. Got lead inside by the host who reiterated all the covid guidelines inside and was very pleasant about it too! Ordered food and drink on the app with no problem with it all arriving quicker than you could imagine. Very friendly helpful staff, clean toilets and clear social distancing inside. All in all, very happy with my visit. I will certainly be coming back on my next visit to the city centre. Thank you
s. d.
Strange experience but staff were good and food tasty and hot. Lovely guinnes
L. W.

Great time with the French supporters. Prices were reasonable and the atmosphere buzzing!
D. S.
Very nice breakfast. Quick service considering how busy was on Match day
A. R.
Amazing quick drink in relaxed settings after a long day at work. Perfect.

Went on a Thursday night, had some amazing food, lovely solo acoustic live music from about 8 onwards, really good vibes, will definitely come again in the future
G. I.
Lovely food, atmosphere, lovely staff members, me and friends really enjoyed the place 5* for sure, a must visit place.

Having visited this venue Friday night, I somehow lost my wedding ring whilst out with my wife... many frantic phone calls saturday morning seemed fruitless and I gave up.but Sunday morning I had a call off the general manager Joshua clegg and to my amazement he said that have now found my ring.
This is excellent customer service and I want yo thank the manager personally for his help.
K. K.
Great night out, live band was fab! Would go again.
k. h.
Pie was good, not sure it's a cheap pint in there anymore
S. D.
Lovely pub.... keep it up to get 5stars🙂
J. K.
To begin, the Staff were very friendly and I could not fault them. They were great when applying COVID-19 Guidelines. The Service in terms of how quick the food and drink were delivered were great and the drink and food came in good time. However the food is where you lost the star.
To begin the chips and mushy peas were cracking, cannot fault them but it was the fish that i questioned. As anyone who knows a good fish, it is supposed to be flaky and fall apart both on your fork and in your mouth when you bite into it. However it did not meet the standards that i expect for a fish that i was charged £9.95 for. It was way too greasy and had a taste that i did not like. The grease had seeped through when i had pressed my fork upon it.
Another thing to notice is that a lot of the drink and food menu was out of stock which was disappointing.
So if you get to see this review before you go then stay away from the fish.
C. W.
Nice pub well worth a visit
L. D.
Always like coming in here... the staff are always friendly.. the door staff can be quite iffy at times, they look like they dropped a dirty brick in the trousers at times. Past that though, drinks are great and prices ain't too bad either.
P. D.
Wonderful atmosphere on a mega busy day, efficient and friendly team, big thanks to all the team 👍
m.
Wonderfull staff, great feel and atmosphere - highly recommend went after the rugby and was an amazing time !! (also left my wallet and they very very kindly posted it back to me !!)
d.
Awesome place . Was just passing after work and heard the band at 1730 . Cardiff is lucky to have so many live music venues playing music all day . I'm from Plymouth and its rubbish .
M. R.
St Paddy's day here, great atmosphere and live music.
J. H.
Always great food and great portion sizes. Lovely helpful staff and great music on the weekend!
E. G.
Visited the pub for the Wales game , as well as for the odd work lunch this week . Staff are always upbeat and friendly, all covid messers were in place and did not feel oppressive at all . Order through the app which was straight forward. service was very fast even at peak times and quality of drink was always spot on . Food selection was also very good value for money , highly recommend the cottage Pie .
t. p.
Great friendly service, good variety of drink & food.
J. S.
Visited the Pub on a recommendation form a friend that always said the place was a fantastic location.
To his credit I was not diasapointed at all, firstly the pub is positioned perfectly on st marry street , close enough to the train station and around the coroner to the Millennium Stadium ( not a big fan of the new rebranding of the name) . It is also close enough to a vast array of clubs and other pubs should you wish to travel around a bit .
I was greeted at the door by a warm and welcoming host, who I did not catch the name of sadly , but he was a fantastic and informative host who made you feel welcomed and safe as you came in to the pub . I am sure all the staff are the same but if ever you visit the pub and you have a male host with red hair you are in safe hands .
Form looking around the pub everything was clean , and in working oder all the staff looked happy, which I take my hat off to them for , it has been a hard year for all of us especially the hospitality industry and for the staff to still have a smile on there face speaks volume about the management and care to its employees this pub has.
As all pubs in this trying time I was told to order through the app , which although a bit confusing at first was fairly straight forward after a bit of help form one of the staff members, I believe he was called Lewis .
Though there were no cask ales on at the time of my visit , the selection was still vast , I settled for a Hope House 13 , which sadly is being discontinued by gunnies ( so stock up all you can ) . From ordering on the app to it raving at my table must have taken less than a minuet , if something it was to efficient as I was about to head to the toilet when my pint arrived, but I was assured by a male staff member with incredibly long hair ( much to the envy of a balding chap like my self) that the pint would be safe as I went downstairs.
Toilets were very clean and bright , which most pubs now a days seem to forget and go for a dim and dark approach which is nonsense. By the time I got back up my pint was still cold and tasted brilliant.
Though I did not experience the pub in its prime , with the buzz of the weekend and loud music as y friend describe it to me , I Still enjoyed every second , its very hard to find a pub where all the staff members look happy and wanting to work in this day and age . Thank you O'Neill's Cardiff for a fantastic and warm welcome and a brilliant afternoon . A pub truly setting the standard in Cardiff!

