Reviews of The Last Drop

This places is always a good one to enjoy a wonderful evening. Great food and a beautiful places with an awesome history. It's a bit expensive but apart from that, it's always a good recommendation.
C. L.
Lovely, bustling old fashioned pub with friendly staff. I had a pint of Stewart's Jack Back which was excellent. My wife had a Mortimer's Orchard Cider, which she loved. Beers are around £5 a pint.
We didn't eat, but the food looked good. Lots of people were ordering the burgers.
J. S.
The bartender was very friendly, the beer list was a little limited compared to other nicholsons.
The inside of the pub is rather small, the menu is very limited compared to most nicholsons.
The bathroom is very small you almost have to sit on the toilet to even close the door.
The soup I got was scotch broth, it came out hot, but was disappointing.
I got the cider on tap, and a 10 year scotch whisky which were both good. I'd rather go to other pubs than this one, given the limited food menu
B. L.
Cool pub with a nice atmosphere and good food! They were out of half the menu when we showed up at 6:30pm. I would have liked to try the Stovies but my wife had the chicken and haggis. I had a burger. Both were great!
J.
Interesting historical pub. Food was good, but the menu was limited. Could do with a wider choice of ales.
R. S.
We ended up there as we were looking to have something traditional and older restaurant in grassmarket. It was a good choice in that regard as this place is old and do give a historical vibe. They offer really good beer options .
Food wise there is nothing much for a vegetarian person only one or two dishes.

In a beautiful place full of history, one of the best "Haggis, Neeps & Tatties with wisky cream" you can eat in Edinburgh.
The "Scottish Cranachan" is also fabulous!
To try.
J. B.
Reminds me of old days. Lovely Tennets, Peroni beer. Good food. Friendly staff, good for chat. Busy from 7pm, if you want some food with sitting in, I recommend to come a bit earlier.
J. R.
Stopped in for a pint at lunch this week. The staff and service were good. The place was clean and the decor was nice with lots of curios to look at. The food choices also looked great. I feel sad that I didn’t make it back for the food! Definitely worth a visit.

Close to the Castle. Lovely warm atmosphere. Soup and delicious bread and chips warmed the freezing hands! Lovely management. Kind and caring. Thank you for finding the changing table for our two year old.

Excellent service 👏, warm welcome and friendly service. Highly recommended 👌..

Full of history though £16 for two glasses of wine was a shock.
R. R.
I tried haggis here for the first time and enjoyed it whole heartedly.

Fun pub for a late night drink. Good classic pub beers, gins and wines. It had a very lovely and friendly atmosphere and we had the best time making new friends
R. D.
Staff were very attentive and friendly! Great place for some lunch and drinks! Would highly recommend and will be back!
W. D.
Great bar, speedy service with a strong selection of alcohol! Visited as part of a stag party and they were incredibly welcoming and polite.

Really great place, had a great experience at this pub. Dog friendly and had live music on. Exceptional service and delicious food, will definitely be going back soon.
J. R.
Didn't go in the pub but sat on the terrace area out the front. Gorgeous views of the Grassmarket and quick service via the QR code.

The service here is amazing. There are 2 different sections, one where you order at the bar and one where you have table service. The young gentleman that served us was so kind and very friendly to us. The food was also great. They have an amazing selection of classic Scottish classics and other standard pub menu items. The food came in pretty big servings so come hungry. The Haggis, neeps, and tatties were so good! So was the stew.
T. w. I.
Great Atmosphere in a location like in the 30s. I felt well and the beer is delicious. Within the grassmarket you need to visit the Last Drop and grab a beer. The furniture is also awesome and everything is familiar. I will visit this place definitely a second and third time:)

Excellent service 👏, warm welcome and friendly service. Highly recommended 👌..

Came in for lunch and beers with friends. The food was amazing! I had the macaroni and cheese and it's honestly possibly the best Mac and Cheese I've ever had. Others had the sausage and mash and a steak. Everyone was happy! Great server too!
K. T.
It is a lovely pub and most staff are nice. During the pandemic they have a booking system in place and limited availability. We were lucky to just walk in and were told we could have the table till 7. We said no problem. At 6:45 we started getting harassment to leave. The servers were very abrupt in getting us to leave. We said we just wanted to quickly finish our drinks. It is what it is. Just remember to book if you are visiting!
E. W.
We went here for our lunch on a day out to Edinburgh. I would highly recommend it. I'm no food expert but everything seemed very high quality for local suppliers and my partner said they were farm fresh eggs. The food tasted and look amazing. The prices were average for Edinburgh. it's also a good place to go if you're into your gruesome history or ghosts as the pup is next to the place where they used to hang people and is allegedly haunted by a small girl.
o.
The place is nice, it has a mysterious vibe to it in my opinion, which is fantastic. Tipical scottish pub. Food was delicious, very tasty haggis! And the sticky pudding is divine. Quick and friendly service, affordable prices.
