Reviews of Doctors
E. S.
Excellent fish and chips. They have many local beers on tap and local gins to taste. Extremely friendly manager and staff. We came early and it was busy on a Tuesday
A. N.
Made a booking at this pub last Friday for a birthday drinks event. Staff and managers were all extremely helpful, polite and welcoming. The quality of service at the bar is excellent and there is a great selection of drinks. Atmosphere and decor is beautiful. Highly recommend and will be back.
S. F.
Great pub food. Excellent service. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Kind of a wide open space with big screens for sports all over the walls but wasn't obnoxiously loud with it. Conversation was still comfortably had.
D. J.
Great traditional Pub, friendly/ helpful staff.
Well furnished, great selection of lager in particular.
Comfortable seating, TV screens, it's all set up for The Six Nations.
It was our first pint on a great weekend in Edinburgh 😊👍
O. L.
Great atmosphere, different kinds of beer and many thx to Michael.
G. M.
Great fish and chips.. beer batter I think... either way it was superb. £35 for two fish a pint for me and a vodka for the misses. The drink is getting a bit pricey but it's city centre. Also turn the heating on.. not quite 5star but close.
C. W.
Local, cozy and friendly - I popped in for a beer and a place to charge my phone and, unfortunately the kitchen was closed, but the staff were absolutely amazing. They helped me to pick out a drink, find a comfy spot to charge my phone, and chatted with me for a few minutes. I was in a back corner but I was frequently checked on. It felt like a friendly, inviting atmosphere, which is exactly what you want from a local pub. I definitely recommend if you are in the area and searching for some beer and scram.
R. H.
Lovely atmosphere; despite being busy, service was timely and customer centred. Staff member Vinny and Rod provided excellent recommendations and we thoroughly enjoyed the house/session ale, Doctor’s orders! Will definitely be back.
P. G.
Stopped in for a quick drink after a busy day sightseeing. Lovely friendly atmosphere, lots of buzz about it. A lot of large plates of healthy servings of fish and chips going out to hungry students. Would have stayed for a meal only we had made reservations else where.
N. T.
Rrrrright good bar! At the risk of sounding like an average copy and past review - The staff are brand new, friendly as f**k and, without a shadow of a trout, the best fish and chips (with all the necessary condiments etc) going.
Darren (the GM) is as friendly as they come! Believe him when he mentions how fresh the fish is (He's not lying).
The staff there are brilliant, attentive and more importantly - they pay attention. After 2 visits they'll greet you by name and pour the drink of your previous libation! Look after these people. They're very few and far between. X

I love this place so much. Very student friendly prices with the 20% discount. The waiter and waitress were so kind and fun to talk to. Also the place had this creepy mediaeval hospital vibe that's really cool and unique. A must visit.
L. B.
The waiter was SO nice and the decoration of the pub was very original. This was the first time my family tried the haggis fritters and they liked them very much.
M. S.
A lovely dinner at Doctors. Nice place to eat, drink and talk. The food was amazing and friendly and helpful staff. Covid procedures in place.
L. K. L.
Ok place. Mostly for sportsfans I guess due to the big screens showing sport all around. Got a mulled wine that didn't taste much and was not exactly the definition of "warm". The "recover" beer afterwards tasted of ashtray. My partner was happy with his beer. Maybe it was just not my day for this place.
S. W.
Lovely pub very relaxed, friendly staff with a great knowledge of drinks ,will be visiting again
F.
Fantastic friendly welcome and an absolutely amazing selection of local drinks to choose from
M. B.
Don't know much was nearly 10.00pm on a bank holiday Monday so was quiet, pleasant enough though.
B. L.
Bartender was great. Pie was brilliant. Pints were what we needed. Will be back.
G. B.
I was thrilled to visit this place because of its name ‘Doctor’s. Being a doctor myself, I was curious to know the reason behind it’s name, hence found this building was named after Royal infirmary hospital and was built in 1874. Place and ambiance was amazing.
