Reviews of The Foresters Arms
M. P.
Fun, friendly and cozy local Colchester pub. Slightly tucked away but well worth searching out. Friendly and professional staff, good food and importantly clean beer. A nice changing selection of Ales. Definitely one to recommend. A large car park is situated close by if that’s your thing, bus stops also a two minute walk.

We had a lovely afternoon in the Foresters with friends. Lucy kept the drinks flowing, while Louise prepared delicious meals which were then served by Linda.
It's a really nice old pub, made all the better by the wonderful staff.

Called in at the Foresters Arms tonight while in the area . If happened to be steak night so my wife and I had steak and a sweet and got a free bottle of wine . The steak "Ribeye" was cooked well and the meal was excellent. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble . I would visit again and would highly recommend.

I visited the foresters arms tonight for fish Friday and I was overwhelmed with both the quality of the food and the service I received. Special thanks to Louise the chef, Easther the bartender and the kitchen porter with the long blonde hair.
M. B.
Had a fabulous afternoon yesterday. Linda serving the food. Lucy serving drinks and Louise cooked the most amazing cauliflower & Lentil pie. When I asked for cheesy mash they said your wish is my command. Perfect. 3 hours we spent in the pub. Perfect.

Came into here for a quick drink, before checking out the town itself. Absolutely amazing service. Very quaint building. Daryl behind the bar was very welcoming and polite. Great selection of bar snacks and drinks. Will definitely visit again.

What a lovely pub with great staff.
Although close to the town centre the location gives it the feel of a country pub.
Great beer, TTaylor Landlord and fantastic Guinness, and we all had the Sunday roast, which was really good and nothing was too much trouble.
Linda and Louise cooked up the cracking roast and drinks at the bar were served with a smile by Daryl.
You've got to go there, you won't regret it, now my favourite pub in Colchester.

Came across this place whilst on a weekend away. Darryl the manager was exceptionally friendly, gave advice and directions when requested. We were made to feel very welcome. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the vibe was great. Everyone was friendly. We went out of our way to return later in the day for food after seeing a selection come out earlier in the day. The food was hot, fresh and cooked to perfection. I don't normally write reviews but felt that this place deserved the time. Games were available to play, entertainment nights were clearly displayed. Both family and adult friendly. Very professional and kind.Couldn't recommend more and hope to return on our next break away xx

Nice traditional local. 2 regular ales, aspell cider and the usual lagers. More ale bottled (but refrigerated). Cheap food of large proportions and cheery staff
G. B.
Quaint interesting pub with good beers and ciders. Does have a good menu but I did not try the food but will go back another time.

Come accross this little pub, not far from the Castle unexpectedly and was greeted with a warm welcome from Daryl, well kept draughts beers and a nice chilled atmosphere. We were made to feel very welcome and we now look forward to returning to check out the open mic night on Wednesday!

Have wanted to come back here for some time and we were very lucky to get in today, fairly last minute booking and were not disappointed. Amazing home cooked roast beef with the most amazing gravy. Sadly missed out on the cauliflower cheese but that’s clearly because it’s so good. So we’ll have to come back to sample it another time!!
B. W.
Warm welcome at this pub this afternoon. Good food at reasonable prices. Missed out this time on the cocktails again a good price.

I went for coffee today, the coffee was very nice and delicious, the workers were friendly, Darryl helped us and he was very respectful and happy to do it, I will visit again and I highly recommend it.

Warm welcome. Good wine. Lovely little pub.