From the doormen to the staff, friendly and inviting. On a weekend outing from Plymouth and we must have stayed 6 hours or so until the football and boxing finished. 👍🍻
I. P.
Good place for a pint after work or a get together with your mates. Live music, good selection of pints.
B. S.
Here for hols, day of arrival I chose here for mixed grill. Meats were plentiful & filling, chicken wings meaty & crispy skinned, a bonus for me. However bringing them out together spoiled the main dish, going cool. Nice, clean & spacious place with friendly staff.
K. H. W.
Can't fault a good steak 🥩 at o neills
G. O.
It was packed there Manchester United was playing Manchester City. But a great pint of cider there, and a big screen to watch the football on.
B. V.
Lively atmosphere and controlled traffic by security. 10 minute walk from Principality Stadium and good post match spot!
A. P.
Friendly door staff helped find my bag when I thought I had lost it
a. e.
Excellent selection of beers and really enjoyed my pannini with a good portion of chips
J. M.
The new lunchtime special menu is much improved. Nice size fish and chips. The sliced (wafer ham) ham and eggs replaced by a proper 7oz gammon steak with fried egg.
All for £6 which includes a soft drink or an extra £1 for an alcoholic one (from a set selection).
Service is also always friendly
S. A.
Went on a Mon night, and was a bit empty. Seems OK place.
J. G.
Nice spacious bar. Called in for a Christmas lunch and pleasantly surprised at the range of lunch meals available for just £5. Good alternative range for the vegetarian/vegan choice as well. Decent size portions and great service. Would happily go back.
A. H.
If you want a packed bar for the football this is the place to go
B. S.
A very busy pub, but large enough & well staffed to handle the numbers - especially with Wales being shown on live on the many TVs around the pub.
Good food quickly prepared and served well by the helpful staff. Enjoyed our lunchtime visit so much that we went back in the evening.
E. R.
Great live music and atmosphere!
A. F.
Nice breakfast. Nice atmosphere. Very friendly staff even early on a Sunday morning
S. M.
Fairly decent sports bar, but “Irish” in name only. Nice for a quiet pint outside of peak hours, and the food is surprisingly good. Can get very busy however - get your seats early if heading for a game.
J. H.
What lovely, helpful and friendly staff here. Very clean premises. Wide range of beers/lagers on tap. Look forward to my next visit
D. S.
Friendly, helpful staff. Great music, excellent selection of tasty food. Wide variety of beers on tap. Conveniently located near the Royal Hotel bus stop. What's not to like?
T. T.
Very good pub. Great for live sports and a large variety of draft beers. Food is very nice although the last few times I've been they do seem a little understocked. Service is always friendly and it's never too busy... Unless it's a game day in Cardiff, in which case, good luck!
J. P.
Awesome venue for meeting mates, watching sports or live music!! Staff were very friendly and helpful...there were over 15 of us in the group with a works party...we all had the burger and a pint deal which offered a huge amount of choice, with something for everyone, came out all together in next to no time and was really tasty! Crazy value for money too especially with the awesome drinks deals...made our kitty go the extra mile...Cheers for a great night!!
G. P.
Its your typical pub, staff were friendly came and took orders, felt safe as all covid precautions in place, toilets were clean and drinks were average price.
C. G.
Great place to eat and drink. I mainly come here for the Irish breakfast because they have some amazing sausages. The size of the breakfast is huge and although I never order the biggest, I can barely finish my plate. Great value for money and friendly staff.
S. N. S.
Very helpful staff, quick service! Would definitely recommend. Little one spilled a whole pint of apple juice and they couldn't have been more helpful.
a. w.
Always a great atmosphere, but can get a little too full. The place is always bouncing when they have live music on. Alcohol is decently priced but at times you can be waiting at the bar for a while. Definitely worth a visit if your in Cardiff for a night out.
J. B.
Went here on a Sunday night for their regular live mic night with their regular house band. The music was really good, the stuff you can sing along to. Loads of choices of beer, craft beer, cider and a decent choice in the menus . Staff are always happy to suggest a good pint. Definitely recommend.
S. C.
I really enjoy a trip to this Irish themed pub. On my last visit there were two different stag parties from Dublin which made for a great evening. Don’t try to speak to the staff in Irish, as I said it is Irish themed. Good beers, well kept and a lively atmosphere.
J. R.
Lovely pub to visit. Staff are so welcoming and friendly. Great food and drinks available. Definitely reccomend this pub.
S. D.
Good, friendly and fast service.
C. R.