G. N.
Lovely little corner of Edinburgh if you want something traditional. We stopped for dinner and drinks on a cold wet evening and were delighted. We ordered 4 starters as our meal and they were all fantastic. Haggis tower, salmon, veggie soup and Mac n cheese. The Mac n cheese was particularly amazing! Highly recommend for some good traditional food.
A. H.
Good pub, however due to the location, it's very touristy. This isn't a problem per se, but it does mean their drinks selection is accordingly orientated... Don't come here of you're looking for a great scotch selection. Food selection is however great!
K. L. o. S.
This pub is located where once used to be one of the main gallows of Edinburgh.and the owner makes sure that the visitors will see it. I think it is a very cool idea, suits perfectly Edinburgh dark past. The haggis was the best I have ate in my life and the beer is exelant. The staff and the service were kind and care. I think this pub is a must in attraction in Edinburgh.it near to the center on Grassmarket.
You can seat inside the pub or outside. I am strongly recommend to visit this pub at last once while you are in Edinburgh.
M. M.
It will take you only 7 minutes from the castle.
The food was good enough and the atmosphere was great with a wide variety of beers.
64 pounds for1 haggis (starter), 2 beers, 1 coke, 2 cheeseburgers, 1 salad and 1 sandwich.
J. E. D.
Great food, great beer list, affordable whisky list compared to other establishments. I was a brave Canadian & had the Haggis, Neeps & Taties (turnips & mashed potatoes)...glad I did as it was yummy. Great atmosphere so we keep coming back when we are in Edinburgh. Very authentic & avoids being a tourist trap.
H. S.
The first pub that i have visited in edinburgh was the last drop. Taste of chicken burger was so nice but it was not well organised …. I had to eat this in parts 😁 that’s why giving 4 stars …. Beer was so good. Overall, nice place to sit with your friends 🙌
J.
The haggis here tasted quite good with savory flavors, and the texture was slightly crumbly and slimy. The Mac and cheese had a baked crust of cheese on top and tasted fantastic, very creamy and had a good mixture of cheeses. The interior had plenty of seating and the waiters were friendly and helpful. The whisky selection was rather limited which was disappointing. Prices were fair for what was offered.
I. M.
Great pub fantastic atmosphere and wonderful food
A. P.
We had a lovely meal in a lovely place and we will be back.
P. T.
Nice with an interesting story. I liked the selection of scottish dishes as I really wanted to try something like that on our trip. Food was good.
T. M. P.
This pub is located in the heart of Edinburgh and has a great atmosphere. They do tasty food and staff was nice and helpful. Apparently the place is haunted by a ghost (so the stories hanging on the wall said) but everything seemed normal! Good value for money. Tasty haggis which they have as a starter option, perfect option for who is afraid of trying it!
D. H.
'Drop' meaning hangman's noose. The history of the place is fascinating. Nice place to sit for a while, drinking and putting the world to rights.
S. W.
This is one of my favorite pubs in the Grass Market area, on a row of pub after pub. Its name comes from the fact that (allegedly, anyway) criminals up for execution were allowed to duck into the pub for one last drink before public hanging.
Great food, plenty of tables, cozy space, morbidly fascinating memorabilia and art (including a couple old nooses!), and very reasonably priced whisky flights.
c. d.
Nice, lively place, friendly staff. Not too noisy, so good place if you want to chat with a fine pint in your hand
C. W.
This is a lovely wee cosy pub situated in the heart of grassmarket. The staff were friendly, and the service was great. It's a lovely atmosphere.
K. B.
Came up to to Scotland with my youngest daughter as she always wanted to visit called in to your pub the food was brilliant the staff very friendly and helpfull will be coming back with my partner and two other daughters all the best from kev pat chloe Sonia Jackie xxx
S. T.
Great pub, excellent authentic Scottish for and service, with a will thought out drinks list. Highly recommended dropping down from the Royal Mile to check it out if you're doing your tourist thing around the Old Town and want a bite! Reasonably priced too.
J. L.
Nice pub, great old school pub vibe. Good drinks offering, not as crazy as a few of the other haunts on grassmarket.
H. A.
Perfectly acceptable lunch stop for middle-of-the-road pub-grub located in the vibrant Grass market area of Edinburgh.
The beer selection isn't likely to knock the socks off craft beer afficionados, but it's passable. For those who enjoy a good whack of haggis on occasion, they serve a decent one and, just as advertised, it goes great with the Fraoch Heather Ale.
Good amount of seating both indoors and, weather permitting, outdoors.
b. s.
I've been here many times. Good friendly and polite staff. Was sort of quite when I went. It can get packed and very busy. Do lovely food
S. N.
Last drop ultimate burger is the burger you need if you are really hungry. Portions are huge and burgers are tasty. Not dry but cooked well. Opt for the sweet potato fry but their triple cooked fries are too good to resist! Good service and free wifi 😁
R. B.
Friendly staff, reasonable prices, i had the ultimate burger with fries, the size was ok but the burger which turned out a little bit dry in my taste as burger lover. The Cider was excellent and I would recommend to taste it!
d. c.
