Reviews of The Brunswick Inn
S. W.
Visiting the area due to watching motorsport down at Donnington Park. Visited this bar as it was a quick walk from our hotel at pride park. Great selection of beers and ciders; really friendly staff, all in all a great little pub! Food was excellent too!
B. E.
Kind of interesting, I really like the pub, it's clearly vey old with huge amounts of character and the outside spaces (especially the smaller one at the back) are really nice.
The staff are friendly, polite and easy to talk to, you're made to feel really welcome.
The food is superb... at least the chips and cheese was... cus that's what I had, proper homemade, chunky chips.
Unfortunately the beer is a bit hit or miss, it's always well kept and in great condition but dispite the large selection a lot are really similar in style and flavour.
Worth going to, but I'd say the Alex around the corner has better beers.
G. W.
Unique railway built pub.
Oldest railway company built pub in the world. (1841).
Beer brewed on the premises. Superb and well priced
Staff are faultless
M. R. J.
A quintessential real ale pub. Authentic in every way...with a great range of proper ales.
Spacious and multifaceted...with a micro brewery on show.
Not far from Derby station: ideal if you have a gap between trains.
Highly recommended.
J. L.
Lovely traditional Pub incorporating a Microbrewery about 200 yards from Derby Railway Station.
Superb variety of Real Ales plus Keg Beers and an excellent Food menu including Vegetarian and Vegan dishes.
Competitive prices and friendly staff.
A. A.
Great pub Great beer will defo be back what more can a southerner ask for
C.
Traditional British Pub with a few separate spaces. Darts board and outdoor area. Great beer and cider selection.
B. E.
The Brunswick is a beautiful pub, inside and out. It's a pleasing flatiron shape with a lovely separate lounge in the pointy bit which you access though a curved door.
The interior is split up into small rooms and areas so it has a cosy, secluded feel.
It has a great range of beers and its own micro brewery.
Be warned! Their tables are possessed. You've only got to so much as look at them and they'll tip your drink over. Just make sure you or your companions lift your drinks up if anyone has to get up or move.
R. G.
Really nice, authentic pub close to the railway. Reasonably priced beer, nice atmosphere, lovely staff. You'd be silly not to stop by when you're in the neighborhood.
R. P.
Good selection of ales and loads of options for seating and standing.
R. L.
Incredible beer selection in a great atmosphere. Always worth a visit when in the area. The Railway Porter is a top pint that is recommended.
G. F.
Fantastic local pub close to the train station. Lovely staff and plenty of seating inside and outside. Great range of drinks too.
M. “. L.
Had a great pint in here tonight and some good knowledge from the stag
T. M.
Had Sunday Dinner here today, bar staff were excellent. Great selection of ales and a fantastic Sunday Roast Dinner.
c. s.
A multi roomed traditional pub offering a large selection of quality real ales, many of which are brewed on the premises. The food on offer is also good quality and excellent value.
The Landlord is friendly and knows a lot about keeping real ale and told my friends and I what are to best pubs to visit in Derby. After trying the rest, we all agreed the Brunswick is the best, and the local CAMRA branch awarded this pub best in the city a couple of consecutive years.
The Brunswick is handy for the railway station and not far from the city centre. Highly recommended.
A. M. H.
Lovely historic building. Fantastic choice of real ales and great food both of which were value for money.
T. M.
The Brunswick Inn is one of the most outstanding real ale pubs in Derby, with no less than 16 hand pumped ales available. It is located just a three minute walk from Derby Midlands Station, but a little outside the city centre (10 minutes from Derby Bus Station e.g.). The pub has won many awards in previous years, and it's notable for it being split up into rooms of various sizes and shapes, ideal if you're with a small group and don't enjoy the rather noisy area around the bar. There's also a (modest) beer garden at the rear. Beers served include those made by its own house brewery.
The beers themselves are well-kept and fresh, which I've come to expect from a Cask Marque pub. The place can get noisy and very busy in the evening, and - to be blunt - some of the folks gathered there tend to be a little rough, if you know what I mean. I forgot a tablet there a year ago which never turned up - normally one would expect punters to hand in devices found on the premises, sadly this was not the case here.
