R. X.I went to this venue as it was recommended for good pub grub but I wasn't over-awed. The Mac n Cheese was £7.50 and wasn't very big, it was actually quite small for the price. The panko calamari was dry and overcooked.
It was... OK, white sauce was lumpy so it wasn't great. My partner enjoyed his carvery though, clearly more time and money goes on this than other meals. Also, a dangerous safety feature I noticed was a cable was sticking out of the ground outside in the carpark, was a clear trip hazard and the electronic box the wires went inside was opened, so any child who might stick their fingers inside might get a nasty shock.
Probably won't bother coming back.
H. T.The carvery was decent, hit the spot with what we were after. The only thing that let this visit down was how hot it was in there! We visited during a recent heat wave so understandably everywhere was hot but I think there may have been more they would do to make visitors more comfortable. Maybe some free standing fans dotted about the place to circulate a bit more air?
Other than being too hot when we were there we were very happy with the food and service.
N. P.I go for breakfast with my dad and children occasionally and the staff have always been really friendly and helpful and the place is always clean. The food is lovely and there's a decent choice breakfast items on offer. Child friendly and for the most part, it's pushchair and wheelchair friendly (only a small section with a couple of stairs). Ample free parking available and fairly well priced
F. M.Great carvery in the week. Can get a bit busy, and tip: the regular carvery is too big unless your starving. Try the small. Regularly there. Ask for Carol, she’s the one who is always happy. Nice layout and comfortable surroundings. Careful of the carpark entrance and exit onto the road.

Katrina was friendly, polite and made it fun by challenging my 5 year old to eat his carvery in order to have ice cream. The carvery was delicious yet again. Thank you for another amazing visit and keep up the good work - customer service makes a difference!
j. m.We visited on Sunday evening after a long drive and wanted a hearty carvery. We were not disappointed. We both struggled to finish and felt very content.
The staff were attentive and saw to our every need. Eirean and the other staff were friendly chatty and happy to help. I would recommend eating here and will be back again
J. W.We were part of a large group, previously booked in, and although the food was excellent, the service needed to be improved. Perhaps they found themselves short-staffed at the last moment, but it would have been nice for the courses to have been eaten at the same time for everyone. Different choices were served with great time intervals during the same course. Some had almost finished before others had even been served.
We have always had good service before and so tonight was a little disappointing.
C. S.I went there with my 2 very good friends for a Lunch and the Food was lovely. I have been there a few times before and I will go back there again and it only cost £4.99 for a small meal as I cannot eat big meals at all. And the Staff there was really nice and very helpful.

t. b.I and 3 other women went for our festive lunch, we were not disappointed the starter I had was beautiful, the mushrooms, but my friends had prawn cocktail and were disappointed as the prawns were not fresh but cooked in bread crumbs so not really a prawn cocktail, carvery was right on the money , it was beautiful and the meat was great, all but the beef a bit fatty, but ok to eat. The only thing was we ordered the festive menu and NO pigs in blankets when we asked, and they were 3 for 99 p, so we didn't have them. The puddings were delicious 😋 um um , the staff helped us so much and as I'm a user of a mobility scooter nothing was too much trouble for them. Even helping me to download the app to get a free drink for one of the girls. The only person who let the team down was the carvery server, so rude to one of us over the beef being a bit fatty, rolled his eyes at her, and then only gave her a little bit of turkey. Revenge for asking about the beef being fatty, not good hey
M. P.The Food, the Staff, the Venue - ALL brilliant! 12-13 of us came to have a funeral wake with a carvery on 21-11-22. Sinead for her help and friendliness, Emma & Carol for their exemplary service, and the female Chef on 21-11-22 whose name escaped me for obvious reasons (and for taking a couple of photo's for us).

everything you expect but nothing more. not a great selection of Veg, meat is as expected, but the mint sauce had far too much vinegar added to it. ended up making my meal taste like vinegar instead of mint. I also prefer a slightly thicker gravy - it was very watery.
The people working there are friendly and helpful though.
D. F.It was our first time at The Walsgrave and we were given an amazing welcome on arrival. The staff were well presented and so very attentative to us. We chose the Festive menu and carvery and it was out of this world. We had the Prawn Cocktail to start, which was really tasty and the prawns were really big. The carvery was fresh and hot and super tasty. To finish, we chose the Chocolate & Salted Caramel Duo, which was a chocolate lovers paradise.

