Reviews of The Otter
K. S.
Excellent venue, book ahead for food, though staff are friendly and will help you out should you turn up out of the blue. Beth and the team offer a welcoming environment. New staff members Harry served me at the bar, helpful knowledgeable and friendly. The menu is traditional pub / homemade meals such as Hunter's chicken, Roast beef, fish and chips and Venison, thought I'd assume this is seasonal. As much as I'd like to try every meal the venue offers, this is my first visit. There is a nice outdoor canalside terrace and upper balcony areas for Alfresco dining, a central hath log fireplace within the main dining area creating a warm comfortable space to relax and enjoy the ambiance. The building is due for a slight refit in the coming months, moving the toilets upstairs and further renovating the kitchen space. Hoping to be back up this way again soon :-) @t2kso

Beautiful place, amazing service. Only fault is the main portions are small for the price. Dessert saves it completely however.
Staff were amazing! Fast paced table service, no faults at all!!
C. S.
Great value for money here!! Very good service from the moment we arrived and the food was very high quality for the money. I had the beef rib and couldn't fault it.
We were served by Amy, and she was very pleasant and made sure that we had everything we required. It was raining but the pub is set next to the river Soar so on a better day a table bybthe river would have been perfect.

Stopped on the way to the peaks for lunch. Really nice pub. Great services serving a great menu. Food came quickly and at a good price.

6pm Monday 7.3.22 - First time visiting here after a recommendation from my partner. We'd just been for a bit of a stomp around in Swithland Woods and fancied somewhere for a bite to eat before the drive home.
Upon pulling into the carpark, I was immediately impressed by the beautiful exterior of the building as well as its stunning location (right on the riverside).
We were welcomed warmly and the lady who sat and served us was absolutely amazing and incredibly friendly (we didn't book and still managed to get a cosy seat right by the fire!).
For drinks we both had Aspall on draught. For food, I went for the fish cakes with baby potatoes, asparagus, poached egg and hollandaise sauce whilst my partner went for the seabass with pancetta, creamy mash and green beans. Both were nothing short of incredible - presentation and taste both 10/10! 👌 we didn't think we could handle a big dessert after this but we spotted the mini dessert & hot drink option which was perfect! We both went for this deal with the chocolate brownie and coffees. For a small dessert, it filled any space that was left after dinner! The Ice cream was to die for.
I think the bill came to £51 (incredible for 2x pints, 2x main meals, 2x desserts and 2x hot drinks!). Can't wait to return again! Make sure you keep that lady who served us well looked after, she was fantastic!
U. J. A.
Olly was absolutely fantastic. We had the best deserts an extra log put on the fire. Just a wonderful stop on our mini road trip but definitely coming back!!
C. H.
Consistently good food and service for the price range. Recommended and been here for many years.
T. D.
Popped in for a pint. This pub is a lovely country pub with welcoming staff. I will probably eat there at some point in the future as the menu looked delicious and inventive. The decor is great and there's plenty of parking. Wheelchair accessible entrances and well lit
A. G.
Four of us went to celebrate a birthday. Three meals were excellent, but one was not very nice (unfortunately). Beef rib dish was very fatty and did not come with much potatoe. I was asked at the end of the meal was alright and I said it wasn't. Management agreed to remove the meal from the bill completely. Overall the service and other meals were excellent, but it was just a shame about the beef!
C. O.
Beautiful pub by the canal, staff are great and food was fantastic. You just stop by
R. H.
Everything was excellent today. The food was superb, tasty and well presented;. with a good selection on the menu. The service was unobtrusive, patient and efficient. The ambience, decor and spaciousness is ideal for any occasion. Altogether, the Otter is fabulous. Thanks.
H. P.
Lovely place! Dogs are welcome in the bar area. All the staff are very friendly and chatty. We only stopped for a drink - only giving 4* because we haven't eaten here yet!
Although, it is really busy so it looks and smells like the food is great!
S. R.
It's a lovely cosy little pub next to a canal, we were lucky enough to visit during snow and it was just so beautiful looking out the window, they also had an open fire going it was absolutely lovely. The staff were very friendly as well the only thing I would say is that it is expensive for what you get food wise but the food is good quality
R. K.
The best vegan pub food by far. Great location, spacious but lovely ambiance and the service was fantastic! Staff were very knowledgeable about vegan wines and food too. Just what you need on a cold January weekend…Will definitely be back 👍🏼
L. D.
We were supposed to go somewhere else but it was closed so decided last minute to go to the Otter, not having been there for over 10 years we weren't sure what to expect. We were not disappointed. They managed to find us a table even though they were very busy. The service was great and the food arrived really quickly. The food was amazing, everyone enjoyed it. Cannot recommend enough. We will definitely be back.
S.
Absolutely beautiful food, couldn't fault any of it. Melanie our waitress was brilliant couldn't do enough for us. Will definitely be returning!
Hope next time we attend Melanie has tried the 0% beer and J2o apple and raspberry 🤣
T. W.
Nice pub, well decorated. Open log fire. Food was fantastic and at a good price. Staff friendly and very good. Would go again. Easy to find, lots of parking.
G. H.
Amazing food. Atmosphere. Ian the owner and his staff were so accommodating while we waited for a taxi. Not a bad thing to say. Highly recommend, I'll be back here often.
V. C.
Lovely food. Service was friendly but got a bit slow after a while where we had to call staff.
m. o.
friendly staff but vegetarian food lacking flavour(s) and quantity, especially for the money!
Also no staff asked us how the food was, which was a bit lacking.
dog friendly, too.
Toilets need refurbishing due to damp/dirt/loo seats not attached. very unpleasant but sinks/toilet bowls clean, that said.
certainly not bad value but won't be visiting again.
K. c.
Usually really lovely but sadly went Sunday with family and the Sunday roast wasn't the quality we expected. The roast potatoes were frozen ones, very dry. The parsnips were so hard they were inedible. I saw several plates being collected with food left on them. A real shame
D. R.
A great place to stop just off the M1 delicious food with outside seating on the banks of the river Soar
L. M.
Always nice to visit The Otter. We live in S Yorks but have been visiting the otter when in the area for over 50 yrs. Had family get together here and visited when convenient when flying from East Midland airport. Always enjoyed food and service.
Looking a little tired now but was informed that refurbishment was due Aug/Sept.
Long may the Otter continue. Thanks.
c. b.
The food was Great the best fish and chips I've had.the service was VERY good no complaints on that score. The only thing that let it down was the toilets I found them hard to get to had to go down a lot of stairs to get to and then found them to be in need of update and a good clean they've let the hole place down.
