Popped in on Sunday afternoon for a few pints with the good lady. Conveniently near the centre of town and five minutes from where we were staying. Nice atmosphere, and a lovely pub too. Drinks prices were ultra cheap and bar staff were probably the friendliest I'd met in Edinburgh. I'd definitely return to this pub, but personally can't stand Edinburgh (way overrated IMO). Belhaven at £2.50 a pint tasted good. So all in all cheap, decent pints and convenient.

Must be the cheapest pub in Edinburgh, 3 and a half pints for £11. Had a couple of good afternoons in there, barman was friendly, decors bit dated but who cares at these prices.

I'm giving this place 4 stars for the friendly staff and cheap booze. And I mean cheap. Two pints of Coors for £3.60 in the town centre. I asked if it was happy hour and was told that was the price all the time. A guy had a dog in with him so I'm guessing it's a pet friendly environment too which you don't a lot of these days.

Great bar with a great atmosphere. The bar staff & management team bring a new definition to the phrase "The A Team" everyone works alongside each other very well and they are always smiling! The door staff are helpful, friendly and approachable and are always willing to have a laugh and chat with customers too! The drinks are a great price with fast service, alongside pool tables and sports to show as entertainment. You can definitely see a massive improvement from a year ago, it's a totally different place now and I can guarantee I will be back!

Gotta love shandwicks , it's cheap and local to city center. Definitely my go to place after work for a few good pints and a black aftershock (or ten) Love the banter from both staff and the regulars :) All the staff are friendly and helpful and will always go out there way to help anyway they can :) yes there are parts of the building that could do with being done up , but sadly they can't do too much as it's a listed building. But who goes to the pub to look at the building? As long as the beers are cold and atmosphere is good you are bound to have fun and enjoy yourself! Due to covid19, there's no pool or loud music and if it's busy you might need to wait to grab a table. 3 hour max stay ATM also... But if you've never been,I would totally recommend going in for a pint or a nip. Great drink promos on also! :)

1st time here, the atmosphere was great and great prices, however the toilets had no locks on most doors, graffiti everywhere over the inside of the toilet doors, and were really really dirty. These toilets need a good deep clean, left straight after.

The prices in this pub are unbelievable. Just off Prince Street. A pint off cider was only £1.75. Staff were friendly, When you think in Rose Street £10,is lucky to get you two drinks. Cider is not the only thing that are that price, there is quite a few known brands on the same list. This is not a promotion it's the price list.

Came in here on Sunday with my husband and kids. At first we were a bit put off by the more mature crowd, however the manager and waitress were so accommodating and friendly we decided to stay. The food was reasonably priced and the kids enjoyed themselves which is the main thing when out with the wee ones. Next time we're in the capital we'll definitely be back 😊

If you're getting worn out having to always pay so much up the hill, Shandwick's offers a more down to earth hangout to unwind without worrying about breaking the bank. Perfect warm up bar before an evening out. Tvs for sports, 2 pool tables, plenty of sitting, and honestly, £1.80 pints that taste just fine. Attracts a younger crowd in the evenings.

Cheap drink for a city centre location, and the bar area is adequate - but the gents toilets are an absolute bomb site. One stall flooded and with a broken toilet, one stall with no seat, and the one stall that was just about functional (if you hovered) had no lock. Truly awful. Raise your prices and spend some money on the place.

Rangers,Celtic Derby fantastic. However the Programmed F1 was not delivered between Derby and Liverpool matches. They could have presented the first 20 laps prior to Liverpool vs Wolves game for better entertainment. Prices and clientele are great and I would definitely revisit. Prices are unbelievable with a pint costing £1.75 the staff are amazing too.

This is a cheap pub for lager drinkers just off Princess Street, there's nothing massively wrong with the place but it's certainly not a classy establishment. The toilets are in the cellar and are truely awful ,as you can imagine for a pub that sells loads of cheap lager. I would be willing to go back but there's not a lot to offer for beer drinkers.

I really like this pub but my recent experience was outraging. The bartender on last sunday night didn't accept mine and my friends National ID card, which is a valid official document from an EU/EEA country. He insisted that we show passports, which was not on hand for one of my friends (we are all 18+ ofc), therefore we didnt get served. We decided that we will at least wait for our other friend to arrive, then move on, but then shortly after we left the counter the same bartender approached us that we have to leave. We were very disappointed.

Reasonable prices, bar area in need of some maintenance... Overall comfy and surface clean but the toilets looks like the cleaner completely missed them after the Saturday night or at least missed the men's completely. You could tell at one point someone's spent money on it, but no one has maintained it to that level afterwards.. Shame really let's it down.. It comes up on the gay bars in local areas search which would be nice for this end of town but I wasn't seeing any signs of gay clientel or atmosphere either

Went to Edinburgh on the Saturday that Scotland were playing Australia at rugby, trying to get in anywhere for food and a drink with children was almost impossible......step up Shankwicks......good food, reasonable prices huge screen and you've got a great family pub. During the day, myself and friends visited Shandwick's for lunch, we were treated nicely by the staff and the food was decent. However, that night, we returned to Shandwick's to be 'greeted' by rude and cantankerous bouncers who decided to refuse us entry for no valid reason whatsoever, none of us were drunk, rude or loud, yet were weren't allowed in which spoiled our experience of Shanwick's. :(
