Reviews of The Joiners Arms at Quarndon

First time eating here and it did not disappoint! Walked in and we managed to get a table. Loved the decor. Open steak sandwich was delicious and so was the halloumi salad! The cocktails was yummy! Would recommend
E. R.
Amazing food and fun cocktails🍴This will always be my favourite pub, the staff are always friendly and efficient. We were recently served by Agneta who was super attentive and smiley. Never had a bad meal and visit regularly 😀
A. H.
Fabulous venue, very popular for a Thursday, and service was slow, probably as a result. If you are in no hurry then no issue as the food is faultless. Strong recommendation is sticky Toffee pudding. Best I have ever had.
j. 6.
Absolutely loved this place.
The staff are really friendly and welcoming. The food was faultless. I would definitely recommend.
D. P.
Nice pub that has certainly improved since my first visit in the 90’s. It’s geared up for eating really and has lots of different areas around the place you can sit and eat. Visited yesterday on a walk round the area and the countryside round and about the pub is fantastic. Slight downside being the wait to get a drink at the bar if that’s all you would like. As I said it’s geared more towards eating.
M. R.
Beautiful historic upscale pub/restaurant. Accent here is on quality food in a rustic setting. Friendly staff and as large as the pub is, would recommend booking prior to arrival. Only a minor issue, but the menu would benefit from having more Gluten Free options. Enjoy. M
L. S.
Absolutely loved it went for me mums birthday but deffo coming back just me and the wife cocktails are ace I'd recommend the bath tub gin cocktail it says for 2 people but deffo does more and the food was so filling its a good job they do doggy bags lol
M. C.
Food to die for. As soon as you walk into the pub you know you are going to have a great night. They have an unbelievable selection of drinks. There is a drink for everyone for every occasion. The food is another level. The presentation is outstanding and the quality of the food is equally as good. Can't wait to go again.
H. S.
I actually had a really good time on my date here. It was spontaneous, so no table was booked but thankfully we were quickly seated. There was a bit of a wait on food and cocktails, but the place was very busy. Staff are polite and can't complain.
If you're in Derby I'd say it's a nice place to experience
F. s.
Fantastic food, wonderful service by Emily. I had the salmon it was devine. Highly recommended. The atmosphere is great too.
M. T.
We found this pub by accident because of all the road works in the area.
The atmosphere is lovely the decor is beautiful the staff very friendly.
The menu is first class and is matched by the quality of the food which is absolutely first class.
This is one we will be adding to the address list to visit again. Give this pub a try and to will not be disappointed if
V. S.
Wonderful place, great and very nice staff, delicious food.
A. A.
The food here, off the main menu was very good and a group of us all had different items.
The staff were helpful and friendly but I presume there is a staff shortage in the main kitchen. We had to wait nearly an hour for our main meals, which was far too long and had no idea what was happening.
This was a special occasion but,unfortunately, I don't think we'll be back.
J. B.
We don't go there enough; a really cool well thought out environment in the restaurant gives the place a special feel and different from the norm. The food is equally as good and consistent. Great menu, worth checking it out.
F. L.
Booked a table online in the outdoor dining area three days in advance, only to be told on arrival that they’d decided not to open it (despite being the hottest day of the year). Was told they “might be able to find us a table in the restaurant” or we could sit at the picnic tables outside and order from the bar menu. Not a great start.
Ordered drinks. Took over half an hour to arrive. Booking was for 7:30 and the starters finally arrived at 8:45. Then followed a ridiculously long wait for the main course and more waiting for drinks. The food was superb but the service is poor. Should have more staff or less bookings if they can’t cope. Bill arrived within 5 minutes of asking for it.
S. H. C.
Delectable pizzas and Yakitori sticks of various sizes, with the latter available as starter, main, or sharing portions. Good selection of cocktails. Outdoor seating is clean and well maintained. Courteous table service.
D. W.
The food is absolutely amazing! Big fans of the skewers, but this time I went for a pizza, which was also great. The honey and chilli chips are unbelievable.
Got served by Lily and she was brilliant. All the staff were very friendly and smiling (which for 15-17 year olds isn't very common) and it created a great atmosphere.
I really like the decor too, it is just really nice. Great chain of pubs!
W. S.
Great food but a little to packed in for my liking, overly busy so lack of attention from staff but no faults of the establishment due to how popular it is.
Didn't like my fish and chips served in what I can only describe as a kitchen draw, far too pretentious. Restaurant far too hot was quite uncomfortable and I'm a cold blooded individual who likes it hot normally. Would recommend for others but I like simple so won't go back again.
J. G.
Love this place, delicious food, good service as always, cosy, blankets given on every chair if you get cold 🥰bless xx
S. P.
Second time visiting for me and both times were amazing. Great food, great service, attentive even when really busy! Table ready on time and not in any rush to make u leave when finished! Definitely recommend!
P. B.
First visit (3/6/22) party of 6. Taken straight to our pre-booked table by a lovely female member of staff who explained how everything is done.
The table was perfect with a lovely amd the place has such a nice ambience.
Seated and drinks order taken within 2 minutes by a super duper server, Ashly I think her name was.
Food timings were fully explained which was really nice and helpful
We all ordered starters, mains and deserts. The food ordered was delicious with a teeny niggle being a rib eye steak being slightly over cooked (asked for medium and it came medium-well) but that’s to be expected with a steak.
The final bill was actually cheaper than we expected especially considering the high level of service, food and location with the added bonus of a real gem in Ashly.
Would 100% recommend and without a shadow of doubt will be returning in the very near future.
Very very impressed with absolutely everything.
T.
Not sure if it's a separate menu at lunch but only went for the beef yakatori but they only had chicken on offer so wasn't pleased. Then to make matters worse, they forgot about us and we waited an hour between starter and mains on a quiet afternoon midweek. Also failed to bring out our drinks. The app ordering needs to be brushed up on!
K. B.
Normally very good and my favourite place to go but my last visit wasn't so great. The fish was VERY overcooked and the pizza was lacking in topping but had some awful curry sauce on it. The yakatori stick was lovely and the staff were pleasant.
N. F.
A lovely atmosphere, very pleasant inside and the food is fabulous. If you're a meat lover and have a large appetite, I'd definitely recommend it. Great service too.
F. H.
Great pizzas, also available with vegan cheese! Would be good if there were more vegan options on the menu however, as it's quite limited
D. L.
Firstly, it’s not a pub, it’s now a restaurant with a small space for walk-ins and drinkers. 98% of the venue is for pre-booked diners.
Great Pizza, not traditional - but very nice and reasonable for the size of pizza you get. The main menu isn’t as good, I’ve ordered many things from both menus over the last 6 years, the large meat sticks are ok - but oddly the steak sticks need to be cremated to be legally served… odd.
Some of the sides you can order are questionably expensive too, we’ve had to return the odd thing and ask it to be removed from the bill. But overall a great place for food and drink.
P. D.
Excellent meal, great service, thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish
H. R.
This is a pub I have visited since my distant youth. It was in desperate need of an overhaul and this has been successful. The food is consistently good and the pub is always busy.
Pre refurb locals were told that it would still be a drinkers pub, with cozy, comfy seating areas along side the dining. Sadly there is only one small, comfy, non dining zone, but if you're happy to sit on dining chairs to drink it's fine. Lovely outdoor area and dog friendly too
M. P.
Amazing food and drinks. The staff are always lovely too.
l. e.
Warm and cozy. Great place to catch up with friends and family. Large variety of meals available, with good portions and reasonable prices. Great atmosphere.
r. 1.
Brilliant food, great service and all for a low price, who wouldn't want that
P. D.
Great food, but way too much. Would appreciate fish and chips served on a plate, rather than in a box. Not entirely practical or easy to eat.
S. C.
Good food. Lovely service.
J. B.
Amazing food! Staff were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend
A. M.
Fantastic food and drink lovely staff and a brilliant atmosphere
L. H.
Gem of a restaurant hiding in the back of Quandron.
Massive beer gardens where the friendly staff are happy to greet and accommodate you.
Four different settings for dining.
Food is amazing, and the Pizzas are huge and full of toppings (go for a half half).
Highly recommended.
N. D.
Food amazing as always, prices not bad at all, good variety and atmosphere, however with it being a Saturday it was ram packed, despite booking a table we still didn't get it on time.
R. M.
Was a nice day with wife, atmopshere was very friendly and starters were great however i had beef stroganoff for the main and was shockingly poor. We also got extra sides we didn't order.
A shame as overall was a great place
E. C.
Service very slow which would have been ok had we been notified and not just sat left waiting and wondering. Food arrived after being under hot lights for too long so ended up being remade. Which was great but not what you expect… communication is key
L. K.
Gorgeous food ! we went for our youngest son's 18th birthday.. bit of attitude off the waiter when we asked if he could wait a minute while my eldest son surprised our youngest by turning up from Yorkshire.. wouldn't mind but it was 5 mins before the time we had booked our table .. didn't appreciate the rolling of eyes one bit .. and a point I'd like to make I got charged £2.25 for a shot of Bacardi and then £2.20 for a splash of diet coke !!!! That was dearer than a small lemonade 🤔 not sure how that works out ...but the food Is always top notch !!
C.
Visited twice recently and sat in the garden area, the place is wonderful. The outside is really cute and covered by a large pergola and fairy lights, it is also weatherproof with a cover over the top! They allow dogs too which is handy! The inside is spectacular and as if eating in the middle of a forest, it's honestly magical! Food prices are very reasonable and the famous cocktails do not disappoint! Pizzas were absolutely delicious and very pleasing to the eye! Every meal was very well presented and tasted great! Would highly recommend.
Y. B.
What a lovely place! Had a very nice lunch. Lovely, friendly staff, plenty of Covid safe measures in place. Really enjoyed it and happy to recommend. Here's a picture of the house lemonade 😁
M. S.
