It was our first visit to this restaurant and we were pleased. Food was lovely, clean tables and utensils, very well looked after by Laura. Fairly priced, homely atmosphere. We are like to return again and recommend to friends and family.

I organised a charity quiz night at The Plough. They were amazing and really pulled it out the bag on the night. Super helpful and friendly staff. And really went above and beyond to help make the night a success. Special thanks to Laura, Alfie and Emma for all your hard work. X

We visited The Plough on 19/04/22. We were served by Cerys, she was very knowledgeable about what was available, I had the soup to start, one of the nicest soups I have had in a long time, and it was recommended by Cerys, a very good choice. Cerys was attentive, cared about the food and our comfort. She came and asked us if we were ok and was there anything else she could do to improve our experience. We would definitely return, and recommend The Plough to family and friends. Well done everyone who made our visit so pleasant.

Visited over the busy Bank Holiday weekend and was late in the evening but the staff still looked after us and we got our delicious meals in no time at all ⭐
F. L.
Regularly attend The Plough, the staff are friendly and attentive. The food is great! Always piping hot and delicious. 10/10 from us!

Visited today. Was absolutely lovely. The best staff, very helpful and friendly. We chose the "Bread of Heaven " starter to share....simply perfect! We couldnt finish it all and had the remainder wrapped to take home. Mains were a Taverners burger for me, and a steak pie for the other half. Gorgeous. Cant fault our experience today. Thank you Plough, we look forward to seeing you again soon!
P. L.
The plough is always so friendly and welcoming! The staff are great, been to many family fun days, quizzes and Sunday lunches. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious food in a great pub!
D. W.
The venue was very nice. Very cosy.
The food was ok...nothing special and the choice was ok. I ended up having the burger, and my wife had the chicken pie. The food was really nice just the portions on the small side.
The staff seemed really nice, but the pub seemed understaffed for a match day. Which maybe explains why the long wait for food.
I wouldn't be in a rush to go back, but if I was in the area again I'd pop in.

I've had two meals at the Plough and enjoyed them both. The staff are lovely, the food has been really nice and for our meals the service was really quick but also the staff were considerate if you wanted time betwen courses. Everyone in the pub seemed to be enjoying themselves too!
H. D.
Friendly bar service, good atmosphere, great selection of drinks. Outside space and plenty of indoor seating. Great village pub!
M. D.
Great welcome from the staff ...they found us a table although we had not booked ....we had the Sunday roast sharer which was plenty for two .....just brilliant...
j. w.
Staff still lovely but food not up to pre COVID which can't be helped as basicl brains menu. Still a good place in the village though
N. W.
Wow what a find! So lovely inside. Great food. Table service. Clean toilets. 2 and 3 course set menus avaliable. Real fireplace. I will definitely come back here when we r next in the area.

Went here last Sunday as I am on a search for a decent Sunday lunch that gives vfm.
I would not recommend The Plough to friends as I know that they would be disappointed, like I was at the meagre vegetable portions.A few tiny roast potatoes were hidden beneath two slices of meat.
I even had to pay a £2 supplement for a few pieces of Cauliflower.
It would have been nice to be asked if we would like some more vegetables, potatoes or gravy.
That kind of gesture elevates an average meal to a meal that I would be happy to have again or to recommend to friends.
I. W.
Great little pub made very welcome shown to our seatd (covid regs) just in front of a real log fire food excellent quality and a good rage of beers staff very friendly and knowledgeable about there range of beers
F. M.
Had a wonderful time our bar tender (James) was a good laugh and made our night. Like to see it when someone enjoying their job.

