Fantastic-looking old style building, both inside and outside. We've found a local ale served here too, which was a nice suprise. The less interesting part was the fact that this seemed to be a sports pub more than anything else, so they didn't cater to those who would rather prefer listening to some good music whilst enjoying a pint during the day; which is a shame really, as it's something a lot of people would probably love to come here for.

Have been for lunch here a few times now. Although the food is good and there is a good selection generally, there is not much by way of vegetarian options. Also the meat free burger has such a silly name it's embarrassing to ask for it (just my personal opinion) even so, the staff are friendly and service is generally quick.

Friendly 500 year old pub. Big garden nicely laid out with the addition of a marquee. Pub big enough to create an eating area and improve food offering but still a great place to visit.

It was very quiet when I visited on a Monday so we sat inside. Use of track and trace was insisted on. Pleasant and efficient table service. Ghost Ship and Doombar on draught.

After being in lockdown for all them months we went to the marquis for a well deserved beer , with all the changes they made for you to feel safe was next to none , brilliant , asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside , asked to follow the appropriate one-way system which we did, got to the table , asked what drink we wanted , no wait , got our drinks within 5 mins , then after that the server came around about every 10mins , very efficient , so had a great afternoon in the sum in a pub with good atmosphere , so if you want quick service and feel safe this is the pub to go to , thank you for a great afternoon

Cracking Sunday roast ... lovely friendly staff and a wonderful old building. Go try it for yourself, you will be impressed

Good selection of drinks, friendly staff, darts, pool, several TV screens, jukebox, fruit machines, occasional karaoke and a beer garden. Pub snacks (crisps, etc) are available. There are several areas to the pub, so even if a game is on, you can hide away from it all. It can get quite busy on a Friday and Saturday night, but quite cosy at other times. The building itself is beautiful and incredibly old; tall people will need to watch their heads in places! It's not the kind of place that has trouble, the management are pretty good at keeping the peace. A nice place for a chat, to watch a game or to get your weekend going.

We were in on a Friday night (kareoke) there were three of us sat at the back of the pub. Three Mancunians 250 miles from home just having a beer. Then the singing started. We picked ourselves up from the floor after the shock of hearing such terrible singing, but noticed that the place was rocking, almost everyone was joining in, and shortly later we were too. The singing was awful but now we were all singing. The beer and the music flowed. It was my first visit to the pub for forty years when I was stationed there. We left after many beers and songs and really enjoyed the evening. Big thanks to the pub.
