Reviews of Hoot The Redeemer
T. D.
I loved this place. It was recommended by one of the bartenders at a different bar in Edinburgh (Lucky Liquor).
It’s a nice spot to chill with friends and grab a nice drink. I had their Old Fashioned which was finished with a spray of Lagavulin (absolutely loved it). I forget the name of the other drink but it was minty creamy and finished with shavings of a mint chocolate.
The staff is friendly and helpful. Overall I had a great time!
S. P.
It's a great experience! The staff are attentive, and they know their cocktails. The Pinch & Sip claw machine is hilarious, and makes your night an interesting one to see what the bar staff can come up with. Highly recommended, and if you enjoyed this, also try the sister bar "Panda & Sons"
M. R.
This is a really nice themed bar, pre-covid would have been even cooler as there's no popcorn any more and you're just served ice-cream instead of using the machine. Nonetheless, the alcoholic ice-cream is delicious and the drinks are really varied. I had ordered a drink that I really wasn't enjoying and the waiter was happy to get me a different drink for no charge.
P. M.
Unbelievable cocktails, out of all the places I visited the bartenders and staff was able to deliver cocktails to our personal taste the best here.
If you enjoy a fruity or sweet cocktails, this is the place to be. The atmosphere is unmatched aswell and the staff are attentive and amazing.
I would come here every week if I was a local.
K. S.
Found the atmosphere to be really pleasant in here, loved the decor and the themed cocktails. Would recommend the Taps Aff which tasted amazing which is great as it's quite a pricey place. The only disappointment was that we visited to try the alcoholic icecream and found that it's not an option at this moment in time.
S. R.
What a hidden little gem! Recently visited Edinburgh and was suggested heading to this venue for cocktails. Friendly staff and the cocktails were delicious. definitely worth a visit 😆
F. A.
Been twice – once pre-Covid and once the other week. Both times my experience was amazing and the staff were delightful. The vibe revolves around witchy things like tarot cards. My favourite part is the machine where you can use the claw to dive for plastic balls with flavours on them, and then the bar makes you a drink with those flavours and the spirit of your choice. Such a creative and fun idea! At the entrance there is a Palmistry poster which makes waiting for a seat not the slightest bore – you could stare at that poster for a quarter of an hour! Dim lighting, underground, with lots of cosy seating areas. The wallpaper of bathroom is very entertaining. All the drinks were delicious and there’s one that tastes like mint chocolate ice cream, and my partner said it was the tastiest cocktail he’d ever had. Reasonably priced to boot. The only thing I’d say is that I miss the paper menus with the tarot card drinks; hopefully that returns soon post-Covid.
J. W.
We loved our drink. Cocktails were fab and great price. Staff really friendly.
K. H.
Cute and private bar, down a small stairway underground. The drinks were a bit out there for me, and the wait staff weren't in very good spirits.... other than that, nice place.
G. H.
Should you ever find yourself in the capital of Scotland and in need of a break from tourist culture, stop by Hoot the Redeemer. Beautifully cultivated cocktails, alcoholic slushies that put N'awlins on notice, and a wonderful vibe. 5/5
H.
Really cool little bar. Staff are lovely and the grabber machine where you can pick the flavours for your cocktails is a fab idea. It's a really relaxed bar and I'd highly reccommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh.
A. M.
Love this place, tucked away behind a door you wouldn't even notice next to Bella Italia. The special cocktails all looked excellent, but if they don't tickle your fancy the staff are more than willing to make the classics. Good selection of other drinks as well. Our friend tried the ball machine to select her flavours and was delighted with the outcome
D. G.
I wanted to try everything but I missed out on the alcoholic ice-cream vending machine. Maybe next time. The cocktails are very flavourful and strong. I love that it is underground, like your hiding away somewhere. It feels intimate.
J. B.
A really quirky bar, we used the claw machine to find out which fruit would go in the cocktails. The staff were very friendly and the seating was old cinema seats. You have to go.
N. K.
My wife and I had a fantastic experience here. The booze is great and the staff is genuine and friendly.
Without spoiling too much of the atmosphere, it's fun and engaging without being too schticky. The place does a great job of balancing a relaxed atmosphere, classy menu items - without taking itself too seriously.