S. T.
Food was really good, well priced (except a side portion of scallops £4, ok....but for only 2!). Nice riverside pub and friendly staff. Thought the lime and soda was massively overpriced at £2.70, and not even a slice of lime 😀. Toilets are very run down and have been for a long time, there is now a sign up apologising and explaining they are awaiting a refurbishment. Overall would definitely recommend this pub as the food and staff were great.
B. F.
A regular place to eat for me and the other half. Fantastic service by really friendly staff and the food is some of the best in Charnwood. Great to sit by the river on a warm summers evening and grab a bite to eat. Will be back soon!
J. M.
Gorgeous food and friendly service, will definitely be coming back!
O.
My friend and I popped in to try the new brunch menu being served at the weekends. It was lovely! There’s no other pub locally that does breakfast as far as I know… Bacon and sausages really nice quality, eggs cooked to order (nice runny yolk!) We will definitely recommend to friends. Served by an older lady called Sally. She was great!
c. c.
Lovely location - right by river. Food was absolutely yummy - roast beef melted in mouth and other half said gammon was lovely. Staff really helpful. Totally recommend. After lovely meal we sat outside by river with drinks. Amaxing
H. F.
Outstanding food, lovely staff and a really cosy, homely atmosphere. Very nice place
s. d.
Lovely place, staff and good food. Shame the heating was broken but nice to have a real fire going to take the chill off. Will be visiting again.
C. T.
Lovely staff, lovely service. Unfortunately my food was a little burnt (burger with extra halloumi) but everyone else's looked great. Starter was lovely! Will definitely return.
D. T.
Delicious food and an excellent location! A great selection of drinks as well. Seating indoors and on a terrace outdoors overlooking the river. The turkey and vegetables I had were outstanding.
D.
Good service. Food was really good. Everything cooked just right. Had table with lovely outlook over canal.
K. H.
Excellent customer service during a very busy time for the staff. Waitress smiled throughout. Food was lovely.
M. I.
Really nice food and friendly staff.
This was actually the first time we have managed to get in as they are usually chock full, so booking is advised
G.
Decor looking a little tied but can't fault the service or the food, super Sunday roast!
B. E.
We really enjoyed our dining experience. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and the service was great.
A. H.
Really lovely food, there was 16 of us .... lacking in a decent outdoor area next-door to the canal though.
C. M.
Great food and service, just in need of a little refresh of decor. But couldn't fault it
L. M.
Lovely family meal out for my son's birthdays. Food was good and service was excellent.
K. J.
Our evening meal was made all the better by the genuine and good natured staff, who did everything to make us feel welcomed. We will be returning …
C. J.
The food is amazing absolutely 5 star food and the customer service was ace, Melanie was lovely to talk to very helpful
P. T.
Excellent food in picturesque countryside by a serene canal. Best roast dinner in ages 👍
S. B.
Excellent food and service but the pub is beginning to look very tired and a little shabby
J. L.
Food is good but the building could do with a good lick of paint as it's looking tired and not very inviting, could be a beautiful sat next to the river .
M. A.
Good food and service. Lovely location by the river with stunning views.
G. T.
I broke down in my car today and just happened to find refuge in this car park. I went in the pub freezing cold and shivering and I was immediately met by a smile, and the most lovely lady in a flowery dress behind the bar. I think the best part about her was how welcome she made me feel. She told me to take a seat and not to worry, she made me a hot chocolate and said get warm lovely. She treated me like a human being, like family. Then I took a look around and everyone was having a lovely time, there was a lovely atmosphere, and the place was beautiful and calm. I texted my family and friends whilst I was there to come here as I had such a lovely homely experience. I’ll be back for sure and I hope the food is as good as the atmosphere and the service by this particular lady was.
N. H.
Went last week meet-up after a few year's with friend. 5 of us went, food was really good, couldn't fault it. Lovely log fire. We sat looking over the river Soar I believe it is. The waitress was unbelievably helpful,so friendly. Nothing to much trouble. Even escorted my friend to the Disabled toilet. Will definitely go again
G. P.
Very warm welcoming friendly atmosphere, especially with the open fire. Excellent service and delicious food. Only had lunch there but will be returning for an evening meal one day soon.
Nice setting beside the river and the outside dining looked as if, during the warmer months, it would be a pleasant experience. Thanks.
M. N.
Great pub on the river with river facing terrace.
J. S.
Food was lovely
The decor and carpets were disgusting.
It is so in need of decorating and the carpets need replacement
S. H.
We decided to visit this pub on our way back from Loughborough to Newcastle so we did not have a meal but took in the sunshine and drinks on the terraces overlooking the canal. I was impressed by the selection of food and drink on offer including a vegan menu with several main dishes and numerous side dishes. The only negative was the amount of spider webs and insects on the lamps on the terraces which look as though they had not been cleaned for weeks. An easy task to remedy!
j. c.
We had a lovely 2 course meal, in comfy, Christmassy surroundings. We and our dog were made to feel very welcome by kind and personable staff. The position, by the river, would be fabulous in warmer months. A lovely lunch!
A. S.
Fantastic food staff so helpful and a must if you are in the castle Donnington area.
R. R. C.
I love The Otter and missed it during Covid but l took some people who were there for the first time and they loved it. It is in a great setting, the food was good and the real fire on a freezing night was wonderful
G. F.
Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. All staff very helpful and friendly incld Ollie. Can't wait to return.
J. M.
Good service, efficient and friendly. The Lamb rack was cooked and seasoned to perfection but the potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were not home made ☹️.
S. M.
The food was amazing and the service was fab and friendly. The best night out I had in ages.
J. D.
Although a busy time of year to visit, the service was excellent, staff friendly and helpful and meal excellent value. Good choice of beers.
C. J.
Really lovely food and great service for a fab price :) just moved locally and this will definitely be one of our new favourites!
P. S.
Good food. Friendly attentive service. Nice pub venue.
V.
Really nice place, great view, outside seatinggood choice of beer, lovely staff
V. T.
Nice place. Staff couldn't do enough to accommodate.. food lovely.
J. W.
One of my favourite food pubs. Excellent meals and friendly staff. Worth the travel
G. H.
Lovely pub, nice atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful and the prices reasonable
R. B.
Stayed in for the steak supper. Welly was pretty good. Cheese board was good apart from the old grapes. Good selection of gins.
H. B.
Great location for Brunch. Carlos was super helpful and friendly. Lovely riverside views.
d. w.
Great food amazing location. Access by road or water. Friendly helpful staff
p. w.
First day of them opening, and they where excellent, and food was amazing !