Have given it an easy 5 stars for all round service, quality of food (we both had the carvery), value for money, table service by a group of very hard working youngsters...Max was our waiter and was a lovely, hard working young man. It's a great place to go as a couple or a family and we couldn't fault it. Very very impressed...will definitely be going back in the near future!

If you like a carvery, try the Walsgrave. I am pretty sure you will not be disappointed!

Here's a thought; if you pay a visit to the hospital you could round off the health session by a meal at the Walsgrave. It's just just down the road from the hospital going toward town.

Its very hard to find a pub these days that has that family feel to it, but the walsgrave has it! my children love it and the staff are so friendly and polite and nothing is ever too much trouble. I love that the kitchen staff will also have a conversation to customers even though they probably have a lot on. I visit once a week and so I am aware that Bernie is the Manageress and she also works alongside her 3 daughters although I'm not quite sure who they are, but maybe that is why if feels so homely. Great place to take the kids or just to relax in general.

C. M.1st time eating at The Walsgrave. I went for their buffet breakfast. The food was nice, staff were friendly and helpful and you can have more than one helping if you're hungry with refillable tea and coffee. Definitely worth a visit if you fancy a large breakfast 😋

The most impressive thing was the overall atmosphere, a friendly,safe vibe that contributed to a very enjoyable night out. Certainly worth a return visit, and most certainly worthy of a 5 star review.

Need to be checked regularly as when went to use the other cubicles not in nice state to use. Told member of staff. They said wud get it looked at. 1 hour later still the same. R. M.We went there for my birthday and the young man that served us was incredibly polite and attentive - he was only 18 and I think he may have been called Tyler. You could see he was ever so slightly nervous, but I don't doubt he will grow into his role as he gets more experienced. The chef (an Asian chap whose name escapes me sorry) came out to discuss my requirements as I am vegan and was very helpful as well. The food was reasonable for the price, although didn't feel massively like anything I wouldn't be able to get at other eateries. For the amount of food and drink we had we felt the price was reasonable and generally represented good value. The premises were clean but looked like they could benefit from a refresh. On the way out someone thanked us (think it might have been a duty manager) and he was sincere and also wished us a nice evening. Even with covid, they all looked genuinely happy to be doing their jobs, so the management must be doing something right to keep morale high. Only reason I deducted a star, was firstly because of the minor changes they could make described above, but also because when we arrived the door marked entrance was locked (even though we had a booking) so it was a bit of a pain trying to find a way in and we had to use the "exit only" doors and walk through the pub area to get to the restaurant, which wasn't ideal. Would go back if in the area and want a cheap and cheerful experience.

I ordered a Large - which actually is enough for two people. Shame on me for eating most of it! It arrived earlier than the stated time (no problem there) and the quality and quantity of food was 100% perfect. The beef was succulent, as was the turkey and gammon. Oh, I must mention the roast potatoes - they are just like my Nan used to make ... unbelievably old-fashioned, and equally scrumptious! Please don’t change how you cook your roasties.

T. J.The experience overall was great. The service was very good Steve was a great waiter all evening 5*. The pizza and burgers were served fresh and went down well and the desserts were good portions for the price.
Unfortunately the food served with the carvery was not really up to standard the veg and mash were very dried out roasts not very good and the gravy was lumpy although it still tasted ok.
Overall the group enjoyed the evening.

