We were staying next door at the Murrayfield Hotel and had returned from a day in Edinburgh. We decided to have some drinks and dinner in this Hotel Lively bar lounge with great drinks. Great pub to meet at before and after a rugby match. Even if you don't get a ticket for the match, this is still a good place to watch a game. Good selection of hand pull beers, as well as lager, cider and wines and spirits.

We stayed 3 nights in the guest rooms. Clean and comfortable with friendly staff. A little rough around the edges in one or two places but no worse than I would expect. Easy taxi ride into town. I would stay here again. I would also recommend this place as a cheaper and easy hotel.

This place is just awesome. Such an authentic and local feel to it. We showed up around nine in the morning to check in and were, obviously way early, but they let us park our car there and the bar was already open with the rugby World Cup showing. Jessica got us some pints (great Guinness) and helped us regarding some questions we had. We ended up heading to the city and upon our return than evening, Alicia got us checked in and taken care of in the pub for dinner. The fish and chips are outstanding (and huge...be forewarned)!!! The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Only six rooms above the pub, so very quaint and cozy. Alicia was there again in the morning after our great-night’s sleep. She served us a tasty breakfast before we headed out. Great pub, great rooms, and even better staff. Plus, you don’t have to deal with the madness of Edinburgh traffic, but are close enough to hop on the bus and get into the city in less than 20 mins. Awesome gem of a place!

I recommend it with your eyes closed, it was a wonderful experience in Edinburgh. The staff were welcoming, friendly and very professional. We were able to get the nicest room in the hotel without being asked anything in return. Breakfast is included: it is of very high quality, a treat. We were able to check in 4 hours before the time indicated. The hotel is located right next to a well-connected bus stop to reach the center in around ten minutes. Amazing stay, to repeat without hesitation

It was my first time in Scotland and when I return in the future, I will definitely plan to stay here. Brilliant place to stay in the centre of Edinburgh, especially if you are travelling with your dog.Hotel room spacious, clean and very reasonable room price (2 adults and one dog). Needs a bit of a paint, but the food is fantastic and great value for money. A wide range of food and drink deals are available such as buy a burger (roughly £8 ) and get a drink for £1 more. Staff very efficient . Would definitely go back for some proper "Pub Grub"

Stayed here just for 1 night after wild camping for 10 days around Skye and Scotland. Arrived early (10am) to be told check in was 2pm, although, I had stated that I wanted to check in between 11/12. The room wasn't ready, but the very helpful staff let us freshen up in the room before we headed in to Edinburgh for a bit of sight seeing. We got back and the room was perfect. We went downstairs for something to eat at about 7 ish but couldn't get a table, again, this wasn't a problem as we only had to wait 45 minutes to get a table. It was well worth the wait, the food here is faultless (including the Scottish breakie we had the following morning) and I would recommend it to everybody. Extremely dog friendly. Well worth the stay!

Its more of a pub with rooms upstairs (6 - I think) than a conventional hotel as such. Thankfully that's reflected in the price. Its a lovely old grand house thats been converted (with a busy pub) on the Murrayfield stadium side of town. The front yard provides a handy car park and it isn't hard to locate. If you're not familiar with driving in Edinburgh then its as close to the city centre as you'll want to drive. The room has been a fair sized room which has had a basic ensuite grafted into it. The ensuite was clean but quite tired. The room had had a lick of paint and the bed was two comfy singles thankfully bolted together. Small tv and wee kettle etc. No noise audible from our room at the back of the hotel. I'm sure the thick stone walls help. Comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good and well presented. At this price it's hard to pick holes in anything. The sort of place you'd book if you just need somewhere to crash after a few beers....or a rugby game.

Nipped in to have lunch with my daughter before my patner and I travelled back to England. We ordered our sandwiches and we waited and waited, eventually my daughter had to ask where our sandwiches were. The food was lovely though. Only gave 3 stars as the time it took.