C. M.
Solid lunch option. Great venue, awesome waiters and delicious food. Only knocked a start of because I later found a different restaurant with the same menu. I was hoping for something a touch more unique.
R. H.
Nice old fashioned pub atmosphere used to be pub prices but 2 bottles of coronas for £10. No thank you charging these prices I’ll go a bars which atmosphere matches this.
a. h.
Nice bar very friendly staff again only a corner pub so if you been to one you seen them all but a nice cosy pub
B. B.
Good food, good choice of real ales and great service, the Doctors is a great pub!!👍
R. P.
Amazing pub. Staff are lovely and friendly. Food was great.
T. H.
Super pub with a great atmosphere and incredibly tasty fish'n'chips, thanks to chef Darren! Big portions and delicious beer. Great that we were allowed to come spontaneously with 8 people after a short call. See you soon :)
M. E.
Great, cozy pub with good food and tap beer options! The inner decor is all medicine themed, with a dash of humour as well.
Our waiter/bartender, Alex, provided us with all we needed on time and with a wide smile on his face (I presume, since he never failed to use his mask). Be sure to check it out!
W. G.
Staff very helpful and friendly. Partner and I had steak pie and the gammon. Both delicious. Would highly recommend
B. A.
Good people food was value for money would go there again
P. B.
Loved it. Great pub and the service was excellent. Well done Darren and team.
D. A.
Great food and service. Would definitely come back

Cozy atmosphere, quick and overwhelmingly friendly service!
I had fish and chips with a perfect crust and very juicy peace of filet!
Perfect place when visiting Edinburgh & looking for a place to eat at any time throughout the day!!!
J. B.
Fantastic hearty food and super friendly service. If you are looking for a place to eat or just a quick drink then this is a great place to stop off. Felt incredibly welcomed as soon as we walked in. Very fairly priced and food came quickly.

As a physician myself, I was very curious to pay a visit to the Doctors. Just across the street from the University of Edinburgh. Writing this review after my visit, I can confidently say it was time well spent. The owner is a great man. An original Scot and friendly personality. But that is only one piece of the story. The beers and drinks they have, very tasty. I recommend trying the Doctors Orders ale. A bit of malt. Very smooth.
As you look around the place you may notice a few medical items if you pay close attention. And then you’ll notice that the patrons seem like nice people. I think many are local. On the one side, I saw a man. Just a hint of gray. Very prestigious looking. Seemed like a doctor who had just finished a hard days work in the hospital.
Hunger came over me while sipping my ale and talking and I ordered several items on the menu, I’m not sure what their secret is but the Haggis fritters were delicious. Yes. Haggis, yes, delicious.
And when they say fish and chips. It’s because you get a large, fish size piece with chips (potato). Also very tasty. Not too oily for you foodies.
The hamburger, made from locally sourced beef was also mouthwatering.
Mind you - The serving sizes are generous and I did my level best to finish everything on my plate.
Finally, for dessert, the apple crisp/crumble with ice cream. It tasted like they had picked the apple earlier that day and baked it up fresh.
In summary,
If you’re a medical person or have ever seen a physician: Dr. Moses says: “Try this place”. You should enjoy your experience.
J. W.
Loved it here when we were away, the food was lovely and the staff were attentive and friendly
L. L.
Beautiful place, lovely fresh fish, friendly staff, highly recommended.
P. A. H.
Lovely little pub right off the Meadows. A good selection of beers and some healthy vegetarian options for me and the hubs loves their bangers and mash. Friendly attentive staff. Big thumbs up from me.
S. S.
The one and a half fish and chips was exactly the medicine I needed after walking through the city all day. A good sports bar with lots of TV screens and fair prices.
P. D.
My friends fish n chips was fresh and chunky very nice I went for the jerk chicken burger but they had no jerk glaze and they added cheese and bacon but also gave fish goujons for free which is great service but too much food maybe if we had a third person with us it would have been a great idea
A. F.
Good service and friendly staff, a nice pub to relax in.