A. S.
Excellent service, lovely waitress, food and drinks very good.
A. W.
Had a great experience here! My server Karl was amazing, nothing was too much trouble!!!
R. C.
With some good friends, we decided to try the inconspicuous Otter for our annual Christmas dinner. We were not disappointed as to what was hidden behind that front door. We enjoyed a well presented and delicious main course meal followed by an equally delicious calorie laden pudding with alcoholic cheer. Our humour was shared with Melanie who looked after our gastronomy and boozy needs for the evening and is well deserved a mention as she was a real star 😀
D. F.
This is a lovely place to sit and have a meal near the canal, they have done everything needed to let you have a safe meal. The staff where friendly and polite the service was quick.
Now the down side, the starters were very nice to look at and eat but the main course was very poor, both my wife and my self had a steak the wife's was cooked rare/medium when medium/well was asked for and the rib eye was meant to be a rare but was that skinny that it was closer to well done not worth the nearly £70 bill.
The only reason I gave a 4 star rating was down to the staff and the starter and amazing onion rings.
Overall I would say go there for a drink but think twice about the food.
S. F.
Not been here for many years. The food coming out looked good and it seemed a popular place. Unfortunately, it looks like the decor hasn't changed for many years, carpets were well worn and the toilets were pretty disgusting. Definitely in need of a refurb.
M. J.
Lovely meal, with family to start the New year.
Food was delious, waitress was friendly, service was very good.
A. K.
Friendly service, decent pub grub. I had roast beef with all the trimmings which was ok but not great - rock hard Yorkshire pudding, veg very overcooked & flavourless, gravy was tasty & the beef was nice. My husband had the house burger which he said was really tasty, our 10 year old enjoyed his kids menu of pizza, chips & veg sticks with chocolate ice cream for dessert. The pub is in a lovely setting by the river & gets very busy with very little parking. It was a pleasant way to spend an hour on a Sunday afternoon
s. g.
Server was very polite and helpful was given well deserved tip!
l.
Amazing place, great food, Karlos served us and was fantastic! What a fabulous guy!!!
D. E.
Such a great find, great service, have the flower pot pudding, you won't be disappointed.
h. d.
Staff very pleasant but place a bit run down especially the outside needs a bit of TLC
P. D.
Food delivered quickly, excellent service from Melanie
i.
Stopped by for a quick lunch. Very nice steak and ale pie with mash and veg. Highly recommend...
K. K.
Great little pub...the staff are excellent, always looked after here and the food is spot on.
m. t.
Great place to go staff were very friendly food was lovely will go there again
I. P.
Lovely staff. Nice place. Good food
N. C.
Loved the lasagna and the staff are very friendly. Will be back after the refurb!
R. B.
Nice pub inside. Vintage Inns always have a good selection of pub favourites with a bit of quality in presentation, compared to other chain pubs. The Otter sits on the River Soar in a lovely location for outside drinks or, it has a large enough dining area inside to a good standard of decor. The only thing I noted was the outside was looking a bit shabby, although inside was clean and well presented. Staff were friendly and helpful. Prices are about average for pub food. Plenty of parking and disabled access easy enough. I would visit again.
S. H.
Great place and location, staff really nice and attentive. Food was fantastic. Does get busy but we arrived around 6:30 and had a good choice of places to seat. Would definetly go again. Would also recommend that you book to avoid any disappointment.
E. G.
The Otter is a quality pub that is extremely warm and welcoming as soon as you step foot in the door. The service is always absolutely incredible, the staff are attentive and food and drinks are served to the table with speed. The food is always absolutely outstanding. You can tell the chefs really care about each and every dish. It was lovely to come for our first visit after the lockdown to be served by the wonderful Ollie.
j. B.
So nice to come back to the Otter after a gap of two years. We always took our student twins there for Sunday lunch whenever we came to visit them. Was just as good this time round.
P. K.
Lovely food and so nice to sit outside by the river
E. J.
Lovely food nice staff particularly Cat who served us who was absolutely delightful and very helpful. Thank you 😊
T. T.
Excellent food and service from the staff. Beautiful views while eating our meal.
K. B.
Vintage Inns gastro pub menu, nice layout of tables, and attentive staff.
Always good and you can sign up for special offers.
Nice little outside canalside dining area too.
M. G.
Food ok. Area near stairs ( en-route to toilets) had not been cleaned for some time when I visited.
M. H.
Great pub , great location
Lovely food at a good price
B. V.
Great pub grub, nice views of the river and excellent service. What more can you wish for at a family pub lunch!
j. C.
Outstanding ambience, log fires, brilliant food choice. Excellent quality of foods. Worth 5 stars on all courses. Well done guys 👍👍👍
W.
Lovely place for a Sunday Lunch , probably best to get in early to avoid missing out on your choice of roast (as only beef left at around 4). Friendly staff and plenty of parking in a nice setting. Will be returning soon! Thanks
C.
Called in on a Monday lunch and the food was very good. Had the lasagne and the husband had the pork belly. Service was top class, quick and polite
M. C.
Great meal and a great location. Book early to avoid disappointment.
D. G.
Lovely setting.. excellent food.. Great staff.. and all at a reasonable price !! Will be back.
C. W.
Good service and the menu offered good choice. We had main and dessert which was good. Not the best access for disabled customers. Side door on slope was locked. Slope was uneven stone.
A. C.
Great food albeit abit pricey. However being on the banks of the river you get some nice views with your meal. Friendly staff and a covid safe pub make it a must visit if you are passing through. Great pitstop for bikers.
A. W.
Busy place. It would appear mainly set for tables of 4. Double it and you are by the front door which reduces the atmosphere.
Food was good but nothing more to mention there.
V.
Very nice food, service was quick and friendly, nice setting and atmosphere. Menu was on the expensive side but the quality of the food and the portion's made up for that! Would recommend.
P. a. E. A.
Fantastic Waitress (Melanie)
Great food
And beautiful location
K. D.
Fantastic food at great prices. The pub is in a beautiful location which adds to the experience.
B. D. M.
Nice place but limited places and gets booked early.
Worst point is recently they said the credit card machines weren't working and said they would only accept cash.
By the time we went and withdrew cash and cane back, they said that all table swere booked and this was about 8pm.
J. M.
Had heard bad reports but was pleasantly surprised...good food and service...
L. H.
Lovely pub, great drinks selection, excellent friendly staff
H. S.
Despite the flooding, staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful - very much business as usual! Haven't visited for a while as I have moved away from the area but really pleased to be back!
