Students delight!!! And a perfect place for any age young or old! The menu is fabulous with such variety! Wheelchair access. Steaks (Mon & Tues £5...yes £5 ONLY!!!!) burgers, chicken wings, vegetarian meals, desserts (loads of them) Bar selection is very good!! Loads of choice... Have a look at the menu section.

Great place if you want to watch soccer have a drink or just want to have a pub is modern interior. The staff was very friendly and i felt welcome. The drinks were good too and the price of latte and cappuccino a bit below the average price which was also good to see. I also liked the style with the flags for the euro 2021 matches. Only thing which needed to be improved was that the table was not cleaned where I was. I can understand it because it seemed to be a busy day for the staff. I could not download the app because i have a German phone. The staff still helped me to make my order and was friendly in every way. I can recommend this place to everyone and i will definitely come back again. See you soon

Quite disappointed. I tried to claim the student discount but was told I needed a membership card which they couldn't let me sign up for. This was not mentioned on the advert. Most of the menu was out of stock. I want to stress the food we did end up choosing was tasty, well presented and good and the staff were really friendly. However the lack of stock is quite poor.

Been in a few times now and always had a brilliant time there. Staff have always been friendly and can get a good bit of banter with them at times. Drinks have been clean and crisp (can tell when you get a place that knows how to take care of the beer lines properly) and the food has been tasty and great value. The manager has always been very accommodating for when there is a group of us in, ensuring that we have had the best time possible. Bonus of the place is that it has tons of tvs with nearly any sport available, ideal for a football fanatic like myself. All in all great atmosphere and will definitely be back.

I went here for a family dinner. The seats and comfy, especially the booths. We were all really impressed with the range of food on the menu and the very reasonable prices. They also have quite a few vegan options, my favourite being the Mushroom and Ale pie. They also have a great children's menu. It is a sports pub with big screen TVs and can get quite busy if there's a match on so best to check if you're going for a quiet meal.

Sometimes the service is good sometimes you're made to feel like you're bothering them by being there and asking a question. On this day there was a brunette boy and blonde girl working. The girl was super lovely and the boy was a bit moody with everyone. Good place to stop for 1 drink on the way to another place but I wouldn't stay.

Nice average pub for a drink and a bite to eat. Arrived here with our two kiddies without booking mid August at the height of English go to Scotland holiday season. The guy and girl that were on duty were fantastic, really helpful and cheery, a true credit to Greene King. Yes they didn't have some stuff on the menu but hey, were just out of eu, Brexit etc, people need to understand that. The prices were great and the food above average. The drinks were VERY reasonably priced. Well done McCowans Brewhouse for giving us an alternative to all the other (but serve the same thing) in Edinburgh. We went to Mccowans on our first night of our trip. The guy that served us was friendly and helpful. We then booked for the Saturday, the food was lovely and very good value. We would definitely recommend Mccowans, the staff make you feel welcome and the food and service is brilliant. Thankyou to all for making our trip from Northwales a memorable one. What a fantastic experience in the current situation. All staff were wearing masks and some also gloves. Tables were well spaced and clean and a one way system was in operation (if people would pay attention!). The food was amazing and well worth the wait we had (extremely busy). Good honest grub, and a lively atmosphere. Large portions at great prices, and the steaks are well cooked. Similar to other pub meals (i.e. pay at the bar when you order), so remember to have your table number with you, and have a backup dish just in case they have sold out of your particular meal. They also have a variety of 'eating challenges' if you feel up for it!

The food is terrible, tastes like it’s just come out of the microwave/ freezer and the prices aren’t low enough to justify that. So I don’t know why I’ve spent more time in this bar than any other. A fairly unspectacular pub in a convenient location for the cinema and bowling alley etc. Usually no problem getting a seat and served quickly at the bar and there is a standard pub grub menu for a quick bite. Try and bag the comfy sofas or seats up the back rather than tables right next to the bar. There is also a sort of function suite/bar area upstairs which I've rarely seen in use and have seen open only once - assume it can be booked out.

Great pub and would be a potential 5/5 but please address the issue of "Private Function Sign" always at access point to both sets of stairs to top level. It is rarely private functions but people who have randomly booked tables or is empty so is misleading. My girlfriend and friends have been in 5 times over 6 week period can't get seats downstairs and upstairs is empty with reservations signs on all the tables. This is very frustrating for people who want to have dinner especially at the weekend or Thursday/Fridays at Dinner time. The top level is a fabulous asset and great place to sit so please keep open at busy periods or even fixed times (ie between 5pm & 8pm weekdays and weekends) and don't have the private function sign always at the bottom of the stairs - It's sooooo very annoying! :-(

Got the 32 ouch butterflied ribeye, only cost £19.99. Was very sceptical about the quality given the awesome price, but this was proven to be for no reason. The quality of the meat was absolutely fantastic - I will most defintly be back given the quality and the low prices.
