Great food welcomed really nicely by leanne behind the bar. I was informed to find a table and order at the bar. It was promotional steak night as it is every Thursday. Rump steak chips peas tomato and mushroom washed down with pint of fosters. £9.50 can't make it at home for that price. Top marks unbelievable value for money.

Staff really good we ordered drinks and food got the drinks paid £26 bill . Then after 5 mins were told the chef had had an accident and was going to hospital. So the kitchen would be closed. We were given a full refund . Which meant the drinks were free.

Called in to this place for meeting with a client, we had lunch and a couple of drinks. We were looked after a by a blonde lady who I assume was the Manager who was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Food was very tasty and served nice and hot in good time. The Sun is a bright place to enjoy food and drink. The food was excellent and the fact they have Hobgoblin on drought was just perfect. Barman was very good and always ensured we were looked after. Can’t wait to go back!!!

I worked there as a 18 year old for a 2 year period. Wonderful pub and energetic staff. Visited last week on a Saturday evening. Drinks very over priced and zero service with a smile. Shame to see.

New management since I last went, and hopefully just teething problems whilst the new staff find their feet with the Covid restrictions. There is no app to order drinks from so we waited quite a while for a server to come take our order (we were sat inside) and then for it to be brought to us. We went on Sunday evening. We got informed that last orders were at 9.45pm and when we finally got served and our drinks arrived, we were asked at 10.05pm to finish our drinks outside so they could clean the tables.

I have never reviewed a pub before. 5 of us came on a Friday night, very busy but advised by the kind owner to get our orders in due to a group of 12 just coming in. The very attentive woman we placed the orders with was very friendly and understood some special dietary requirements. The serving staff were also very attentive and friendly. The food was typical pub grub - but very good value. All in all, a very well run pub with great value food. Thank you!

In my personal experience, a nicely decorated, lovely, cozy place. On a junction of 2 main roads, A635 and A638. Easily accessible, parking right outside, play area for smaller children. Small function room for hire. Food choice is quite good. You get what you pay for. Not over priced compared with similar places in the area. Friendly, helpful staff. Not a huge place, so can be quite busy during peak times. That shows how popular it is. Overall a nice visit.

I've now visited the Sun Inn several times now since it had a full refurbishment. Before it was badly in need of an upgrade and now it's great. Staff are friendly,helpful and efficient. The new menu is good but I feel it's a little limiting especially for people watching their weight but they do have a "specials"menu and a "lunch club" menu which is good value. They also cater well for children.

Some excellent bits of food here, and reasonably priced. Positives - 1) Brilliant pieces of food 2) Excellent prices for food 3) Great atmosphere where you find yourself chatting to other groups of people 4) Nice selection of beer 5) Always seats 6) Great location at the junction to Barnsley / South Elmsall from Doncaster Negatives -- 1) Don't pay attention to what the customers like to eat and will remove items from the menu just because they are "seasonal". They took the cottage pie off the menu which was such a nice food that myself and my girlfriend would eat a lot 2) Some of the staff struggle to hear what you are saying. 3) There is a lack of consistency amongst how the staff conduct themselves. One of the youngest ladies here was easily the best and most polite waitress I've ever had the pleasure of being attended to, yet there are others who don't seem to know how to communicate properly or change their way of dealing with complaints 4) Some of the food is unnecessarily spicy such as the steak. When I'm paying a lot of money for prime beef steak, I expect to be able to enjoy the tasty meat. If the meat is rubbish, then it's common for places to over-season meat to "create" flavour 5) No customer feedback mechanism 6) No electricity points so I cannot go and set up my laptop to do my work from there or charge my mobile It's worth checking ouit

A great local pub with very reasonably priced food menu. They do a lunchtime menu which is 3 courses for 5.99 . Fantastic value for money . Every fourth Saturday of the month they have entertainment whuch is usually a singer and tribute act . Very busy on these nights so might be wise to pre book a table in advance .