I highly recommend trying out the claw machine. You'll use it to pick out two flavors which you can bring to the bar. From there, the bartender asks about your drink preferences and will make a cocktail based on those two flavors. So cool and fun!
My wife got the ice cream which was also delicious.
K. P.
Unique and quirky are the two best words I can find to describe this bar.
This is a cozy bar equipped with old cinema-style seats, an alcoholic ice cream dispenser, and a fun create-your-own cocktail vending machine.
All in all, this is a fun place to go with a date or a few friends before dinner or to start a night.
The staff was friendly and the cocktails had care put into each glass. It’s a lovely place if you’re looking for a bar that’s out of the ordinary.
M. B.
Quirky décor and decent tunes don't save this bar from being average.
Staff were friendly and helpful. And generally it's a friendly place.
Liked the decorations and signage which do help give it a New Orleans kind of vibe.
It's cocktails are nothing to write about, so I won't.
The toilets were not the cleanest when I was in.
In summary worth a one visit, as you may like it. But doesn't stand out amongst the wealth of bars in the centre of town.
A. M.
Súper cozy place!! Great vibes, cool music yummy drinks and a great service! I truly recommend you to play the “Pinch’n Sip” so the bartender will make u a customized drink! The adult ice creams are tasty as well! The really nice waiter even took a selfie while doing the favor of charging my phone ! ☺️☺️☺️ LOVED the place and would repeat for sure!!
L. B.
Cosy and quirky bar, the cocktails are excellent and staff are very friendly. You need to book this place or you will most likely not get in. There was not much atmosphere due to COVID but we can’t hold that against them as they’re following the rules. Definitely worth a visit
C. B.
Really cool bar/speakeasy. The decor and atmosphere is unique and fortune teller/magic themed. Funky cocktails, I got Reykan it rain and it had a light that changed colors. They also had boozy ice cream. Good music and they give you popcorn as well. Would recommend visiting this unique bar.
S. S.
A cool speakeasy under the main ground level. Inside has a cool vibe and a fair amount of tasty craft cocktails. In our group of four we each got different drinks and all were tasty (so no ‘duds’ at least in our orders). Their beer list looked good, but come here for the cocktails. They also had some tasty looking adult ice creams that would be a nice night cap.
The WiFi did not work though, so be advised if you’re traveling and depend on it.
L.
Absolutely class place. You need to call in for at least one drink if you're in Edinburgh. Totally unique and not up it's own whatsit. Wonderful welcoming staff. Try the Pinch n Sip!
M. J.
Awesome place! A fun drink menu with drinks inspired by Tarot cards, and an overall 1950’s carnival theme. The alcohol-infused ice cream and drink crane machine are also incredibly unique and fun! The atmosphere is lively, and I met some great people while here.
Oh, and if you tell the staff your best joke, you’ll get your picture taken and posted on their walls. Cheers!
A.
Cool and quirky speakeasy off princes street in Edinburgh!! Completary popcorn was a nice touch 😝
Reasonable drinks prices and a unique experience! Came for drinks on a date and got complimentary popcorn as we sat down, it was a little quiet but it was a Wednesday afternoon and the entrance was difficult to spot (expected for a speakeasy).
There was a claw machine there for £1 where you could choose up to 2 cocktail flavours from and ask the bartender to make a drink, this was awesome, loved it!
The bar staff were super friendly and helpful all evening, the vibe is very chill. Will defintiely be coming back here!
F. S. M.
Such a quirky fab place! Blink and you will miss the entrance! Once inside you are delighted with quirky, gypsy, funfair, cinema decor. As for the cocktails...wow...choose your tarot card and enjoy! Not your usual 'sex on the beach' rubbish...but new flavours and original drinks. Definitely recommend for something different whilst in Edinburgh.
J. G.
Great atmosphere, fun secret entry door, lovely waiters on table service, very attentive
W. F.
Amazing hidden bar. I've passed it so many times and thought it was actually a fortune tellers hahaha
L. T.
Amazing bar, fun staff. Amazing variety of drinks and of the few we worked through... Delicious! Worth a visit can get busy so get there early. Loved it and will return
M. H.
Great cocktails, vibe, music and staff. Must visit if in Edinburgh
M. G.
Staff friendly, drinks good and reasonably priced for a city centre cocktail bar.