K. P.
Cozy pub with great food, tasty cider, and a friendly bartender!
R. S.
We had a nice visit to Doctors for the first time post-lockdown yesterday evening. Was very impressed by the welcoming very friendly staff who attended to us quickly and efficiently. Will definitely be back. Food was delicious and well priced. Drink prices in keeping with other nearby pubs.
T. S.
Comfortable bar and nice food. Two main meals only 12.99 pounds. Traditional lasagna tastes good!
d. s.
Great sports bar. Friendly staff. Good food.
R. D.
A very nice, welcoming place. With nice decor
J. S.
Traditional pub with good food and friendly service
R. H.
Solid little pub that's made great by its staff.
T. S.
Incredibly nice folks that work here. Great service, and beer.
M. B.
Great little pub for a stop off during our walks in the city. Quite possibly the friendliest barman ever.
N. B.
The food was amazing, I recommend the fish & chips, great staff too.
R. K.
Pub with lots of differents beers, live football on several screens, pub food served
S. H.
Best service I have ever had.. Recommended and I'm not a bot lol.. Barman remembered and made sure to say hello even though he wasn't the one serving me 🙌
L. T.
Darren served us today, great service and food was lovely
P. B.
Nice bar good staff gets busy at popular times
A. A.
Cool little pub, nice vibes, just on an exploratory pub crawl.
T. M.
Me, my 2 sisters and friend came to edinburgh yesterday for a wee girlie day out. Went in here for couple drinks, the 2 staff that were on were fantastic, very friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere and very cosy pub. Would definitely visit again next time in this area. Thank you
K. T.
Very good service. Place very busy.
Prices a little expensive.
G. T.
Cracking pub, the fish and chips were amazing. Really friendly place. Highly recommended if your around for a pint or and meal or both.
J. M. A.
Dropped in from the street because of a football match between Denmark and Ireland. Great selection of beer and gin. Nice big screen to watch the game.
G. C.
Great experience sitting outside in the sunshine, Guiness and Navy Strength gin from Pickerings! Only been visiting on returning from Edinburgh across the meadows to home for 23 years!
A. B.
Good pub, quiet when we went. Great location for Fringe and Edinburgh University. Good beer selection. Friendly service during Covid restrictions, made very welcome.
M. Z.
Amazing friendly and smiling staff, lovely food, great beer 🍻
S. M.
Great service. Excellent fish and chips - very fresh! Great beer selection and friendly staff.
H. S.
Just stopped in for some food and drinks. Lovely pub; very comfortable, clean, and the waitstaff was very nice and friendly. The food is outstanding (I had the recommended fish and chips, gf had the steak pie) and the atmosphere was fantastic. They are following social distancing measures and made us feel very safe and comfortable. Absolutely recommend this place to anyone around Edinburgh!
B. B.
First and foremost, this place is ridiculously cute. The Christmas decorations didn’t hurt, but think super traditional pub. Exactly what you would expect from a proper pub.
When we walked in we were greeted by the bartender who immediately told us to pick a table, put down our stuff, and then he would help get us everything we wanted. He was very attentive and firstly asked if we wanted ice cold beer or just cold beer (being American this is a great question to ask). We went with whatever he recommended and tried a local Irish stout by Belhaven and a new millennium beer. Both were fantastic. We also tried two other cider recommendations and they were great as well. We moved onto food. The fish is fresh caught every day so of course we had to try their famous fish and chips. They did not disappoint. Huge portions, light batter, perfect flavor. We also tried the steak and ale pie and it was perfect!
I would highly recommend this place. Great food. Amazing beer selection and the most helpful staff making sure you have a great experience. Do not let this place pass you by.
A. A.
Bar man was very pleasant nice atmosphere
M. E.
Really nice food, even the haggis sticks. Good service and atmosphere.
M. “.
Great place- essence of scotish pub; bartender helps with your gin, whisky or beer choise. And the name?! That for sure will help to improve your health😜
A. S.
Nice food, friendly staff.