I can't believe the difference since the last time I visited this countryside pub. Great dining facilities. A superb outside atmosphere and lots of parking
J.
Lovely food, great service. Eva took our orders & was very attentive .Will definitely be returning
W.
Excellent pub and excellent service. Food-delicious! Not expensive. We ate pizza 🍕which is one of the best I have ever had. Also starting food is really tasty 😋 I would say the best pub in Derbyshire. Strongly recommended.
m. s.
Pizzas to share was good, Greek salad was very disappointed as it only contained rocket a small amount of feta (don't waste your money on this) it is a lovely venue.
I. B.
Good value food and the widest selection of beer I have ever seen in a restaurant/bar! The custom made fridge was huge!! Tasty food options with a Japanese style kebab, better than it sounds. We had a range for starters and they were tasty combos. You can also get a much larger version for a main. You must try the home made lemonade too! Cocktails are creative, food is impressive and the atmosphere is cosy. All round 5* service.
R. C.
What an amazing place great place to eat. I waited so long to go and did not disappoint. Great food and drink, nice interior rooms and garden room. Would highly recommend to any one Xmas menu was also good and reasonably priced for a three course meal before 3 pm.
C. W.
We visited this place 4 years ago for a date and to be completely honest enjoyed it, but didn't love it. Someone I know recommended it to me this week and realised we had been once before, returning today was a completely different experience. The place is great, an extensive range of cocktails, spirits, beers/ciders and wines along with pizzas as big as you can fit on the table for a very reasonable price and amazing stone baked fresh quality!! Absolutely fantastic, such lovely staff and I can confirm we will most definitely be back again very soon! Garden area this time though, lovely and lit up with fairy lights!
D. H.
What can I say to describe this place. Outstanding, brilliant, atmospheric, quaint, superb delicacies, exquisite food, delightful catering staff, fantastic decor. And so on and so on. Try this place out you will not be disappointed. Food is excellent with some really quaint and quirky ideas in presentation. The prices are a little steep for some but quantity and quality you can't falter. Enjoy the experience you will not find many more restaurant's that will beat it
D. P.
Fantastic country pub and very nice building. The food was great, however, the bar service was extremely slow. It was very busy, but they appeared understaffed.
This didn't detract too much from a lovely meal.
E. K.
Easy to book table online. We sat in the Indoor Garden Restaurant which was lovely!
Service is efficient but not rushed and staff are always very polite and professional.
The menu has a great selection and there is a vast selection of pizzas which I have had before and are delicious. However would say there isn't a great deal of choice if you are vegetarian. I had the trio of mini burgers this time which I would definitely recommend and was very filling. The halloumi fries are also to die for!
Massive drink selection too, whether you are looking for alcoholic or non alcoholic so feel there are options for everyone.
Lovely homely feeling all in all. Would recommend for a date night or with family and friends. Also feel it is value for money. We will be back!
K. T.
Very nice . Busy . Good atmosphere. Staff were pleasant . Will go again and try the food .
L. J.
They have to many covers qnd not enough staff.
Food was good but we had to wait ages to get our food.
P. L.
Great food and place.
It was busy, but the service could have been better..
H. F.
Great experience as always! Really nice food and friendly service. A little bit pricey but worthy it anyway.
A. L. M.
Indoors is quite cozy, however the outdoor space is really chilled. We had a pizza and a couple of drinks. Everything was lovely.
J. J.
Fabulous meal, staff couldn't have been more friendly. The food was delicious, amazing smelling freshly made pizza's. The gluten free menu was limited for this day and age, but the Thai Chicken was outstanding. The decor was really interesting, especially the massive pink tree. A very busy restaurant, but super fast service. Will definitely be returning soon. Thank you.
M. P.
The staff are great and their is a great atmosphere. They have a dog friendly section which does make it easier to go for food.
Unfortunately the food is a bit hit and miss. The food and pizzas are either over or under cooked. You just never know what you are going to get. I know they use a pizza oven which comes with its challenges, but if it not cooked it needs to go back in.
D.
My date has decided to take us here. Little did I know how fancy was the place she's invited me to, or how delicious the food will be.
I couldn't make a better burger if I had tried; the beef in the patty was simply next level.
Lovely staff, fantastic decor, food was absolutely delicious. For the price it costs, it definitely is worth it.
P. G.
The best dining experience I've ever had in a pub! The food was absolutely divine! Throw in excellent decor and really friendly staff and you have the complete package. Bravo!!
s. (.
Top quality food and atmosphere. Everything about this place is good. Me and my wife come here for a treat every now and then.
A. S.
Went for my mums birthday today, great food and great price. The staff were lovely and accommodating, I wish I had taken their names. They made us feel very welcome and brought out a special dessert at the end for my mum, it was very thoughtful. Thanks for making my mum's birthday a special day. From the group of 8, we appreciate everything :)
J. S.
I went with my family for my granddaughter 21st birthday the staff where very welcoming and friendly. Our meals were really nice I had fish and chips and I swear I've been to a few restaurants but I've never had a fish that big it was absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend The Joiners Arms at Quarndon you will absolutely love it.
k. b.
Nipped in for lunch whilst on a big walk. They had amazing small bites and big chunky chips. Homely atmosphere and good service.
D. P.
Beautiful food, super friendly staff. Highly recommended.
S. D.
We had issues with reservations on my birthday and they were generous enough to fit us in. We had a lovely time with quirky cocktails and perfectly cooked steaks with stilton and peppercorn sauces. They also surprised us with a lovely birthday treat with fudge gelato. Next time I'm definitely having the big stick skewers, a bathtub cocktail, and maybe a Bees knees if I'm sharing! Thanks for making our night special!
M. H.
Love Love love. From the service to the food to the lovely atmosphere. Definitely recommend!
N. W.
Fantastic meal and great value for money. We ate in the bar area and there was a lovely atmosphere and not too noisy. Will be coming back again.
a. h.
Great food, great staff, great surroundings
D. A.
Food was amazing staff friendly and welcoming would recommend this place
J. A.
Fabulous location, wonderful food, great service and good value.
B. B.
Great little pub. They have incredible decoration and a very cute outdoor area. The pizza was amazing would definitely go again.
T. B.
Went for my wifes birthday and was astounded by the quality of the food..Wasn't the cheapest place we've eaten but its hard to moan about cost when the food was that good..I myself had the ribeye steak and i can honestly say it was by far the best steak ive ever had..
P. F.
Lovely place to eat the food we had was fantastic and as for the strawberry dipped in chocolate & cookie dough in chocolate the best
V. P.
Great pub, my pictures are from the Garden Room, which was very picturesque and a little bit dark (I loved it, it made it warmer, but some may not like it).
Although some of my pics show empty tables, don't be fooled and book in advance, we called the day before and they only had three slots available.
The main bar looks very authentic homely traditional bar, and I'd quite happy have had a table in there also.
Their USP for the food appears to be yakatori sticks (look it up) starters were good and reasonably priced, I had the teriyaki beef for the main which was absolutely delicious, and with the two sides (included with that main, but you choose the sides from a list). I had three pieces of beef the size of my fist on the stick, a little too rare in the middle for my liking, but it was delicious and I suppose that due to the size if the middle was med/rare then the outside would have been overdone, so I'm not knocking points off for that.
This has been my favourite pub meal this year, well done Joiners Arms!!!
H. D.
Lovely place, delicious food. Go there hungry! Great range on the menu and good value. Fun cocktails. Lovely garden seating areas, cosy bar, indoor garden room would be nice in any weather - it's a sort of artificial garden in a marquee, done to look like twilight. Good for families or groups of adults, ideal for a larger group for a celebration - not sure if they have a private room. There is parking but it can get busy - booking advised. Go early on a Sunday if you want Sunday lunch!
S. C.
Lively staff and lovely food. I ordered through the app twice, first time went fine. Second time my order went into the abis because no one knew anything about it. Luckily the manager promptly apologised and refunded me for my food. Still visit regularly!
C. P.
Amazing setting and brilliant presentation of food. I've visited a number of times now and always say in the front bar area which is decorated in an old and cosy style. Other areas including a fantastic blossom tree, a rustic wall of bottles and a third area entails a scenic forest light by fairy lights.
For a lunchtime the wait was a little long and food a little on the overdone side of things. But overall service was brilliant. They catered to my nut allergy smoothly and with confidence.
Other than being a little crispy, the mountain of food served was incredibly put together.
Definitely recommend and will definitely be returning, maybe next time I'll have to try the blossom tree or forest areas.
T. S.
Great pizzas in a very popular village pub, also has a great choice of other meals on their menu. Very good choice of ales too.
T. T.
The food was great, the waiting staff were attentive- friendly but not overbearing.
We went for a meal after my elder daughter's graduation on the recommendation of some friends and we were not disappointed.
We were in the garden room which was really busy but it was well spaced out and it didn't feel cramped- lots of places we've eaten in cram tables together, but it was a very pretty room with lots of space.
My only criticism- and I do have a super sensitive nose, was that there was a slightly fusty smell every now and again which I think came from the flooring?
The food was excellent, lots of choice and well cooked and presented. Also a good range of drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic.
Definitely would go again.
m. l.
Lovely place and the staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was fantastic. We sat in the garden room and the setting was absolutely amazing!
J. E.
Great menu with choices to suit all.
Staff very helpful. Definitely going again
C. H.
Great food at good prices. The whole place is so beautifully decorated. Will definitely be returning!
S. C.
Very cozy place and the service is excellent.
Great variety of cocktails and the pizzas are great. Highly recommended.
L. M.
We have been countless times and always enjoy the food the drinks and the atmosphere. The staff are always friendly and helpful. It's a great place for any occasion.