Like many bars in town because table or app service we only had 3 drinks in 2 hours which is just a sign of times.
(Beginning to think that after minimum pricing it was the Scottish Government who released Corona virus to curb Scotland's drinking 🤣 )
H. H.
I love, love, love visiting here! The staff are so welcoming and ready make an effort to ensure every drink is excellent, they are clearly super well trained and know their stuff. Atmosphere and decor is really fun, I'd recommend booking a table if you want to visit during a busy time as it's a popular spot! If you are not sure whether to try the grabber machine or not - do it, it's a fun way to try something new!
L. M.
Down the stairs, behind the fortune teller, lies what has to be one of the most fun drinking dens in Edinburgh - from a claw machine that grabs cocktail flavours, a vending machine for grown up ice cream and the toilets papered with 50 shades of grey there are elements that will keep you talking long after you leave
A. F.
Hidden away off the street down some stairs and behind a massive door is this wee gem.
When you walk in it's like an old man's bar however once you see the cocktails then it's a whole new ball game.
Had a mocktail which was great not just fruit juice and ice but something with proper thought and taste to it.
Will be back....without the car next time.
J. W.
The setting of the bar is super cool and trendy and really niche, the cocktails were quite pricey but they were nice all the same. I didn't feel the staff were too welcoming but it was pretty soon after they opened. I'd like to go back
A. O.
We visited this bar yesterday and it was a nice experience. The waitress was welcoming and the cocktails were fresh and tasty.
A. O.
Little hidden gem! Excellent beer on draught, a range of cocktails, hidden secrets all around and some of the nicest staff going. Will definitely be back again!
C. H.
Came here for one last drink before heading back to Manchester tomorrow morning, it’s a hidden gem! We walked past the doorway and had to double back haha. Smells lush with all the incense, exciting cocktails and really lovely staff. Wish we could have stayed all night.
W. T.
Just amazing great cocktails and asked for cocktails that were not on menu and they made them ,perfect
E.
This is definitely a hidden gem, lots of nice cocktails and brilliant atmosphere. Love it.
T. T.
What a great, secret little hideaway! Located right in the middle of Edinburgh, just off Princes Street, totally unique and quirky. The staff are brilliant!
C. J.
Quirky little cocktail bar, nice drinks, very friendly staff. Second time visiting Edinburgh & we have visited this bar both times. See you next time! 🍻🍹🍸👍
叢.
This place is exactly what it promises to be.
Underground, quirky, carnivalesque and playful.
You can get some really great cocktails for a decent price (£7.50)
I really liked the Professor Green cocktail - with mint and Absinth.
Some of the sofa's are a little uncomfortable, but there is plenty of (quirky) spaces to be seated.
They are a little difficult to find and if you don't know what and where they are you will easily miss the entrance.
I haven't ventured on the Flavour Picker, nor did we get out there to choose an ice-cream flavour.
But that is something for next time.
I enjoyed my visit here and will bring out some friends at times to enjoy (win?) some cocktails
recommended for a date night, or with a bunch of good friends.
T. M.
A sibling of panda & sons, this is a great place to grab a drink in a speakeasy style bar in town. Try your hand at the pinch n sip and create a new cocktail with the flavours.
P. M.
Staff are really friendly, unique cocktail list, great music.
N. E.
Quirky little sister bar with amazing drinks, excellent staff and fun atmosphere. Highly recommend asking the staff to help out with drink choices because I had the legitimately best thing I've ever tasted off the back of questioning our attendant.
R. P.
I've been going to Hoot for a few years now and it's always been great! Loads of unique aspects to the place, like boozy ice cream, slushies and a cocktail crane game. Their own cocktail menu is full of delights - one of the few places where I'll order something that doesn't sound like my kind of thing because every time I have I've been pleasantly surprised! They have a unique menu but will make literally any cocktail you can think of, and the staff are attentive and skilled enough that you can even ask for "something unusual" and after a couple of questions, you're presented with one of the best drinks you'll ever have! Would highly recommend their mystic ball cocktail, and would seriously encourage you to ask for a surprise and let the bartenders work their magic!
s. g.