C. G. S.
Excellent pub! Fresh and delicious food, especially the fish. Extremely friendly, kind and service minded staff. They’re an absolute delight! Great sports selection on. Nice homely and open atmosphere! The interior is very cozy and even with a bit of privacy, if one so chooses. Wide selection of beers available. Great craft beers and local ones as well. It’s an easy choice for a local.
D. M.
Lovely bar with very friendly barman. Enjoyed our afternoon visit do much we went back on the evening
P. L.
Delicous food (haggis), resonable prices, very friendly and helpful staff
G. M.
Always nice, great customer service
A. P.
Best place ever. The staff are top notch, very friendly and welcoming. I'm not a frequent visitor to Edinburgh but when I do visit I'll always stop by the doctors because of the wonderful staff
A. T.
Plenty of space staff great beer great also.
C. R.
I liked it a lot. Clearly they have regulars and the lady working the bar was very good and pretty much owned the room. Excellent!!
S. J.
My wife and I had a meal here on our visit to the beautiful city of Edinburgh and enjoyed the excellent food and sunshine whilst eating outside, soaking up not just the sun but the ambiance.
R. U.
Really nice lunchtime meal and a drink. The food was good and the beer too but what made it was the great friendly service whilst keeping to the Covid guidelines in a robust but friendly way. Massive thank you to Meb our waiter for making us feel welcome and the rest of the staff behind the bar for helping choose our drinks 🙂.
K. 1.
Great night watching Scotland beat England!
g. m.
Yip. Good place. Staff very good. Well organised
P. D.
Great pub. Went here for lunch. The food is lovely. I had a tomato soup that was made on the premises. It was to die for, such flavours to it. The service I would say is of a high class. And the Irish gentleman who served me and others was top class. And with the drinks very knowledgable. I will definitely go again. And you should to
I. B.
A very friedly bar was greated by a nice bubbly girl .and even the bar staff were friendly not the usaul Edinburgh bar where the staff are not interested in you serve you no conversation and once you get your drink which you will be lucky to get a thank you.Thats the last time you will see them. But this bar was fine and haf two pints was happy when I left will go back the food looked good as well.
V. C.
Ok for the occasional night but no live music
A. S.
Nice food, fast service, good value. My second visit for lunch and Darren was the perfect welcoming and attentive bartender. Nice relaxed atmosphere, felt happy to dine alone which is not always the case with pubs in busy cities.
B. W.
I recommend! Very friendly service. We will come back here for sure.
F. A.
Darren and his colleague are like a well oiled machine. Place pretty much rammed in advance of CL final but service has been seamless. Food is great, pub in a brilliant part of the city. Great range of beers and excellent atmosphere. Well done lads!
T. B.
The food was excellent. Really tasty and filling for a reasonable price. Nice atmosphere, a buzz without being too loud, easily able to hold a conversation at a talking volume. Also had a mulled cider which was delicious but overpriced.
P. D.
Great Edinburgh boozer, all the football on show, the great Darren keeping everyone on their toes! A must visit when in the UK's best city
I. K.
Great little pub by the university. Good food especially the chicken wings. Were welcoming to a large and rowdy group at short notice. Some wait for service at the bar when a staff member was chatting to his mate instead of dealing with customers. Drinks a little pricey but not really a surprised based on the location. Would come back again.
R. T.
Nice pub very amiable staff a nice range of beers
N. P.
Great pub with good range of beers and lovely staff. Got stung on the foot by a wasp though so that kinda spoilt it lol
R. J.
Ya can't go in unless ya sanitise and register with track and trace via an app, and only when they see the green tick can you enter, they are constantly cleaning and sanitising menus, hand rails, chairs, seats and surfaces, and service was very good aswel, food looked nice also, outstanding, highly recommend a visit 👍👍
O. N.
Cheap food! Lovely atmosphere! Great all round!
V. L.
Food was incredible. I had the fish and chips and my wife got the Steak and Ale pie. The service was top notch, and possibly the friendliest person we met during our trip. Definitely check it out.