So my impression of the crowd at The Brunswick might be a bit clouded - but it is certainly not as friendly and "family-like" a place as other real ale pubs in Derby, like The Flower Pot, The Five Lamps or The Exeter Arms.
The décor is rather low-key and traditional, but the smaller size of the rooms adjacent to the bar area do give it a cosy feeling.
Solely as a real ale pub it cannot be faulted.
J. N.
Some of the best cask beer I've ever tried. Most brewed on site too. Great pub.
M. R.
Easily one of Derbys best pubs, a great choice of real ales, some of which are made on site. A range of different rooms in which to relax, dark wood panelling throughout, the building itself is Victorian and full of character, there's a warm welcome plus it's a stones throw from the railway station so ideal for a beverage before or after your travels. Enjoy. M
P. H.
Good real ale pub with nice beer brewed on site. Does good food too.
S. S.
Sue and Jane popped in for food and drinks. Staff very friendly and food was first class. Will definitely be back. Thank you.
A. T.
A gem. A proper comfy pub with a remarkable range of beers and good food to boot. Good prices too 👍
M. M.
The Brunswick Inn is a living museum, with a good selection of well kept beer. Any real ale drinker visiting Derby should call in to this gem of a pub.
B. H.
Top pub 10/10 excellent real ales and food to go with.
J. W.
***Update as of 05-11-2018: still the best! No hot food Monday, but cobs and pies etc. are the perfect foil for the great ales.
Possibly the best ale pub in Derby and I know what competition exists for that title, and possible the upset that the statement will cause. All the same it is amazing and with it's own brewery attached serves some of the freshest beer around. Great range of ale as well as guest beers and all at a good price. Home-cooked, honest pub food complements the beer well.
The pub has a variety of seating areas inside as well as a small beer garden outdoors. It's a clean, well run place and a must visit if you're in Derby.
R. 7.
Comfortable, plenty of places to sit inside or out, nice staff and an array of local and international beers
D. S.
Great selection of beer and a cosy atmosphere!
R. W.
Classic traditional pub, heavily railway themed, with a great range of beers (their own and others) and an interior with lots of nooks and crannies. Great for cider too, and a regular organiser of beer festivals.
Has two outdoor spaces at the back for those who prefer their drinking well ventilated!
J. W.
Massive range of ales proper nice pub food looked good to nice chilled out place
D. R.
As usual a fantastic choice of ales and extremely attentive service from the bartender and good food to boot.
T. C.
Good brewpub close to main train station. Does food outdoor areas
r. g.
What a fantastic pub! Had a couple of hours to kill before a train and came here on a recommendation. We loved it - great beer, friendly and helpful staff and a really lovely setting. We were outside because it was so sunny, but it seemed like it would be a lovely place to be indoors on a winters day too. Eagerly awaiting another reason to catch a train from Derby soon so we can pay another visit!
S. V.
Brilliant pub with a great selection of beers on tap.
When i visited, there were 7 beers that were brewed on site. I can recommend 'The Usual' and 'Platform 2b'.
The bar staff were also knowledgable about the available beers.
Recommended.
A. S.
Highly recommend the food was brilliant. A warm welcome and pleasant atmosphere cant wait to return
t. c.
Near railway station good boozer that has own beer range
A. W.
Superb pub with a great interior, food and beer.
I. C.
Real ale pub. Cheap and wholesome food. More suited for older people
d. d.
Fab boozer, One of the best selections of beer and cider I've seen for a long time. TRY IT IT BRILLIANT.
D. A.
Pub heaven. My idea of the perfect pub, loads of different ales - we stuck to their own beers, tried 3 all lovely. The shepherds pie and cheesy chilli chips were delicious. If only we had a local like this.
N. B.
This must be a mecca for real ale fans. Eight regulars and eight guest beers plus other drinks. Excellent food also plus a good friendly atmosphere. A proper pub.
m. r.
Wonderful old traditional pub serving wonderful beer and one of, if not the best pub Sunday lunch I have ever eaten. And all at more than fair prices. An absolute gem of a find. If I could award it six stars I would. My only regret is that I don't live nearby.
