Delicious cocktails, nice and dimmed lighting, great vibe and music. Overall brilliant ambience. The cocktails get served quickly and the bar staff are friendly and outgoing. The place is on the small side but it’s perfect for a few chilled drinks with company. Been a few times and will definitely return!

Basement cocktail bar with excellent service from the staff. The cocktails are quite unique and use unconventional ingredients providing quite a unique experience to other bars. A bramble is a must but the whole menu is opening to what have be done with liqueur, sour, sugar and spices. Only recommendation for the team would be to darken the atmosphere slightly. Best cocktail bar in Edinburgh so far for me. Very cozy most of the time, the whole place is just far enough from most popular nightlife destinations that you never feel overwhelmed by other customers coming in. Good selection of spirits and other drinks - one should definitely try the french cider they tend to stock, great stuff. The staff is very knowledgeable and kind, they certainly know what they are doing and are really chill which is rare among bartenders. Music is never too loud, just noticeable enough for your voice to be covered up by the tunes mostly consisting of hip-hop and grime. Big up for water refills as well. Great place really, nuff said

Such a beautiful place and the most interesting fact being the location of the bar which is downstairs from the road which is an adventure itself to find out 😍 They do serve amazing cocktails and the servers were so damn good, so 5* for it

Really nice little spot with cozy alcoves to sit in. It was quiet as we popped in on a Monday night. We were able to grab some nice cocktails and mocktails, which is great for mixed company. There is one drink that is both alcohol free and vegan as well. The service was friendly and professional. Decent prices and great music. They do their menu in old book covers, a nice touch!

Great chill out basement cocktail bar for innovative cocktails and a great pre party atmosphere. Decently priced and Extensive cocktail menu with something for everyone. Great unpretentious service with bar tender and service to help you along the way to choose a cocktail that suits you taste. There’s a DJ on set on most nights, playing mainly old school trip hop, house, and hip hop. Perfect place to get you night started for the weekend. Tried their signature bramble and a gin based cocktail. Both we very well made and flavorful. Will definitely be back here whenever I’m in town

Lovely cocktails, pleasant service, nice little nooks to snuggle up with a drink or two. My partner and I were very pleased with our drinks. We did only stay for one round. The music is good but very loud, to the point that we couldn't hear each other, and the lights are dim enough that it was difficult to read the menu for both of us (the photo's lighting is thanks to the Pixel 3's awesome camera). Would still go back for the drinks!

This is a hard place to find. Find 16 Queen Street (it's on the ground floor), then look for the staircase down. The sign outside the door is small, but when you head down, you can see that it's Bramble. It's a bit loud inside due to the music, but there's also a very underground vibe because, well, you're underground. The cocktails were great and at pretty reasonable prices. Most importantly, they tasted good, if a bit strong (especially the Affinity at 25% alcohol).

This bar is reasonably difficult to find -- no signage and down some nondescript steps. However, once you get in, the bumping electronic music, dark interior, and cozy alcoves immediately make the journey worth it -- not to mention the extensive cocktail list full of really innovative drinks. We ordered one with gin, absinthe, pistachio, salt, and lime -- which was really interesting, not overly sweet, and with a great cut from the salt / sourness from the lime. The other drink we ordered was a whisky cocktail, milk punch, washed in dates, vanilla, and Weetabix -- really, really special, almost milky and floral. It reminded me of "cereal milk" (from NYC's Milk Bar) but with a whisky punch. Total bill ran us around 20 GBP, reasonable for such a special experience!

Not going to lie, I was a little bit lost trying to find Bramble initially, but boy was it worth it. Cocktails were amazing and they were playing wicked hip hop tunes. For just 2 guys working that night with a massive rush they kept on top everything without even breaking a sweat! If you are are ever in Edinburgh be sure to go and track this place down!

My fav bar in Edinburgh 8 years back and cocktails did not disappoint however bar staff did. Moody manager made us feel unwelcome instantly as I had a cold small box of leftover pizza and refused to let us in, as I solution I left it outside tucked away. During our drink he found it and threw it away, totally unnecessary and bad taste after nicely bantering with us during drinks.

Cannot recommend this bar enough. It is unpretentious with friendly staff, excellent music and great cocktails which made for the perfect start to our night. It is pretty cosy so going earlier is probably a good idea if you want a seat. Is a bit difficult to find. Just keep an ear out for hip hop emerging from a basement.

Speakeasy cocktail bar that serves a great variety and of excellent quality. They put a new look on some old classics, like the Bramble. It’s a bit hard to find, but that’s what makes it so neat. Recommend checking this place out!

Once you've found the place, it feels like an old speakeasy. The staff are amazing for their service and friendliness. The drinks weren't to my taste but other people love them. Later on the music gets pretty loud so not great for a conversation if you don't want to shout. Still, nice place just for the novelty.

Honestly. The drinks are superb. Really interesting mix of ingredients through a broad selection of well balanced drinks. Each original in its own right. Unfortunately. Where it loses points is the decibel level of the music. It makes it very uncomfortable to try and attempt to start up a conversation. A real battle of shouting and having to speak right into someone’s ear. I would happily of stayed to try another drink but the antisocial atmosphere completely put me off. Even our waiter had to raise his voice. I left feeling hoarse with a ringing in my ears.

