Our first restaurant in Edinburgh and it did not fail! The nachos were so good! I took The Scotsman burger with Haggis and was not disappointed at all! We also loved the vibe in this restaurant and our server was super nice!

The Haggis Bon-Bons is my favourite, well fried haggis balls and the wise choice of honey mustard in the dish made them even more outstanding. Nachos came in a big portion with fine toppings at a really good price. We also had the Old Blue beef burger, the patty itself was not juicy enough, it’s the accompaniment, particularly the caramelised onion jam, which made it delicious. A good selection of beers available, and we had a sweet cider and non-alcoholic dark ale - both were great and refreshing.

Great burgers, friendly staff who are a good laugh and a good range of beers. I noticed recently they’ve started doing specials and cocktails too. The Black Fox is dog friendly and in fact the staff will welcome and adore your pup when they join you. There’s a pub quiz on a Sunday and usually films showing (on mute) in the bar. It’s a nice spot for a quick lunch drink or to spend the evening.

Fun, friendly place. Bartenders are helpful and a flight of 3 whiskies is only £12. There's a couple two person window seats if you're lucky.

The staff are very friendly, great selection of drinks and even better food! The tables are decently distanced, which adds to the relaxed atmosphere. My only gripe would be the lack of a cigg bin outside. This results in a blanket of them on the pavement outside, littered by punters & staff, reflecting quite poorly on the area.

This was the only pub out of around 12 thay we visited in Edinburgh where you really want to come back to: it has nice, rather spacious interior (though looks a bit off from the outside), good food and actually tasty drinks and most importantly genuinely friendly staff. Got in early on New Years Eve (First customers). Atmosphere: Good lightning, Staff were amazingly accommodating and friendly, service attention was impeccable, also able to see the chefs at work with an open kitchen plan...It's amazing the food they produce in such a small space! Drinks: Unique cocktail selection (primarily gin/whisky) - a bit on the sweet side so I'd recommend ordering a double shot, great selection of draught beers, coffee was decent as well. Food: Starters were amazing - freshly made and great flavours, the haggis bon bons were our favourite of the 3 different places that we tried them at. Primarily hotdog, burgers & pizza main menu - again solid flavour combinations, what you want from a pub menu. They were cooked well and fresh. Sweet potato fries were a nice touch. One negative amongst all the food we had was the coleslaw which was a bit too heavy on the mayo which overpowered the flavour. Overall impression: Highly recommended, would visit again, especially during lunch time. Best dishes: Spiced chicken wings, haggis bon bons, halloumi fritters.

Overall I'd say this place was ok. Atmosphere: It's a great atmosphere and decor inside and probably a good bar with a selection of craft beers. Service: I think our waitress couldn't have cared less if we were there or not. Food: The old reekie burger itself was really nice, even if it came with the tomato I asked not to have. The coleslaw was more mayo than cabbage, and I would have eaten the mixed pepper salad if there had been some sort of vinegrette/sauce, which there wasn't. I liked the fries Cajun seasoning, but it was a bit much after a while. Again as said, it was alright food and good for a pint.

Last night was our first night in the city and we picked the Black Fox based on it's awesome reviews and creative menu. I got the salad with pesto chicken and a Outaspace Apple Ale. My husband got the Scotty Dog and the Innis & Gunn lager. The movie Rear Window was on the TV and we had a nicely situated table by the window. Our server was amazing and the food and beers were wonderful. We hope to visit again when we're back in the city!

Went here as a final Hoorah with my flatmate before I left, disappointed I didn't find it sooner! Food was accommodating to this vegan and the server was really welcoming to us both. I had the Falafel burger and was ready to consume when a friend called me and took 18 MINUTES to tell me about his crypto currency failings. And so there I sat, undoing the tapestry of such a alluring burger, like dismantling the tessellation of a puzzle piece by piece as its majesty is slowly broken, don't do crypto kids. But the food and drinks were awesome too! Had a few different mock tails and they were great, really enjoyed the infusions. Great for a good group of people or to meet people, deffo worth a stop when you can, good price for good food and drink, looking forward to my next visit upon my return - thanks for a great farewell to Edinburgh!