B. H.
One of the best pubs in Derby. Huge selection of Ales and Ciders. Within sight of Derby Train Station, outdoor seating and regular beer festivals.
m. r.
Great pub for real ale drinkers nice to see good selection of beers and ciders
M. G.

Perfect place to stop for lunch near the rail station. Friendly welcome, excellent food, very wide selection of beer and really good value.
D. H.
Great selection of super beers and nice atmosphere.
D. S.
Arrived during their beer festival, had a lovely pale ale while being gently wafted by delicious smells emanating from the barbecue. Great atmosphere and well organised, thanks again for a great evening!
S. A.
Superb choice of real ale pulled through a sparkler just how I like it
K. B.
Really lovely pub, lots of character.
D. R.
Always a great choice of beer with great staff 👍
J. H.
Great place for a quiet lunchtime pint.
F. V.
Beautiful interior with ornate details and several rooms, enormous range of high quality beers from a range of breweries including the one at the back of the pub.
M. L.
Love going here for a drink. What a great building. Fantastic and friendly staff. Great selection of local beers and cider 👌. Great location historic area.
J. C.
Good choice of cider Good food and pleasant staff
I. G.
Wow great pub, massive selection of ales and ciders proper old fashioned decor. Staff friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit.
B. B.
Update - revisited on the 29/07/20. Fresh well kept railway porter and black Sabbath stout. I also had one of the best shepherds pies I've ever had. Really friendly staff, and good prices too. A must-visit. The steak and ale stew also looked and smelt lovely.
wide range of real ales, home and guest. Nice home cooked food too. Good value for money. Comfortable old timey atmosphere.
R. K.
One of the best pubs in derby, particularly if you like real ales
A. F.
Quirky pub with excellent choice of real ales.
R. C.
Fantastic beer. Great pub with a very nice atmosphere.
R. C.
Booked a table for two now pubs are opened for outdoors service. Was very pleased to see Covid precautions being properly followed. Customers scan in with NHS app, tables properly spaced. Staff wore masks. Their beers were excellent, the Home Brew Hoppy Days especially nice. The situation to the rear of the Brunswick is quite sheltered and affords lovely views of this beautiful old building and similar nearby houses. Burgers were being cooked outside, plus a chef was bringing out other snacks including chips. A canopy covers half the area with parasols for the other tables if needed. Staff were friendly and our visit felt not a compromise on safety as some pubs are. Well done to the owners.
D. R.
A real, real ale pub, with perfectly kept bear.
No change 5 years later. Still 5 star with perfectly kept / brewed beer.
J. J.
Great pub, traditional cosy interior with open fire, great selection of beers.
J. L.
Good pub with great beer
D. S.
Historic derby pub with more real ales you can drink 😀
R. S.
Really can't go wrong here, couldn't see wat the 16 ciders were on offer any were, but I drink real ales my mate drinks cider, I was happy.
N. G.
This is a lovely pub. The ale is perfect, the staff are excellent and hard to find a better pub in Derby or anywhere else in the UK.
J. O.
What's not to love? My favourite pub when I'm in Derby. Great selection of Ales and the pub has loads of rooms that you can enjoy with a pint.
C. S.
Good choice of ales in this year’s table service only beer festival. Be sure to pre-book your table. You arrive to a warm welcome, by Alan the landlord in our case. Just sit back and enjoy great drinks in familiar surroundings. Very cosy. Thanks to all at the Brunswick for another well run event. Cheers!
J. J.
Super choice of beers and delicious Sheppards Pie....
N. W.
Great selection of Ales and pleasant service. Excellent.
T. H.
Wow. Great pub. Any chance of relocating to Crewe?
S. K.
Lovely place. Excellent ales.
g. s.
One of the best real ale pub's in Derby, got it's own micro brewery on site, good selection of beers and food, just a short walk from Train station 🍺
S. A.
Good traditional pub, excellent beer selection.