Popped in for a swift pint whilst heading back home walking my dog Lola. Very welcoming, staff and customers alike. Resident dog is friendly, unlike mine, but no issues. Will be heading back for food as I've heard the Sunday roasts are the business.
Z. E.
Quiet place. Family friendly. Nice food and an easy atmosphere. 🙂
K. D.
Good prices. Cocktails weren't available. Interior is warm and inviting. Rubber calamari.
L. M.
Love it decent pub good food only thing I would change is make the seating outside more comfortable.
M. L.
We were served by Esther who was lovely. Great food, drink and lovely music 🎶
I. Y.
One of the best real ale pubs in Colchester. It is well situated on the edge of Castle Park and is in a quiet residential area. In Summer the outside, pavement space, is an excellent place to relax and enjoy a drink.
R. J.
Great cosy pub. Friendly clientele and staff. Some music and events. Open mics on a Wednesday 8pm.
H.
Great Dog friendly pub with friendly people and live music, also has a resident dog and cat so definitely one for animal lovers, no Peroni on tap but they have Amstel on tap so a close 2nd
T. C.
I always have a great time. Truly a neighborhood English pub, with great atmosphere, tasty food and friendly staff. The other customers are always up for conversation and fun. I enjoy every visit.
K. H.
We had a loooong lunch here after a morning of shopping. The cocktails were fresh and handmade, they went down way too easy 😍. We had a cheese board and some sweet potato fries, which accompanied the cocktails so well. The staff were friendly, and very helpful. Such a lovely atmosphere. Really enjoyed ourselves. They also have a cute little shop inside too.
j. c.
Enjoyed a lovely couple of pints outside this really friendly pub before the fireworks tonight two really nice blokes behind the bar, will definitely return to try the food
N. W.
Probably the best roast I have had in a decade!

Fantastic Fryday fish and chips at the Foresters Arms in Colchester. Great atmosphere, friendly faces, and a special thanks to Louise in the kitchen and to Jamie, very busy front of house. Nice fresh selection of beers and lovely onion rings too. 👍
M. R.
Just had a lovely lunch with friends this afternoon. The cheese burger and chips was delicious and Michelle's service was super friendly and courteous! We all agreed we would definitely have lunch there again soon.
N. F.
Lovely little pub always has a great range of rotating Ales on tap, ciders too. Bar staff are always friendly and it manages to feel out of the way of the hustle of the main Street despite only being on road back. Good little haven in the city to escape the shopping. Keep up the good work chaps and chappettes!
L. R.
Great service and tasty pub fare. We were looking for late night food as my flight into ottawa was delayed. They serve full menu until 11pm! Nice to enjoy a glass of wine and meal after a long journey.
A. S.
A very nice small local pub with (a relatively small selection of) delicious food. Sunday roast and desserts were gorgeous. Loved the friendly atmosphere.
J. B.
I have enjoyed drinking here in many occasions. The atmosphere is always friendly. This pub attracts a lot of local regulars but all are very friendly. Prices are average. The decor is great. Modern with a lot of wood. Makes a great place for a weekday drink but can get very packed on a Friday night.

Me and my partner went to the foresters arms last week and was served by a waitress named anita who was very friendly and made sure our stay was perfect. Food was lovely overall a wonderful experience.
C. H.
I had seen on Facebook that the Foresters had a new chef and menu, so we went along for Steak Night and we weren't disappointed. The steak was cooked beautifully and the food was all reasonably priced. The pub had a great atmosphere and we were made to feel very welcome. I will be returning soon with the rest of my family.
S. P.
Best pub in town - friendly, professional staff, good selection of food and drink, all the correct Covid measures, and an excellent, relaxed atmosphere.

A nice traditional pub in the heart of Colchester. Hidden away behind the Greyfriars hotel. Seating outside along with a few tables inside. Clean and tidy with friendly staff.
A. S.
Relaxed atmosphere, one of the best roasts I've had in a long while! Highly recommended.
p. l.
Nice pub. Wherry on tap. Lots of live music nights. Good quality folk session last Sunday of each month. Books to read and exchange and board games to play. Had a great Genga night recently. Lunch and snacks too. Friendly atmosphere.
T. T.
Lovely little gem just outside the castle park.
There are a few tables out the front of the south facing pub so when the sun's out it's a suntrap to say the least. Not much of a view but the beers makes up for that! Try the Staropramen 🍻🍺
J. C.
Delicious Full English Breakfast, perfect coffee and burgers. Very kind service, great choice of music. Visited twice and will be coming back!