I've been dining here all week, for lunch. And can honestly say that the staff were all very pleasant and friendly, happy to help....I tried a different meal each day and each one was excellent. Service was excellent and the meals were great value for money. It's a shame I'm only here for the week, as I could have tried other meals in their menu 😊. Next time I'm in Whitchurch, I will definitely be dining here... Thank you to everyone at The Plough. You're doing an amazing job x
J. K.
We were a group of 17, out celebrating my grandson's 18th birthday. A large group. We had good service and lovely food.
K. P.
Food is pleasant and reasonable. A number of dishes were unavailable to us which limited choice
G.
Typical Brains pub. The cost of a pint of Guinness is exorbitant though - £4.70 against the Three Elms at £3.45. How is that justified?
P. Y.
An amazing experience, all the staff were fabulous, polite and genuine. Food was very good to, definitely go Back again. Merry Xmas to all the staff at this brill establishment.
S. W.
WOW took my granddaughter for breakfast with santa youngest of 3 this is the best experience I have had since taking the 1st one 11 years ago and every one since. Full marks for value for money.... Santa's interaction with the children the craft table..... and lovely gifts. We'll done all the staff for making this special for everyone expecially this 66 year old grandma
C. B.
Well situated, good pub grub, nice choice of beers and great service - Kudos to James for making our night even more enjoyable!
T. F.
Excellent food and service. They even had gluten free sticky toffee pudding :-). Fabulous!
C. K.
Good atmosphere. Friendly staff. Good selection of drinks.
M. C.
Lovely staff gorgeous food lots of outside seating
M. T.
Went for Sunday lunch with the dog, bar and waiting staff excellent and although the food seemed a bit slow coming out (it was quite quiet as well so unsure why) when it arrived it was absolutely worth the wait. We’ll be back again for sure!
M. B.
Great beer selection and was looked after really well by James all night!!
c.
we were seated quickly and ordered drinks and food quickly
J. L.
Lovely roast here, the beef was so soft and delicious ! Prompt and friendly service and activity pack for our toddler.
M. C.
Very pleasant areas. Great staff. Usual Brains menu with plenty of choice and food well-cooked & hot.
G. P.
Excellent standard of service and much busier than the last two pubs I had been in before. No nonsense polite marshaling of customers due to covid restrictions. Not only can I say that it was "just right" but the best pub in the Village by a landslide.
S.
Great atmosphere but a little pricey.
J. H.
Staff polite and attentive. Good food and good value
G. M.
Lovely food - staff were brilliant and really friendly the barman I think his name was Mike/Michael was also really friendly and didn't stop!!! Glad to see business was doing well during these turbulent times. We felt very safe.
B. M.
Such a cosy and aesthetically pleasing environment! 100% would recommend to friends. Stayed at the bar so can't comment on food. I was served by a girl called Grace and she was super helpful and friendly. Drinks were reasonably priced too! Especially when considering the lovely vibe of the place.😊 Loved it!
M. P.
A regular pub for me as a local resident and this place has changed significantly from it's private landlord ownership some years ago. Now a flagship Brains pub and restaurant I must say they've turned this place around in the last year or so. The bar offers a good range of guest Ales and high end beers/lagers on tap along with the well stocked spirits shelves offering a bewildering array of gins. There is a large restaurant at the rear of the pub and the meals and service have always been good. Highly recommended.
M. V.
We got there a little late so a few things not available like roasties tartar sauce but the meals were good value and quality.
j. r.
Love the atmosphere, always uplifted after we visit. Staff are friendly, always a smile on their face. Food is great
D. W.
Really like this pub - food & service is very good, Nice atmosphere and a lovely courtyard to the back especially when the sun is out great area for lunch or evening food/drinks 😊
M. A.
Great little local pub. Has an outside seating area. The staff are friendly. The food is typical Castro pub with some specials and extras thrown in. It’s very good and we all loved our meals. The Tao selection is pretty small and I would recommend they get a decent rotating as the natural oats tasted like feet.
T. S.
Very lively pub. Suits most age groups. Comfy seating and a cosy feel. Drinks quite pricey. Didn't eat there although there was a food menu and eating area. Not particularly a family pub in the evenings. Friendly staff
L.
Had a nice afternoon here. Many thanks to James for looking after us!
J. S.
Went to this lovely pub for the first time yesterday. We were welcomed and shown to our table, staff were polite and friendly. We were given plenty of time to select our choices from the menu. Food was piping hot and cooked to perfection. Time given in between courses to relax and chat. ResturaRes and ladies room were clean and nicely decorated, didn't go into the bar area but looked good too. Will definitely be visiting again.
r. l.
We just spent a very lovely afternoon in the restaurant booked out to our group for the Xmas lunch. There were 60 people to feed and it was all done efficiently and with a minimum of fuss. I had the smoked salmon served nicely with apple straws and the lemon sole which was presented well and cooked perfectly. The vegetables, served as a side were again cooked to perfection. While I didn't have dessert all around me were making the appropriate noises of satisfaction. Well done to kitchen and serving staff.
S. L.
Lovely food and super friendly service
d. h.
Covid 19 regs are spot on. It gave me confidence on our visit.
Staff were polite and very helpful.
Clean establishment which you can see straight away.
Food was brill and drinks were good.
A GREAT experience.
m. k.
Had Sunday lunch, nice but not as good as it was pre covid
A. R.
Must have been good as we're going back tonight 😊. Only problem as that last orders was 9:45 tonight due to getting staff problems.
R. R.
Again not Ruth its Howard, pleasent enough, nice staff.
S. D.
Fab pub with a pretty beer garden! Visited for a few drinks on the weekened and throughly enjoyed our time there. Staff were friendly and drinks brought to the table. Will definitely be back
L. E.
I quite like the Plough despite the slightly negative reputation it has. The front area of the pub is lovely and cosy, and has a great atmosphere on weekends, however the back is soulless. It's a local pub and seems to have lost it's way in trying to be a little more than what people want it to be. I think if the back was more like the front area, it would be much better attended. The food is lovely, especially the duck broth. A greater selection of beers on tap would be beneficial!
M. D.
This is one of the go-to pubs of my parents in Whitchurch, and I can see why. It’s cosy, the food is delicious and high quality- the pizza we had in the restaurant was slightly over cooked and chewy, but everything else I’ve eaten there has been lovely. They do great deals, so it’s worth checking it out if you’re after somewhere reasonable on a weekday. It’s easy to get into the centre from there and generally travel links are pretty good (sundays, as in most of Cardiff, can be quite difficult to get a bus or train, so take care.) There’s a lovely open beer garden at the front, dogs are welcome and there are normally some cuties to pet inside the pub.
M. A.
Pretty decent, well above average pub food. Nothing astounding but as good a non-specialist menu as anywhere else I've tried locally. The restaurant area is very pleasant with a nice outdoor courtyard space.
Staff where excellent.
J. G.
Lovely food and staff are helpful and friendly. Wheelchair access is via a ramp which staff readily put out when you press z button. Good access. We had a wonderful eve.
M.
Great food, very busy and the staff did a great job. People just need to be patient sometimes and be thoughtful to staff who are just trying their best to serve you.
R. H.
Excellent food although service rather slow. Had to wait 20 minutes for someone to come back and take our dessert orders. Actually they didn't come back I had to go and find a staff member and tell them we wanted to order. No excuses either as there were only 2 other tables occupied at the time!
J. D.
Lovely lunch on a damp day. I had a very filling, fish gougon sandwich, which was very tasty & great value for money. Efficient friendly service from Carys.
K.
The plough is a nice pub although a little on the expensive side for where it is. There are cheaper establishments in the village. It's comfortable inside and affords a very friendly environment. The food is quite fancy and not for fussy eaters.
N. S.
Brains pub, better than a good Wetherspoons for food but in the same vein. Beer is well kept, but both food and beer over priced. Atmosphere was good, warm, soft lighting, comfortable.
L. R.
Local pub to visit which is dog friendly.
M. D.
Great food and friendly staff
J. B.
Excellent food so much choice service very good will definitely go back
E. C.