Stopped in for bite to eat great wee place very cosy nice atmosphere, lovely food and great service
S. S.
Authentic Scottish pub. Yes, Haggis is served and actually quite tasty. Don’t forget the beer! Plus, the staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is great.
J. m.
Historic pub in a lovely part of Edinburgh. The haggis meal we all had really hit the spot.
S. F.
Delicious food and good beer. Place with great atmosphere 😊
S. M.
One of the many Nicholson's pubs, in old town Edinburgh. We got pints of Scottish beer and some food. The beer was very nice and the food was OK (fries were great actually) . My only disappointment was that they would not cook my burger medium and said they could only serve it well cooked. I seem to understand that it's a general thing (not specific to the place) , so just be aware of that. Otherwise, normal pub atmosphere
M. H.
Nice pub, did not eat but menu looked quite extensive!
S. N.
Really nice pub, friendly staff, great food (picture of their balmoral chicken with whiskey sauce below) and really reasonable prices. If you are in Edinburgh and look for a good Scottish lunch, this is the place to go
C. T.
Cute pub and nice atmosphere. Food is good (came out missing items) but nothing memorable...staff weren't overly friendly which was the biggest disappointment.
R. S.
The hot mulled cider was fairly good if only I could of added a little bit of cinnamon to it! It was self seating which required my party to split up but staff was nice and the food was good (for pub food) so I have no complaints!
I. F.
Cosy little pub along Grassmarket. Quintessentially Scottish. A popular one amongst locals and tourists. Nice atmosphere. A interesting history hence the name of the pub.
S. E.
Really good to sit outside and watch the folk go by...Good food too
J.
You go there for the history of the place rather than the quality of the drink and, sit down, have a pint to say discuss what must have gone through the prisoners heads when they were sat having their last pint before being hung in the basement and move on.
S. F.
Great beers, and great staff. Nice surrounding area as well
F. J. M. B.
Good food and drinks. Guillermo was very helpful and polite. The ultimate hamburger is perfect!!!
B. D. S.
Nice food in a suggestive place, friendly staff, good prices.
M. C.
Friendly efficient service. Decent food. They were out of sticky toffee so i discovered crannachan. Lovely.
K. P.
Nice and friendly staff, very helpful and beautiful pub!
F. F.
Cozy little pub .. haggis was delicious 😋
J. R.
Lovely pub, nice staff. Loved the history!
Accessibility:
Flat so quite wheelchair accessible. Don't think there was a disabled toilet but the ladies had no step but 2 doors very close together so may need help getting through with a wheelchair to the ladies.
A. L.
very enjoyable meal, very tasty with a good selection of beer. Staff were brilliant as it was the football Euro final and allowed us to sit near TV and when the game ran on allowed all its customers to stay to the end despite they could not serve anymore drinks etc due to the cover rules. Excellent service, I would recommend a visit.
H. J. K.
Good good. Not too expensive. Nice pub. Scotish good.
S. B.
Very comfortable in a gorgeous setting. Service was top notch and the food delicious
A. T.
Lovely pub, lots of history on the walls, lovely staff, very professional and efficient. Good food and nice beer. Can't ask for more!
A. P.
Found this great little place in a super location that is steeped in tradition whilst exploring Edinburgh ’Old Town’. Can certainly recommend the Haggis, Neeps and Tatties with Whisky Sauce for not too much money.
K. O. -. A.
Another great pub. Simple drinks and some history. I love Edinburgh! The Last Drop Tavern is located on Grassmarket Street in Edinburgh, it used to be the location of the main gallows in the city where people would flock to see public executions. This tavern is where prisoners would get their 'last drink' prior to hanging, right over there ....>
I. V.
Vibrant historical spot to try haggis or a good cider. Find your own table as no system for seating-so, just do it.
J. x.
Couple of drinks, lots of people in bar
K. G.
Service is good . There is a combo option for trying Scottish whiskey for tourist. I tried a famous dish called haggis. Nothing great in taste for Asians . Overall good pub
A. M.
Very nice pub to visit with interesting story around the name. I've only drank there, so unfortunately can't comment on the food. From what I can see other people getting it looked good.
F. W.
I love this watering hole. Sally is my favourite! She’s so welcoming and warm. Lovely to see all the staff here working hard and smiling large! You’ll be seeing me again.
PS: Sally, you’re great!
C. G.
The staff were friendly and accommodating for the size of party I arrived with
C. M.
Food wasn't great but the place is lovely for a drink
M. C.
Lovely atmosphere and interior.
Came to tried haggis which was delicious.
Highly recommended
H. L. T.
Great service.
Luckily, I didn’t wait for long time. The cute waitress recommended me a special Scottish dessert : CRANACHAN, made with cream, berry, honey and whiskey .
Though that dessert was not my favor, but it’s a good memory for me at that night.
U. P.
Good enough hotel , great location. Good breakfast
J. S.
Great pub & atmosphere staff friendly Great location.
N. M.
Good old school pub, and yes last stop before catching train home.
L. K. L.
Super cosy pub, and nice warm atmosphere. Fine service and good food.
K. S.
Great Scottish food and drinks! A bit off the beaten path so there are less tourists. It is also historical for being in the same area where people were hung.