D. B.
What a lovely find. We stopped to have a bite to eat, outside by the River Soar. This place was delightful. Very quaint inside but we sat outside. Lots of delicious things on the menu, and we were not disappointed when our food arrived. Two gentlemen took our order & waited on us. Both very pleasant. Social distancing was in place & we felt at ease. Thank you for a lovely experience in your establishment
E. B.
Food was good. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Sat outside overlooking the river as it was sunny. Only negative was all the baskets and flower pots had been left to dry out and wither/die. Was lovely watching the boats along the river. Thank you 😊
P. Y.
This was a very good pub and friendly service and dogs welcome to thank you all
P. F. (.
Wrong menu sent by email, limited menu on offer which was different to the one online. Sirloin steaks all gone by 19:00 and our choice of dessert had all gone as well. Staff were good but unavailability of items so early in the evening was telling.
M. B.
Lovely place 😊and really beautiful food 🥩🍕🥗🍺🍹🍷
L. C.
Tasty, well cooked food, which was nicely presented. Attentive staff too and felt very safe. It's been a bit hit and miss over the years, but if today is anything to go by, it may well be on an even keel
R. M.
Great service, tasty food.
C. R.
Great food. Can tell the chef/manager has put some thought in to it. Was in on a Monday night and surprisingly plenty of people in.
L. E.
Booked a table at 1240 for a table at 1300, arrived and table was ready for us. Place was as busy as I guess somewhere can be at the moment, just one person serving and taking orders but he was very good at keeping all the tables looked after. Ordered food within five minutes, and it arrived ten minutes later. Had lunchtime menu, ordered fish fingers sandwich and the vegetarian wrap. Both lovely, very tasty. Will be going back for a stab at the evening menu soon.
Also worth noting, £20 for drinks and two lunches. Very reasonable, and a damned sight better than the Kings Arms which is rubbish.
M. F.
Post Loughborough Uni Graduation ceremony chill out with the kids, I say kids, they are now graduates with Masters degrees! Wanted a place by the river to unwind and The Otter was great. Very friendly, clean, characterful with river balcony and beer garden next to the Trent. Good choice of drinks and food on offer and parking on the front.
C. W.
We always stop for lunch here if we happen to be passing through. I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal here. They open before 12pm so we had a coffee before we could order. Lovely setting and we had the added bonus of watching the fishermen at the riverside. As usual the food was up to it's normal excellent standard. As were the staff...lovely and friendly. Would recommend. Only drawback are the toilets...nice and clean but down a lot of steps
N. M.
Beautiful place found by chance (M1 traffic) but definitely worth another visit!
J. R.
Nice menu. Very tasty food, well cooked and sensible portions
O. M.
Ollie was a really good server and was extremely helpful with all requests. Food was lovely and we will be sure to return!
B. C.
Lovely presented meal, top quality duck and steak. We had friendly service but disappointed with quality of red wines, replaced the merlot we chose but malbec was also rather thin and watery.
C. N.
Karlos was the best, amazing service and amazing food, what an incredible place
R. D.
Staff and food as lovely as ever.
C. B.
We've been twice since The Otter reopened indoors. Two nice meals, well cooked and tasty. Great staff. We felt very Covid safe, too.
J. T.
Had a nice lunch here with a small group. We all went for the fixed price lunch menu, £11.95 for two courses. All the food was nicely presented and arrived promptly and hot.
Overall the restaurant felt nice and welcoming, lovely real fire. We had a table overlooking the river. Staff were friendly and helpful.
We would definitely return, so happy to recommend it.
R. E.
Lovely situated pub on river bank helpful enthusiastic staff quite good food if a little generic but why oh why do they lie about triple cooked chips these came out of a bag and into the oven!
S. S.
Fantastic, excellent service and excellent food.
l. p.
Stephanie and Karl’s were amazing, very friendly!
J. M.
Have passed here many times but never stopped. Met colleagues for lunch. Great food and beer. Friendly staff and good service.
m. d.
Lovely waitress called Bethany - well recommended
N. R.
Lovely meal ,very nice interior, friendly staff .
A. R.
Fab pub in a beautiful location. Food and drinks fabulous. Really nice setting. Good service
T. G.
Top keg location, food is always outstanding, great menu variation and very nice stuff always.
J. H.
Ideally situated Inn, by the river. Well balanced very restricted COVID menu, but don't expect all items will be available. Sadly family dining rules...best not to expect a comfortable or relaxed experience.
B. F.
Went there tonight lovely food friendly staff and a nice chilled atmosphere would definitely go again 👍👍👍
k. k.
Not a very good vegetarian option, just one choice on Sunday lunch menu. Very expensive for mediocre food. The beef dinner I had not presented very well, veg and potatoes on the plate, meat laid on top and the Yorkshire balanced on top of the meat.
Would have looked more appetising had it have been laid out separately instead of piled on top of each other. Beer was not the best kept Doombar either.
The place had been closed for weeks, it looked rundown from outside.
On the good side manager and staff were very pleasant, but no Track and Trace unless that was done through the reservations
A. B.
Great roast dinner with a roaring fire on a chilly Sunday evening. Ollie looked after us really well.
S. C.
Nobody gets a five star rating unless it is absolutely outstanding hence the four stars. The pub is welcoming and set in a picturesque position overlooking to the river Soar. The staff are pleasant and efficient and the food comes in a reasonable time with plenty provided and to an excellent quality. The place is very relaxed with a comfortable atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
G. W.
Great location, excellent menu choice inc a separate Vegan/Veggie menu.
A. L.
Lovely food and lovely atmosphere
M. A.
Had a family meal here on a Saturday evening. Staff were polite friendly and efficient. Good atmosphere generally in the restaurant. Food was good and better than I had experienced here previously. Particularly enjoyed the beef rib. Pity they only have the dismal Doombar on tap.
D. H.
Sunday lunch was delicious. Plum crumble was so tasty. The service was excellent. Sadly all of this may not have been experienced if we hadn’t booked. It had no “kerb appeal” driving up to the restaurant it’s incredibly shabby and in desperate need of refurbishing inside and out. But the team there are excellent and the food was delicious. It’s just the property needs big money throwing at it!

Served by Karlos, great customer service and great food
R. N.
Love this place. Excellent speedy and very pleasant staff. Food choice and service were good. Our group consisted of 6 people and all enjoyed our dinner. We returned the following evening with an extra two in the group. Another excellent meal was had by all. Can definitely recommend THE OTTER without any reservation whatsoever.