M. N.
Lovely place to have food and drink. Although the app can be a pain at times I did order food and drink from it. Quick service and staff are lovely. Great family environment too. When food arrived it was quick, hot and most importantly good food!
S. P. J.
Good value pub food, great service whether it's by app or heading to the bar.
A. S.
Great English break fast. Cozy and good service
F. M.
Great spot any time of day. Were in Cardiff for the weekend. Arrived here Friday lunchtime and had a few pints and some food. Plenty of space good selection of beers and food. Returned 5 o'clock on Saturday and the place was rammed. Managed to get a table and added a few more as friends joined. Stayed here well into the night, watched some sport, live band followed by a dj. Great night.
G. A.
Lovely place, breakfast was amazing, friendly service. Very pleased. Definitely reccomend it.
t. k.
Great service and excellent food thanks for looking after me and my son's Anthony
D. C.
Good hand hygiene, nice spaced out seating area inside and out, food was decent quick and fairly priced, very strong smell of bleach from ladies toilets, friendly staff
C. W.
O'Neill's a lovely bar especially when it's quiet and you fancy a chat / goss. Good food and friendly staff. It is ideally suited for shoppers and sports fans as its in the heart and near the Millennium Stadium. Gets lively on the weekends and whenever there is a match in town. Enjoy.
E. W.
Good scene, lovely staff
D. J.
Drink and food before concert, very busy but made to feel welcome
M. M.
A great Irish pub. Nice food, some decent vegetarian options too, which is always a nice thing. Quite a good choice of beers, alb surprisingly not very expensive. Sport events on a huge screen, my friend loved it ;)
g. c. (.
Good food nice music
D. G.
Door staff nice talk to you with respect, drinking music very good
R. T.
You can tell that this place would be buzzing when there's a big game to watch on one of their many TVs. As it was, I visited on a Thursday night, where they clearly didn't anticipate that there would be much custom, as there was just one poor girl left on her own to handle twenty or so thirsty punters. As a result, service was pretty slow. Toilets were located down some stairs, and were pretty clean. What the place has got going for it is its size and location. There's loads of tables and chairs, space outside, and its located in a busy high street in central Cardiff.
S. B.
Good quality drinks, friendly staff, and reasonable food prices. A good option.
d. l.
Good price on food. Helpful staff. disable friendly xx
N. c.
Ok nothing special
It's a bar
J. J.
I always enjoy going into ONeill's week days or weekends. because theres always a real good atmosphere. Specailly when the Rugbys on. And they also serve food. Which is also very tasty. The staff are friendly and polite and quick on they're feet to serve you. Prices are pritty good too. That's why I gave them 5* thanks guys........ JAY
K. S.
Amazing place and lovely staff!
C. B.
Great place to stop off for a drink or two, but I wouldn't recommend for food.
Granted it was a little busy at the time and the wait for food was explained but to have wrong meals come out first and then have items missing off both meals when returned was rather disappointing, personally I won't be eating here again but I will pop back for a few more beverages.
K. M.
Nice looking venue with a good breakfast available, the only down fall was the toilets! omg seriously I was sticking to them with every step and the smell was dreadful! so advice would be don't sit next the toilets if eating here
S. E.
Had a refurb in spring 2017... and looks like every other bar, artisan filament bulbs, exposed bricks etc. Burgers, pizzas and steaks on the menu, lots of fizzy beer on keg and 4 cask ales on (3 Brains) during my visit. It's a perfectly fine, clean bar - there's a lot worse in the city centre. A lager and a cider =£8
r. w.
Good vibe..went for a retirement party..no trouble fast service.good selection of libations👍
D. P.
Whenever my wife and I are on holiday in Cardiff we make a b-line to O'Neill's. Me being Irish might sway the issue a wee bit. Staff are very friendly, welcoming and hospitable. My wife tells me there's a good selection of wine and the Guinness is good. Roll on our next trip to Cardiff.
J. R.
