My partner and I have always heard great things about Colchester’s night out. We wanted to give it a try and had the walkabout recommended by a friend who had been there a few times. We gave it a go and had a blast. On arrival, at the door we’ve met a young man by the name of Johnny who was there accompanied by 2 bouncers. He was very welcoming and so we made our way in. Once inside I must admit, it wasn’t what we expected at first. There was rugby on the telly and so we thought, “have we come all the way here from Ipswich to watch rugby?” Then all of a sudden it turned into a full on night club. We had the best night and one good constant of our night was the young man we’d met on the door. Because we had told him we didn’t live locally he made sure to come over through our time there to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and having the best time we could possibly have. Thank you Johnny for making our experience that much more special. You were an absolute gem and we will most definitely make the trip again to have ourselves a good time and we hope you will be working when we go back. Thanks Johnny and hey, 5 starts to you young man. Great people skills and customer service.

The atmosphere was great, we felt safe and the staff was really nice. We don't tend to talk often with people outside our group, but we randomly met this guy from the staff, someone called Johny, and he was amazing, had no problems at all with sharing his experience, I definitely will try to visit again. Love the atmosphere at Walkabout, it's always my favourite place to go to on a night out. Jonhy is a bartender there and always takes care of us, which we appreciate massively! He's always so kind and sweet to us. I always look forward to seeing him when we go there. So much fun! Definitely recommend!

Five stars! I went in last week with a couple of friends and it was absolutely amazing. The food was great and the service even better: they were friendly and never let our glasses go empty. I would definitely recommend going there! Our server was Jonhy and he helped us choose our drinks and overall made us all laugh through the night.

Wow, what a venue. Had a wonderful experience there. Grace and joe are so bloody cute! I hope they get married and have lots of children. The drinks were faboo and I felt like a little girl at Christmas the whole time! Will definitely come again, if not to look at grace and joe with a starry eyed gaze, hoping I will find a boy that comes close to joe, and a girl as close to grace!

Went to walkabout colchester recently. Was served promptly by a guy called Harvey and he made sure to serve me very quickly most of the night from what I can remember. Granted, the dude looked creepy as hell (somewhere between a ventriloquist doll and an actual corpse) but other than that he made a decent drink everytime! Would defo go back. Harvey may want to consider some cosmetic surgery though!

Walkabout is nice and large, modern, fun fresh bar which does table service only at the moment. Staff are friendly young and happy to service your needs. The bar also offers a range of hot and cold food which I didn't try. The bar does have security if anything kicks off. You will have to book for popular football matches and other popular sporting events. It has lots of TV screens where you can watch football if you like the sport. If you like COCKTAILS, It has two for one cocktails pitchers for 12 pounds on the WEEKENDS along with a large selection of drinks. Toilets are clean and modern. There is lots of seating and private booths to sit it also. Almost forgot it has a pool table which is £1.50 which I consider expensive. All in all a good place to go and it's more like a sports bar than anything else. Average age of customers is around 25.

Anyway staff are good and nothing wrong with the place but at the end of the day prices speak, you would expect a chain bar to be cheaper than an independent pub like Spoons but oh no. £4.85 for a Stongbow!!!! A new record price for that drink in Essex, cheaper in parts of London. £5.30 for a bottle of Rekordlig!!!. Some astronomical prices going on here. On line a food menu is provided, no prices shown, lol. I am not a robot!

Went here couple of weeks ago with a group of 12, pre rule of 6. Lovely bar, great for football TVs everywhere!Make sure you book early. Staff work hard and friendly. A particular recognition to a young blonde lady who was in charge of seating organising. She ensured our group was able to have a table and were happy. This is a lovely hidden gem. I love the ambience the open fire creates. The staff were very friendly and professional. The restroom was clean and of a good size. There is loads of parking with easy entry and exit. Their priced are very reasonable as well.

The staff here were ace and my friends and I were having a nice time chatting away and catching up. Then the kids arrived and the night started. When I say kids I mean the Uni and college folk and for whatever reason they turned the volume up so loud that you couldn't actually hear the person next to you without them shouting in your ear, there's just no need for it to be that loud.

Walkabout is a chain of pubs from the Stonegate Pub Company, they offer sports TV, gaming machines, pool and music. Sure, this type of pub is targetted at the young, but if you visit at quiet times even an older person liked me can find the Walkabout a very decent pub. Plenty of beer (lager, no real ales) selection and very good service in the Colchester one. It's a thumbs up from me.

Had many a great nights here, the half price from 5pm on sundays is always a winner. Wanted to especially mention the bar man that was working on the night of Bugzy Malone, dont know his name but baring in mind it was packed, after 2 times at the bar i'd say "same again" and would get myself and my brother our drinks. Real credit to his team, wearing a chewbacca onesie on halloween, thats the only way i can identify him! Will definitely be returning!
