Lovely atmosphere, nice setting and welcoming staff. Interesting menu and food tasted delicious BUT such a shame that our 3 fish pies were only lukewarm ...a little concerning for a reheated seafood dish. They took them back and microwaved them warmer but still not piping hot. Would've been 5 stars had the food been reheated to optimum temperature.

Visited here for Sunday dinner, at the time they were busy due to the Nottingham Forest Football game, which wasn’t a problem & we didn’t mind waiting. Unfortunately when the food came to the table, the lamb shank was found to be very tough & chewy. Half way through the meal despite having our cutlery separated at either side of the plate, with food on the plate, a member of staff attempted to take the plates away. Then ironically another member of staff came over & asked if we wanted anything extra. There just didn’t seem to be much consistency within the service? One big plus, all the staff are lovely, & the disabled toilet / baby changing room is nice & big, being able to fit a buggy in too.

Fantastic meal tonight! Good fast service and a wide range of both food and drink offerings. Food was utterly delicious! Hake supreme cooked beautifully with great flavour deserves a particular mention but all dishes really well flavoured and executed. Only 4 starts because I really missed the table service… the food is sensational, it’s just a shame to miss the personal touch of a waiter or waitress. Thank you for a lovely evening

Had a Birthday Afternoon Tea here this afternoon. The sandwiches were soft and fresh with generous fillings and the cakes tasty and yummy. Very well presented with attentive great service. The 2 waiters were very friendly and welcoming will definitely be booking again 🍰

Visited as a group of 4 on Saturday evening. Service was good, food was very tasty but a little overpriced. Portion size wasn’t great, flavours good. The price of the drinks were very high. Over £8 for a glass of wine. The same ale, more expensive here than other places in the area. Enjoyed the food, but won’t be returning due to the high price of the drinks

On arrival we was told we can sit, and that they would come to us for our order. We waited Ten to Fifteen minutes. Then decided to go to the bar to order which we had to wait again in turn. So by the time we got a drink it was approaching the half hour mark. We Ordered Two starters. And Four mains. One starter came out, the second Fifteen minutes later. Then Two mains came out, then the last Two mains came about Fifteen minutes after. Not good service. We had to ask about the second starter. They said it was a main. Not according to there menu. 😕. But the food was at a good standard. 👍

Really lovely pub. It's a Classic Inn so menu is more upmarket than a Greene King. Staff are lovely and welcoming. Has a lovely looked after beer garden/outdoor seating area. The food was red hot when served with lovely big portions. We also love the quirky ales and ciders on offer. We've been twice now within 2 weeks and will definitely be back again soon. Love it!

Absolutely lovely place, such a homey atmosphere and incredible staff. Such good food, except for one thing on the menu that I've now given multiple chances... the lasagne. It was cold in the middle on more than 1 occasion, sent it back and was told it had been probed and read a good temperature for food. I dont really trust microwaved food half the time because of food poisoning in the past, but please make sure food is hot in the middle, not on the sides or the sauce! Other than that the chicken tikka masala and the fish is just divine

Been here today for the second time and I will be coming again. The food was de-lish-us and I had a three course meal, each course being as good as the next. Staff where extremely nice and couldn't help you enough. The price of food is a little expensive but the quality makes up for it. There is a varied selection of foods and drinks which cater for all. The place inside is clean, cosy and warm and outside there is a large carpark at the rear and an area to eat and drink in the summer. One downside, the lighting outside on a dark night is not very good

Nice feel to the place. Eaten here twice in last month. Nice prawn starter but chicken in Hunters Chicken dry and overcooked. Had lasagne last time and had obviously been left heated up for a long time as it was drying out. Service was very slow for a weekday taking over 40 minutes for food to arrive

Called into the Queens head on the spure of the moment with my wife. We weren't disappointed the pub itself has a beer garden at the rear and seating area at the front. The interior is set on different levels, the seat's was very comfortable. A well stocked bar and a food menu which we ordered a meal from. The food was absolutely excellent and peroni beer on draft. Staff and service was excellent. I would recommend the Queens Head ockbrook to anyone.

Went to the Queen's Head with family to celebrate a birthday. In all honesty, the interior of the pub is lovely, very well decorated. The toilets are spotless and nice. But, that's where the pub shines, the other stuff is why it becomes a rather average pub. Food - bleh. I had the hunters chicken, which is a strange and unpleasant variation on the classic. It's served on a large bowl where the barbeque chicken is floating on a tonatoe and tarragon sauce. Not a good flavour combination. Also the chicken was 80% gristle. Foul. Drinks - Ugh They managed to mix a lager shandy so badly, you could see the lemonade and lager in two separate layers in the glass. This was a strange combination of impressive and ghastly. Staff - oh dear. A football match was happening and honestly, to the staff that was the single most important thing. While being served they ignored you totally whole watching the football. They forgot two of our meals, when asked I heard a barman say to a waiter "yeah, I must have been watching the football" All in, average is the word to describe the queen's head. Doubt I'll return, much better places locally.

Had lunch at The Queens Head at Ockbrook a couple of weeks ago sat in the garden initially, the landlord was moving what appeared to be large heavy barrels around the outdoor area, we moved inside to eat the landlord brought our food to the table, no apron!! had he washed his hands. The tray my husband bought the drinks to the table on was very sticky from previous split drinks and the table surface was as bad. We've eaten there many times and always been happy but very disappointed on our last visit.