C. R.
We came in here on a whim after doing some exploring around Grassmarket and feeling quite hungry. I was particularly drawn in by the history of the pub as advertised on its door and on its website and inside the decor and information surrounding the grisly bits of Lawnmarket and Edinburgh is fascinating. However, I will say the food was very pricey for the quality we received, nothing to me tasted or looked really fresh or high quality, and I don't think if I were to come back I would eat here again.
V. P.
Very cool pub with lots of history, character and a large selection of local drinks!
A. J.
Had a great lunch with a great beer, good prices and service on a busy festival day - would highly recommend - can't wait to return to one of our favourite pubs in Edinburgh 😀 the staff were great even after my wife spilled her vodka soda all o er the bar 🤣 fantastic bar 😀🍺👍
B. G.
Appreciated the spacious outdoor seating! Lovely setting. Food was good. We had a few communication issues with staff but everything was resolved in the end.
Would have loved to have read about the history but I think all the info was inside. Maybe it could be printed on the menu?
This bar would be a great candidate for a app or online ordering, as the staff had a bit of ground to cover with customers inside, and outside in two different areas.
Would return, cheers
A. A.
Good food and nice pub atmosphere.
D. M.
Traditional pub, friendly staff and good selection of draught beers.
S. F.
Great little public house.
C. R.

Very tasty desserts, good whiskey but pricy
J. R.
Had a drink here with my partner last Tuesday 17th August. We were outside very pleasant. Good beer. Not tried the food yet.
G. H.
Edinburgh has loads of interesting sites to see, underground slum dwellings.
Really good tour of the royal mile. Shame we didn't get to tour the castle but it's now on the list for future travels.
M. A. W.
Perfectly acceptable food.
S. A.
With a plethora of options to choose from, you can't go wrong with this cozy eating establishment. Perfectly situated for historical significance, offering tasty meals. Not to mention there is a resident poltergeist!
F. W.
The most lovely pub in Edinburgh ! Merci 😉
M. B.
The Last Drop was our lucky Kast Chance at getting a table for drinks on a busy Saturday evening...
unknown to us we had to book and after feeling like Mary and Joseph being turned away from the Inn , managed to get the table and served pleasantly by smart attentive staff ..
totally recommend.. as I've done on as many occasions as possible
D. B.
Nice place, unique little pub serves nice food & drinks.
R. A.
Amazing food and service, we could see that they were a little busy, but they still had time to tell us about the beers about the regional spectre.
Was really feeling welcome.
f.
Very tasty desserts, good whiskey but pricy
P. E.
Liked this old pub very much. Ok food, good value and very good service. Very atmospheric.
R. F.
Great range of local guest ales. Food was well presented and tasted great. Haggis and Balmoral chicken hit the spot. And my wife's vegetarian option, cauliflower and Vege burger got a big thumbs up!
Interesting spot in Edinburgh with a bit of history behind the pubs name.
A must go to for proper ales, good atmosphere and good food.
K.
Live music, extremely nice staff and good food
K. B.
Lovely environment with lots of history. The food was delicious too. Serves a few craft beers
G. H.

The Last Drop popped in here for a drink when jazz festival was on great service good range drinks food was fine. its a busy little pub on grassmarket trendy little drinking hole. Always like to add pictures of location here is the pub.
A. S.
We only got there late, close to last orders, so I appreciate those that he working hard all day may be getting to the frayed temper stage ...but the staff were unfriendly, not best pleased we wanted to stay for a drink and even a reasonable tip did not raise a smile never mind acknowledgement....I will try at a diff time before passing judgement, but it is often the staff that make the biggest impression
A. J.
Toilets where discussing even for a guy notice a member of staff went in and came straight back out there was no attempt to clean them
T. M.
Great food, excellent whisky
m. r.
Good pub! But food mrnu have been reduced to limited. Very cozy 😌
D. M.
Traditional pub, friendly staff and good selection of draught beers.
C. E.
Pretty cool pub, good amount of outdoor seating and a nice cosy vibe indoors but the online only app/website ordering and paying system means you have to really commit to this one drink you want... because it might be a while... The name comes from the fact you are sat in the square where Edinburgh historically held public executions and the pub definitely has a few macabre things reminding you :) haha
W. H. H.
Good beers, tasty food, moderate prices and serviceminded and sweet staff!!
D. B.
Very busy but it's a good place to go.
C. L.
Went here for a quick eat out to help out meal. Drinks are quite expensive (£3) for a can of iron brew but the location is premium. The short rib stew was good and warming - it was raining as usual outside. The chicken Ballantine was a little over cooked. However, excellent 10/10 haggis and the whisky sauce very flavoursome. Potion size just right!
Like most city centre eateries they get a tourist influx without returners but if you want a menu that’s not just burger fish and chips etc but want an informal pub rather than restaurant, this is as good as any.
There’s a service charge, even for a table of 3 just to be mindful of but the meals themselves are well priced for city centre.
J. M.
Only stopped in for a drink but it was a neat spot right next to where they would hang people back in the day.