Really funky place. Absolutely unique in everyway. From church pews to 50s cinema seats. So much to take this n. Cocktails were good and local produce sold. Great claw game for to choose cocktails
N. P.
I went to Hoot the Redeemer for the first time in years the other day and it was a great experience. It's a really eccentric venue that is worth going at least once to just see how unique it is even if the aesthetics might not be to everyone's tastes. The cocktails were all great, if offbeat, and I wanted to try everything on the menu. The servers were excellent, to the point I was even comfortable asking for recommendations which they were more than happy to give - asking me what spirits I liked and if I wanted a classic, unusual flavour combination, etc. A really unique and friendly place that's worth seeking out and I'll definitely be going back to see all the oddities it has to offer.
F. B.
Great atmosphere, great cocktails. Theatre seats.
A.
Eventhough it doesn't smell that nice in there, it was a great experience. The drinks looked and smelled fantasic. We have had a TAPS AFF (the one with the marshmallow on the top) and a ACE OF CUTS (the one in the tea cup).
G. S.
Wonderful cocktails and very friendly staff, would visit again definitely 😁
a. t.
Loved it! I can't wait to visit Edinburgh again and go back to this bar! ❤️
M. W.
Awesome unique decor, a fun drinks machine and the drinks are tasty too.
C. B.
Funky bar with great staff, good bathroom reading and secret cocktails
l. s.
Cute city centre bar with a very fun menu including cocktails, alcoholic slushies and boozy ice-cream.
G.
Incredible bar, loved the decor and themed drinks. Our favourite was the drink we created ourselves using the claw machine. I would definitely recommend this to visitors.
M. H.
It was quite weird being in there with all the new restrictions; they definitely change the feel of the place. It is a shame as it's always been one of my favourite bars in Edinburgh because of all its little quirks. Nevertheless, the staff and service were still brilliant and the cocktails were amazing. So, it just proved it doesn't need rely solely on its gimmicky decor to be a great bar. All the new rules were explained to us clearly and we were served nice and quickly so we could easily be out by 10 without feeling rushed, though we only arrived about 9.20pm.
E. H.
Service was friendly. Cocktails are super tasty, and well done. Interior and atmosphere are perfect. The ice cream machine is unmisable.
H. F.
Really friendly staff, great cocktails doing off the cuff cocktails too. Alcoholic ice-cream fun and fab and the décor is something a little different too. Would definitely go back but make sure u book well in advance thank you to the lads serving us
L. M.
Really cool underground bar with a 50s funfair theme. Been here a couple of times, both alone and with friends. The staff were really friendly when I was on my own. The cocktails are incredible, so delicious, brightly coloured and inventive concepts. I’d love to try the boozy ice cream next time I go. A bartender told me the little old Korean lady who owns it comes in and makes the ice cream by hand which is so sweet. That means it’s gotta be good!
V. M.
Quirky little spot, you would never know it was there , well worth a visit .
B. R.
Part of the pandas family. Honestly amazing cocktails with a unique atmosphere that you have to experience. A must try for anyone in the area.
N. C.
Funky little bar with a great selection of cocktails, fun staff and great music. Also not completely packed so you can actually find a place to sit!
N.
1950s style cocktail bar serving alcoholic slushies and ice cream. Great for cocktails and the entrance is quirky.
S. M.
Quirky bar hidden away from the street and easily overlooked. Go for the experience
J. M.
Super fun speakeasy! I had the shared cocktail with my friend and it came in a fake Starbucks cup. My only complaint was that it was pricey for the quantity.
S. C.
They have a wide range of quirky cocktails and boozy ice cream. If you're more into traditional stuff, their bartenders are highly trained and can mix your favourite drink no problem. It's not a quiet place, but definitely okay to sit down with friends and chat in dimly lit corners and nooks.
F.
Amazing cocktails and amazing service. Definitely worth a visit if you are near.
