We were walking across royal mile and were looking for place to sit down and have lunch. So, we somehow choose this bar. I coul say nothing special, sausages were mediocre, the feeling was that I got the same sausages earlier that day on Hotel breakfast buffet. Atmosphere is nice and you get feeling of pub. I would say it's good place to enjoy beer, but food didn't impress much.

Good looking pub a bit away from the extra crowds. Can get crowded but I visited on weekday afternoon. Good service and also gave me a decent beer recommendation. Space looks nice and somewhat rustic. No idea about food choices as I didn't get to try any (yet). Drop by if you want a slightly laid back drink experience.

My husband and I recently were in Edinburgh for a few days and stayed just around the corner from the Kilderkin. The owner was super friendly and quick to offer up suggestions for what we should do while in the city. Food was great. Atmosphere was laid back. We were lucky to catch a bit of the folk jam night which was incredible!! So much talent!! Would love it if the owner could respond with where to find a copy of "the covid song" that a VERY talented woman sang.

Great pub - friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and solid beer selection. Cards are accepted and food offer is interesting and has plenty of options - I tried the broccoli and stilton soup - comforting, hearty and well seasoned. One of our favourites to stop by for a quick pint on Royal Mile!

I had a very pleasant experience here. It was my first time eating in a Scottish pub, and the guy who took my order was nice. He brought me an exceptionally good glass of whiskey and some haggis that I enjoyed as well. My companion had macaroni and cheese and she enjoyed that plate too. It was a fun a experience and I look forward to the next pub I visit.

Nice environment, lovely bar and the pizzas were very tasty. The only downside I could found is that they take quite a lot of time but they taste good!!

Our first attention was just to drink some coffee and warm up. But when we entered the place we couldn’t resist not to order some beer and try their pizzas (they had special offer 2 for 1) which were delicious. The service was very friendly and the ambience was pubish (in a good way) it was very cosy.

Cosy pub on the mile with a warm atmosphere and good vibes. We came for lunch and were greeted upon arrival. My friend ordered the chicken wrap which was really good and I, the haggis, neeps and tarries. This is by far THE BEST I’ve had in Edinburgh. They add mustard to the gravy which really adds that extra flavour.

It's a Vinyl Tap Bar. Lots of record album covers on the wall. 60's and 70's music. Excellent beer selection highlighting local brews. It's the last place on the Royal Mile before you get to Hollyrood Palace. It was dark and I couldn't walk anymore. Our phones had died. We went in and asked if the lovely young bartender would call us a cab to get back to our car. She did. We liked her and the pub so much that we drove back after we got our car. Nice atmosphere. I had the Pentland hills IPA which was delicious and my husband enjoyed the Black Eagle dark IPA. Both local. If I lived near by, this would be my local pub.

We stopped here unplanned due to huge rain. We just wanted a coffee but then took 2 pizzas as there was an special offer, pay 1 get 2. And what a bingo that was! Pizzas are great. Weitresses very kind explained as all we needed to know. And there was a charity quiz that we joined and it was funnn. The prices are fair, the only minus is there is no lager beer but Holyrood pale ale was fine.

Found this quaint place by chance as I needed to rest awhile. But what a delightful and interesting place. The staff are comical as they made me laugh and we had a good natter. Fantastic cocktails on the menu with a difference. Good friendly crowd where everyone is happy to talk to you or let you join them for a weee dram...lol! But really, it was so nice there that we ended up speaking with a younger group who where so nice to us as strangers. We now have new friends and an open invitation back to Scotland...Go figure! Like, I do say, just motivate yourself or grab a friend and explore; By leaving your own space to see something new and do broaden one's horizon. All government guidelines are in place, Good facilities and lots of Good spacing within the building. Lovely comfortable seating. This is in one of the Best Cities in the World; Made to attract new comers. Therefore, you can do this trip and it is affordable. If you or a friend decide to plan it well upon a budget. You shall find that it is doable...Yes, take a leap of Faith and go explore and meet people more interesting than yourself, bless

A very nice pub, with good food and a very good selection of drinks. They always have a special option on the menu that changes regularly, and it is generally something interesting and unusual. Otherwise, it's standard pub fare, but sometimes that's exactly what you need. The interior is gorgeous, with pannelled walls and wooden benches; if you're looking for somewhere with atmosphere, you'd struggle to find better. My only complaint is that the whole place is too dark. This probably won't be an issue for most people, but for me it mires what is, in every other way, my perfect pub.