C. S.
Very cozy place. We ordered a beef pie and a classic burger and they were both amazing. Also, being so close to the university, you also get to see a lot of locals and students. The staff is very friendly as well. Absolutely recommended if you're searching for a simple Edinburgh pub night.
J. E.
Decent pub, well run and numbers kept at a suitable level to allow social distancing. In for drinks only, so can't comment on the food. Drinks good selection reasonable prices.
I. E. R.
The service was great and the staff provided a friendly introduction to the new health and hygiene regulations as per COVID 19. The nachos were tasty but not a great value offer for the price. Other than that, the prices are fair and the atmosphere lovely.
M. D.
Great pub with a very 'local' feel to it.
Excellent selection of beers and ales on tap, which are regularly updated/changed.
Great bottled ciders as well, including Rekorderlig Passion Fruit Cider.
Friendly atmosphere, and the lunch menu is reasonably priced comfort food.
Sporting events are televised on a selection of large screen TVs, and multiple events can be on different screens. The friendly staff will change event upon request.
L. S.
Relaxed environment, friendly and helpful staff, good 'pub grub' and great service
C. S.
Doctors is an inviting medium sized pub serving good honest pub grub. The decor is interesting as it is all medical related due to the history of the pub. There is a decent selection of beers on tap and the staff are friendly and helpful. The food is very good, simple pub meals done well. I like to go for lunch and have never yet been disappointed with my meal. There are tables of various sizes so very accommodating whether you are two for lunch or a group for drinks in the evening.
E. S.
I love this place. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. The food is A-M-Azing! And the atmosphere is so nice here. It also want crowded or overly hot. Would recommend to everyone visiting Edinburgh.
D. R.
Good beer, mediocre food.
A. H.
Great ambience, good service and sports screens if you're interested...
G. C.
Fabulous! The food was delicious! I had the chicken and mushroom pie. Other places just plop the crust on top which makes it hard to eat. The Doctors pub makes their chicken and mushroom pie more like a pie should be with a top and bottom crust. It was great. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. The bar tender was great too, very helpful with which whiskey we should try. He also suggested we take "The Double Dead Tour". We did and we were not disappointed. Thank you for making our 1st day in Scotland great!
W.
A nice pub with a good selection of beers on tap and plenty of good food on the menu. Most of the time, there will be sports on the TVs, and occasionally there will be live music.
The place is very nicely decorated, although the bathrooms are located down a flight of stairs, and so are not accessible as far as I know.
C. -.
Staff were awesome, very friendly and good selection of beer and spirits
s.
Great fish and chips and good beer in a nice calm ambience.
D. M.
Great pub which always has a warm welcoming atmosphere.
There’s a good few screens for watching sporting events but it is usually very busy so it’s advisable to arrive early for any big events to ensure you manage to get a seat.
Drinks are maybe about your average for Edinburgh City Centre. During the festival this place is constantly buzzing with the amount of people milling around.
M. C.
Lovely place for lunch. The food is great. Really nice friendly staff.
W. H.
A nice pub. Great atmosphere and friendly staff accommodated a group at only 1 hours notice amazing. Would heartily recommend the food also. In summary I would say superb.
E. L.
Staff was very friendly and all of the food we had was wonderfully delicious. Made my first haggis experience a very good one. Located pretty close to the Royal Mile so it's pretty close to a lot of the sights, but not so close that it's unreasonably priced. Right across from the Elephant House for HP fans.
J. G.
Really friendly atmosphere, nice staff and a good menu for a classic pub meal. We both had burgers and came away well fed and happy. There's lots of room in here so it was no bother getting a table and it looked like a good selection of drinks to fit most tastes.
V. A.
It was a shame cause when we visited so many taps were off, but have been before and will be back cause usually a great pub
J. R.
Roomy bar with some outdoor seating to enjoy the late summer sunshine. Speedy service. 👍
H. B.
Very competitive price with nice staffs.