It's been many years since we were here last due to a poor experience. Today was great. The menu has plenty of choice of what I would call good pub food. Starters arrived promptly and were very tasty. Mains followed soon after the starters had been finished and were also very nice and well sized. Desert was a longer wait but was a highlight for my daughter. There's a good selection of real ales and prices were good. The staff were all friendly. Overall a good experience and I'm sure we will be back.

Have made many visits to the Queens Head and back again today. Thursday is steak night...they do steak every night but Thursday prices are reduced. It is a lovely venue, really friendly staff, good selection of beer and the food is always top notch. Steak deal is highly recommended, no drop in quality on offer night. Very comfortable surroundings, great garden facility, good parking. I think I will need to move into the village to get closer to this great pub.

The food was good, standard and quality. There were a few items missing from a dish, the lack of available produce only identified when we asked. What we did have was excellent and I suspect it was inexperienced staff. The hot drink, with slow gin was tasty, just be aware £7.45 a mug. Overall just a few things spoilt the visit.

Our now new favorite pub! We brought our dog with us and were immediately greeted with smiles and pointed to a table we could sit at with our pooch. They told us to help ourselves to dog biscuits that were on our table and also where we could find a "Doom bark" barrel of water for her. The attention to detail is amazing. From the little stool to stand on for the kids in the toilets so they can wash their hands without faff... to the extra Yorkshire puddings and roasties being offered halfway through your meal. The staff are wonderful.. attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Absolutely fantastic!

Visited for the first time at 5.30pm on Sunday. Found several tables and one end of the main bar covered in used cutlery, plates and glasses. Upgraded decoration and upholstery were modern and light. Waited about 8 minutes at the bar to order. The pint of Dragonfly I ordered was excellent. Food order which was off the specials options took 27minutes to be served at table. The food was hot but had obviously suffered for the worse from being left under a heat lamp for far too long. All the veg was way over cooked and incipid. The cottage pie was also disappointing in that it was bland to taste and it's gravy too gelatinous for my taste. All this time the table next to us was literally full of used crockery and cutlery only being cleared as we concluded our meal. Liked the layout and decoration of the place which definitely has potential let down by speed of food service and served quality not being 'freshly' cooked. Would use the place as a pub for drinking though.

Brilliant food!! The quality is amazing and they have offers on certain days for those on a budget. With a gorgeous grassy beer garden with canopies for the furry guests, this is the perfect place to stop off. I highly recommend!

Can see the staff work really hard but had dinner there tonight one meal came out wrong, which again was fine because we could see how busy they were. My gripe when asked how the meal was I replied frozen vegetables, frozen chips not something you really want. However waitress walked off in a huff say I can assure you they are not frozen, what happened to good customer service. Certainly not apparent with this lady. We are the customers after all.

It is a nicely decorated and homely pub, with welcoming and friendly staff. It was warm and comfortable with plenty of places to sit, either for a meal or for just a drink. There was a vast range of food from which to choose, with offers that change each day e.g. Over 60s discount day. We were a party of six and all our food arrived at the same time and was nice and hot. We all agreed that our meals were ok but just a little bit too dear for what we got.

Typical chain pub, this one is owned by the people that own, slug & lettuce, Yates, etc. Good selection of beer. Food is ok, what I call plastic food, all preprepared and blasted in a convection oven. It serves a purpose. The staff are friendly and the decor is pleasant.

Visited mid week during a trip home from America. My husband had been craving a ploughman's lunch for months! They didn't have the items so someone went to the store and got supplies! Lovely atmosphere & friendly, helpful staff. We found a cosy nook to sit in. There are also more open areas. You can choose a table or a cosy corner with arm chairs. Very reasonable prices too.

EDIT: Was invited back for a complimentary for me and my girlfriend, the circumstances of temporary chefs etc was explained and the meal was very nice, would definitely go back, I have edited the review to 4 stars as the second meal was very nice and all went well and the situation was handled which is all you can ask for when mistakes happen. Went for a meal Saturday night, I have never taken a meal back in my life but the chicken was raw. Although mistakes happen the way it was handled annoyed me more. the waiter brought the exact change of the meal to the table, it wasn't the money that we wanted but the fact the experience had been ruined. No management came over to offer apologies or any compensating items for the inconvenience. The table next to us also had to take a meal back. All in all wasn't impressed.

Good food, good beer and gin selection and a nice relaxed atmosphere is what you'll find at The Queen's Head. There is a good beer garden with a reasonable amount of seating. No play equipment for children but there are large scale Connect 4 and Jenga. There is also a tent with sand and toys in for the kids to play in. Food portions are well sized and quality generally very good. Beer prices are slightly higher than I would say is average but they always have 4 or 5 cask ales on tap and they offer a discount to CAMRA members.

Well, what can I say! What a huge difference from 16 months ago to now! We were extremely disappointed to have our Xmas Lunch in Dec 2017 to be presented with an appalling meal, with little attention to detail to an outstanding Sunday Lunch we were presented with today! The staff were attentive, very obliging, and are a credit to the new management running thr Queens Head now. Would definately recommend! Outstanding! Thankyou. We arrived about 6 wpm and received a warm welcome from the bar staff,we had a couple of drinks in the pleasant bar area, after about an hour we moved to our table in the restaraunt. At 7 ppm we ordered our meal from a very varied menu the meals arrived after about 20 minutes and were excellent.