Just outside the main city centre, great little pub that puts out good food out of a tiny kitchen. The loaded fries went down well. Great cocktails, especially the 'Gin Serves' the Pickering one was delicious. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Amazing place. We were well looked after despite the covid-19 regulations. We had two super friendly hosts who had a good laugh with us, even after we tried to order something they had just informed us they don't have 3 times (Sorry!) Lovely staff were very welcoming and helpful in finding a table for us to eat at on a busy Friday night just before the kitchen closed. The food was delicious...exactly what was needed at the end of a very long day. The bar staff also very kindly made up some tasty margaritas which were the perfect pudding. A diamond in the rough - loved it! Was up on business and stumbled in after what seemed like 'meh' bar after bar, but this blew me away. Great rustic feel, amazing selection of beers, attentive staff, best burger I've had in ages (I had the haggis burger) and great atmosphere. Really good burgers and haggis bon bons. The chips were meant to be cajun spiced but could have done with a bit more spice, but were fine. The service was a little bit slow to begin with but this was down to it being busy, and once the waiter noticed us he was extremely observant, prompt and friendly. Really good oreo cheesecake for dessert. It would have been nice to have a bit wider choice of dessert, but the kitchen is absolutely tiny so I can understand this. Overall a really good trip for lunch here.

Noticed this new place while going past on the bus so decided to grab the boyfriend and check it out. I liked it. Simple, unpretentious space. I like that the kitchen was technically at the back of the room but open so you could see what was going on. Super simple menu. Burgers and Pizza, and it seems they make both very very well. Stopped in here on our way back into Edinburgh from Leith, looking for nothing more than a warm welcome and a quick drink or two. We were greeted with both, and the place quickly filled up as the working day wound down. A good and interesting selection of beers which I can personally recommend and the gin selection was equally tested (and tasted) to the full by my companion. Although we didn't eat, the food looked good coming out of the small open kitchen, and plenty of people were eating.

It's hard to rate this place, as it really depends what you're after. If you want to go for a drink, it's a very nice place with a good atmosphere and fairly cheap booze (spirit+mixer less than £3). But if it's food you're after, then the posh and expensive grub served up here doesn't match the surroundings, or the area. And if you're wanting a pot of tea, be warned - they charge £5 (!) for it. Must be brewed in unicorn tears or something.

One of my favourite gastrobars in the Leith-y area. Staff are consistently nice to exchange with, food is prompt and delicious and the bar makes some mean cocktails. Halloumi fries and a Voodoo Hoodoo - complete with flaming high proof rum in some hollowed-out fruit - are, colloquially, hella banging.

I regularly patrol the local area serving cappuccinos and food to the homeless sometimes I need the toilet , there are several businesses on leith walk who refuse use of toilets to members of the public stating customers only , but the staff at black fox have always permitted me to use their services which given the inhumane policy of some businesses on the walk , warrants 5 stars for black fox for being human and kind.

When we were served we found a good burger accompanied by salad, and potatoes, all for about £ 10. Very good and you will leave full. Warning: the potatoes are delicious, but they contain spicy spices, if you don't like them I recommend asking the waitress not to put it spicy. They also have a good assortment of alcohol, we ordered a couple of cocktails, they were very tasty. Highly recommended. (Original) antes de irme de Edimburgo quería visitarlo y no me ha decepcionado. la carta es en su mayoría hamburgesas, Frankfurt y alitas, en nuestro caso fuimos a por las hamburguesas. Cuando nos sirvieron nos encontramos con una buena hamburguesa acompañada por ensalada, y patatas, todo por unas 10£. Muy bueno y saldras lleno. Alerta: las patatas son deliciosas, pero contienen especias picantes, si no os gusta recomiendo pedirle a la camarera que no lo ponga picante. ademas tienen un buen surtido de alcohol, pedimos un par de cocteles estaban muy ricos.