J. B.
Great pub very welcoming staff and first class pint will be back
I. B.
Lovely pub with comfy atmosphere! We tried the homemade soup which was delicious and made with fresh ingredients! The veggie burger was yummy as well! The staff is friendly and professional! We defo come back!
L. B.
Typical pub grub. Cooked well and good portions. A pity the fish and chips was cod and not haddock though. Staff were friendly. Bathroom taps were broken and the soap dispenser was cracked, so could use better upkeep. But overall a good stop during the festival
C. P.
Staff are amazingly friendly. Warm welcome, very much needed on a rainy Edinburgh day.
j. t.
Fantastic host, crispy pint
G.
amazing food (great vegan options!) and lovely staff!
S. M.
Fast friendly service from the male bartender with dark curly hair. He made our experience special as he let us try different beers so that we could decide which we would enjoy best and also provided us with some friendly banter. 5 stars! ☺ 👍
A. M.
Nice place to sit outside and watch the city go by. Good menu
R. S.
Great staff and service but inside it's just another Green King pub.
W. L.
Nice place owned by Greene King, quick service considering how packed the place was!
J. W.
Really nice place. It wasnt too busy. The atmosphere was relaxed.
D. A.
Lovely pub situated near Greyfriars. However far enough not to be filled with tourists! Offering good pub food and selection of drinks. Pulled Saltbeef and cheese toastie on sourdough for me and tunamelt on sourdough for him with chips and coleslaw. Very tasty fare. Friendly and helpful staff too.
t. a.
Nice beer with crispy fish and chips
D. T.
Lovely pub, good humoured staff that laughed at my request for a long island iced tea. Chips a bit on the dry side for my liking but battered fish was lovely. My flat mate enjoyed her burger and her chips were lovely and I am just a fussy bugger.
J. M.
First visit for us. Met a friend there on their recommendation. Staff were nice and pleasant. A good selection of beers. The Innis and Gunn session IPA was very good. After a while we ordered food. The burgers, chilli and chicken penne pasta were all good. No complaints with that.
J. C.
Great location and service. Very friendly. Recommend stopping by
j. s.
Great service yesterday in a very safe environment. Staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. Greatly appreciated.
D. B.
Too busy and no seats and not sure about the rules with Covid if you are allowed to stand in bar without mask
C. P.
Stopped of for a pint as it was hot, staff very friendly, place very clean.
O. C.
Comfy and inviting atmosphere in the early afternoon. Barkeep was welcoming and cheerful. Food was classic pub fare and good comfort food. The pies were excellent! But VERY hot inside, beware!
j. m.
Perfect service and very good fish n chips
P. C.
Service was excellent. Staff is very friendly and atmosphere is lovely. Menu is phenomenal truly a real Scottish experience
P. P.
One of the many Greene King owned pubs in the city, recently switched from the Taylor Walker brand to Belhaven. Good pub menu, friendly service, and a nice standard of decor and seating. Popular with tourists, locals and students, and getting a spot can be difficult. A warm welcome awaits.
S. K.
Christmas meal package - food nice for a local pub service. Food served quickly with not much time to digest in between courses and plates taken away whilst some still eating but lovely staff and great atmosphere.
O. W.
Great staff, great fish and chips, comfortable seating. They have Old Rosie cider on tap here which is delicious if a little dangerous.
E. B.
This was a fun pub to go to. We had amazing fish and chips, maybe the best I've ever had, and great steak pie. Great atmosphere for getting a drink and watching soccer.
H. M.
Really nice authentic pub with a great variety of beers and also amazing vegan options such as vegan fish and chips and haggis.
Darren the barman is super nice - would highly recommend this place!
K. S.
Food was great, service was excellent and the only downside was no Belhaven Black
R. R.
Very busy pub in the early evening when I visited. No chance of getting a seat, but a real buzz about the place and a great atmosphere. Good range of beers and a tv showing football, but no sound.
M. U.
I can highly recommend the Doctors: A friend and me are going there regularly since a longer time. The food is great and the staff very friendly. It will be always one of our favourite places in Edinburgh!