We had a lovely evening, for our Granddaughters Birthday, very friendly staff and tasty food.
T. H.
Food was nice, great cocktails, lovely pub but slow service.
K. P.
Excellent in every way! Service food staff! Would recommend this place highly.
G. F.
Good Restaurant, big spaces, really modern, interior garden. Good beers and related selection of different foods and desserts. Terrace and free parking.
C. M.
The garden room is a beautiful place to eat in and the service is friendly and helpful. Didnt have to wait long for food either. Fantastic selection of drinks too
C. T.
First time we have been . Food was fantastic.
E. P.
Amazing place, nice atmosphere and good selection of drink and food esp skewers! The menu said 2-4 mini skewers per person was suitable for a starter - should be more like for a main, we way over-ordered!
D. S.
Great venue and beer with amazing food. Staff are helpful and efficient
S. L.
First impressions are that this is a beautiful place. Lovely atmosphere. Meals are quite big and reasonably priced. As it's so popular you will need to book sometimes well in advance. Maximum group size for the main table is 16. Very attentive staff make it a pleasurable night. Recommended
K. K.
Marvellous food , great choice and different. Staff polite and friendly. Atmosphere very good too. Certainly be back again.
P. L.
Brilliant !! Great food, great staff and the whole experience was first class.
L. R.
Went here for a birthday meal and it was excellent service and food. We had the sticks for starters which were lovely and the chicken for main.
The portion sizes are on the larger side though, so make sure your hungry or I would recommend sharing with a partner.
Highly recommend
J. B.
Delicious meals and excellent service. Very busy for a Wednesday very popular so book well in advance.
Y.
Firet time here. Great food, friendly staff. Happened to be a quiz night and as such was very busy
Recommend booking for a table. Will be visiting again.
P. S.
Really nice meal. Good food and plenty of it. Good surroundings although variable temperature in larger room at the back and bar service can be slow at times.
R.
Had a lovely night, fantastic food and cocktails!.. Maybe a little less ice 😉
M. S.
Deliouse food and dessert to die for. Staff very helpful and obliging. Definitely will go back.
A. K.
Good food, big portions, nice pizza
M. H.
Lonely 60th birthday party. Quality food excellent friendly staff. Unique service, recommended.
J. R.
First time here for lunch since the end of lockdown. Comprehensive menu of usual pub grub and some things a bit different.
Recommended from our lunch was the open steak sandwich and cajan chicken burger. Service was good and not too busy or though we did book to be on the safe side. Staff still wearing masks which was reassuring. Back on our list of go to places.
R. D.
Very pleasant and helpful staff - so accommodating for a special request (thanks, kitchen staff!). Food delicious and hot. Nice ambience, full compliance with covid cleaning requirements. Altogether a fantastic experience, wholeheartedly recommended!
T. B.
Beautiful setting in the garden room. Waitress Millie was very attentive, polite, friendly but professional. Food was fantastic from starters to puddings. Homemade lemonade is divine and recommended. All round 10/10.
L. P.
Beautiful place , fabulous food and very pleasant staff... thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
J. E.
Fantastic place to eat the staff are excellent & the food is amazing 👍
M. F.
Lovely quality place, top notch food and ales, gets busy so booking is advisable, lovely staff, great decor, oozes class!
L. S.
Wonderful, attentive staff .surprise dessert for birthday girl. All meals excellent.
A. B.
Absolutely amazing staff and food, can't fault it.
A. G.
Great atmosphere, really great food and we will definitely be going back again.
R. H.
Really excellent pizzas and good size! Everyone is really nice, helpful staff but not "too helpful".
D. D.
Great food, atmosphere and staff; shame about the beer. I can't fault the excellent kebabs nor the pleasant covered garden setting, and we had a lovely evening. Its just a shame that they didn't have the first two draft ales that I asked for from the menu, and when my third choice arrived they'd chilled it. Somewhere a CAMRA member is weeping into his beard.
J. D.
Unique! Great interior! Great food! Staff very friendly! In terms of wheelchair access able to enter from the garden room round the back.
S. C.
Lovely pretty pub especially inside. Food was delicious and generous portions. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Overall I would fully recommend this place to others looking for a nice meal out with family or friends.

Special shout out to our waiter "Olly" tonight. Absolutely fantastic service. He not only listened at the start of us ordering food and cocktails that we had every intention of ordering desert, but he reminded us our table was booked until x time, however if we were wanted to stay for desert he would try and move things around or find us a table outside in the sun if we'd prefer. Most waiters just smile and nod politely and when checking if everything is ok with our meals, are doing so out of routine because they have to. Olly seemed to genuinely be interested in our opinions and laughed and made recommendations based on what we were saying. We chose to eat dinner inside and have desert and a drink outside given it was a nice evening. Both areas were clean, stunning and the food was amazing. We had never been to a chilled pub before and drove especially to try it on word of mouth, would definitely go again. Just wish there was one in Nottingham - complete with an Olly for top customer service! Obviously we tipped but still, give that boy a pay rise - especially impressed given his young age!
V. S.
Venue mixed up the booking, but still managed to find us a table. I had chicken skewer, chicken was very very dry, the veg was loads & loads of grilled onion, with a few bits of pepper. The mushroom & spinach side was lovely as was the salad. Rather disappointed as it was my birthday meal :( We were also advised as they brought dessert they needed the table in 10 mins! The service in general was not very speedy, so we weren't very pleased about being moved to the garden while still eating desert.
T. B.
Fantastic place for a family get together, wonderful food, great choice of ales, wines and speciality cocktails. The service was second to none. I can't recommend this pub highly enough.
M. F.
Really nice food great staff 👍
J. P.
Great setting amazing food lovely selection of drinks
L. P.
Cocktails were amazing! Really great selection. However, the food wasn't the best. One friend ordered the falafel pitta and couldn't even manage to eat it due to the spicy sauce covering the entire falafel (that wasn't mentioned on the menu). Would be great if there was some warning of this!
Also, another friend ordered one of the sticks and the meat and onions were very burnt.
Lovely atmosphere, great drinks, just a big shame about the food. ☹️
j. w.
Unique restaurant with fabulous food and great staff. Arguably the best restaurant I have visited
M. R.
Went for mother's day really nice food and good friendly service.
K. F.
One of my favourite places to eat. Great range of food, the pizzas are excellent. Would highly recommend
Edit: recently the service has gotten much worse. Last time we went we waited nearly 2 hours to get our food and when we did get it they'd gotten the order wrong, and the food was to a much lower standard than usual. I get the feeling they're trying to do too much - it's a very large pub and maybe the kitchen and the number of staff they have can't support the number of seats they have.
J. S.
Absolutely beautiful food! First time there with friends and looking forward to our next visit already!
L.
One of my favourite pubs worth the 25min drive to get here... always busy, great atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food! 🥰@laurasally_sw
C. W.
Lovely venue, good food ,good value 👍
R. C.
Great food, great venue, plenty of space for seating, food produced looking good in a reasonably quick time tasting excellent.