K. B.
Lovely pub, friendly staff, nice choice of drink ... Food - well it missed the mark with us ( X2 had tough chicken club Sandwich) (X1 had lamb stew) (X1 had chicken bacon and haggis) we wouldn't eat here again but would definitely visit for drinks
B. B.
The best haggis in Edinburg. Moreover, the sausages were magical. The best I've tried, is the truth
s. t.
Very tasty haggis as main or chiken with haggis.
H. H.
We enjoyed this historical restaurant after Edinburgh Castle, a pint of ale was refreshing and our first haggis happened here.
L. H.
Food looked nice but all staff an unhappy bunch.... Didn't eat here. No gluten free options at all.
C. E.
Food was excellent, very nice ambience!
B. T.
Nice pub with decent food. Not as good as some of the neighboring pubs
B. P.
Tasty and welcoming while remaining rather affordable is something of a wonder in and of itself, but the atmosphere and wholesome attitude is truly great. No wonder, however, that booking in advance is even if not a must, is strongly advised. Also, they practically ran out of a significant amount of dishes while we were there, so it really is best to be prepared.
D. M.
Cool little pub, food options looked good, however, didn't eat and so am unable to comment on the quality. Will say it did smell and look delicious. Friendly staff, clean place and fairly priced drinks. The pun is what drew our patronage the atmosphere is why we stayed.
Ą. L.
Loved it!
R. R.
Atmospheric surroundings. Excellent food, make sure you got an appetite and not to forget to download the app if you are ordering. Great service and efficient too.
E. F.
Best mac'n'cheese I've ever tasted, and the cauliflower, kale and smoked cheddar burger was absolutely divine. Can highly recommend the Innis & Gunn larger.
Good service, beautiful pub and amazing grub.
As a vegetarian I often find only one or two options (and I hate salad) but this place is well equipped.
R. H.
Great food and great service. Highly recommended!
S. H.
Good food, venue and selection of drinks.
G. M.
The Last Drop is a great place for lunch or dinner, the food tastes great, there's a good selection on offer with some lovely Scottish dishes to choose from!
D. S.
A local pub with its local history. Just for a simple meal or a beer.
J. S.
Tried my very first Haggis (basically sheep pudding) here! I was really surprised by how much I ended up liking it, it's really not for everyone. I think you forget what it actually is once you taste it. It's salty, has a meat loaf consistency, tastes mostly like meat, and comes with a side of mashed potatoes and squash (loved the mashed potatoes).
I got the entree version in case I didn't end up liking it so I also ordered a small mac and cheese. So delicious. The cheese was all gooey and melted.
I left with a full, very satisfied stomach.
This place is a little bit touristic but still worth trying out. It's located in the square that used to showcase hangings, hence the name (the square is called Grassmarket and it still has the shadow of the gibbet, worth a look as well!).
M. C.
Lovely little pub for a drink. We didn't eat but service was quick and friendly.
A. D.
Great food, try haggis with whiskey sauce (sauce costs extra, I believe 2 pounds, but it is so worth it!). Beer is good, they have lots of options to choose from. Also, they have these "history" notes about whiskey, which is interesting and helps you pass the time while waiting for your food. The only negative is the service - been there a lot of times for the food and always, absolutely always, the waiters don't really care about you.
H.
Dark tourism at its finest. The bar tender on shift when we visited was really friendly and knowledgeable about the delicious craft beer we ordered. Take a minute to have a look at all the photographs and pictures on the wall, it will not disappoint.
J. B.
Nice pub, enjoyed an afternoon drink in here then again in the evening, friendly staff!
D. I.
Surprisingly, this pub doesn't serve fish & chips! That said, the food was great -- the one downside was a relatively small collection of draft ("draught") beers. It's positioned a bit downhill from the castle, so it's not quite on the main streets, but that can be seen as a positive or negative depending on how busy you like your pubs to be. It also has a good amount of outdoor seating. Nothing especially spectacular, but a solid lunch stop for us.
J. M.
Good location and atmosphere. Staff very accommodating to find a table on a friday night. Food was average.should be better to showcase visitors to this great city. Staff seemed not to have understanding of starter and main course. A main course arrived with starters along with a side order so person whose main arrived with starters were finished early. Stovies are not a stew with root vegetables. Probably choose somewhere else next time. Pity.

Quirky little pub steeped in history, loads of interesting information around the walls, pleasant staff, one of the must see places in Edinburgh.
C. C.
The bouncer asked me for ID. Flattering for a 33 year old but he didn't smile when I thanked him. Really busy and with lots of history.
T. N.
Great historical pub in the Grassmarket area. Great choices of beer and ciders. Atmosphere is typical pub. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Food was very good and reasonably priced.
Go for early dinner because it gets busy fast!!!
P. B.
Good selection of local beers and other drinks. 👍👍👍👍👍
V. X.
Good pub with marvellous Mac & cheese and with terrasse for smoker people.
M. N.
lovely staff, food ok. very loud and busy, good selection wine and beers
n. b.
Great location, lovely service and very tasty food. Small menu selection. Brownie was amazing!