P. M.
Highly recommend. The decor and over all atmosphere was just amazing. The drinks were inventive and strongly poured. Take a minute to try the claw machine drink suggestions. The spicy popcorn table snacks were excellent.
Stop in grab a drink and enjoy looking at the decor. Would like to mention we got in before the rush and the environment may change when busy.
M. P.
Beautiful quirky space. Unlike its sister location, cocktails lack the same creativity. It was also really really cold inside despite it being a nice sunny day outside. A/C?
C. B.
Very interesting place to have a drink as you go down the stairs you enter a bright ish room and the drinks are fabulous. I recommend doing the pinch and sip cocktails it's great fun.
t.
Really cool wee pub and cocktail bar. Took a wee while to find it but was well worth it. Some alcohol flavoured ice creams, great locally brewed beers and clever cocktails. Loved it and the theme is fun. Staff friendly too and the decor is class.
L. H.
Quirky environment, lovely drinks, hefty bar bill!
E. P.
Such a peculiar place with interesting cocktails. Drinks were definitely quality so absolutely recommended.
R. D.
Very expensive but very quirky.
Great place for one of two drinks but not somewhere you would want to spend the whole night.
Entire bar is also underground so not great for a nice day.
B. C.
Fabulous little place, cocktails were small but full of flavour, there were 6 in our party and we all enjoyed what we had.
M. K.
I love this quirky little bar. The cocktails are amazing, albeit a bit on the expensive side, but it's city centre prices with the awesome experience of sitting in a little secret underground bar guarded by a fortune telling machine. It gets seriously busy, as with anywhere, at the weekend so if you want a quiet visit pop in during the week for an evening cocktail
E. M.
Very quirky, unique bar! Didn't even know it was there until pointed out to me, and I'm so glad it was!!! Very attentive staff, Lyle was lovely and made some amazing drinks for us! This bar has some very, very cool and individual ideas! Highly recommended if you're looking for something out of the norm!
B. D.
I love the whole atmosphere of this place. A speakeasy with a difference. The frozen cosmos are delicious and every table gets a basket of popcorn which adds to the feel. It's quite small so if you are planning on going with a larger party, definitely book ahead of time. A fun, different location for Edinburgh and a must go for a good night
S.
Quirky hidden bar with a really great selection of cocktails and boozy slushies. There was complimentary water and popcorn which was a really nice touch. Arcade style games and ice cream machine were really interesting, and table service was a plus. Just wish the cocktails were a little bit stronger!
N. H.
Great fun, quirky bar, awesome atmosphere
M. Y.
Great hidden place , love the alcohol ice cream. Wish I lived I’m Edinburgh to keep going to this bar.
M. J.
Great bar! But plastic straws in 2022 look weird…
J. G.
A Hidden Bar, Retro Arcade Games, Good Music, Great Atmosphere and really good cocktails! This is what Edinburgh is all about!
The service was great too, the guys came to our table to take orders and we got a complimentary basket of spicy popcorn!
Would highly recommend this bar!
Z. T.
I love quirky and unique places, so I definitely enjoyed it here! I had a boozy ice cream here on one of the hottest days in Scotland and it was perfect! Also had a boozy slushie, which was quite nice! Staff is friendly too. Also, the womens bathroom had pages of 50 shades of grey all over the walls and I really liked that I had the choice to read it for free and then go back to my friend and give her quotes from one of the worst books of all time. Definitely a must visit!
J. D.
Great cocktail bar! With a fortune-teller theme, and fan of tarot cards wont be disappointed! All the cocktails are based on a tarot card or you can try a cocktail from the vending machine which gives you a random combination or ingredients for the barman, and they will make your combination! Great place for 1 or 2 drinks to start the night.
G. W.
Very quirky little place and looks amazing on the inside. Visited here before I went to the Ivy on The Square and really enjoyed it. I did ask if they had anything non alcoholic and although they said that they don't, they would be happy to make me something if I just told them the flavours I liked which they done which was great of them, and it even tasted brilliant too!
The cocktails looked good, the menu was great and the atmosphere was excellent too.