Watched the England game here, the drink offers were incredible. Ran out of a few food items but it was understandable as they were extremely busy. Would definitely return on a non match day
L. R.
OK place, meals were a bit small. Sauce bottles empty and really nasty dried up sauce around the tops. Route too the toilets was smelly and the floor was sticky. There was a good selection of drinks.
v. r.
Great place to watch rugby.
D. C.
Great staff, enjoyable atmosphere.
M. N.
We do love this place as it's lively and drinks are cheap..only draw back is drunk men/boys can get a little too much!! Practically dribbling over every woman that dared to give them eye contact...but I suppose it what you should expect for a Friday evening?
t.
Friendly staff nice drinks.
C. T.
There's a great range of seating in this place.
Small tables raised up with great views of the TVs for watching sports with some mates. Large tables for a group meal and some drinks and some drinks
And some drinks
And bar stools! Not just at the bar, BUT AT THE WALL!
So you don't have to look at another human while you swiftly drink away your sorrows. But that doesn't work does it. It sounds like the waves of booze should wash your sorrows away. Like it was just a stain on the sand.
But it's the other way around. The ocean is the sorrow. The deep, dark, uncaring ocean. Unfathomably deep. The drops you drink just disappear into its vastness.
They add to it, but you'd never notice.
The waters are so dark. So so dark.
And there are no waves. The water remains entirely still. There are no fish. No life at all.
But deep deep down. In the cold. In the pressure.
There is something. It lurks and waits. For you.
It will devour you.
It's not coming to get you.
It is content to wait until you come to it.
And you will.
Y. V.
Great little place to grab a few pints and have a bite to eat. Some TVs to watch the match too. Nice place. Friendly staff and good service.
C. V.
Great Cardiff bar, always friendly from the brilliant Doirman to the staff inside...under current circumstances they all go that extra mile to ensure we had a great night...see you all next week...
J. R.
Went in to watch the rugby. Fabulous atmosphere as always. Had the bacon & cheese burger which was delicious (100% better than Time & beef) 👍
J. s.
Good venue and space. Good quality food and variety of drinks
G. Z.
Really great place to watch the rugby, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Does get packed so make sure you get here early if you want a seat. Prices are OK.
M. S.
Fantastic value for money - great cooked breakfast
C. W.
Busy venue during peak times and sports events in Cardiff and on TV. Good for groups of mates. Loud and roudy atmosphere during weekends.
G. D.
Called in Sunday night had a pint of magners and a gin and tonic came to 6.80. Went back up for a pint and a gin no tonic 7.05. Apart from the prices charged by different staff seems a nice place.
M. D.
Much better after renovation, check voucher cloud for offers on food, menu is good value even without that though. Good selection of drinks and always tend to go there when in Cardiff.
C. J. T.
What a hoot. We fell in here and until one of the party decided to redecorate the walls and floor with heinous amounts of stomach everything was amazing. Great crowd great service and even after said incident there was no hassle and great attitude to having fun and serious drinking...
J. C.
Great food and lager
A.
BREAKFAST REVIEW: Went in for breakfast after a night out, had a sasuage and egg bap and a cappuccino which were very nice! Irish recipe sausage was beautiful. Definitely a step up from Weatherspoons and worth paying the extra in comparison. Good service, nice clean surroundings, plenty of TV's, good selection of tap beer / ales. Only gripe was the toilets, not the cleanest and the lock was missing off one of the cubicals.
Will definitely visit O'Neils again for breakfast and investigate a visit on the night. Thanks.
Y. B.
Doormen got us a table straight away
Nice cocktails
Good atmosphere
J. P. R.
Great staff great hospitality Greek food enjoyed it with my children
G. P.
Always live music in the evenings (at least every time I've been there anyway!) Good atmosphere and enough bar staff on duty to make sure you're not waiting too long for a beer!!
N. C.
My favourite pub in Cardiff, friendly & great atmosphere always in this pub.
G. R.
Great pint of Chieftain ipa, best mixed grill about and great service using the app.