J. B.
Friendly staff and great food.
B. W.
Lovely pub and to learn the history behind it
C. C.
Had a great time at the Last Drop after the lockdown, staff where lovely and were considerate each time they came to give us a time check. Big shout to Kamila our server that night she was lovely great service and excellent reflexes for catching loose paper that the wind blows away 😀😀👍👍👍
S. m.
Love this place. Small and cosy with a good atmosphere. Food was very good and I have to say, grade A chips. Great place if you want to get away from the crowds of tourists. Perfect find for our first trip to Edinburgh.
T. H.
Awesome pub, full of character
J. D.
Lovely atmosphere, great service and really tasty food. Recommended.
R. C.
Great staff good beer and nice food
L. M.
Such a great place, with excellent staff Camilla made us all feel very welcome & drinks came so quick despite the place being so busy 10/10 will be back 👏👏
J. H.
Good service, great selection and very nice food also
M. B.
The bar menu and app menu didn't match, so we had to order at the bar, which took aaaaages. Nice enough place, but nothing too special
K.
This pub is in the middle of the grassmarket and has some amazing history. The place is a bit quiet during the day. But the service and the staff were good and the meal was solid too and a decent price. Good place for a burger and to check out where they used to hang people.
N. H.
Interesting pub with a cool atmosphere that unfortunately got really busy the longer we spent here. The food was nice, the staff were very attentive but the place was small and our table near the window was cramped and the table next to us couldn't get out because there wasn't enough room in between the chairs. However the experience wasn't bad, just a little expensive and there wasn't that much options in regards to food, but I reckon most of the people going there are going to drink instead of eating. In conclusion, I would visit again and it would probably worth having a drink in because the pub itself is really cool.
J. B.
Lovely traditional pub. Super food & lovely friendly staff. Always call in when in Edinburgh..
T. N.
Lovely pub and great atmosphere. The food arrived quickly after we ordered. We were very happy with the haggis and macaroni and cheese. A sweet waitress made sure we were happy with everything.
J. K.
Quick service, as long as you can get a table. Excellent haggis and aged steak (Whisky sauce is tasty!), plus a respectable draft/bottle brew selection. One caution, it is a VERY lively atmosphere, so be sure yours to it during post-work hours.
G. K.
Great pub for dining or a pint!
Very good menu, the stovies were amazing and the staff very friendly! Also, there is a great story behind the pub, make sure you read the drinks menu!
A. B.
Nice Pub with a lot of history & good Pub food. Would recommend
T.
I went there because some website said they served vegetarian haggis but they don't (of course it's not their fault). The vegetarian option was a kind of macaroni and cheese with Scottish cheese which was good! The beer is good too, but the staff is overwhelmed by all the activity and our orders got mixed up with someone else's
S. T.
Loved the vegetarian options. We had some lentil pie, Mac and cheese and the Mediterranean burger. Everyone was really happy with all the dishes. Only one problem was the wait time. It took almost 2 hours to get the order. And during that time they ran out of lentil pie. It is a little chaotic as they were very busy.
S. F.
Nice pub but needs a wider beer selection.
K. P.
Staff were so nice in these covid times but we had to have our last drop in the last drop as it was our first time in
Scotland because it's a great place
R. K.
Lively place. Great pub to socialize and drink a few pints :-)
E. T.
Very juicy burger and amazing haggis! Definitely recommended
L. T. S.
Nice pub, small food portions. Staff were friendly.
r. M.
Old pub.. Lots of character.. Excellent drinks and menu.. Very polite service... A must if visiting Edinburgh and the castle.
J. W.
Real nice pub feel to it. Cosy, plenty of local beers. Pretty busy when we were there during New Years but not in a bad way. Didn’t try any of the food.
E. L.
Good ambiance for drinks
j. f.
A really nice place where you will find tasteful ale beers and good meals. Despite being quite busy when we went the service was fast. Highly recommendable
P.
Came back here multiple times while visiting Edinburgh. I have it on good authority that the veggie burger was "the best (veggie) burger I've had in my life". I seem to remember there was a veggie cottage pie on the menu that was ordered by the folks sitting next to us - that was also apparently very good but alas it will have to wait till the next visit.
R. W.
Popular pub on the Grassmarket, expect it to be crowded with tourists looking for food and drink. A good selection of real ale. Connoisseurs would prefer the Bow bar just round the corner for a more authentic bar.
B. I.
We bumped into this place as we were loitering about the grass market. A pub basically. I did have my vegetarian food apart from the usual bean burger, which was a surprise. The family had a good Scottish haggis with the usual salmon and burgers. A lively and crowded pub. Can visit for a quick grab.
C. M.
What a find, first evening in scotland and I must say what an experience the food which we choose was the classical options such as haggis, all options were delicious, we tried a glass of 15 year old whiskey which was so smooth and a local larger which worked so well with the food.
I could write paragraphs on how epic this was and for me it would be a 10 star review simply that good.