It's ok, we sat outside which was nice. The staff member serving us had a serious sense of humour failure, he could have been friendlier and more pleasant but, the worst was that we ordered Halloumi fries, we got the most awful pre frozen mozzarella sticks and when we asked why we were told they were Halloumi- they were most definitely NOT. Wine and beer shandy were good, but hey, not much they could mess up there.

Great place for a drink. Was here during their £1 pizza promotion that you get while buying a drink. Though it gets very crowded quickly and while the staff are super nice, they get confused over procedures while I was there over the promotion and the timing. It's still a convenient place to go since its next to the Scottish Parliament and Holyrood Park, so it's a good place to stop after a visit or a hike.

A friendly Edinburgh pub A great little pub with a lively atmosphere. The drinks options aren't the most varied but there's at least something for everyone. The night I went there was a pub quiz on but the section of the pub we were in was really quiet, you couldn't hear any of the noise coming through from the other half of the pub.

One of my favourite pubs in Edinburgh! It's part of a chain of 5 restaurant/pubs that are owned by a local Edinburgh family. You really get that vibe going in. They run an EXCELLENT charity pub quiz on Tuesday nights. Lots of fun, and run by the owner (James) who is a really funny guy. Prices are typical for the area. They do some great promos. 1£ pizzas on Mondays and 2 for 1 pizzas on Tuesdays. Not sure about the other days. Overall, would definitely recommend!

Kilderkin is a great pub with a good selection of drinks and decent food menu. It's a very chilled out atmosphere in there most of the time, often finding people playing music in small groups or playing board games. It does get busy at peak times (rightly so!), but there's usually room to stand somewhere or squeeze in.

Welcoming pub, really nice place to catch up with people as the music is generally not to loud. There is even a curtained off room for bigger social events. Good selection of Drinks and the pizza is amazing Hopefully they have decided to get glass latte cups for their hot cocktails. Last time was given to me with a conductive grip and nearly gave myself a scalding that would landed me in a&e. When I told the guy this he was a bit dismissive. Don't let thos criticism fool you though, this place is my 1st choice on The Royal Mile.

This is what a good pub should be, cosy and welcoming with a serious selection of rums and whiskies with a good selection of beers on tap or in bottle. The staff are happy to talk you through any of the bottles and make a recommendation (or a mean daiquiri). It's a bit out of the way at the foot of the Royal Mile but that means it's never that crowded and you can relax and pass a few hours. With occasional rum & whisky tastings you can learn a lot more about your favoured spirits. What really elevates this pub is the quality of the food menu, a vast range of pizzas at very reasonable prices (including a £1 pizza night on a Monday), burgers and occasional specials.

Oh my gosh!!! I am still sitting at the table finishing the most amazing food. It's so good I have to share it right now! Wait, I just need one more bite of the richest, cheesiest mac and cheese ever. Ok, so this pub is just a block away from the Holyrood Palace has amazing food and is still, really reasonably priced. We started with Haggis bites and the soup of the day, spicy lentil and tomato. First, let's tackle haggis. If we taked about what was in a hot dog, we'd stop eating them too. So let's just stop talking about what's in haggis. It's delicious with rich, heavy flavors and lightly breaded an fried here. It comes with a horseradish mayo that lightens it up perfectly. The soup was really well balanced, spicy but not to hot, filling with a fresh baked roll and Scottish butter. Mmmmm. We tried the brie, tomato, avocado bloomer. It was kind of like an egg salad sandwich on fresh bread. Of course the brie and tomato, amazing, and much better than egg salad. The red pesto mayo puts this light dish over the top. Bangers and mash we're served with an incredible smoked bacon gravy and great mash that stood solidly under the three savory sausages. Oh yeah and the mac and cheese!!! Buttery, cheesy with blends of cheddar and maybe Roquefort??? Scottish dairy is great and it hits it's apex in this dish. All sloshed down with some local brews. Perfect lunch in Scotland, heck it would have been perfect anywhere.

Kilderkin is sort of an institution. From the outside you might be expecting your regular "man's pub" but this bar off the royal mile has a lot more to offer. Staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable and the bar is equipped with tons of good rum. There's always a special rum cocktail on the board so you can try different approaches than your usual "rum and coke". There's a rum club that meets here every so often, the kilderkin has a wee sister bar in the other side of town (Windsor) that is equally friendly and rum filled!