Good dancefloor and seleçion of beers/spirits -- top service too

Good price, the sharing platter is massive portion and good quality for just under £10! Live bands play here too which adds to atmosphere
D. B.
Had a great night out on Saturday, atmosphere was great, drinks were flowing and everyone was having a great time. Hats off to the DJ who really did a storming set. Will be back!!
S. H.
Great pub, great atmosphere and served quickly on a Saturday night. What more could you want? Live band you say? Yep had that too
G. C.
Great Irish bat and the lunch menu prices are very reasonable. The service and atmosphere in here are also great and have no complaints about the food.
J. E.
Had a really good time here.

S. W.
Sexy Gareth gave us a wicked buffet and a cheeky smile. He also looked after my needs fully and I’ve never been the same since xxxx

Good small english breakfast for £2.99!! And unlimited tea when you pay an extra £1! Pub is pretty tidy inside.
M. J.
Band was fab, cheap drinks considering we were in the City!
G. D.
Place is great! Good prices and brilliant staff. The new app though still needs a lot of improvement with working properly!
M. S.
Large selection of drinks, a little pricey. Usually has live music too. Attracts a good crowd with varying age groups.
C. G.
The only issue I had was my phone wouldn't scan the barcode so had to something a little different
K. E.
Great atmosphere to watch the rugby. Jam packed of course but well worth it. Need more bar staff tho!
D. L.
Can't believe I'm giving an O'Neill's five stars! Perhaps it was because I work in London, but I was also pleasantly surprised to get two large (decent) whiskeys and change from a tenner.
P. P.
Very busy there but I was served quickly. Luckily, a table became available as lots of them had signs that they weren't available.
A. G.
Great place for a pint. Always there on SGP weekends. Could do with a few more staff on event days. Long wait to get a drink
J. H.
Friendly, helpful & accomadating staff. Great disabled access & facilities. Good served quick & was hot & tastey. Affordable & great quality. Would visit again
R. G.
Power supply at table. Food was ok. Breakfadt till 12.
Revised: they had no fishnchips. So we took burger and pizza. The burger was okay. The pizza disgusting
C. C.
Food amazing. Lovely and clean restaurant. Great prices no complaints
R. A.
Nice pub and friendly staff but both times I've been there have been multiple dinner options unavailable including the single vegan option.
S. E.
Fast service, great atmosphere, friendly staff. Will be back
N. T.