B. W.
Had a meal with my family at the plough on Sunday evening. Very enjoyable. Food very good value for money. Hot and tasty. Relaxing atmosphere after a very busy Christmas. Friendly staff. Thank you.
M. S.
A lovely local pub in Whitchurch who welcome families.Good food and polite welcoming staff.
D.
Fantastic spot to sit outside and enjoy the weather! Pints are expensive (£4.40 for San Miguel for example) however it's worth it for the convenience of being within walking distance.
A. K.
Great pub in the centre of Whitchurch village, the ale is good, but the food is a little overpriced. The pub is no longer a locals pub, but more of an attempt at being a gastro-pub based on the food prices anyway. The food was reasonable, but not worth the price charged!
I. R.
Lovely warm welcoming hosts with a really friendly family atmosphere. Food is at a really good standard. Really enjoyed my stop there
S. C.

E. P.

S. M.

The poshest pub in Whitchurch. Good food and wine. Not laid back though, if you bring young children here expect a telling off from the little old ladies at the next table.
J. K.
Was a very good experience staff were amazing and very helpful. Would definitely go go back.
L. J.
Excellent pint of beer, and we'll organised with regards to Covid precautions, very well managed & complements to the manager.
P. C.
Nice food
M. B.
Nice dining room, good staff, but food probably £2/3 more expensive than it should be for the quality we had.
L. F.
Parking can be a problem. Polite and helpful staff. Although, the service was slow. Even though it was a quiet evening. The food and drink was good.
S. F.