Another excellent meal with great service. Nice friendly atmosphere generated by staff being thoughtful and attentive
H. W.
Excellent food, quirky drinks and a beautifully decorated place to eat! Staff were very friendly and helpful - especially our waiter, Olly. Definitely recommended and will be returning soon 👍👍👍
M. G.
Went for a anniversary meal and it was the best meal we have had for a long time. The staff were amazing and the food was excellent and for saying it was a damp Monday night in October the place was very busy and I am not surprised because the whole night was brilliant.
t. H.
Amazing venue and my food was fab! My guests steak however was quite a letdown though (all we could taste was the char on the outside). But all in all love the restaurant
a. s.
Came here with my friend on 6th Nov, both had pizza which, as always, was delicious and also, loving your cocktails so thank you Ugde for looking after us 😋

Fantastic pub with three distinct atmospheres: a cosy pub, a fancy restaurant, and a beer garden, making it a great place for a variety of occasions. I recommend the homemade lemonade (served with a surprise topping!)
A. L.
Love dinner, the pizzas were amazing and so big! We had to take some home, and great drinks, some fun non alcoholic choices too
K. R.
Lovely atmosphere, great food, but busy! Make sure you book a table in advance.
S. W.
Went last year between lockdown 1 and 2 for a birthday treat with the wife. What amazing food we had, it was cooked to perfection. Will definitely be returning here once we are allowed back out again. The staff where very friendly to nothing to small for them to help work. Thanks
G. T.
Lovley place, a bit expensive but the food is excellent and very friendly staff as they say you get what you pay for... Brill
B. B.
Went for my birthday the other evening and well what can i say, everything was perfect . Food was outstanding , the service was brilliant . You dont mind paying a bit more for this kind of quality . Highly recommend

Very nice meal out, steaks don't seem to be as good as they used to be. Still meals were very filling. Will call again. Atmosphere excellant.
j. h.
Cheers to Big Joe and the rest of the team we had a fantastic meal!
J Harvey aka (mini gammon)
C. M.
The food is incredible. It's nice warm and welcoming pub, loads of space so it doesn't feel like your all squashed in. And the staff are fantastic too. Iv been a couple of times now. The garden room is the best place to sit and the prices are not to expensive either. Definitely worth a visit.
S. K.
Me and my mates b99ked a surprise birthday meal for me... absolutely amazing! Food is really nice thats both mains and desserts! Arthur (our waiter) extremely professional individual! Paid attention to our orders as we had some special requirements! He did an amazing job well done! Overall atmosphere is really outstanding! Definitely will be coming back!
J. O.
Lovely cosy and homely atmosphere. The cocktails are exquisite! Try the 'bathtub ' you won't be disappointed
D. E.
Lovely to sit in the garden underneath the fake tree. Nice staff, attentive, pizza was a little slow but wasn't a problem. Big portions, took half of it home :-)
A. P.
Excellent pizza! Very busy also during the week. Cheap prices and very nice location. Highly recommended
J. Y.
Walked to the Joiners Arms from Allestree. Had the Joiners Club sandwiches. Well worth the money.
S. K.
This was our first visit and definitely won't be the last. The food was very nice. Staff were all friendly and a big thank you to Sarah who looked after us all evening.
S. K.
Really good find a little bit shocked at cost at first but worth every penny amazing variety of food and portion sizes were emense cannot wait to go back
E.
Right! I like this place. I like the environment , the people and the food. BUT! The last time that I visited the service was not the best.
The waiting staff that was serving us appeared to be disorganised and had taken their eye off the ball. Not sure why or what went wrong, but it wasn't the best.
On a positive note the manager became aware of this issue and he responded to this accordingly.
Other than this one and only hiccup that I have experienced at this establishment, overall I have been very happy with the previous level of service that I have received and this one incident shall not deter me from visiting again.
e. s.
Super place we got a welcome like royalty the food was great and staff were very friendly tha waitress that served us was extra special her name was Izzy a manner of staff to be proud of I give 10 out of 10 for our evening out
f. w.
Really lovely pub, good range of menu choices, dog-friendly, great atmosphere. The large car park can get busy, so if you have a big car you'll need to take care - it can be a bit tight to navigate. Food reliably excellent, but the homemade tartare sauce was predominantly garlic-flavoured on last visit, which was a shame. Would still very much recommend visiting for drinks and/or food.
M. D. (.
Fab pub.. great food...friendly staff x Cocktails amazing x
S. H.
Food and service both exquisite. Very busy during peak times, cocktails varied and fantastic. Could do with more parking.
s. c.
Lovely surroundings, still very festive. Helpful staff, nice food, well presented
J. F.
Good tasty food and friendly efficient staff.
V. F.
Booked a table for lunch and everything was brilliant!
Very covid safe, greeted at the door, details taken, everything well spaced and clean. Service and food were amazing.

Lovely place, great food, so much choice, very good value, chips are exceptional. Can't wait to go again
a. O.
Absolutely fantastic place, loved the tree in the middle of the room, service was excellent, food was delicious, felt very safe (regarding the virus,) I cannot fault this place, and although it was a 40 min drive to get there I would and will definitely be going again. 11/10

Awesome food and service was brilliant
N. B.
Good food and lots of it. Can get very busy.
S. D.
A fantastic place, great food, lovely staff, a great selection of drinks!
G. B.
Awesome food great place nice atmosphere would recommend every time
J. T.
Great time. Food very nice although chicken a little dry in burger. But first class chips and everything else tasty. Amazing desserts.
T. S.
Called in with high expectations, didn't live up to the hype, We had a trio of sliders, nothing special but ok, would come back and try something different, staff are friendly and the place is lovely.
B. B.
Really nice, helpful staff, great food. Very popular by the looks of things and some wacky cocktails being served. Will visit again.
M. A.
Beautiful pub, the garden room is amazing and the pizzas are to die for!
Well worth a visit even if your having a put in a bit of a drive, you won't regret it!
N. R.
Food was amazing such a lovely chilled out atmosphere and the staff where fab. We will be back.
J. B.
Loved it! Very nice. Great ambience at all times and the food is phenomenal. I come here every time I visit Derby
M. P.
Food looked good but ours took a while to get ordered. There was a big delay in our table being seen generally because there was a large party in. Staff was apologetic. Steak wasn't cooked rare, rather medium, so order the blue. Will try it again for a better experience. Value was good and atmosphere good too.
N. B.
Excellent food and service. All the little touches made the visit even more special
J. J. B.
Always a pleasure. Food is beautiful. Been lots of times and never had a bad meal. Menu is varied and interesting. Big portion sizes. There's also a pizza oven. Staff are attentive and work very hard, nothing is ever too much trouble. The atmosphere is great, especially at the weekend when it's always popular.
J. D.
The food was great, and very reasonably priced. The Garden Room was lovely and spacious, but you'll have to book! The staff were immensely friendly and happy to help. The drinks menu was plentiful, and the bathtub cocktail was a definite highlight...
M. V.
Food is always delicious and the staff are always super helpful. Usually book a table on the day via the website (weekday) and can get a table with ease. I like the option of being able to sit in the bar area to eat or in the garden room where there is fairy lights and beautifully decorated. Will always come here!
G.
Went to the Joiners Arms today for food, what a great place, went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary after it had been recommended by a friend, the food was amazing, so tasty and loads of choice and all the staff were very helpful and polite but a special thanks has to go to Olly who was our server today during our meal, he really went the extra mile and made it special for us, thank you very much Olly, we were so happy we have booked a table for the following week.
M. G.
Lovely meal and social distancing was well thought out. Great night, i will be back again soon
M. B.
HUGE selection of beers on the menu
HUGE portions of food, the pizzas are sooo big I've never seen anyone finish them and yes they have boxes if you want to take it home with you
Amazing interior with some dinning around a large tree
The other side of the pub is standard pub atmosphere with families and friends having a great time
Staff are lovely
I've seen dogs inside so....DOG FRIENDLY!!
outside seating and wonderful views
T. E.
What a place. Food was amazing and so was the service. Will be going many more times.
L. D.
It was really pretty and the staff are very friendly
P. B.
Loved it ,food excellent, service good ,staff very nice,we had a lovely birthday meal, couldn't fault a thing ,thank you ..😀
m. s.
Busy, but plenty of staff, not the cheapest but generous meals we'll cooked. Would welcome more vegetarian choices but the Chilli is divine
J. B.
Beautiful place, beautiful food however table service on this occasion was dreadfully slow, food was cooked and presented amazingly unfortunately it had been sitting at least 20 mins before it was served to us as it turned up cold otherwise I'd be shouting you a big five stars.
S. P.
Amazing food
L. E.
Absolutely beautiful restaurant. Amazing food and the staff are all lovely!
L. W.
Pricey drinks however good prices for the food and boy do you get a good portion!! Service very good
D. R.
Stopped by for lunch on a Monday. What an awesome pub. Fantastic 'different' menu. We opted for the cajun chicken stick and gammon stick - huge portions of delicious meat n roasted veg on a hanging stick! Lovely sides. Great decor, and very comfortable vibe in there!
Reasonably priced - and brilliant service from all the staff - can't fault the place.
Will defo go again! 5*****
M. B.
This is a very lovely pub, the food is very good and the staff are brilliant very helpful.
K. L.
Absolutely loved the food here! My boyfriend got the big meat skewer and it was amazing (I stole quite a bit of it...). My chicken sandwich was also delicious. We keep talking about wanting to go back even though neither of us live close to the pub. Highly recommend
C. E.
Delicious food, great service, and a relaxed atmosphere
C. P.
Visited yesterday lovely place food v good portions well cooked apart from cold peas unfortunately the whole experience marred by a bottle of corked wine. Ordered prosseco as aperitif n asked to bring the rioja opened to allow to breath. d nt ask us to try it when I tasted it it was badly corked .this happens but then it took ages to change the wine n tried to say it had a strong bouquet! It smelled fusty by the time they brought a new bottle diff wine no more rioja reserve left we had finished our main. V badly handled disappointed 😞
Such a pity
A. W.
The food was great, and very reasonably priced. The Garden Room was lovely and spacious, but you'll have to book! The staff were immensely friendly and happy to help. The drinks menu was plentiful, and the bathtub cocktail was a definite highlight...