T. T.
Typical old style Edinburgh pub. They have a good selection of beers and spirits they also do food here which is very good for a pub. Staff are friendly and also very helpful. It's mostly a tourist type place so it's quite expensive for drinks. Bathrooms were average. Worth a visit when in Edinburgh
B. F.
If you go to Edinburgh and want a nice place to relax and eat, perhaps try something traditional and at a fair price... try here. Friendly helpful staff, nice selection of beer. It is popular so may be full during the usual times.
F. W.
The most lovely pub in Edinburgh ! Merci 😉
A. F.
Great atmosphere and great food! Especially the Haggis!
M. G.
Little gem in the heart of Edinburgh old town. Absolutley amazing food, great drinks, very reasonably priced and most importantly served by the friendliest staff! We already want to come back again! Make sure to visit this spot on your trip🤗
T. A.
10/10 accommodated our needs well! Fantastic service, good food.
r. s.
The pub itself is full of atmosphere, the staff were all very friendly. The beer was excellent, the food was good. The menu could have been a bit more varied. Overall very good.
C. B.
The Last Drop is a pub in grassmarket, the heart of the city, and is just a lovely place where to spend a night with friends or even alone. Comfortable sits, plenty choice of beers, wines and spirits and the food is proper fatty pub food, exactly what I was looking for.
A. H.
Historic pub in the Grassmarket.Atmospheric with nice vibe
M. L.
Really good food here. it was so good i came back again the next day. reasonably priced too and the staff were overall good
H. M.
Great pub - Haggis was fantastic, lovely service and all the food was great. Great to see Punk IPA on tap. Triple cooked chips were 👌 Would be worthy of a last meal as the location/name would suggest.
C. C.
Okay, I haven't been there since 2002 and again in 2004 but my memories of the pub are secured in my mind by the wonderful staff and the locals feel to the place. In fact the nights we went there, we were the only nonlocals. And the staff of bartender and waitress was exceptional. I remember being guided through the different whiskys to discover three I really loved. Equal attention for my companion was addressed to ales. Then we ate the pub food, home cooked and delicious. Simple and satisfying. Everything I thought a pub would be was found here for me.
I will be returning to Edinburgh and the Last Drop in a year or two. I smile just thinking about it. I know that things change. But I can't imagine so much change that I won't again find the Last Drop to my delight.
T. B.
Was a nice pub, menu was good, service was the only letdown really, had a pretty pushy waitress which is the only reason for not rating 5 stars. Still recommend this place though
P. I.
Came here for the Haggis and Tatties. Also a good Beer selection.
D. E.
Best pub hands down. This is my first time in Scotland and I've been through a lot of pubs but this one takes the cake. Phenomenal, you need to try it! I do recommend without a second thought
J. L.
Good atmosphere and a great location. It a small pub so gets very busy. Good drinks selection and friendly staff. The food also looked nice.
J. C. R.
I liked the haggis, and there is a great selection of beers. Scotch too, of course. The atmosphere is informal, a place where you can spend a good time with friends. In the past, people were executed by hanging in Grassmarket, just in front of the pub. A monument marks the location. The last drop was the last wish granted to the condemned, and the pub provided it! See the pictures of hangings and related items hanging (what else?) on the walls.
K. H.
Atmospheric pub in the Grassmarket. Lively and enjoyable.
I. H.
Great place! Drinks were good, food was great! Bathrooms were a little small and dirty, but that's okay. Location is also good and the staff are very nice. Would definitely go again. Also the prices are affordable.
C. M.
Super little snuggly pub.
C. l.
This place is cool, and food is also tasty
S. F. A.
The place is awesome, the atmosphere, the attention and the food. Totally recommended, it was one of the best meals we had and the waiter treated us very well
A. W.
Nice place to have dinner and enjoy the night!
M. N.
Great selection of beers with professional and friendly staff. Food was filling and fresh. Definitely a place to return to with friends for a wonderful meal.
B. N.
Very nice ambient and good beer and food, lots of great Scottish food. This pub has such a special history, in front of it they used to hang people and this was where they got their last drop of beer before their last drop from the gallows.
B. G.
Good heritage food ok
N. B.
Bizarre pub when executions by public hanging are displayed on pictures, which is normal when you know its dark and sorrowful history. The drinks and the food are very good, and the waiters smiling and helpful.
J. B.
Nice Pub which belongs to the macabre history's place. I couldn't get my Tennent Pint as manifold was on breakdown. Anywhere else was packed and it was freezing outside. Hagis wasn't so good as others I had but warm atmosphere.
P. C.
One of my favourite bars in Edinburgh. Been visiting this place since 1989! Good food and some nice beers on offer
S. O.
Very popular and busy, this friendly pub offers good service with real ales and a very interesting selection of Scottish dishes. I would highly recommend the cullen skink and the haggis tatties and neeps.
A. F.
Lovely staff and nice gin
Bar was out of a beer my boyfriend wanted. But overall good atmosphere and very popular.
Slightly overpriced
S. H.
Lovely pub. App doesn’t work on non British phones, had to order at the bar
S. R.
Great historic pub and area of Edinburgh.Friendly staff, easy to order drinks and food on app.