A. H.
Definitely a fun bar worth a visit if you're new to the city. Nice beers and if you're in to fun sugary cocktails then you're golden. I can't say I've ever had a bad time being in there but I do feel they could give the experience a bit more TLC in keeping with the unique speakeasy theme it tries to align to.
E. W.
Terrific bar tenders .. Wonderful environment .. Fun place .. Must try
B. F.
Lovely staff, they were so friendly and helpful all night. Great service. Has to be some of the best tasting cocktails I've ever had. Really cool quirky look to the place, certainly worth checking out.
b.
Hidden gem! Someone told me where this was and I said "I don't remember seeing a cocktail bar on that street" and that is completely accurate! It's something you walk by 100x and unless you know it's there or are really observant you wouldn't notice it.
Love the decor and the old retro style. The old cinema seats are awesome! The staff are more than happy to recommend a drink. The drinks are tasty and reasonably priced! I always think popcorn is a better bar snack than peanuts!
p. g.
Great little bar , if you can find the red door.
G. T.
Staff very pleasant. Nice Bar.
C. F.
Cool bar, nice decoration and good staff, though i was only there for one drink. For those from ireland- it was decorated like a hipster Eddie rockets bar . Seems upmarket, pricing is pretty high, but they have nice drinks. Had a triple coffee Porter and it was gorgeous, and I'm a big stout fan.
Nice one
G. S.
This place = INCREDIBLE. GO! If you visit Edinburgh, but don't go here, you've missed out. This place offers great beers and fun mixers/liquor ice creams. The atmosphere is incredible and the owners really outdid themselves. Love the sneaky entrance! You find a place like this anywhere else in the world.
K. B.
Amazing cocktails, slushies and ice cream in a kooky setting!
J. M.
Well styled and quirky bar, whether it's the murals, ice cream machine or the ex-cinema seating, maybe the karma sutra pages plastered on the bathroom walls, it all adds up to a great place to take visitors to the city.
The location really buoys it, you can't help feeling smug taking someone to a bar they haven't even spotted being seated and served popcorn before you've even pulled out your wallet.
Drink selection doesn't have the same finesse as their sister bar Panda & Sons (love that place) but beer selection is locally sourced which is nice
C. L.
Great fun themes bar. Does attract out of town crowd but they quickly evaporate once the price of a round becomes clear! At least they take the fake tan smell with them!! Seriously though a great little place, if you can find it!
S. K.
A super cool place, one of my favourite places in Edinburgh! The staff are really friendly and the decor is awesome. There are lots of cool and fun menu items like alcoholic ice cream and frozen cocktails. Definitely give this place a try!
Z. A.
Really unique and fun experience. The cocktails are amazing.
C. W.
Really quirky, great bar. The staff and theme give it a whoely inviting atmosphere. There's a really good range of tap beers, lagers and ales with specialty cocktails. Plus treat yourself to a vodka ice cream from the vending machine. A real Edinburgh hidden gem of a bar.
T. P.
Ingenious mixture of creative cocktails and the classics. Guys behind the bar were fantastic and all in all is one of the best bars in the city. Couldn't recommend higher for lively people
F. M.
Great selection of cocktails and beers at reasonable prices for Edinburgh. Staff were helpful and recommended several drinks. Atmosphere was a little cramped and stuffy due to the bar being small and busy. Despite this, I would recommend.
R. L.
What a fantastic find.
The drinks were great and the atmosphere is really fun. We particular enjoyed the popcorn served once you take a seat as well as the help selecting drinks and local tips from the staff.
R. P.
First time visit. Had an amazing cocktail
Will be back
M. T.
Two words (or maybe three. Don't blame me, not my first language): boozy ice-cream
J. M.
A peculiar hidden cocktail bar in the same vein as Panda & Sons. ( Indeed the two share the same owners). The menu is an eclectic mix of cocktails and fun adult treats including alcoholic ice cream and slushie margaritas.
The bar seems to be less selective than it ought to be with who it lets in. When we visited there was a table of drunken lads being obnoxious.
D. L.
Fantastic music. Wish we could have stayed longer.
S. C.
Awesome bar which I can't wait to return to! Lots of fab drinks, friendly staff and quirky decor and things to play with, which appeals to the inner child. Just the one cocktail this time but I'll be back for the ice cream and slushies soon. Entry is down a flight of stairs from Hanover Street.