Excellent, great food, ace pub, helpful friendly staff, Chris our waiter was really nice,
T. S.
Just the best food & atmosphere. You have to try it. We drive 20 miles just to come this place....fantastic food & cocktails!!
C. P.
Nice season atmosphere. Very busy Friday before Christmas lunchtime. Staff were efficient and quite personable. The pub itself has a pleasant, modern take on rustic feel to it. Food is good with some interesting twists. Cask beer choice a little disappointing with few locally brewed ales available.
E. K.
Delicious food, great service and lovely place. Definitely 5☆
C. S.
Food is second to none, pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff good service, beautifully decorated, an oldie worldy pub/restaurant 10 out of 10
H. R.
Delicious pizzas, especially the Vegas! We were served by Jess who was an absolute angel. She was bubbly, attentive and really went the extra mile. We just happened to mention that we're moving house tomorrow and she surprised us with a farewell gelato which was such a touching sentiment. Give jess a promotion! <3
C. T. (.
Great food, great atmosphere! The BBQ chicken sticks are really good value and the pizzas are freshly cooked in a traditional pizza oven. I've been with large groups and they are always very accomodating.
j. 2.
Best food and drinks and atmosphere in on place
C. W.
Always love going to the joiners. Lovely atmosphere and great food. We were outside and limited to the pizza menu but loads of choice of toppings. Will be going again.
T. J.
A really fantastic place for food and drinks. Having transformed the place into a takeout and shop during the lockdown, they really do go above and beyond to provide such a service. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and their take away pizzas are amazing!
M. B.
Nice food. Service not great but to catch up with friends after so long was fantastic
T. H.
I had a meal last week in RICK STEINS, THE CORNISH ARMS...and by far THE JOINERS ARMS is a much better place to eat..food quality is much nicer, the staff are fast and cheery, overall top marks for everything. Thanks again The JA
n. l.
Amazing atmosphere and food. Dogs also welcome
N. F.
Went here on a recommendation and it didn't disappoint. Lovely venue with great food, I'll be back next time I'm in Derby
M. A.
Food was delicious. Loved the fairy lights, which were placed in all the eating areas, which made for a very relaxing place to eat.
S. B.
Fantastic venue for a meal out.
M. B. (.
Dog friendly, friendly staff and lovely food.
Easy to use app for ordering from you table.
N. F.
First time visit here & wasn't disappointed.
The food came piping hot & the portions were massive.
I had the fish & chips & when it arrived,I gasped at the sheer size of it.
My wife & daughter, both had a burger, both huge, with a generous portion of crispy chips, while my son in law chose the Mac n cheese chicken waffles.
We had planned on having a dessert, but we didn't even attempt one as we were all full to the brim.
The staff were polite & friendly & the service was excellent.
We will definitely be returning here to in the future & recommend it highly.
T. A.
Excellent food, attentive staff and a beautiful outside seating area! 10/10
S. P. -. F.
Really good place with a great menu. We ordered a pizza and a main dish and we were surprised to see how generous the portion sizes are. Only problem is its always very busy (but that shows how many ppl like the pub). Highly recommend this place.
J.
Great food, friendly staff wasn't too bad on price
J. W.
I have been here twice now. The first time was a busy saturday evening and the food was amazing. I raved about it! I came back with a group of 12 at midday and half of us had issues with the food. I will return and hope it was just a 1 off as the first time was so good!! The drinks are reasonably priced and delicious.. especially the homemade lemonade.
L. M.
Lovely Birthday meal.
Booked a table which was wise as the bar and restaurant was full. Plenty of soft and alcoholic drinks to choose from. Polite staff. All food that was ordered was lovely, although the burgers could be slightly more cooked. Pizza comes out at different times to other mains, however the timing wasn’t too different. Free birthday board was served with gelato. Only issue was we were pushed from our table as the bill was slammed down when we hadn’t asked for it. Nevertheless it was a pleasant experience and would return again.
L. S.
Absolutely fabulous meal. Atmosphere, food and friendly efficient staff all second to none. We dined in the Garden Room which was wonderful, the whole pub was busy, but there were plenty of staff to make sure everyone was well looked after. Would highly recommend and we will be returning very soon. A real gem!!
G. D.
Fabulous food. Great atmosphere. We popped in for a drink with our dog and were made really welcome so decided to stay for a bite to eat. Staff were very polite and Charlotte and her team looked after us, nothing was too much trouble, even the dog got treats. Will be back soon with dog in tow. Thank you.
k. h.
One of the nicest places we have been. The garden room is amazing as is the food. The food might be slightly pricey but don't let that put you off. Brilliant selection of ales & all the staff are very polite & friendly. We will definitely be back
d. l.
Lovely meal and good waitress.
B. E.
Absolutely awesome. Good value, excellent quality and a massive choice of food. The pizzas are outstanding.
Good range of drinks including cocktails, traditional ales and craft/continental beers.
Really nice warm and inviting traditional pub atmosphere. Decent sized car park that's well lit.
Wood burning stoves are incredibly powerful but add a really nice sense of cosyness to the place.
G. R.
Has a really good reputation but honestly disappointed. They got several of our dishes wrong and missed the tofu our of the tofu dish, one had to be corrected twice. Really busy and the staff were rushed off their feet. Great atmosphere and lovely surrounding but didnt meet expectation for us.
A. W.
Wow our first time dining here and was not disappointed, the service was perfect and the food was incredible. You can tell the chefs love what they are doing and the proof is in the taste. Will definitely be heading back again soon. Keep up the great work.
C. V.
Had a really good dinner with my wife on Saturday night. The staff were really nice and the place was well spaced out / run given the current pandemic. Enjoyed my dinner, will go back.
B. J.
Booked for lunch (12.00 pm). Had 3 little "sticks" - beef, prawn and salmon with a side of coleslaw - daughter had chicken sandwich and chips. Was fairly quiet at that time but very soon got busy.
Food came quite promptly and was very tasty tho rue not ordering more.
Staff very friendly and personable.
Was blown away by the number of craft beers on offer - had a couple of Brooklyn largers.
Really good atmosphere but would imagine at busy times the place would be bouncing - well worth considering pre-booking when going.
Bill came to 25notes - not a bad price for a decent lunch for 2 with drinks.
Would definitely be going again.
A. B.
Visited for quiz night (Monday's) which was good. Complimentary garlic bread if taking part in the quiz. Only issue is there's clearly not enough chairs because people take chairs from other takes and staff don't really seen to try and ensure everyone is eaten. We would've offered food quite a bit of food while playing the quiz but not while we were stood so I guess that's four meals revenue lost. Food and service always great at The Joiner's but on Quiz night it's as if you're in a different pub... get there super early just to get a table!
g. b.
Excellent food and a great pub
A. L.
Just been for a meal with family, the food is outstanding, service was great and staff are friendly and helpful. We were a party of 8 and it was busy but not once were we pressured to leave.
The only thing I would say is that it really needs air con to make it more comfortable, but other than it's possibly the best pub dining experience we've had.
S. B.
The food & atmosphere are superb as is the service. 1st time visit tonight already planning the next.
R. B.
Love the decor and cosy feel of the place. Quality of the food was excellent and the garden room is a sight to behold! Pizzas are great and can be taken away. Quality and range of beers and ciders is quite impressive. Really like the place all in all but 4 star's not 5 as service was really slow and we're eating at 6pm on a Tuesday.
C. M.
Excellent service. Enjoyed beef rib very tasty, well presented with homemade coleslaw and hand cut chips.
S. D. B.
Really nice, uniquely casual cool ambiance without being pretentious. Staff are clearly well trained and very helpful and friendly. Food is a good choice at reasonable rates, everyone at our party enjoyed everything and the portions are hearty. They were even willing to offer a procecco in place of a cocktail that was not really what the girls expected. Top night I am sure we will return.
D. F.
A proper pub feel to this establishment with a great selection of beers and brill food.
r. d.
Very very nice meal served by Macy
B. B.
WOWZERS! The fish and chips are amazing. Looking forward to great meals and continuing great service in the future xx
T. N.
Great food is a little pricey but worth it only concern they don't take cash as payment...can not see why not as not all of us are happy to tap and pay
S. L.
What a gem this place is!
Upon my first visit here it was obvious to understand why it is so popular and often so busy that booking in advance is extremely advisable (certainly on weekends).