H. L.
I have visited this pub several times, it has a pleasant restaurant with a nice atmosphere and plenty of outside seating giving a lovely view of the river, the children love watching the boats go up and down. I have always found the staff to be efficient and friendly. I cannot say I have ever had a bad meal which you do occasionally get even with favourite restaurants. The menu is varied with plenty to suit all tastes, and the quality of the food is very good. Considering it is a busy restaurant I have never had to wait too long for service and food. Prices are what you would expect to pay.
I would recommend this establishment for a very pleasant few hrs out as a couple, with friends and children. Oh and it is also dog friendly - bonus:)
W. J.
Nice country pub. Went for a large family meal, ate off the festive menu. Food was of excellent quality and very reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly. Only downside was due to the layout of some of the tables the disabled toilet wasn't the easiest to access.
D. O.
Real nice food and staff
C. H.
We had a fantastic meal at The Otter on Monday evening. The calamari was beautiful, the mushrooms in cheese sauce really tasty. The beef bourginon was fantastic, the meat just melted in the mouth. The service was excellent, a special mention to Ollie, who is a fantastic host. Well done, will be returning.
B.
Stopped with my daughter for a bit of dinner after a uni interview. Staff were very friendly, food was great. Looked like a nice spot but it was too dark see the river and views properly. The gents perhaps needed updating.
S. C.
Great place ,food 10/10 ,polite staff . Well worth a visit.
D. M.
staff and meals 10 / 10 the pub it self is a bit tired
D. C. (. C.
Lovely atmosphere well spaced tables in the restaurant good menu
A. G.
Lovely traditional British pub. Great to sit outside next to the river, if the weather's nice. With a chill in the air and a light drizzle it was lovely to have the warmth and lighting of the open fire.
Its easy to get to and in a convenient location just outside Kegworth, it also has sufficient parking.
The food was fantastic and they coped extremely well with my dietary requirements. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the service was timely, polite and accurate.
D. S.
Really nice meal, the staff were very friendly and helpful. It wasn't massively expensive all round good experience
L.
Good family friendly pub. The menu (adult) has plenty of choice, with daily specials. Childrens menu has enough to choose from and you build the meal with 3 choices, main, veg and extras like garlic bread, chips.
Staff did a good job. We arrived around 5pm on a Saturday and got a table easily. As we left about 6.15pm it was getting quite busy.
E. B.
Lovely place, by the river, very quaint! The otter theme is cute! Great menu, attentive staff, a great experience
S. A.
Lovely setting good food
J. P.
A really cosy and welcoming establishment. Great food and excellent, friendly service. Highly recommended!
A. P.
As a party of 6 we all enjoyed our food and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Would recommend.
S. T.
A group of friends have been meeting here once a month for five years. We have never had a meal that was not excellent and the service is always fantastic. We feel more like friends than clients! Well done to the whole Team.
A. S.
A little disappointed really. Food was OK, nothing special. I would say average pub food. The place itself is OK, it needs to be refreshed soon as its getting a bit tired. The wait was an overkill, we had three courses and it took us over two hours, we were with kids so they were getting really bored. The waitress was very nice but it was clear the pub was understaffed especially as it was Father's Day. Overall, average I'm afraid although I would have wanted for it to be nice.
R. D.
Excellent Sunday roast and a cracking pint of Doom Bar on the hand pump 😎
H. C.
Friendly staff and good service! I had hunters chicken and it was lovely. Really nice venue too, some lovely views at the back!
N. M.
Nice to return, food was still excellent. Staff friendly and personal. Nice variety on the menu.
C. S.
Lovely setting next to the river Soar, ideal for a pot of tea and a pint for him outside on the river bank sat at nice glass topped furniture.
Inside is a beautiful natural oak beamed dinning room and bar.
This is a great place for Sunday lunch but you'll have to book because this pub is so attractive to customers.
Good staff very helpful.
It's a bit pricey hence the 4 not 5
E. H.
We had Christmas day meal for the third year running. Lovely food and great service, the starter was a little on the small side but that's my only complaint. We will be returning in 2020 and not only for Christmas, well done to all the staff and hope they all eventually had a great time themselves.
S. F.
Meals were good and coronavirus safety measures were in place. However there was not a vegetarian option on the mains menu. A salad or a pizza alternative is sadly not enough of a choice. Just one dish would do?
W. W.
Food was lovely, atmosphere good, staff attentive and helpful. Toilets were clean but below stairs needed attention:
The paintwork, carpets and toilet doors were very old and worn but as this was my only criticism, I would recommend the Otter. It's always busy and popular. Book ahead.
A. C.
Called in for a quick drink on way home one Sunday lunch time . Because we were not eating there was very limited seating. The gentleman behind the bar was not very friendly and seemed disinterested in serving. We sat near to the bar and everytime the door opened for the kitchen where the food was coming out there was a cold blast of air , I can only think this was because the rear door In to the kitchen was open . This made for an unpleasant experience. I would certainly think twice about visiting again
B. W.
Amazing food - Log fires, perfect
J. B.
Excellent for price, this place beats out many more expensive places. I normally never rate things but I was blown away by their hunters chicken. All food fresh and hot. Service good
A. H.
What a cracking pub on the banks of the river soar, food was brilliant the member of staff who served us was impeccable her manners and helpfulness went above and beyond anything I have received from other eateries. I will recommend the Otter too all my friends.
100%top service
S. G.
A lovely pub in lovely location, the staff were all really friendly and the food was really nice. Also they a good selection of beers 🍻
R.
Absolute fantastic! One of... If not the best place to go for an amazing meal in kegworth! The lamb duo was a 10 out of 10! And my partner's lasagne was the best she has ever had. It was very busy but no issues with quality and personal service that did not feel rushed! 100% will return as any times as possible ...
D. K.
Had a lovely farewell midweek lunch with colleagues. Great fish and chips, verv well cooked and i was upgraded to a large! Friendly staff and drinks well served with plenty of ice.
G. M.
Great pub/ restaurant in a beautiful location. The food was good quality. The reason I'm putting four stars is the man serving us at the bar was grumpy and did not want to know, the rest of the staff however, were lovely.
M. J.
A very nice, cosy, and well run gastro type pub.
Very nice fresh hot food. Very polite staff, and good service.
Why not give stars? Being picky, the car park isn't marked out very well and be VERY careful pulling out in the car into the road after feasting from the menu. The road is poorly lit and quite fast. Luckily I have the Quattro to get me away quickly!
N. W.
Lovely food as usual.
S. L.
Lovely food, not too busy and very friendly service. A nice afternoon spent with family.
J. G.
Outstanding food, outstanding service with a smile, shall definitely return.