(Alex wishes to be the best ;) )
S. F.
Service very good. DJ played great music. Staff friendly
M. W.
Staff were great and fully aware regarding covid rules. Definitely go back again !
J. R.
Nice pub and food quite good. Would be better to move the seat under the huge screen when in use. Banged my head a couple of times and and had to duck....
J. N.
Wide range of food available, staff friendly enough. Food is good pub grub. Slightly off-putting smell from the toilets throughout the pub though.
E. B.
A nice pub, with a good selection of lagers, ales, and everything in-between. It's a bit tourist-y, though, and the prices show it. A solid stop on a pub crawl, but I wouldn't spend a whole night there.
S. L.
Sadly it has gone a bit downhill over the years perhaps because its old clientele have all left - the royal infirmary is now miles away and the medical school has largely vacated the area too. Bog standard pub but decent ales and cheap with student discounts on offer.
K. S.

D. G.
A nice pub, staff were friendly and it had a relaxing atmosphere. Not tried the food yet but shall do at some stage.
J. G.
A popular pub for students and staff of the University of Edinburgh. Good drinks and food selection. Part of the Taylor Walker / Greene King franchise, so you might recognise certain dishes. Good quality though.
M. B.
Love this place! Good food, reasonably priced and good selection of beers/spirits. Staff courteous, friendly and helpful. Ask for Darren...
M. J.
Amazing local pub, really friendly service and great steak and ale pie. We were group of 8 and everyone were happy with their food! :)
E. M.
I enjoyed the whisky, not a fan of sports, however, so it was a bit loud and crowded with some kind of a game on the TV. Only had one drink, but the food did look good.
P. W.

My new local.
Manager is a knowledgeable guy with a great fun personality.
It's an old school bar but still feels fresh and young.
R. M.
Great bar. The barman (manager?) Is great, really attentive and friendly. Remembered our drinks order from previous visit. Nice traditional pub
F. J.
Great place with super friendly staff. 'Doctors' with its beers made our day perfect. Really nice atmosphere. Absolutelly recommend it.
D. R.
A great pub, with a decent range of changing real ales, and over the course of the festival I had ample opportunity to sample a few. The EPA and Inkie Pinkie were particularly good.
On the food front Doctors has a decent pub menu with the normal fare done very well, I certainly enjoyed the Big Ben Burger which was topped off with cheese, bacon and a fried egg.
M. S.
This pub has a good selection of well-kept ale, and the food is good quality pub fare and good value. The pub's near the university and so can be quite studenty, but I like that so consider it a plus :)
It's a good bit cheaper than Milnes, which is 5 mins walk away, owned by the same chain, and has the same menu
M. H.
Good pub with a good selection of beers. I've never had the food but it looks like good pub food. I like the traditional pub feel and friendly staff. The prices are a bit high though.
K. C.
Enjoyed Doctors on multiple levels, after being tourists (2 USA, 2 IRISH) for the weekend it's as a welcome homey find, kind of like a creeky well chactered local, with good food, & selections. Terrific staff, barman (initial D) personable, knowledgeable, and thankful to us. Definite return when hubs & I get back to Scotland . Thanks Doc !
R. “. M.
Good service with a friendly atmosphere and good selection of drinks.
J. W.
Lovely quaint little pub with a very friendly atmosphere and a great range of draughts to choose from.. shows live sport too with 2 large screens and 2 or 3 smaller flatscreens so you never miss anything you wanna watch if it's on but you certainly don't get the feeling that the TV screens are anything more than a background pleasure.
P. A.
Normally OK but this visit had no ales, left disappointed and went elsewhere
叢.
Touristy, the prices reflect it's location. However, it does it in such a way it scares off the students. so you can be assured of a quiet sophisticated drink.
C. M.
Doctors is a fantastic wee bar, went here for St. Paddy's Day with a group of friends and the atmosphere was amazing. Staff has done so well especially since it was so busy!
T. A.