The food served here is excellent quality with something for everyone and is served with an extremely generous portion size so beware! The drinks menu has everything that you would expect and more (Ale, Cocktails, Gin, etc.). The staff tend to be very welcoming and their attitude to their job certainly shows how happy that they must be to be working there.
I do however have one issue, which is the overall waiting time for food from the main menu. Although the food quality is set at a high standard, the waiting times have often reached 50-60 minutes which I simply cannot ignore. Good food does need to be prepared but a 60 minute wait for 2 main meals is not acceptable.
Apart from that one issue there is simply nothing else that needed to be highlighted. If you simply want a good meal or are planning something a bit more special then I would certainly have The Joiners Arms on my list of potential places to visit.
J. H.
The food, drinks and service are faultless, as always
M. S.
Lovely food. Great place and lovely friendly staff x
s. k.
Great atmosphere really excellent customer service. Just a couple of things let the place down. Being vegetarian we were pleased with the choices available. Unfortunately once there we were told the halloumi was not suitable for vegetarians. Usually most places have halloumi as an alternative to meat this reduced our choices. We asked to have Sunday dinner just without the meat component. Unfortunately Sunday dinner stops at 2 hence further reducing our choices. In the end we managed to choose food acceptable to us. The food arrived and I must say it was presented beautifully both the veggie and meat eaters amongst us were impressed. Unfortunately the taste did not match the presentation. I would have scored a 5 out of 5 had it not been for these few things. However I would go again and would become a regular if there was enough variety of dishes to suit vegetarians.
P. Q.
What a lovely place. Really enjoyed the food...1 yakarori...1 open mushroom sandwich and one Thai beef salad. Staff really nice. The conservatory room we were in had a magical feel, comfortable. And the exterior space and carpark was lovely, well kept with great shrubs and plants. Although a wall had been knocked down and looked untidy. But that is easily remedied. We had a lovely time.
a. c.
Excellent food - we had a half and half pizza plus chips and onion rings. Everything was delicious and served quickly. Friendly and helpful staff - good beer and excellent Bellini and liquer coffee. As regular visitors we can highly recommend.
M. H.
Lots of bottled beers and ciders, lovely pub with a full size Cherry Tree in the restaurant. Lovely pub and quite Romantic as well
A. P.
Celebrating 2 wedding anniversaries same day same year with friends, we hadnt said anything but when staff found out they brought us both a wedding anniversary board, such a lovely touch & it made the evening special. Food was still the same high quality a very small minor as there was a large party going on we did have to wait longer than normal for the food but have still given 5stars as the whole experience was worth it. Thank you.
M. J.
Great atmosphere even on a Thursday evening. Very big portions - we shared a selection of yakitori sticks and pizzas. Good flavour and well presented. We will definitely be back again.
K. H.
Went here for lunch on an impulse and very glad we did. The food was great, staff were pleasant and polite and the decoration of the pub is very nice and rustic. Will definitely be returning again.
A. G.
Fantastic food and cocktails/mocktails. Huge seating area. Would definitely recommend.
P. C.
This has to be my favourite pub in Derby for food, they have a lovely atmosphere. The fish and chips is fresh and not microwaved. Huge servings, just a really nice relaxing time I spend here. Very busy but very cosy.
S. C.
The food is always good here but I have had a few issues with slow service in the past but tonight was excellent on both fronts. Desserts are rather overpriced & the cookie dough dessert which says it is big enough to share definitely isn't but overall an improvement in my previous 2 visits.
D. v. R.
First time here
Was very busy so being served was a bit slow but expected.
When the food came out it was worth the wait. Absolutely doodley lovely with all 6 main meals. Steak was done spot on !
Pudding ( if you can fit one in ) was gorgeous.
Not the cheapest of place but the quality of food reflex this ( You get what you pay for )
All in all this is a fabulous place for a meal for 2 or a meal for the whole family / friends.
Would go back again
Rate 9 / 10
D. A.
Fantastic food and dining experience. The garden room is very special.
C. B.
Absolutely outstanding food! Me, my husband and 2 children really enjoyed our meal and the service was wonderful. Would highly recommenced the skewers. We all loved them.
T. B.
Good service. Very busy a large variety of beer. I had a steak nicely cooked the rest of the meal was not quite to my taste. The peppercorn sauce was mediocre chips warm onion rings warm. The garlic Confit? Was a full roasted bulb of garlic. Food also requires seasoning.
L. F.
Have dined here many times and although the food last night was excellent again I have to say I was disappointed by our visit. With two young children, we had booked a table for 5pm but were told the table wasn't ready when we arrived. We weren't seated until 5.30 and after waiting for our two courses (long waits in both cases) we finally left at 7.40 pm. Our server and all the staff were very apologetic and polite but it was just a disappointing visit.
M. H.
Boutique on an industrial scale.
From the rammed super-sized car park, to a crowded popular bar with lengthy waits for slow service it's clear this place churns through loyal customers on a daily basis and probably for good reason. The food is good and the atmosphere warm. But it's just poorly delivered with _really_ slow bar staff who seem hassled (but very pleasant). Service is good and clearing away rapid. But the scale and the speed just made this really frustrating for a visitor, locals clearly knew how to navigate past the six waiting for service. Summer promises a huge outdoor eating area. But on this scale I'm not sure it's my kind of rustic pizza boutique.
P. D.
Just brilliant! Well organised busy work force.
Food excellent and good quality and value.
Very impressed.
R. W.
Great food and staff
N. W.
Very nice place. Loads of parking. Great food and good portions. Well cooked and we'll presented for reasonable money. This place is more than pizzas. It's busy and you'll need to book at a weekend. I went on a Thursday and we got a table. But it was a full house shortly after we arrived at 7pm or so.
Z. K.
Food was amazing!! Lovely family atmosphere
M. H.
Fantastic pub. Super service...much improved from the old JA. Great selection of beers, wheat beers, lagers, low and no alcohol. Pizza is brilliant with the chilli garlic bread...not your average garlic bread. Others sticks look amazing
..so I am going to try those next time and we won't be waiting long to return either! Serving staff really good , checked for allergies. Server even informed us she was going on a break and said she'd see us before we left and she did! Highly recommended. The tree room is superb and gives some privacy so you feel like you have your own space.
G.
Excellent menu choice, service and cleanliness. Lovely atmosphere. Would definitely go again.
R. W.
Food = fantastic
Decor = great
Service..... Meh!
Been around 8 or 9 times now.
Seems to be mainly kids working behind the bar. Sometimes they're stood about just having a chat whilst you wait to be served. They need to be a little more aware.
Once we had table service (in the gorgeous garden Room). Problem was there was no service. No "how is your food?, and no asking if you want another drink. I had to flag a staff member down to order a diet coke and after 20 minutes it hadn't arrived. I went to the bar to find out what was going on, only to find the staff standing around having a chat, and my drink sat on the bar waiting for their "table service" to bring it to me. Obviously by this point I was thirsty, wanted something to drink with my food, so just grabbed it from the bar myself, with the staff paying little attention as always. So much for table service. This was on a Monday evening and fairly quiet.
On another trip we wanted to sit outside. We were told they only served pizza outside because their kitchen isn't big enough to cater for that many tables. To be fair, if the place is busy I completely understand this policy and agree with it. But when we went it was quiet and my fiancee wanted a burger. So I asked ... "But there's nobody in here, can't you serve a burger outside?" and was told no.
I then went to open a tab, as I usually do. "No tabs are only for outside as we don't have enough card keys for outside" I was told. I replied with "yes but I can see behind you there's only 3 card keys in use, and over a dozen free, and again, there's not many people here". I was told no. Very frustrating that sitting outside effectively makes you a second class citizen even if they have the resources available to treat you as they would do inside. We had no choice but to go inside as my fiancee wanted a burger. Rather ridiculous when it really wasn't that busy.
This place is beautifully decorated, cozy, in a nice location, and the food is really good. It's just real shame that poor training of staff and policies that haven't been thought out properly let it down. Hopefully this will improve in future as we do enjoy going there :)