T. G.
Good location for off the motorway lunch but sadly you can't walk along the canal from here. Building a bit run down but vegan food pretty good. Great burger and side salad. Chips small portion and instant kind ...not great. Apple pie v good but panacotta just strange. 4 stars as staff v freindly and dogs welcome.
A. M.
Very Busy when we arrived even it was a thursday lunchtime, ordered 2 chicken sandwiches took 25mins to arrive but as noted was busy , food ok traditional pub food. We had 2 coffees after asked for 2 flat whites and these were pretty dire just warm milk the girl making them didnt seem to confident on the machine. I have been to the otter previously and its always been a pretty good meal and drink not so sure i will attempt a coffee again !
C. B.
Good food and friendly staff, great location by the river too. It's usually busy, especially Sunday lunch time, but in the week we don't usually need to book. It's not far from East Midlands parkway rail station, and the airport, which is handy too.
But it is looking rather tired now, because it is so busy: the place could do with a refresh or a refurb, particularly the toilets and staircase leading down to that area.
t. t.
Cosy restaurant, food was lovely. Had a great time with friends.
A. E.
Great friendly service, good food will come more regularly when we move to kegworth in Nov
N. S.
Great food and location, staff very friendly, building looking a bit tired though !
D. C.
Food was nice with a window seat as the water was a bit wet the service was a bit slow but i suspected as most places they struggled with staff at the moment. but I will go back 👍
G. S.
Food good as always. However the place needs a really good clean. Cobwebs over & around pictures, light shades, mirrors, corners. Food/ sauce/gravy down walls. For a large chain pub this is no acceptable. It makes me wonder about the kitchen!!
P. B.
Good quality food good service. Beer good and looked after. Atentive staff. Only niggle would be the portion size. But i am a big eater. Well worth a visit if staying for flights from EMA next day
K. C.
Great food, great service and no feeling of being rushed. Seating both inside and outside, we chose outside and watched the boats drift by. Wish we could have stayed longer. Well worth a visit. 😁
D. D.
Lovely.. .. Great food, pleasant staff, nice setting.. Thoroughly recommend this place.. We just popped in on a lunch time and was very happy to have done so.
H.
I may have had higher expectations than I should about the Otter. The staff are friendly and attentive however I believe this place thinks it is better than what it is. The food is expensive and the quality / quantity doesn't match the price tag, which is my main reason for saying it is ok. I also felt it wasn't as clean as it should be with dirty tables, marks on walls and food on the floor, I'm guessing that if the staff levels were higher this would be improved. May be we choose the wrong day to visit, Saturday afternoon.
S. B.
Covid set up good food was excellent server was very helpful and couldn't have done more the downside was the toilet could not believe how dirty they were marks all over floor and walls sinks were clean but the rest looked like they had not been touched for a long time everywhere else we went in our week of walking had extremely clean toilets so was quite amazed that they definatey not had a deep clean prior to reopening
I. J. M. T.
An excellent lunch and very good value too. Staff friendly and welcoming and the 2 open fires were a bonus. We will use as our mid country meeting point in future!
K. B.
Lovely staff, very accommodating when we arrived without a reservation. Lovely food, great wine, lots of gin selections. My new favourite local!!
D. L.
Really nice place. Went for a family meal, 13 of us and the service was ace. Got our food quickly, drinks came speedily and overall loved the vibe of the place. Would recommend to couples/families
E. F.
One word, Excellent.
Food good, great choices of starters, mains and sweets. Service was superb. We had a lovely night
10 out of 10.
A. L.
Blustery cold day, wind and rain, and come across The otter, a few miles from the airport and M1 to walk into a welcoming interior, real fires and those old style radiators pumping out loads of heat, that you can just sit back, relax and absorb the moment to with some excellent chef cooked food and a great selection of drinks. I was driving so nice to see a choice of alcohol free beers and cider too. Somewhere I think I'll make a detour to if stuck in that Friday late afternoon traffic on the way home in the future.
P. H.
Just up the road from us and first time we have been was last week. Will definitely go again but they need to offer fried egg AND pinapple with there gammon! Not just fried egg.👍
R. H.
Awesome food and staff! Highly recommend!
T. B.
Usual Vintage Inn decor and food. First visit to this one but would return. Starter missing one key element. Seared scallops and black pudding without the bp (sack the chef) but manager was very apologetic and reduced the bill by an appropriate sum.
J. R.
Not quite our local, but only a mile up the A6. The Otter is a friendly, cosy Riverside bar and easy dining restaurant. The food is always tasty, piping hot and well presented. They have a good, wide range of wines and beers. The staff are always friendly and professional. This is normally a summer pub for us, sitting outside on the terrace by the bank of the river Soar on lazy summer days but today we chose it as a cosy warm place to have a drink and lite lunch bite inside. We weren't disappointed. The food was, as usual, very tasty. The atmosphere in the Otter is always relaxing, even if it very busy, with lots of cubby holes to enjoy your food or drink. Thoroughly recommended.
M. K.
Had to return the steak as medium-rare was requested and something well past well-done was served.
A.
Great food on a wet bank holiday week end. very busy pub and still the food arrived very quickly and very pleasant staff. Really good vibe and tables and chairs to sit outside along the canal.
M. B.
Nice place. Food was good. Service was on time and staff were friendly. Good menu and beer and wine choices were all good . Slightly to highly priced for pub grub to be honest.
K. H.
We specifically wanted a table with a riverside view and was swiftly accommodated. Service was A*, really prompt and We ate from the vegan menu. The food was delicious!! Would definitely recommend this bar and restaurant!
A. H.
Pure beaut 😋.....struggled to walk to the car after 3 courses.
Our server Sally was a delight also
S. W.
Friendly, canal side pub. Serves good food. Only deducted a star due to the limited choice of real ales (doom bar or doom bar) 😄
C. E.
Service was very slow booked a round table for 6 people at 1500hrs eventually got square table at 1530hrs. Waited another 20 minutes for order to be taken. When food arrived just put on table and waitress walked away then spent another 5 minutes attracting attention to ask for sauces.
M. G.
Fantastic food will be back
W. R. H.
Visited the Otter on the way back from a weekend away. We found the team helpful and courteous and was seated at a table immediately. We had the roast beef and turkey, neither meal was piping hot but both were edible, we commented about this to the waitress who apologised and said she would take the feedback to the kitchen. Dessert ! , I ordered the crumble of the day, excellent, piping hot but somewhat short on the custard measure, a very small ornate gravy jug filled 2/3rds full, not enough to go with the amount of crumble served. I asked for more more, yes more custard, the waitress obliged and brought out another small jug. Now to the bill, all ok, but I noticed the additional 50p charge for extra custard, really?
