Bloody amazing, both service and food! Portion sizes are huge and well worth the money!! Great quality food would go back just for the cheesecake! Well needed after a long day of walking in the peak district. Considering there is only two of them working there mon-sat they are doing a brilliant job! Call in advance to book!

Nice pub, with welcoming staff. Really enjoyed our roast belly pork. Very tasty and no fancy frills. Just a proper good roast dinner. Really appreciated the staff member ringing us back to sort us out a table after we were told it was fully booked. Would be nicer without all the odd decor so we could see the lovely old pub beneath but I guess it gives it personality. Thanks for a good meal, will be back.

Great pub with a lot of character, really friendly staff, the landlord upcycles items in to lamps and other pieces. The food was really nice definitely worth finding and calling in for a pint.

The food is fantastic. I had fish and chips and I was not only delicious but it was presented very well. I must say through that the chairs are very uncomfortable. Your always seating on the edge of them (they may not be all the same) this is why it's not 5 star. I do highly recommend the Fox and Hounds.

Enjoyed a splendid home-cooked chicken meal at this great pub to celebrate my birthday. All the ingredients were fresh and deliciously prepared. We just HAD to compliment the lady chef and the waitress for a memorable occasion. Will certainly be back to sample more of the varied menu.

My first draught beer since October last year and it tasted funny. A 2nd different beer also tasted funny, maybe my taste buds as I've only drunk bottled beer. Nice food but could do with more staff.

The staff were very helpful , friendly and polite. Well getting to the most important thing, the food was really well cooked and very tasty just like your grandma's cooking. Really good sized portions. We will definitely be going again and recommending it to others.

Everything a traditional English pub should be. A warm welcome, great selection of beers and truly “home cooked” food. Our Sunday roasts had very generous portions of meat, the veg was cooked to perfection (still a little bite to them). Great and regularly changing menu, cooked with love. Highly recommend.

It has been around 6 years since I last visited the Fox and Hounds, it was an okay pub then so I planned a return visit last Sunday. There is a very good selection of ales and wine, in particular an excellent Pinot Noir. The members of my party had one Roast Beef dinner and one Salmon dinner whilst I had the pan fried chicken breast- all were perfectly cooked and the vegetables were prepared to perfection. Despite the youthfulness of the staff they were extremely in control of everything and quite cheerful as well, clearly a good place to work. The food is VERY reasonably priced. Enjoy. M

Our favourite place to eat out. Menu changes every couple of months. All food is cooked to order. Reservations needed if you want to guarantee a table in the evening. Closed Sunday evening and all day Monday.

We went for a last minute family Sunday lunch, we had a mix of beef and pork meals and all were beautiful, best veg we’ve had in years with a side of cauliflower cheese, excellent food and service, we will certainly be back👍🏻

We live locally (Wirksworth) and was on a little roam around on a lovely evening. We called in just for a drink and it was so welcoming and cosy inside we thought it would be nice to stay and eat. We obviously had not booked but the girls sorted us out and in less than 20 mins we were sat down at a lovely table for 2, not sat lost on a big table just to get us sat down. I have to say this is the best pub and restaurant we have been to for a long time. The food was to die for and a great menu. I had the beer battered haddock which was like a small whale on your plate, the batter stayed crispy even with lemon juice over it and the fish was perfectly cooked, my wife had pan fried salmon and that too was fantastic. She is a salmon junky and she just smiled when she tasted it.... absolutely brilliant!!! . The staff are all so friendly, big happy smiling faces and have time for a little banter too which is always nice. Cant speak too highly of the Fox and Hounds, we will definately be back.