S. B.
Diverse selection of drinks. The ice creams and milkshakes are absolutely worth trying. Overall a funky and unique little bar with a cool subtle retro prohibition era feel.
H. A.
Amazing quirky bar easily missed but the promise of alcoholic icecream made me persevere. So glad i did. Attentive and friendly barstaff cool cocktail although the 'smoky peat' was not my thing. Don't want to give too much away as it sureal. Will defo be back and highly recommend.
B. F.
Great wee bar. Visited on a Sunday night so wasn't packed, but just nicely busy. Really interesting options to try including alcoholic ice cream, slushies and cocktails - looking forward to giving some of them a go. Make sure to bring some old style pound coins if you're a Street Fighter fan.
B. B.
A quirky little bar just off Princes Street. Friendly helpful staff. Good to visit once to see the fun parts of the bar, but won't be returning. Cocktails were standard pricing for city centre but nothing that really stood out.
A. G.
Quirky cocktail bar with a huge selection of cocktails and drinks. They also have lucky dip machines where you pay a pound and pick your cocktail ingredients using the claw. There is also an ice cream machine where all different drinks are mixed with ice cream! It's definitely not somewhere you would go on a regular basis but its a bit of fun if your on a big night out.
T.
I love taking people to Hoot for the first time, a really fun bar with a great atmosphere. Brilliant cocktails at a fair price. I really appreciate the free popcorn as well.
A. H.
Great cocktails and the bar decor was quirky. The claw machine for the flavours was pretty cool as well
D. K.
Hidden little bar with great atmosphere and amazing drinks. Pinch n sip machine was a neat concept for those who can't decide on what to get. They also make great mocktails if you can't / don't drink.
J. G.
Really nice atmosphere and staff! Great cocktails too
C. S.
A very funky bar indeed, it has a real speakeasy feel and there is a very amusing wallpaper in the toilets. I always feel it is expensive, but then it is a cocktail bar and it comes with the territory, they also have boozy ice cream which is fun. Loads and loads of gimmicks is the name of the game but some how it all fits.
D. B.
Excellent cocktail bar, love the decor and fun design. Great location, near Princes Street and not far from bus and train station. Prices a bit on high side though.
E. J.
Great place. Hidden downstairs from the street and not too busy. Table service with huge selection of drinks. Really relaxed atmosphere, great place to go for a few drinks with friends. Decor was really cool.
A. N.
Love the ambience and decor, cocktails good too. Not convinced by the plastic 'glasses' though and staff not all that pleasant. Shame as I'd been here before and loved it so brought some other friends and was quite disappointed
A. W.
Very cool place! Great drinks, service, staff was awesome and very helpful. Really nice people. It's small but very cozy and cool. I will be back!
L. T.
Cool place, comfy seats, nice cocktails. Was about to leave after hearing awful music like Justin Timberlake etc but then all of a sudden Francis Bebey came on and I was ecstatic. More weird/underground/original music please and this place is perfect!
M. G.
Querky little place right in the centre of the city. Good drinks selection reasonably priced . Bar staff were really helpful and friendly table service included was a bonus as the bar was very busy. First time I have been in will definitely be back.
U. M.
Fantastic bar, fabulous cocktails and the most friendly staff! Highly recommend the place if you fancy a naughty sweet treat (especially the grasshopper ice cream!) If you are in Edinburgh, this has to be on your list to visit x
S. N.
Very cool vibe and great cocktails. Slushies and ice cream are an added bonus. Plus Street Fighter II arcade machine! If you don't want to go right now then this isn't the place for you.
K. S.
Magical. Simply magical. The barmen should incredible attention to detail in crafting bespoke one of a kind cocktails to order. The ambience is one of two kinds, the other being 🐼 & Co. I believe. A truly unique experience that I will be sure to cherish.
r. c.
Great place had a great cocktail and was nice a cool after sitting in the sun all afternoon
T. A.
Vibey, friendly atmosphere in a below ground pub. An innovative experience with off the shelf cocktails, boozy icecreams & design your own drink. Friendly & efficient bar staff, good music, interesting knick-knacky decor & bookable tables. The popcorn is delicious too!