R. F. G.
This a great pub with excellent beer and friendly staff. Only gripe was not letting in kids under 16. We had come out for a drink as a family (my partner and 14 yo son). A notice told us that children under 16 weren't allowed. Why? In fairness, the bar lady spotted us and told us we could use the outdoor drinking area. We were told by her that the reason for not allowing children was covid licensing restrictions, yet we'd been in much smaller (Brunswick's a big pub) with our son. I understand that they might wish to keep younger kids out who might go round touching everything but the average 14 yo will touch two things during a pub trip - their glass and their phone! Hardly major hazard. Needless to say the beer is very good and actually the temperatures yesterday were quite pleasant for sitting out so we weren't fussed.
S. D.
Move little pub. Has function rooms on the first floor. Quaint little rooms where you can get together for a chat or work work colleagues, as i did with mine.
A. J.
Great beer, great atmosphere,great staff!
J. T.
Great beer at a great price. Food high quality at a good price. Nothing not to like.
A. B.
This is a very nice pub! Our food took a huge while to come at the table after the order (30 min!) and the place wasn't even full. I take this a good sign tho, it could mean genuine food! It was actually pretty tasty,
P. E.
The Brunswick has proven itself, time and time again, as a reliable and flexible establishment for the consumption of booze of many kinds. Real ales and craft beers? A peerless selection. Gins, spirits, and cocktails? Of course. A delicious selection of pub snacks? But of course! Can't recommend this place highly enough for people who want a pub, not a restaurant with a bar attached.
R. C.
Pub with own beers plus guests and several separate rooms . Railway pics etc Very handy for railway station
A. B.
Best ale in Derby, good atmosphere, good entertainment. Very recommended
J. Ž.
Nice pleace
l. p.
Lovely atmosphere great drink and food
D. H.
Pretty much as perfect as a pub gets. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic ale, good service.
B. W.
A great pub. One of the best in England
J. S.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Well worth a visit if you enjoy real ale, stout or cider.
J. W.
Famous historical pub very popular for the terrific range of real ales both guest and brewed on premises. Has occasional beer festivals (though every day is a beer festival with 15 hand pulls!) Home cooked food available some lunchtimes and evenings, but check beforehand for availability. We'll worth a visit and popular with locals and regulars alike.
W. B.
Visiting the area for work and was directed to this fine Inn by hotel staff. The owner and bar man were both very friendly and help get me setup for the Sunday Roast and a pint. The dinner was a lovely meal and the pint of the local brew added just the right touch. Love that it is a neighborhood place with all the "right" feel to it. The selection on tap is impressive. It will take several trips to sample them all.
K. B.
Fantastic old world pub, great fresh home-made food, great to see a nostalgic pub thriving ..staff very attentive and friendly... definitely recommend a visit.
t.
Never seen so many real ales. Awesome pub, great atmosphere, really fast, & efficient serving.
P. D.
Great pub, superb beers, and so many to choose from.
C. Y.
Fantastic ales, but slightly disappointed no food on Mondays.
F. M.
Lovely pub that is very convenient for the station. Excellent beers from the onsite microbrewery! Consists of a range of separate rooms and two outdoor spaces so that you can always sit in an appropriate atmosphere, whether you're there with friends or family.
A. S.
Very good, as always. Good quality beers and handy for the station. I'd stay longer if I didn't have a train to catch.
C. B.
Nice place, quite welcoming and friendly. Food nice and hot, good size portion for price. Only unfortunate was had to return my 1/2 pint of Railway Porter as was definitely off. Changed for different beer and bad beer was taken off immediately. Would definitely recommend.
N. W.
Victorian railway pub opposite the with nostalgia and authenticity. Popular with a slightly crusty drinking set. Bar meals. Big range of lovely beers including offerings brewed on the premises. Certainly one of the best pubs in Derby. Parking difficult. Maybe pay for the station car park.
A. K.
I love this place. It has everything that a top pub should have. Also, their beers are really good in respective styles. I've almost tasted them all. The staff is really friendly. And they are giving tours of brewing! The beer garden is very nice as well. Good find this one. Would love to be back here one day.
E. M.
For those of your influenced by the photos and therefore wondering - please don’t be put off. Really really welcoming pub, good selection of drinks and decent pork scratchings. Group of colleagues and I are not CAMRA people (and I’d say the Brunswick is a real ale not a craft ale pub) but we all thought it was great. And all agreed we’d be going back next time in Derby. Please go - it’ll restore your faith in the humble British pub!