There are certain expectations to a speak-easy, and Bramble exceeded all of them. The first thing wanted from such a joint, is that it be a little "secretive". It's fun to figure out how to get in to a hidden spot. It almost felt like cheating as we wandered the area of the address, and a couple slipped past us and went down stairs to a what felt like a dark apartment. When they didnt come back up, we went down. We pulled on a door that was in a dark corner and it opened. We thought better for a second, then walked in. We had found it. there was some chill R&B tune from the 80's playing with a deep bass track. People were tucked away into corners of the place, all looking like they were having a great time. The bartender was the waiter too, he came over promptly. After a glance at the unique and standard drinks they made, I got a scotch, and she got a "dealers choice" She asked the guy to make something he thought she would like. He brought over 2 great drinks. we kicked back as the music jumped from 80's rap to a 90's heavy metal tune. Everything was great. we stayed for another couple rounds, then we called it a night. We both agreed, one of the best spots we hit in town.

Difficult to find from street level. But once inside lovely and attentive staff who offer good service, incentive cocktails that are tasty. The inside is not what I expected - not a sleek or sophisticated cocktail bar but very laid back with big cushions and shabby furniture and also very dark. I've been a big fan of Bramble for about 7 years now. They are one of the classiest drinking establishments in Edinburgh and the place to go if you want a killer unique cocktail and a relaxed but chic environment with good music (often a live DJ). The venue is small, but perfectly formed and as they move more into a speak easy style establishment, they're being cool by not conforming and having a 'no Instagram photos allowed' rule, which to be honest, is quite nice. People focusing on people rather than sharing every moment online. They put real craft in creating each cocktail and it shows and the service has been very good on all my experiences, even when I'm trying to order an old drink off an old menu - they're are often happy to comply.

While the table service was a nice touch, on a busy Friday it was a bit awkward to queue at the bar to order and pay, and then have to wait for the staff to struggle through a busy dance floor to bring your drinks to the table.

Hipster paradise. Located under a dry cleaners, with a tiny sign this place can be difficult to find. Awesome cocktails, probably the best in Edinburgh. The bar is quite dark but never to crowded. On the weekend a live DJ plays classic 90s hiphop, though there's no space to dance.

We dropped in about 7 on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy, so we grabbed a seat and placed our cocktail orders. Really delicious drinks and not anymore expensive than other bars around this part of town. If you want to impress a visitor to Edinburgh with a bar this would be a good bet.

I LOVE Bramble. It’s hidden away, dark and loud and cramped and it takes forever to get a drink if it’s busy. It’s exactly what a great cocktail bar should be. Ask the (extremely knowledgeable) bartenders (mixologists?!) for recommendations and they’re happy to help and don’t make you feel like a bumpkin. If you’re there early enough you can nab one of the limited number of low seats or bed-like spaces and you might be able to get a quick conversation in before the DJ pitches up. But don’t let that put you off, you’ll get a cracking drink for a good price and literally rub shoulders, knees and possibly toes with a lot of cool hipster types, if that’s your bag. It’s great.

The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, along with all the standard cocktails are some unique to Bramble and they can knock up anything you dont see on the menu. Get here early if you want a seat, its one of the most popular venues in Edinburgh for cocktails at the weekend and its not very large. The waiters are very attentive making sure you don't need to queue at the bar and can enjoy the company of those you are out with. This is the perfect place to take a date or meet a small group of friends.

Bramble is a pleasant surprise. When you hear of it, it reeks of the everything I hate about cocktail bars. However, it managed to surpass expectations each time. While the barstaff spend a little more time looking hipstery than actually preparing cocktails, they still know how to pour. Unfortunately the menu is set and there's little room for manoeuvre and if you don't like the look of anything then you're stuck for what to drink until you move elsewhere. However the menu manages to cover a nice range of spirits and strange flavours from all over. Each one we tried was definitely on the sweeter side of things, packed full of syrup to flavour, but still tasted nice. Worth it if you're in the neighbourhood and know where you're going(otherwise it could potentially be a pain to find!).

Terrific cocktails. Bramble is the definitively the place to go if you're after an excellent version of the Old Standards. Old Fashioneds are just sweet enough without tasting like syrup, martinis can be made to personal preference and are smooth as gin-mouth-punching-silk. A basement bar, Bramble is pleasingly dark and poky - its the type of joint you could sit and read Raymond Chandler in while sinking rye and you'd feel cool as cool as cool. It gets awfully busy and hip-hoppy as the evening wears on, which may or may not be your thing, but it'd be my go to for a post-work tincture if you're wanting a strong, satisfying drink before heading home.

This is one of Edinburgh's premier Speak Easys. I thoroughly enjoyed the barkeep's reluctance for myself and my compratriot to sit it the bar, instead offering us a seat elsewhere and not insight of others entering. This really highlighted the bar's preference on keeping the atmosphere as 'exclusive' and empty as possible. We did however decline this offer. We ordered 2 Bloody Mary's but were greeted with the classic "sorry sir we don't sell Bloody Mary's", this ruse was on point with other Speak Easys we have frequented. A real highlight. The artifically created climate closely resembled that of high summer in New Orleans during Mardi-gras. Hot stuff! I will be deducting 1 star however...I have been researching knock patterns and memorising potential entry password for months and when we arrived the door, it practically swung open on its own accord as we decended the entry steps. My only cause for concern.