Great food, good choice of drinks. Book early though as it is full most nights, which says it all.

Good service and ambiance so will return for another try !!!

Fantastic local gastro pub on the edge of the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Great for couples or families. Food and drinks fairly inexpensive for the location. Depending on the time of year it may be better to book a table particularly in the evenings. During summer there is outdoor seating so you can enjoy the warm balmy evenings in a lovely setting.
B. G.
Lovely food ..always served hot
Statt very polite and friendly.
L. H.
Just perfect, great friendly staff, lovely food, and ambiance.
R. B.
A lovely place, food is excellent as is the service. We were shown straight to our table menus given, our drinks order taken etc we didn't have to wait long for our meal which was beautiful. Will definitely go again for a special treat as a bit more expensive than your every day pub grub to go every week, but most definitely worth it and would definitely recommend a visit
T. M.
Fantastic food, superb pizzas from a traditional wood fired oven. Portions are huge, you won't go away still feeling hungry. The jerk chicken is ferociosly hot, be warned.
Great choice if drinks available. Booking in advance is essential.
J. B.
Six of use went and we found the food was wonderful. Very friendly staff this is the first time we have been really good value we travelled thirty miles and we will definitely will be going back.

I was staying overnight in Derby and had never heard of this place but my daughter suggested it. A very good choice as it transpired. Very good menu selection including a good vegetarian range. Ehen ordering we were specifically asked if we had any allergy issues. Food prepared and cooked to order and served punctually. Meal was very enjoyable and good value. The dining room is quitre quirky too.

Absolutely fabulous place. Easy parking, and great seating whether inside or out. Staff are incredibly friendly, and whether having the yakitori sharing skewers or the pizza, the food is absolutely delicious. Will definitely be coming back, if only to try other dishes from their extensive and varied menu!
T. S.
The food is super tasty! The venue itself is gorgeous which so the atmosphere is always warm and friendly!

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime for a family Birthday. Excellent food and service throughout. Would highly recommend.
C. P.
Good food freindly atmosphere.

Great Christmas Dinner, service, and atmosphere. The lager is excellent too.
A. R.
Wonderful. Fantastic staff, delicious food, quality decor and ambience. Loved it.
R. L.
Lovely surroundings and the staff are great.
Food was good but not as good as the Bulls Head, shame they can't put steaks and gammon on plates instead of sticks and boards, as the young girls really struggle carrying them. Also don't wear anything thick as it's like a sauna inside even though it wasn't cold outside.
A. M.
Came here for a birthday meal and the food was lovely however we were disappointed when, half way through eating dessert, we were told that we needed to vacate our table for another booking. We appreciate the fact that it was busy, especially with it being bank holiday. Although, we paid a fair price for the pudding and I couldn’t eat it because we were told to move.
C. L.
Pizza is always brilliant from here, love how they allow half and half pizza's. Food comes quickly and the layout and feel of the pub is cosy.
M. S.
Fantastic service and meal even though it was a very busy Saturday night.
W.
Really enjoyable experience , pizza and cocktails were the stand out items. Will definitely be returning soon !
R. J.
Lovely Food and Service Went for a Special Birthday treated me like a Queen would highly recommend a Visit
M. S.
Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. Kids loved the Pizzas, which are huge and we enjoyed our meals. Very busy when we got there but the wait for food was very reasonable.
In summary good tasty food with friendly staff. Not the cheapest place to eat but well worth it.
O. W.
Great Pizza and Sides - one of the best places to eat in the area period.
A. J.
Very busy due to deserved popularity. The restaurant was efficiently run and despite being at capacity there was no waiting for service. The pizzas that we ordered were generously topped and great quality. Excellent value.
J. A.
Contemporary popular family cuisine served by ' happy' and pleasant staff. Good ambiance. Quality of food and service good. Not over priced. Pub section also good.
E. H.
Lovely food, exceptional service and really friendly staff!

We went for a meal in a large group, our table was pre-booked. The place was extremely busy (it was a Saturday evening). I had the 10oz 35 day matured rib-eye steak. At £20 It wasn't the cheapest I'd ever had. The steak arrived cooked perfectly to my liking accompanied with delicious home cooked chips, beer battered onion rings, mushroom, tomato and confit garlic. The service was welcoming, helpful and friendly. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals.

You have to come to this place. My fiancé and I were passing through for lunch on our way back to London and found this little gem! If I could give it more stars I would. This has everything, outstanding food, very good service, lovely staff, great atmosphere, cocktails, a large selection of craft beers and cider, comfortable seating, parking...even the toilets were awesome! Thank you for such an enjoyable lunch. I wish we could have stayed to enjoy it for longer.
M. A.
It's a lovely lovely pub/restaurant where even in this day and age... Familes n friends can enjoy a social distancing nice quiet meals and drinks and chat. Perfect pub for a summers night....a place where u can feel relaxed without crowds around u.
Thanks for a nice time. 😉👍xx
G. C.
Never had a bad meal here although service can be a little sparse. For example it can be difficult to get additional items during the meal or the bill at the end. Service staff are very polite and attentive but there could be more of them.
J. S.
Always have a pleasant time here..... I go once or twice a week. Always good service and good food. Lovely outside area to wine and dine - limited menu available outside. Can't really fault it....
Perhaps the service could be a little quicker at the bar....??? Other than that it's cracking! Will continue to go back again and again!