D. S.
A real hidden gem in the centre of Edinburgh. Easy to miss, but once inside, a wonderful world of beers and cocktails awaits. Great atmosphere and top service too.
G.
Great cocktail place - beyond the psychic woman on the door! Don’t waste your money on the grabby machine - the bar staff will make you anything with any booze and any flavours so save your money!
A. S.
Good music and cocktails, and the service is great. This would've been a 5 however there were some unruly patrons continually smashing glasses that the staff couldn't deal with, I'd suggest better security to deal with situations like that.
A. C.
Fun, intimate bar which sticks well to its circus theme and has quirky little features around every corner. Great selection of cocktails and chill atmosphere.
A. W.
Nice bar but we were ask to leave our table due to a booking (reservation was not on the table when we sat down). when looking at somewhere else to sit 70-80% of the tables were booked and all other tables had people at them, we left and I won't be back. I would expect tables in a restraunt to be reserved but not in a bar.
J. B.
Very good hidden bar, cool concept, good cocktails, loved the grabber machine idea. Nice friendly staff. Would highly recommend.
M. M.
The alcoholic ice-cream/slushie were the best thing ever. Service was outstanding and really personable
D. H.
Quirky bar, based on tarot reading. We visited on a Saturday evening so the place was heaving. Live DJ. Just a bit loud, to the point where you couldn't actually hear each other.
G. H.
Nice theme and excellent cocktails. Staff friendly, but slow
K. B.
Outstanding! Staff-10 drinks-10 Atmosphere-10 Get yourself down to the best underground cocktail bar in Edinburgh. You won't regret it.
J. W.
Lovely cocktails. The staff were very polite and friendly.
F. S.
Quirky hidden cocktail bar in the city centre. Sells alcoholic ice cream and slush puppies. Good sounds from the DJ. Knowledgeable staff and free popcorn!
M. A.
Excellent bar. Very friendly staff
C. M.
Quirky and fub, the finding of the place was a laugh in itself, drinks are pricy but it's fun as a treat.
M. B.
Good real craft beer selection ie small scale local and a quirky setting. Quite hard spot to spot from on Hanover Street. Easy to walk past but worth a visit if you are in the area.
D. C.
Great cocktails you can't get in other bars, plus street fighter!
E. S.
A sly tattood door just off princess street, simple delicious cocktail menu, good music and vibe..staff are cool the decor is very quirky. Will definately visit again and sample the food! Really good find.
H. A.
If you like to have a drink somewhere that actually has a character then this is the place for you. The range of cocktails is extremely extensive and even if its not on the menu the bartenders could more than likely make it for you.
A. J.
OK. Once you get past the fortune teller you see this cute cosy bar. It's really warm, don't wear a jacket.
If you want a recommendation: Alcoholic Slushy. It's a small serving but d**n is it strong.
S. B.
Great cocktails. Nice vibe but it always smells of floor bleach. Overpowering. I've been twice lately a year apart and both times I've had to walk out
P. R.
Ace wee bar with brilliant staff. Inventive unusual drinks an good selection of regular options. Always try an get in past for a cocktail or two when in Ed. Can't recommend highly enough!
A. D.
The location and entrance was nice, but the bar was too noisy and the menu didn't present many options
C. R.
Cocktails were delicious and unusual. Service excellent. Decor funky. Not overly comfortable thus minus a star.
J. S.
Lovely time in this place but the surroundings weren't exactly for me. Worth popping in out of novelty though. You'll get a nice cocktail.
C. L.
Great drinks, atmosphere and service. Only issue is the copy of 50 shades of gray stuck to the bathroom walls is not in the right order
K. G.
Amazing cocktails, friendly and helpful staff, dog-friendly, and incredibly unique! I love coming here, especially since they have a Street Fighter arcade machine and alcoholic ice cream

Great vibe and service, the signature cocktails on the menu were great but when I ordered a mojito it was average (barely any mint).
J. S.
Excellent cocktail slushies, great decor and vibe. Great for a couple or small group, maybe don't come with a large group of loud friends.