A. M.
Excellent traditional wood panelled pub split into different sections. Serving a range of real ales from own selection, with numerous guest ales. Slightly more expense than some city pubs, but competitive. Quality, ambience and tradition (many old railway prints due to proximity to station) make up for it. Note that on Derby County FC match days, pub is home fans only.
R. B.
Probably one of the best Real Ale pubs in the country, close to the railway station and boasting its own on site brewery.
Multi roomed establishment serving great food and Ales. One not to be missed.
E. Z.
I've been a patron since 1995 due to business with Rolls-Royce and this has been a Go-to-Place over the years.
I was given an opportunity to be stationed in Derby for 16months... of the many establishments in Derby this was one of two rock solid establishments that I frequented, yes I was there 8 days a week, pardon the I'll humor.
Better yet I was welcomed in as a regular, took a bit of time but eventually, I wore them down.
Great food, great banter, great place to take the piss... one of the great English Pubs, glad to know she's in good hands.
Standing Ovation, hats off to Alan, Philippe, James, and the team at The Brunswick.
I'm looking forward to another adventure to the Midlands.
PS ask about being part of the 28Club... Note this is not to be confused with a 365'r.
M. R.
This is a gem of a pub , close to Derby railway station so a great welcome to the city of Derby. On site Brewery provides great beers and an ever changing range of ales and ciders always available. Great management team run an excellent hostelry.
H. F.
Just a proper pub ! Marvellous real ales, good rolls . Knowledgeable clientele..and no loud music .
K. L.
Fantastic beer and you will be spoilt for choice with a awesome selection of real ales, craft beers and cider!
Great selection of single malt whiskys!
Good atmosphere!
Friendly bar staff!
What more could you want?
I always pay the Brunswick a visit whenever in Derby.
L. N.
Historic pub with it's own brewery. Lots of small and characterful rooms. Good value beer and food. Try the new range of keg beers from the in house brewery. Gets very busy when the Derby County home matches are on.
J. B.
For such an interesting and now unusual pub, selling an excellent range of beers, why have such a miserable bar man who appears to have no interest in helping a customer experience a great pint. Its a proper pub and no we don't want cheesy smiles, but Christ man, could be worse. You could be stood on my side looking at your boat!
M. F.
The modern real ale revolution in Derby started here and I'm pleased the current owners are continuing to fly the flag. Ale is brewed on the premises and sold at very reasonable prices alongside a varied guest ales menu. Pork pies and snacks are also very reasonable. Good traditional pub atmosphere in an unusual shaped building.
N. S.
Brilliant and friendly pub, great selection of homemade beer and cider. Only visiting the area, but definitely would become a staple for next visit. Also great prices for a pint.
L. B.
Given all the rave reviews I was expecting something exceptional. Sure the pub was good. Exceptional? Certainly not. There were about 9 ales on. All very samey and all at about 4% ABV. A relic of a bygone era. Why oh why the attached brewery cannot be more adventurous I do not know.
P. M.
A great beer drinkers pub ruined by an absolutely miserable manager. Basically witnessed one of his regulars assault a colleague of mine and throw us out as he didn't want to upset his regular. Seemed genuinely irritated his pub was full, baffling. Great beer, lousy owner!
R. K.
Great real ales friendly staff
j. h.
Cracking selection of ales and good and friendly staff
D. N.
Really good pub, in well renovated row of railway terraces. Big corner building, long and narrow inside with several rooms and bars. Great range of beers, ales & ciders on the hand pumps. Very strongly recommended.
P. H. (. A.
This is a fantastic pub. Traditional but comfortable and friendly and with a great selection of beers. A pal of mine raves about it travels some distance by train to sit and enjoy it there. The food is good pub fare too! Lovely place.
N. C.
Always a warm welcome and fantastic beer and food at the Brunswick!
K. M.
Excellent beer from their own brewery in the building
J. H.
Really lovely cosy pub. Very welcoming staff and a great feel to the place.
K. “. S.
Great beer, as always.
Fantastic range.
Great staff.