Food was absolutely fantastic, don't think I've ever had such well-cooked, well-presented & delicious pub grub! Very busy for mid-week but had booked into the garden room which was glorious - like a meditteranean or greek terrace but indoors. Lots of lovely outdoor seating for those long summer evenings with pleasant, helpful staff. My OH doesn't generally like eating out but has already said he'd go there again. Well done Joiner's!
S. S.
Nice chilled out pub with delicious food! I had several of the mini sticks/skewers which were yummy! My partner had one of the big skewers which was equally as tasty! I have to go back to try more of the mini sticks... And maybe a cocktail as they looked amazing!!!
J. M.
Recommended by someone at work, would go back time and time again! Need one of these pubs in Nottingham though pleeeeeaaaseee!
L. Y. H.
Lovely terrace, food was amazing and very reasonably priced for the quantity and quality of the food. It was very busy and you probably need a reservation at times. They do quizzes as well and have a desserts menu if you want to spend the evening chilling in there.
T. A.
Lovely place friendly staff however they all seemed so young. The service was fast the food was nice such flair and fun presentation. Great outside seating I think it was 3 separate gardens. All of us failed to eat all of our food. We had 2 types of yakatori skewers and a pizza Woah half and half option was massive got a takeaway box so we could take it home!. The only complaint I had was that the beef yakatori was so dry I asked for it rare and to be fair was advised by waitress it wasn't possible. I ordered it anyway but it came very well done which to me is a non edible way to serve beef. (I was warned to be fair) The sides are great and the cocktails are brilliant. My companions had puddings and loved those also. Cannot wait to come back :)
K. R.
Mixed review. You order a meal but don't expect to get what you ordered as there will probably be a mistake or variation to the menu . It was incredibly busy and I ordered a Tikka Tofu but it never came with tofu, sent it back and got a red Thai curry minus broccoli but with tofu? So sent this back as very spicy and ordered a halloumi salad instead which was very vinegary but nice, it was just a shame the party I was with had finished. The wait was huge due to how busy it was. The children's meals were a good size and good quality. Other members of our party had minor variations in their meals also (one ordered a sweet chilli stick and got bbq etc) which were less of an issue but there does seem to be 'checking issues'. Desert only one issue when ordering as again got something other than what was ordered. My chocolate sundae though was lovely.
J. G.
Food was amazing! Great choice on the mains, large variety of wines ciders beers and gins!!! Service was excellent atmosphere was lovely would recommend booking as it was very busy!!! 😃
j. d.
Staff friendly. Food arrived quickly despite it being busy & there being a big group of us. Large portions. Reasonably priced. Lovely atmosphere. Would definitely go again.
N. R.
Excellent innovative food and friendly service in a welcoming pub with an impressive indoor garden dining room as well as traditional dining areas. Lots of happy diners, both families and groups, when we had Saturday lunch there.
S. R.
Very nice place to go for a meal or just drinks . Extensive range of beers, wines and ales , does get busy so it's best to book. We ate here and the food and service were good, we'll come back in the summer and sit in the lovely outside area.
K. P.
Been for a meal tonight, the place is lovely, very nice staff. But my son's meal came out as lemon chicken he had ordered gammon she said she must have missed heard he said he would have that didn't want to cause any fuss she knocked the price of his drink £3 off the bill. Now I've got home and thought about it she read the order back to us no mention of lemon chicken I feel cheated
H. B.
Great food, garden room is lovely, staff friendly and efficient.
R. G.
Lovely food with good value for money, great friendly service, such a nice place to eat and drink, would definitely recommend.
M. H.
Good food. Reading the menu it appears a little expensive but for the quality and portions that you get it's good value. Service is good. Lovely old building with a lot of character.
R. A.
Top quality food.
Services can be a little slow but highly recommended to eat out!
a. g.
Friendly staff well laid out brilliant atmosphere excellent meals A+
D. W.
Been for lunch today with friends and couldn't praise the food and staff enough. I have a nut and Sesame allergy and the staff and manager went above and beyond to make sure everything was OK for me. We'll definitely be returning.
J. W.
Olde world gastro pub with VERY impressive range of beers and ciders. Went to celebrate my wife's birthday and were looked after really well (thanks Ellie...). Place gets very busy and booking is strongly recommended and can easily be done on-line. Food of exceptional quality and agree with previous reviews you really do need to be hungry when you go here. Prices appear high but when compared pro-rata with the amount of food you get it still remains excellent value for money!! Not especially disabled friendly on arrival but when leaving were directed towards an exit with level access to the car park so this is not really an issue but would have been nice to have known about it on arrival!! A thoroughly wonderful evening spent at a venue so close to home. Thank you management and staff at the JA !! Well done, will come again but starve ourselves first to do the food the justice it deserves!!
D. S.
Used to love this place but the last two times the Pizzas haven't been anywhere near my first experience 3 years ago. I am a big eater. Pizza was covered in meat but there was wayyyy too much for 1 person and the meat was also so bland like they were overcompensating for the bad taste? I have had the same pizza each time I have gone. The Boston.
G. H.
For me arguably one of the best pubs in Derbyshire. Always a great range of craft beers for sale. The country style decor is magnificent with the low beams and constant burning log burners in winter make for a very cosy atmosphere. The food is amazing. I wish this was my local.
K. H.
Lovely Lunch today thank you and It was great to meet up with our friends again. Good service, lovely pizza.
J. E.
Fantastic experience! The staff were very attentive and took extra time to tell us about their new app (which is super convenient) as it allows you to pay via the app and earn points through doing so!
For food that is really delicious, you can't go wrong! This will be our regular spot from now on.
Thanks guys!
P. J.
Joiners arms have changed the layout sure to covid and it now feels more like a farm shop than a restaurant. The meat pack was good. More than a family could eat in one session so some of it got frozen. There was legs of beer, eggs, flour and brioche buns. Everything you might need in these trying times.
G. R.
Great food great pub great staff
O. S. (.
This pub does the best Pizza, that i've ever had. Me and my mum shared a large size pizza and chips between the two of us, and it was delicious. I'll definitely be going back soon.
Y. D.
Great place with lots of seating space and parking. Garden area, outdoors areas, and large inside area. Lots of options for beer and pizza lovers. Great selection for vegans as well. They also have asahi on tap, that's rare
L. M.
Great meal yet again! Our only criticism would be there was a bit of a wait for the pizzas and at the bar (but you were busy) and there was a LOT of cheese on the Montpellier. .. but others may love this!
To be honest we always fine the pizzas very generously topped and think they would be just as good with a bit less.
Oh and some dried chilli flakes or sauce (the oil really isn't spicy ) and we'd be made!
C. R.
We went here as a family group for the reception of a family funeral. Whilst the reason for the day (and the weather!) was sad, the food brought lots of smiles to everyone's faces. Proper hand-cut chunky chips, sandwiches on proper bread (not pappy supermarket "Square" bread) with more filling than bread, proper Quiche with real fillings and plenty of substance. Proper tasty cold cuts that warmed the hearts of us all, and perfect cream cakes as a dessert. My uncle would have really approved!
m. b.
Possibly the best place in Derby. At the moment I would say it's my top place. Great food, atmosphere, staff and selection. For a drink or food you'll like the selection. Something different but very nice. Outside seating area is a nice setting also
M. K.
Really great pub for tasty, wholesome food, good selection of wines and beers, very popular when I've been.. Part of a small group of successful pubs in the area.. Would recommend.. Only slight down side, the young bar staff are a little bit slow and detracted by one and other company rather than serving..
T. A.
Had lovely birthday evening here, great food and great service. Thank you
J. C.
Staff were lovely. Very dog friendly with water bowl offered for our boi and 3 choices of treat at the Dog Bar. Yakitori steak skewers with stilton sauce were delicious and filling, served with grilled peppers red onion and fantastic sides: tried the halloumi, chorizo, sweet potatoes, onion rings and cajun wedges. Made our day, we'll definitely be both going back and recommending to friends.
J. M.
Great place, large menu decent portions and good quality food. Plenty of staff so service is very efficient, lovely atmosphere.
K. K.
I have enjoyed food, and Service.I would love to go again.
b.
Great food if you can get in which is a good thing!!!!! Staff should smile more it may make drinkers want to come back, I've been going here for years and of late some of the staff look really miserable. Not good for a thriving business.
S. S.
Lovely food, staff nice and love the indoor decor and lighting. Will be back. Xx
D. B. (.
Great atmosphere, great service (Charles), quite a long wait for meal and a little disappointed with the meal when it arrived, beer reasonably priced but wine seemed very expensive at £8 per glass (250ml), would recommend prospective patrons to try the Joiners Arms.
R. W.
Amazing pub. Can get very very busy. The stylish new decor really makes this place. The food is incredible and the beer and Gin selection is superb. Lots and lots of choice!
Pub quiz and games in the garden. Great for everyone

Lovely outside seating, great pizzas, great selection of beers and friendly staff. Also an ouyside playground for the kids and plenty of inside seating if that's what you prefer. Does get busy so don't get there too late!
N. L.
First time visiting here and would definitely recommend. Pizzas were super tasty and staff were really helpful. Garden area really pretty.
E. B.
Excellent service and big meals

Food good but service not so, but that was because not enough staff I believe therefore only 3 stars.
e. j.
Thoroughly blown away with every detail! We shall return and would like to give a special mention to Colin who was just a really lovely gentleman who spoilt us with his personality, attentiveness and humour. The food was exceptional too as was the ambiance and staff. Definitely a lunch that we shan't forget for all the right reasons o)
R. S.
Great food and service. This is the big stilton steak stick! And the pit burger
J. M.
The most amazing pub restaurant in Derby. Absolutely stunning garden room and the food is unreal. I can highly recommend the chocolate orange gelato! Treated like royalty. Perfect evening out 👌
K. T.
fantastic food fantastic staff loved this place ❤

Lovely restaurant and great food.

Our first visit today and it was amazing, the indoor garden eating area was just stunning! A special thanks to Steven who amazed our children and (our husbands) with the fast completion of a rubix cube!! Food was of top quality and very filling! Definitely be making a second visit! The Walkers and Fearns! Also kids loved the surprise birthday treat for pudding...
t. l.
Amazing, shall be calling in again very soon.
Z. B.
Great food, love there are three different place to eat within. Garden room is stunning. Service is good and you can bring dogs in the bar area great!
B. M.
Lovely pub and lovely staff. Unfortunately our meal was quite disappointing. The pulled pork was dry made worse by the dry toasted bread. Too little salad and too many chips.
S. H.
Beautiful surroundings, wonderful food, great staff and reasonable prices. Desserts to die for.