P. W.
OK so our 1st experience was a poor one, but things have changed in 18 months. The ceiling cobwebs have gone!. Food is great staff brilliant and pleasure to serve. Been back 3 times now in last 2 months and will keep going.
R. T. N.
Lovely setting, great food. Sat on the decking out the back right next to the river.
D. M.
Great able service. Good food on the whole. Had an issue with starters but got free round of drinks to compensate. Good customer service.
T. S.
Advertised open till 11pm and serve food till 10pm 8 o'clock kitchen closed because its quiet I get that but change your times on website
P. T.
Amazing food. The staff were so helpful. Nothing too much for them. Definitely recommend!
J. M.
Lovely Sunday Lunch at this busy pub restaurant, in a lovely location sitting next to the canal.
Good portions and quality food, served by friendly staff. 👍
D. M.
Excellent slow cooked belly pork and veg, busy when we arrived, had not booked, yet we were found a table and service was faultless. Did not have long to wait for our dinner to be served. Yum yum.
G. W.
Good food, hot , exvellent menu promptly served and pleasant dining room but toilets and stairs down to them were in need of urgent revamp and good clean. Hope kitchens were in better condition.
S. P.
Booked for a family Christmas lunch. Staff helpful & Friendly. Food really good. This is my 3rd visit. Anytime I'm on the M1 I will divert to this place. Lovely location right by the canal.
K. R.
Friendly and helpful staff.. food good, disappointed not offered the set price menu that applied from 5.30 when arrived after this time... only aware after ordered our food!! Good venue on the river with outdoor seating.
G. P.
Popped in for tea, got a warm welcome and a table overlooking the river. I've used vintage inns before and it pays to check their website for offers as I got a free glass of red with my main. I chose the sea bass and chorizo special and it was cooked perfectly. Would definitely use again.
N. A.
Food is good, not many vegan options, they were sold out of their veggie burger by 2 on a Saturday! Not entirely consistent portion sizes, but the food you get is delicious.
J. N.
Lovely pub with beautiful riverside view. Hadn't been for 3 years or so and food not quite as good as I remembered although desserts were excellent.
d. t.
Great sea food, enjoyed the company ...we sang happy bday like 10 times...
S. B.
Nice food on the higher price for what you get great staff
D. G.
My first 2 menu choices were sold out, and we waited 45 mins for our meals. The food was ok, nothing to shout about.
Have eaten here a couple of times before, after this visit though i wont rush back
D. P.
Pleasant family restaurant, catering for us omnivores & herbivores alike. Chatty helpful staff. Reasonable sized portions & well presented plates.
E. P.
Really nice food the Flowerpot dessert was amazing definitely recommend to family and friends
S. n.
Ordered the Veggie kappa peppers and goats cheese starter, it didn't arrive with the rest of my groups food, turned out that they had cooked the wrong starter which was meat and never told us. I had to ask after 5-10mins of waiting and finally received my food 15 mins later. When we ordered the food they didn't have the salad main in so had to pick something less healthy. Ordered a bottle of wine in which they were unable to supply.
Overall all the food tasted good execpt the service was poor, they provided no appologies or updates about the food, and did not even make any sort of gesture which considering their prices I thought was a poor effort.
Will not be returning.
M. F.
Great atmosphere and decor. Friendly and helpful staff. Good food and reasonable prices. Will be going back in the summer hopefully to sit outside by the river. Watch out for the fast traffic when leaving.
C. F.
We had a very pleasant evening with brilliant food and the friendly staff had everything organised for safety
J. A. A. S. R.
First time visiting yesterday and not disappointed. Good selection to choose from, prompt friendly service, barman was very switched on getting a drink organised for my better half after hearing her say what she wanted before I had even ordered it. Wonderful surrounds and worth the journey to there. A must return visit will be coming from us.
L. C.
Really like this place. Excellent location, good food, friendly staff
J. R.
Right on the water, beautiful on sunny day, good food and nice people.
g.
Very friendly place serving consistently good food. Well kept cask ales and an extensive wine list. Always made very welcome here, great team in place.
O. J.
Delicious 😋 Friendly service and lovely atmosphere. Love Vintage Inn pubs 👌
A. M.
Food is ok, usual pub grub, venue is owned by a chain but it's a great venue on the canal with outdoor seating. Car park is a little tight however and there aren't that many spaces.
M. P.
Booked for xmas dinner but unfortunately one of the family was in hospital and couldn't make it. The manager was very understanding and refunded the missed meal in vouchers. Cant wait to use them and have another great meal.
I. H.
Enjoyed the food, , good service, lovely views over looking the River.
N. L.
Food nice overall . Ordered a specialty gin and ginger ale but told not got that as not asked before although it's advertised .chips bit well done also asked for a nice seat as a birthday and was sat but the walkway to the toilet .they need more attention to detail here service bit slow !! Overall a nice atmosphere could do better .
z. c.
Lovely meal. Really enjoyed it especially after our 10k obstical course for cancer. Elliott our waiter was so attentive and funny! Thank you guys for as well deserved meal 😁
P. Y.
Love the Otter. Food always top notch. Service great. Very dog friendly.
R. M.
Lovely food. Helpful and polite staff. Would have said a great view but it was pouring rain. X
r. h.
A very nice pub with good food and a good choice of beverages for all. Be sure to book if you are eating as it does get very busy and waiting times can be a fair wait but it is worth it for good food 👍
S. K.
Very relaxed atmosphere ,lovely polite attentive staff. The venison steak was rather tough though and slightly overpriced at £17.50.Toilets could do with an upgrade.
m. s.
Lovely riverside relaxing place for a meal with pleasant service, good food and reasonable prices. Shame they don'tt still row guests across the river for a penny a head (as in 1900) but the view is still gorgeous, of fields, hedges and woodlands
O. M.
Quality pub in a great spot for sunny days.
Staff are really helpful and friendly, really quick service.
Looking forward to eating here soon.
J. J.
Fabulous food and friendly staff! Can do with brightening up as starting to look a little tired.
A. M.
Came here for a Sunday roast, loved the views of the canal.Food was pretty good and no-one in our group had any major gripes. Chicken was done just right but then again evryone has different tastes!
s. p.
This is a brilliant gastro pub in a fantastic location. The proof is in the pudding!
C. p.
Absolutely loved watching the aeroplanes fly over. The service and food was amazing the staff were very polite.
d. j.
Lively atmosphere, staff, service and food. A pleasant experience.
C. B.
Had a lovely birthday dinner, service was good and food was lovely
Thank you.
M. W.
Reasonable food, prices a bit high, but I hated the sticky tables.
