We found this place whilst up north travelling back from an event. We had 2 roast lunches for £15 and what great value it was. Yorkshire puffing was massive and not all air. Extra gravy provided without asking which was tasty and big bowl of veggies came separate. This is not posh nosh or a place for a special occasion in my view but its lovely staff, good honest food and a google search shows a 4 star hygeine rating. If i was local i would go again.

Visited on Friday lunchtime 14/10/22 with friends. We go here occasionally as like the atmosphere and always have a good meal. We all had the fish and chips on the 2 for £18.99 menu and it was lovely. The fish was fresh and chunky. We usually get hand cooked chips but this time it was served with large wedges of potatoes which we think let it down. Next time we will ask about the chips before ordering but we can recommend the Stonebridge - never had a bad meal. Staff were very friendly. No complaints and a good experience.

Lovely meal, large portions and very tasty. My mam and partner got the cod and it was massive. Well impressed 👏. I got the gammon, came with egg, chips, tomatoes, onion rings, mushrooms and I asked for extra pineapple. Staff were lovely and friendly too. We will defo be back

Extremely generous portions of food for very reasonable prices. The burgers are extremely filling and are a struggle to finish, the steak pie is very tasty but be warned that the puff pastry will go everywhere as it's so light and crumbly!

Consistently great meal, come here regularly just for eats. Nice old pub with a Sunday lunch to die for. Service was excellent and very friendly even though they were very busy. Meal deals during the week seem like value for money and we’re going to try them when work commitments allow. Quite a small car park which quickly filled for 12 noon so get their early (serving from 11:30am). I’d highly recommend this Gastro pub.

First time in this lovely pub 🍻 Food was exquisite! The veg soup was absolutely amazing along with the very unique black pudding on a bed of horseradish mash and black pepper sauce! Finally the Mac and cheese rolls was a pleasant addition and this is just the starters!! Booked for Sunday Lunch and boy, was it a Sunday lunch! Absolutely how a pub Sunday lunch should be. I didn't take a picture of the meal because it was consumed, the meat, the golden roasted potatoes, the smooth mash, the al dente vegetables, Yorkshire pudding all topped off with lashings of good tasty gravy. So full from dinner Dessert was not an option but they had some old school deserts which looked amazing. Next time! Price. Amazing value. Service. Good Parking. With food this good expect a little walk down the road as the car park isn't big and its very popular. Atmosphere. Pubby

Made welcome even though we hadn’t booked pleasant staff quick service and came the meals we had ordered the small sizes (seniors) and these were very generous I wouldn’t have managed a bigger portion roast mash and parsnips with a big Yorkie plated up then 5 different vegetables and more gravy really couldn’t have asked for more 5 stars ⭐️ will certainly return can’t recommend it higher

Very medoika Sunday dinner experience here. Nothing to write home about but edible. Was served off pouring cream with sticky toffee pudding and then got 2 conflicting stories about said off cream. Not somewhere I would visit again. On the pricier side too so makes it even more so off putting when food/ service isn't upto scratch.

After time in and around the area sightseeing for my birthday we saw this place on road ahead and decided to try it out as we needed a rest break. The food is absolutely delicious, the staff are absolutely amazing. And the two local ladies also eating there were lovely, welcoming, recommending food off the menu. It was the best meal (I had gammon and my partner had the Chinese curry) I could have ever wanted to eat on my birthday. Even the home made chips on their own are out of this world. We decided there and then that this would be our new special place to go for our special occasions, really looking forward to going back soon

Briiliant lively community pub where all are welcomed. Nice to see whole families with their kids in a very safe atmosphere, all treated as if they are the only customers in the pub. Great road links to get there and the option of local cycleways and walkways to get there. Small but cozy outside area, and welcoming segmented areas inside, served by clean toilets.

Table for 9 booked day prior. Sunday roast was delicious. It wasn't piping hot but hot enough. Gravy is possibly the tastiest we've had! Friendly team. Clean and tidy. Little one thought his sausage, mash and peas were delicious too. Fish and chips large and tasty. Would recommend 😋

Always eat here when visiting friends in Durham. The food is superb, best home cooked food I've had and plentiful portions too, always enjoy the food. Nice quiet atmosphere too without any pretentiousness or fuss.

We discovered that placed while on our weekend in Durham and absolutely loved it, the food was si good and portions were amazing, we visited twice and been served both times by a very lovely waitress. (don't know her name but she had brown hair and was very sweet). I have to agree with other feedback, amazing waitress but total disinterest and poor service from the manager.

Went here for Sunday dinner on my birthday, I never normally order Sunday dinner from pubs or restaurants, because they are usually pretty poor, compared to homemade ones, I saw how good they looked here, ordered a lamb dinner and it was the best I've had out anywhere (including several high-end places), it actually tasted homemade and came with lovely thick gravy and was a very decent portion, nice Yorkie too. That followed on from a very tasty crispy chicken in sweet chilli sauce with garlic bread that was perfectly cooked and a lovely ameretto semifreddo to round it off, totally stuffed, would highly recommend and would definitely go back again! Very attentive waiting staff (and plenty of them), an absolute gem and easily one of the best pub dining experiences in the North East! I can't wait to go back to try the regular menu! Thanks very much for a very enjoyable afternoon!

Had high hopes for this place, heard good things. Food was good, portions good. Waitress(Jasmine) was especially lovely, great with my boys and genuinely lovely person. I wanted to tip her, but the manager, and another lad were disinterested, not customer focused at all. My bill had an extra Sunday lunch on there!! Jasmine went to the manager, came back with new bill, no apology from the manager. Well bad news for them; I'm a taxi driver in Durham and always get asked for recommendations, oops! Won't be going back.

Food is great... however the staff are very miserable 😕 🙃 Also ketchup portions are child size, for adults!! Ketchup is a £1 a bottle if that... larger portions are needed!!! Pepper corn sauce is £3.45 per tiny jug, other restaurants charge 99p to £1.50... not value for money!!! So for this reason, I can only give you 3 stars... PLEASE rectify these small issues, and its 5 star from me.

We came here for food after our lockdown wedding last month and I can't rate the place highly enough! They decorated the room lovely, staff were all very friendly and helpful and the food was amazing! (Can't wait to come back for another Yorkshire pudding wrap!😋) A big thank you to Adam for his great communication and organisation of the day - nothing was too much! He went above and beyond to make sure our guests were happy, well fed and watered and, above all, able to attend in a covid safe environment. Definitely recommend ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Food was good, although a little under-seasoned, with generous portions, and the staff were pleasant enough. However, service was very slow and we had to ask staff for service on several occasions. We had also rang ahead to enquire about disabled access as we had a wheelchair user with us; we were put at a table right next to the toilets and asked to be moved, and when we eventually went to use the accessible toilet, found it was being used as storage for spare tables which meant we could not manoeuvre the wheelchair and had no access to the washbasin. Please can places take note to be more disability aware.

Nice location, nice service staff. Food tastes great, but a little pricey. Nice selection of beers and spirits. Pub looks a little dated and dark. Sitting outdoors is great when the weather is nicer. However, some regulars (might not be) were playing amplified music loudly from their cars parked outside, which destroyed the atmosphere.
