Reviews of Newton Grange
I love this place. Great staff and I have to say that twice. The staff are amazing!. I’d love to give 5 stars but only 4 because the menu could be better from the point of view that the old high tens replacement is not as nice and chicken wings are not as nice as they used to be. The staff have no say in this matter. Mars tons do. Other than that the food is great, particularly the curry’s offered on curry night and the hand made pizzas are amazing especially as we have to get the gluten free option. Not many places do that. So glad that this my local pub.
Came for lunch with my mam, we both got the lighter lunch portions.
Mam had Hunters chicken. I had the Lentil Chilli.
We arrived for opening at 12pm and the meals arrived in good time from being ordered.
Mam enjoyed her Hunters Chicken, it was a little tough but I think the sauce/cheese made up for that.
My lentil chilli was nice, the portion of chilli was a little on the smaller side compared to the rice and tortillas. It wasn’t spicy so would be suitable for someone who doesn’t like spice. I have a wheat, dairy and egg intolerance which was noted on the order, although ‘wheat’ was noted as ‘gluten’ - which is a little different (I can eat gluten). A little while after eating I experienced some stomach discomfort, which I’m guessing could of been something like dextrose (which is gluten free but not wheat free). It wasn’t a full on intolerance I had as I would of been poorly for weeks instead of having an uncomfortable tummy for a couple of hours.
All in all, it was a good lunch, I would return but try something else from an intolerance point of view.
Loos/bathroom seemed like they could of done with a bit more of a clean - a bit dusty and grimy in places, but looked smart upon entering.
One to bear in mind if you’re in the area.
Always a pleasure to visit. We are firm regulars and the staff are second to none. The team work hard to make everyone feel welcome and it shows with the atmosphere of the pub.
Love the pizzas but High 10’s chicken are a real miss from the menu!
Ryan was on the bar recently and mixes a mean double gin! Great staff. Great pub. Recommend 👍
Michael was a great guy who attended to our needs
The lady behind the bar Katie - WOW!! I excellent customer service!
The atmosphere was amazing! The general public were happy
Total experience = one happy customer! I will certainly be coming again simply because of these two individuals
Thank you Katie and Michael x
Restaurant was fully booked due to a quiz but the manager squeezed us in with time to eat before everyone arrived. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. Food was way better than I expected, really nice, hot and perfectly cooked. Drinks prices were a bit on the high side but that aside I can't fault the place. We'll definitely be back
We love quiz night at the Grange, Fitzy and the staff always create a welcoming atmosphere.
A special shout out has to go to Jon...I don't think he's been working there to long but he was friendly, professional and seemed to be working his socks off. The new menu seems quite good, however my on going bugbear with the Newton Grange is Sunday lunch. I'm sure if they got a proper carvery in there instead of the packeted meat they serve Newton Hall residents would flock there...... Apart from that it's a great pub with excellent community spirit.
I was in on Tuesday night, bar was busy but Ryan made sure no one was waiting, even making cocktails for us. Nothing was a problem for him. He seemed to have a good laugh with everyone he served too. Will definitely be back
Busy on a Thursday evening with all sorts of customers with family’s and after work punters. Hence the three stars for service The steak & ale pie was small and had been defrosted then reheated as pastry was tough around the sides and edges the filling was tasty with a handful of chips and frozen peas. The gravy was gloopy and heavily salted . Would I return No.
In addition to this review I’ve since been contacted by management to explain and have been assured that this problem of food quality will be addressed. I wish them all the best for the future .
Had a lovely visit tonight with some friends. Food was lovely but the cocktails were fantastic.. Service from Katie was fab. Very smiley and friendly and made us feel very welcome..
It was my daughters 30th birthday and a last minute lunch before I headed back to work. The food was fab and the service even better. Very quick and pleasant staff. A pleasure.