M. M.
Lovely food I have been a few times and always great value for money too.
A. W.
Excellent service, extremely friendly staff, dog friendly, fabulous food. Beautiful setting, Alfresco Dinning only negative is that the toilets ready for an upgrade.
P. B.
Really good. Great food. Lovely waitress (Holly).
AA membership gets 20% off the bill which is also good to use at Ember Inns.
K. P.
Food was average, felt rushed to leave and toilets are really tired. Rotten sinks, broken tiles and needs a lick of paint. Shame as the location is nice. Needs some TLC.
P. H.
Just popped in for a crafty one, staff great and it's just a spacious pub on the canal. There is no footpath on the side where the pub is, but just a mile or so up the road there is access to the toe paths which made a nice walk.
F. V. a. F. P. U.
Had a great vegan salad. Just missing some vegan friendly milks for coffee. The waitress didn't know what a plant based milk was.
s. s.
Only issue I had was insect flying around, eventually landing in my drink and drowning..other than that it's a nice place.
J. R.
Lovely place, great setting and super staff and food!
M.
First meal out in 7 months. And we did it in style! Brilliant service! 👍😊
J. S.
Reliable chain of mid priced dining pubs. This one of the best in chain.. nice canalside location. Extensive menu, all day food, friendly service, good beer.
D. S.
Nice outdoor seating next to the river, friendly service, good food, recommended
V. L.
Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely food. Service can sometimes be a little slow but they are always so busy!
S. W.
Great place to eat and drink
W. W.
OK Sunday roast but replaced roast potatoes with chips without apologising. Wouldn't leave condiments on table outside on decking in case someone took them! Tables outside on decking get a lot of traffic noise, tables down by canal much quieter. OK value but not overwhelmed.
R. T.
Really lovely food, served by friendly staff. Can get very busy at the weekend. Prices are about average for pub grub.
E. C.
Really good food. Was busy so the staff were a bit slow. Really cozy and comfy.
d. h.
Lovely food as always. Lovely staff.. Even sorted out the parasol outside so we got some shade thanks
C. C.
Trip out to Kegworth for Sunday Roast. Excellent roast sirloin with all the trimmings.
Service a bit naff. Five chatting at the bar, 2 kitchen staff smoking out the back.
N. O.
The food was very average but the staff where lovely so it sort of made up for it
I. W.
Top food and service hear I'd definitely recommend it to anyone
k. m.
The menu was limited. The food was average and a bit expensive for the amount you got. Don't think I will visit again as there are better eateries not too far away
J. H.
Not for a trucker. A bit to fancy for me. Came in here a few years ago when it was just a bar. I had a meal while i was there. Meat pie and mash and veg around a tenner expensive for a Lorry driver. Ok if you want to take a bird. Not for a bloke's
P. G.
Lovely pub food very good could dine out if you wanted to, lots of paint peeling of the exterior spoils the look
J. E.
Nice pub in idyllic location, food was good and menu had plenty of options at a reasonable price. Beer selection ok but lacking many ales.
S. R.
Had our Christmas meal here. Very nice experience. Lovely staff, good drink and excellent food.
A. D.
Wonderful.staff and great food. The food is spot on delicious
g. j.

c. f.
Fantastic food, friendly staff and stunning views.
J. O.
Lovely service and great atmosphere. Good selection of beers and lots of effort into the food.
J. S.
Lovely food wounder staff. Melanie served us. Couldn't do enough for us, she made our night. Will go again. Xx
D. W.
Lovely gastro type pub. Fine food in the £12-15 / main course range. Good wines and beer and near to the canal so pleasant if you get a window seat.
Popular pub part way between Loughborough and Kegworth. Some of the locals walk back to Kegworth after visiting here, bit far for me though.
Parking can be a bit difficult when busy and have to squeeze to get in.
M. F.
Great food, lovely staff, pleasant location, good experience
D. H.
A great pub located by the canal just outside Kegworth, great staff, good seating, quiet areas, nice atmosphere and food, does get busy so worth thinking about booking in advance.
B. D.
Never had a bad meal yet in all the years we've been going. The real ale is always nice too.
G. G.
Was a while since I was here but a really pleasant pub. Had great food and pleasant to sit by the water's edge before the long drive home.
N. W.
Part of the Vintage Inn chain - so it's a bit formulaic, but comfy, cozy and pretty good. Outside terrace a little scruffy, but nice to look over the canalised River Soar. Easily accessible by canal boat too. Free Wi-Fi. Real Ale.
J.
So good
K. C.
Good food at reasonable prices with decent portion sizes
P. C.
Great food as always and top notch service. Felt very comfortable in these Covid times....
D. R.
Lovely food with attentive and pleasant staff. One of our favourites.

Great meal for 3 on spec. Service fine and food really good! Excellent - ready for a lie down now... Zzzzz
J. A.
I dined with friends and it was a perfect evening. I had the Roasted kapia pepper and goats’ cheese along with the Chicken and portobello mushroom pizza as a main. Everything was delicious!
A. W.
Riverside pub and restaurant. branded
C. B.
A very good meal and excellent service. Would suggest that all woodwork is given a good clean or is painted. We will return when next in the area.
W. P.
Service and food was excellent
J. W.
Had lunch today at the otter food very very good as usual but table service not good at all main course arrived while starter plates still on table had to ask for dessert menu after waiting approx 30 minutes then had to ask another staff member to order dessert very disappointed because things in the past have always been good
M. B.
Lovely place for a family meal. Good selection of different dishes and a nice, friendly atmosphere
P. W.
Very good food, nice place by the water fantastic views especially in weather like today
J. G.
Lovely meal and very friendly atmosphere
M. W.
One of the best pubs in the area. Nice atmosphere (good lighting), nice staff, good range of beers, and good food
R. H.
Nice place had a lovely meal though gets busy at times would definitely recommend it also nice in the summer as views of the river
J. R.
Wonderful food and good atmosphere. Reasonably priced for what you get.
A. B.
Lovely friendly pub. Had a lovely meal with the children. Waitress was great with the children, the food was good and arrived extremely quickly.
B. W.
Very pleasant staff nothing was any trouble meal was excellent we will be going back
S. G.
Food good, service good. Ladies toilets needed replenishing with soap and paper. Pretty cool and draughty in the restaurant with the fire doors open.
C. D. E.
Really enjoyed our visit to The Otter for our early Christmas meal. Their festive menu was affordable and filled to the brim with delicious food!
C. H.
Only have praise for this establishment, the food was excellent, the staff went out of their way to be accommodating and helpful, especially our server Cat. Will definitely be back when we were chance
g. m.