V. C.
Best pub in Derby area and I'm not the biggest ale fan myself.
m. t.
Good selection of beers ciders
S. A.
Fantastic range of ales, some of which are brewed on-site. Prices are really cheap, and they also accept Camra member discounts.
Old pub, classic feel, but really clean and friendly and helpful staff.
H. D.
Brilliant pub with very friendly and knowledgable staff and locals. Great selection of beers and wines and the food menu is huge! Lovely happy atmosphere. Would be my local if I lived here.
K. S.
Excellent pub with original beers.
G. M.
All about the real ales this place, several of them are brewed by the pub. The railway porter would be my recommendation. I like the decor inside, some good tile work. Predominantly populated by real ale types, which isn't a bad thing, they're friendly enough.
S. W.
Great pub. Friendly staff. Efficient service. Great food and beer. Can't fault it.
S. V.
One of my favourite pubs in the country never mind derby. Fantastic range of well kept ales, reasonably priced, atmospheric and historic building, lots of log fires dotted around, honestly it’s absolutely class, go
p. E.
Good pub with fires, massive beer selection, but they really need to get the lunch food supply into gear, many of the items on the menu had run out. The quality of the potato chips needs to be vastly improved.
d. m.
About 14 of us meet every 3 months or so for drinks matter and lunch
Beer always lots of variety, I drink the usual, about 4.2 strength always excellent. A good choice of food, something for all tastes
Big advantage near the station, little parking, bus stops outside
J. F.
Best pub in Derby hands down, food is unbelievable value for money, massive range of beer for everyone's taste and friendly staff, would recommend to everyone from my gran to my younger siblings
r. e.
Great pub with excellent beers
P. R.
Fantastic, traditional, cozy pub, good beer's (you can see the brewery at the back of pub!!) good food(The Battered Prawn and Calamari sandwiches, with tartar sauce are delicious!!) Handy for Train station and town centre.
N. H.
Good old style pub close to Derby railway station. Excellent choice of real ales.
D. K.
The Brunswick is a fabulous real ale pub, always dozens of beers available with many changing regularly. Also has an onsite brewery and usually has half a dozen or so of its own ales tap and these are usually cheaper than most places in town.
Food is available at lunchtime during the week and is simple but tasty.
The staff are welcoming and will always allow you to try a sip of a beer if you aren't sure what you want.
W. H.
Always been one of my favourite places to visit for a decent pint of ale in Derby. Very cosy old fashioned environment but very friendly and all staff have a huge understanding of all the different ales. They have theyre own brewery at the back of the pub as well which is an added bonus. Overall yhis is a great little pub to go to if you just want a quite drink or a game of darts.
C. P.
Great place very relaxed and safe. Social distancing measures in place which were very good. Only thing missing is a drink menu as can't see all drinks available on the back. Will be back
K. W.
Excellent Pub. Small cozy rooms and a good range if well kept beers, many of which are brewed on the premises. Handy for Derby Midland Railway Station.
C. M.
Superb old style pub, well placed a couple of hundred yards from Derby railway station. A mix of regulars and passing trade. Large choice of ales of various styles on hand pump.
B. V.
Just a great pub with one of the best selection of real ales in Derby. Handy for the railway and busses with station across the road and Skylink bus stop directly outside. Of course there is the Brunswick brewery too ;-)
S. K.
A place I personally enjoyed as I like the "rustic charm" (hope that does translate). Great selection of beers. Unfortunately been there when they haven't had the kitchen open, maybe next time :)
J. C.
Excellent beer house. With several great own-brews
F. B.
Brilliant pub and microbrewery within spitting distance of Derby main railway station. Food not served Mondays but brilliant ale brewed on the premises plus guests from other breweries. Unfaultable.
p. h.
It's a traditional pub, has a fire when cold. Serves an excellent selection of ales, even sells lager (apparently). Welcoming place & handy waiting for a train
A. M.
Proper pub. Great choice of beer
A. R.
First lunch in the UK after flying in from Australia. Probably would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't been hopelessly jet-lagged.
D. W.
Great micro brewery with a good selection of guest ales and ciders. Food is very good to. A great place to have a pint and relax before jumping on the train.
