Food was absolutely incredible. I cannot wait to be back in Derby to go for another carvery! I can't comment on the meat as I had a vegetarian meal, but the roast potatoes were amazing, the cabbage was delicious, all vegetables were cooked to perfection. My boyfriend enjoyed his burger. In his words, it was "awesome". The onion rings I stole from him were particularly delicious :))

Came in yesterday for food and drinks and have to say we really enjoyed it and ended up staying for a couple of hours. The ladies on the bar were so nice and the interaction with the customers old and young was really nice to see. 100% genuine and not put on like you see in most establishments. Their both an absolute asset to your pub and because of this we will definitely be returning. Than you for a wonderful afternoon. Had to ask the ladles names and they were Sophie and jenny xx

First time we have been back to Derby in the last 10 years, my husband used to drink in the Blue Peter in his youth! We went to eat in there prior to attending a funeral and what an amazing experience made all the better by 2 lovely staff members Sophie and Jackie! They were so friendly and made us feel really welcome, I can’t thank them enough for their hospitality and service! We both had the carvery and it was fabulous, the chef was also very happy to serve us! Truthfully we found the whole experience fantastic with lovely hot food and great service, please say thank you to all the staff for making it such a pleasurable meal prior to a sad funeral..

Arrived at 5pm, with an empty belly. I noticed there was still plenty of meat. They swapped all the gammon, Turkey and beef for fresh joints, because "They didn't want to serve dry meat". The bar staff and chefs were helpful and attentive. They made me feel like they were trying to impress, they did. Its not posh or pretentious, it's real people in a real restaurant eating really good food. Back here again in the same week, but for pizza this time. Such friendly staff, we have the 'Amazing Amy" on the bar, and top pizza chef "Katie" on the oven. Once again, amazing food (and 2 4 1).

I haven't been to the Blue Peter for a while, because there had been a number of occasions where I thought the carvery was bland and tasteless. But today we booked a table of 16 for our Nans anniversary. Honestly wasn't disappointed at all. Our of 16 of us, 9 had carveries and the other 7 had pizza and kids menu choices. The chef today was Julie and she was working by herself. All the food was sent out at the same time, beautifully cooked, brilliant temperature and then served the rest of us at the carvery station quickly so we could all sit and eat together. She did absolutely amazing to feed.us all within half an hour of placing our orders and nothing was too much of a bother for her. The carvery itself was beautiful. The veg was cooked well, not soggy, gravy was nice and thick, meat was tender and roasties were crispy. The pizzas looked amazing too. Only downside was it was cold inside and I sat with my coat on. And there was no beef but I can't complain really we all left with full tummys and not one complaint food wise.

The staff were friendly enough, but the interior is outdated and too open, and it served arguably the worst coffee I've ever had. I can't comment on the food because I decided not to stay. However, even if the meal quality is/was good, I'd only give it one more star. UPDATE: I've actually added one more star after having cause to visit once again one morning, and had a decent breakfast, albeit with tea rather than coffee. Once again, the staff were friendly.

After visiting many times before and twice recently i may become a regular Sunday visitor. I think the new additions (salad bar and alternative menu) has improved the whole experience. The only thing I believe could improve it even more, is to have more privacy for the outside space, from the busy roads and also maybe a change in veg, on the carvery, now and again. Maybe the odd seasonal veg option would be the way forward, as the veg is always the same and can get boring. The drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed. Children more then welcome.

I love the new blue Peter. The place has had an upgrade and now does stone baked pizza. The prices have gone slightly up, but it's still family and wallet friendly. Sunday is a bit higher, but week days are grand. Haven't tried pizza yet, but that will be my next appointment! One thing I must say: the espresso is the best amongst all the pubs I've tried. Just, don't ask for espresso and then put in extra hot water, please. As an Italian, it's a sacrilege! A must try for everyone! Place really packed. They've added booths with phone charging!

The carvery meats ok but the vegetables you needed to stir to get to a decent bottom layer from the dried up top the stuffing was dry & hard as concrete! The crowning glory was a visit to the toilets for despite witty signs gorgeous girls there was no lock to the cubicle door so would prefer privacy rather than comical signs! UPDATE:- Of all the things I mentioned was wrong with this the only part manager commented on was the excuse for no salad bar, what about no condiments and poorly cooked food! I have been back on 24/6/17 and it was better ,still a few problems with the cooking but the rest much improved. increased star rating. I filled in their "spill the beans" review after dining there on Saturday. Said I would be willing to talk to someone about the poor experience but no one has been in touch, and after reading similar reviews from months ago can only surmise they don't care. The whole meal was a disappointment dried out meat (what you got) vegetables very under cooked verging on raw. The only condiments out were apple sauce tomato and brown sauce. No horseradish, cranberry or tartar. Oh and the advertised salad bar was not in use all pans clean and empty, how they would have been able to make a pizza if asked I don't know as there was no toppings which are taken from the salad bar also. Would have put no stars but it wont let me.

I came here for the all you can eat breakfast and we sat down after paying and buying drinks. We then went to self serve the breakfast and we notice they was no food at all. We had to wait 15 mins till the kitchen started bring out food and at time the pub was full and people waiting. And took us 30 mins to finally start eating. Nice and cheap Carvary. I've never eaten of the main menu as we always have the Carvary so I can't comment on normal food items. But the Carvary is really good value for money. Large variety of vegetables and potatoes and you can help yourself to what you want. The pub looks really nice since it's been done up as well. Great place to go if your wanting a cheap meal out.