G. H.Our first time visiting for food, we went for breakfast with the family. The breakfast was all you can eat, buffet style. It was lovely, hot and there was lots of choice. I was a bit gutted to have to pay extra for mushrooms, I've never had to do that before but they're a must on a cooked breakfast in my opinion!! 4 of us ate and drank for less than £30! Staff were really friendly too, we will definitely be regulars!!

The food was tasty and piping hot. Even thought it was busy, catering staff even took the time to prepare fresh vegetables, to cater for my dietary needs.
The staff were friendly, helpful and very pleasant. Wouldn't hesitate to go back or recommend. Very reasonably priced, aswell.
Went in again the other day and was a little disappointed. Very much hit and miss. Will make sure I go again, when the first server is on.

O. F. (. H.Great carvery all week round- I visited on a Saturday. The atmosphere was pleasant, all the staff got on really well which added to it being a really lovely place to eat and socialise. It was pretty quiet when we went (Saturday early afternoon), yes the food was all fresh. Staff very helpful, food delicious and fresh. One vegan option on the adult and kids menu. There is unlimited soft serve ice cream as a dessert as well!

M. B.I go out with a disabled friend every week or two and having been let down by a dreadful place on Smith Street we decided to try this place for a change.
Of course a 'carvery' format depends on volume for freshness and keen pricing and this place manages to juggle high throughput (on the three occasions we have now been) whilst generally keeping up with the table clearing, bringing out replenishments and keeping the sauces and gravy tidy. No mean feat!
I don't expect gourmet food but I do expect sound basic quality and that's what we have had consistently. The beers are standard but acceptable and cleanliness etc. fine. The staff though busy are friendly and cheerful. Importantly for us there are several disabled parking spaces close to the doors and there are no steps to negotiate.
So . . . predictably good if fairly standard evening out important if you want no nasty surprises and good value for money! Having tried all the other similar format pub / restaurants in the city this is the most consistent.
T. M.Had a lovely meal on Saturday evening. The staff were very accommodating and our waitress even took the time to make my disabled Aunt a bottomless ice cream sunday and brought it to our table. The service was done with a smile. I would recommend this pub.

t.It's kind of hit and miss here. Went a few weeks ago and had the carvery whist my husband had a burger. He really enjoyed it whilst my carvery was nice but luke warm at best. The staff were all young and so busy chatting with each other that they never checked on us the whole time we were there. We went back again last Sunday as we were starving and knew we could eat pretty much straight away. The carvery was so much better and piping hot, also there was a member of staff stood at the entrance who was lovely and very friendly and helpful.

Food is purchased at the bar while getting drinks and a ticket for your meal is given, this is then exchanged at the carving station a quick and hassle free way to enjoy a Sunday dinner.

It was very busy when we went, however, there were adequate staff and we were served promptly.
The food was well cooked and the range of veg was better than at other Stonehouse carveries. It looked fresher and far more appealing too.
Overall would recommend over other Stonehouse in Coventry.

I. P.Large place on the main road on the edge of Coventry city centre - part of the Stonehouse chain of pubs. This one specialises in carvery meals. There were gammon, beef and turkey on at the time that we visited. The prices were very low but this was reflected in the portion sizes. I had ham, egg and chips but the eggs were cooked separately and then I had to go to the carvery counter to get the rest.

Staff are always friendly, but as it gets so busy they do struggle to get everything done. Reading some of the other posts you can tell the people who wrote the negative ones have never worked in customer facing busy environments

l. g.Absolutely brilliant service I went for a meal with family including my 15 month old grandson who has gluten and dairy intolerance so I expected as usual for him not to be able to eat anything on the menu after speaking to the waitress she said they would be more than happy to steam his veg and they would make gravey just for him so for once in his life he could eat a meal with the family while eating out also when we had finished our meal the chef came to us spoke to my granson and asked us if everything was ok for him I have never been so happy with the sevice at a restaurant before thankyou very much for making it a real family meal where everyone could eat .

A. J.Cheap and cheerful carvery also does pizza. You can have a relaxing meal here and you are never made to feel rushed by the staff when they have seen that you have finished your meal.