O. M.
Nice classic ale pub.
They have a nice range of beers on tap, plenty of bottles in the fridges too. Close to the train station so easy walking distance.
L. S.
My wife and I have just enjoyed a marvellous Xmas dinner that was of top quality and a size that leaves me to believe that I will not eat again for days. The starter of samosas were an absolute treat with a pastry so crisp they were the best I have tasted. A cracking festive dinner followed by a Xmas pudding of sheer delight. Give yourselves a treat and give it a try.
L. N.
Nice beer and cider.
Relaxed atmosphere.
However the man behind the bar was very rude. No please or thank you very abrupt. If he didn't work there you get five stars.
r. s.
Nice selection of beers & good dartboard.

Fantastic pub. Try the Black Sabbath ale which is a wonderful thing. Food is also a highlight, my chilli was probably the best I've ever tasted. Then you can go just past the men's toilets and see the latest.brew on the go.
S. G.
What a good old fashioned pub Nice open fire great range of beers Excellent food delicious steak and ale stew perfect veg and chips highly recommend bit difficult for parking only downside
P.
One of the best pubs in Derby, it has several rooms, when its half full you can still find a room to have a quiet drink in. It's a one minute walk to the train station and a 5 minutes walk to the bus station
A. W.
Lovely public house with friendly staff and a fantastic range of real ales and largers.
C. H.
Real ale pub just a few mins walk from the train station. Huge range of ales on tap but limited selection of other things. Many small rooms available for seating to offer some privacy if needed
A. H.
Great of you like real ale, and a proper pub atmosphere.
A. L.
Great local pub with fantastic food (burgers in particular are awesome). Lots of history in the building and area, local ales, and good prices. The Parlour sitting room is really good as well for bigger parties.
w. t.
Quiet place with nice drinks. Good for ales as its ale house. Lovely atmosphere n nice interior. Spent some quality time there with my love. In front of Derby train station so easy to have a drink while waiting for ur train.
M. F.
Quintessential railway pub. Offers a great selection of real ales with fine blend of guest v resident variants to choose from. Pork pie is on offer to compliment the fine ales. Pub gets very busy on match days especially one hour before Kick-off.
J. G.
Cosy clean, reasonably priced xx good catch up with friends before a meal xx Thankyou guys
N. H.
Excellent pub with a wide range of ales.
P. L.
Terrific real ale pub in a Grade 2 Listed heritage building with loads of character. Alan, the licensee, who has been at the pub since April 2014, really knows his stuff when it comes to keeping good beer.
Discount given to CAMRA members.
M. G.
Probably good if you are there for the real ale but it really doesn’t have much else to offer. Food acceptable but nothing special. Don’t visit on Derby County home game days if you don’t want to be crushed!
C. W.
Great beer. Lovely to be back after so long
A. W.
Visited before and after football at Pride Park. Good range of beers, pleasant and helpful staff. Very comfortable and welcoming to away fans. Will visit again.
J. G.
Only eat here if you are not in a hurry, food service is very slow. There were 6 people and some of the food arrived after others had finished their meals! The food was enjoyable though. I can't comment on the beer as I don't drink.
P. D.
Excellent beer selection, a real beer emporium located close to Derby train station and not far from Derby bus station. There is a choice of over 10 beers including the Brunswick beer brewed on the premises (aporoximately 5 home brew) and over 5 guest beers and a choice of ciders. Also a choice of hot and cold bar snacks. A choice of cobs, pork pies sausage roles and hot basic food (Chips, pies etc).
There are a number of rooms / annexes off the main bar area. Dogs are allowed on the premises.
The venue can get busy if Derby County are playing at home as it is close the the stadium (Pride Park).
S. D. (. L. o. S.
Great beer pub, generally full of middle age blokes, some of whom smell a little fusty. But it serves a great range of beers in a friendly way. Just the ticket.

Great beers, not sure if brewed on-site, staff are relatively friendly - only confusing experience but many rooms and comfortable seats, I would definitely say it's worth the travel to avoid the mass market gormet pubs that are sprouting up, real ale and a good atmosphere everytime
K. C.
