Beautiful find . The bar maid open up the choc bloc gin and encouraged testers. It was nice to try new drinks. The bar staff so friendly its like walking into a friendly local . The band got everyone dancing . Everyone danced loved it .

Cosy place and retro modern feeling! Good service and "delicious" drinks! Quite large place if you counting the outside places! Considering the blend between a bar and theatre it perfect for the lovers of laughter and spicy conversations and interesting smart people! Interesting corners for a quieter conversation! Place outside for smokers! I liked it very much and recommend the experience! We’re back at the end of September 2018!

Porters was the kindest bar/venue I've ever been to. I've only been once so far, but a man at the door told us all about the events, and when I exclaimed surprise their quiz nights are free and that other bars charge he said "they're shafting you mate." I saw a gig there, open mic night for first year music students at USW, and it felt like a great big party of family and friends. I will absolutely recommend Porters.

Amazing venue! Went to watch a friend do a gig there tonight. Atmosphere was amazing; really chilled and relaxed. Good choice of drinks and fair prices. Looks like they do lots of different events, too, judging by the leaflets left on the tables. Definitely recommend!

Great atmosphere and good beer selection. I went to one of their sing a long nights which admittedly didn’t know a lot of the songs but still good to see everyone embracing the night. Nice large smoking area with comfy seating. Toilets are a bit meh but that’s the only bad thing to say. Thanks for the good night

I love Porters, it's a really friendly pub with great beer on tap and in bottle. Always there for the weekly Sunday pub quiz as well.

Having not been here for a few years I was immersurably happy to see it was still it's good old self. Always busy without being too busy. Often a good band and always a good crowd. Not too young in attendance and up for a good dance. Definitely a recommendation for anyone to visit either a local or a visitor. Also fantastic place to watch the rugby.

Lovely place with amazing atmosphere! The drinks are very decent price with student discounts available. Especially worth a visit during one of their bandoke or Musical Sing-along nights, sometimes even with star guests like Lin-Manuel Miranda! Definitely worth a visit

A truly unique central Cardiff bar. Good booze, great entertainment, and a strange yet brilliant beer garden beneath the underpass. Toilets are a bit "agricultural", but overall it's a very cool venue.

Difficult to sit down and see/listen to bands if you're interested in the music rather than self indulgent loud conversations from others. Does get really busy at times and when this happens it is a poor music venue but probably a great social meeting place. Not for me most times. Still worth visiting though. Must be really disappointing for some bands. Free entry mitigated by drinks prices.

Brilliant bar with the best atmosphere in Cardiff. Always a great night due to the entertainment they host and the environment you are in, it's a mix of vintage, retro and trendy making it a very interesting place to spend your night. Service is always great if a little slow at the bar during busy times but that's just what happens if a place falls victim of its own success so speaks more about its quality.

Came here for the pub quiz whilst on holiday and it was amazing! Clearly a student bar - but everyone seems to know each other and everyone gets on. 10/10 for the quiz master in both hosting skills and quiz creation - we were suitably stumped throughout. Bit disappointed the bar team won though, house wins I guess! (Joking aside) When we come back to Cardiff we'll be visiting again.... and getting more jelly beans...

Recommended by a friend and I'm glad I took his suggestion. Really cool looking bar. You have to know where it is to find it otherwise you'll just walk past it without realising or you'll accidentally stumble into it and have a rather pleasant surprise. Awesome food for good prices, especially to share. Great outside seating, situated underneath a car park ramp and near the underside of a rail way bridge, sounds dingy yes but they have managed to make it look and feel comfortable. If all of that doesn't sound cool, well the bar has its own cinema. I'm not talking about a big screen where they play every football game but an actual cinema.

An amazing place to relax after a long week. My friends and I go there almost every Friday and we really enjoy it. They often host events like stand-up comedy and live music so it's always a nice change.

Really interesting time. Stopped here after a night exploring Cardiff. The place was packed. I stepped up to the bar and heard some local boys ordering up rounds of Coors Light. Maybe I heard them wrong because from where I come from thats not the greatest beer and why not enjoy the local brew lol, its a lot better than Coors trust me. I was here with my father and we were enjoying some nice pints. We had a blast. I went up to the bar and ordered a final round and there was a local woman there who had a few.. she was yelling somehthing at me. I coudnt tell if she was hitting on me and wanted a date or if she was mad at me. We had a really great time here. If you are in the area do stop in for a pint or four

Always a great vibe with live music. If there was one pub I couldn't only go to in Cardiff it would be Porters. Plus they do student discounts on drinks during week days which is a bonus.

Hard to go wrong with a night here, regardless of whether you start here or it's where you end up! Great drinks selection, great entertainment throughout the week and always service with a smile. If you need somewhere trendy, classy but not pretentious and most of all fun, Porter's is always a good shout.

There's a reasonable range of drinks here and the pizza is actually pretty tasty. I think the prices are a bit steep though. Five years ago, the décor was fresh, but it's getting a bit tired now and I think a tenner might be a bit rich for a pizza with a pre-modernism base, no matter how much cheese you load on there. Not bad, but it just doesn't have the slightly upmarket feel you're paying for.

Quaint city center pub/venue that doesn't look or feel like the rest, with unique events on regularly. Excellent selection of 'different' drinks, but still drinks/beers/spirits you actually want to drink. Could be a little cleaner(sticky tables and a bit rough around the edges) but that adds to the 'independent buisness' feel. Super friendly staff and importantly very friendly door staff(a rarity in Cardiff). A gem in Cardiffs generic pub scene. Only down side is the 'beer garden'. It's under a car park(they can't help this tbf) could be set out better with actual furniture rather than old cinema chairs and sofas(I understand that's part of the brand but still). And could really do with more heaters! A must visit though for people coming to Cardiff. I hope they don't get priced out of the city center!