V. T.
A very nice cozy restaurant in the Grass market in Edinburgh. With bunch of vegetarian options in their menu and great drinks variety, this place is not to be missed if you are in Edinburg. Staff is friendly and we got the table without any wait.
We had their lentil cottage pie, veggie burger and mac and cheese. Lentil cottage pie is indeed a unique dish and a must try in this restaurant.
The reason why I am giving 4 stars is because of the long wait time after we placed an order and they also ran out of lentil pie on a weekday!! 🙄
B. N.
Nice atmosphere with great sausages and mash. Scottish cask ales on to were good as well. My burger was just ok, but the chips that came with it were excellent.
G. U.
It's a warm and cosy pub on the Grassmarket - Good menu, more scottish traditional food than your average pub. Haggis, Neeps and Tatties, toasty warm inside and freezing cold outside - there's no better place to be.
M. C.
Great little pub. Selling a cracking pint of Guinness. Friendly staff and customers.
S. S.
Great food and service. Nice outdoor seating on a nice day 🙂
K. T.
Old bar in the Grass Market. I was told to visit as this was the common area where hangings were done in 1500's and the bar has a haunting feel to it with all it's noose decor. Food was good though, I had a soup du jour which was a combination of sweet potatoes and apples I think and I got the traditional haggis as a first timer, but as an appetizer because I didn't know if I would like it. It was delicious along with 2 pints.
R. S.
Very good experience. the place is amazing and in its own way tells a little bit about the city history. the beer and the food are also great and the staff are friendly.
E. B.
Cool place with an interesting history, but the bartender carded me straight up. Normally I don’t care but the way she did it was kinda rude. I’m well over the legal age...
Otherwise 10/10 would visit again.
F. J. A. C.
Nice experience having lunch. Place and staff are agreable. We tried haggis as main dish and brownie and Cranachan as desserts. Brownie was great, and if you like red fruits youll love Cranachan.
We will be back to taste the burger.
V. M.
nice and friendly service and wonderful food! suggested!
M. A. W.
Perfectly acceptable food.
A. S.
Amazing food in a great location. Has a fun history to it as well. The haggis was very tasty and I highly recommend the toffee pudding.
M. H.
Cozy small restaturant with very good haggis. Staff is very friendly, offering variety of beers. So nice stop during trip trhough downtown.
Please dont miss it.
K. J.
This is a good bar to sample the atmosphere of the grass market. This is a bar that concentrates on the drink but some of the food is decent for pub grub. Because of it's location it's not cheap but it's always busy and the atmosphere is always lively.
P. C.
if you're there on a cold winter day... try out their hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream. It's delicious! Although it's a bit dark, the staff were quite nice and it has a very authentic feel.
M. B.
Tonight, we ate at The Last Drop because we heard the haggis was good. So glad we did. The haggis was great. The sticky toffee pudding was stellar as well. Beautiful meal.
S. F.
Delicious food and amazing service! We were looked after by Tom and really could not have asked for better service - efficient and super friendly! Thank you for a lovely evening!
J. G.
The food was really good and so was the service but because it was really busy, where we were sat was a little cramped
J. F.
Well kept ale with a fair selection. Lovely cozy decor and great atmosphere! Didn't eat, but Google makes you chose a rating regardless, other people's food looked nice though...
T. 최. T. (.
For fun place. With my guys
S. M.
A hidden gem, just a couple of minutes walk from the castle.
A traditional historic pub, serving great food.
Would definitely definitely return 👌🏻
S. A.
Visited for lunch. Good beer, good food. For USA/Marylanders - haggis is basically fancy scrapple. Enjoy it! Neat history and friendly staff.
P. I.
Excel cider, haggis n burger.. Macroni is good for the vegetarian
박.
Lovely atmosphere with super friendly staffs
E. M.
It's a nice place for food and drinks, pretty standard pub food and plenty of drinks to choose from. When you enter without reservation, you might have to be quick to fetch a table before someone else takes it.
E.
Bush tavern. Super friendly & very knowledgeable bartenders. Got nice whisky & gin collections! Ask the bartender for Gin selection, afterward, Gin & Tonic will never be the same for you!
S. W.
A classic, traditional old school Edinburgh pub. Small and intimate with a good atmosphere. Good range of Scotch whisky
A. F.
Great meals. Good beer & Whiskey und very friendly stuff - everything was okay. But be careful: It´s always full there und maybe you must wait to come in...
K. W.
Good selection of beers and wines excellent service very helpful staff
P. C.
Great Atmospheric pub and the food and drink is pretty good too
M. W.
Great food! Service is even better!
J. R.
Warm establishment which always seems to be busy, but the food was truly lacking and a bit too expensive for pub fare. I think I'm in the minority, but I would not return for the food.
Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz
V. D.
The last drop is a theme pub located in the grassmarket, near the Edinburgh castle.. the pub boasts the story that this was the place where the last execution took place in Edinburgh ! It is also said to be haunted but never experienced anything such !
It has a great atmosphere, serves traditional local food and ales ! Don't forget to taste Holyrood ale while visiting the last drop..
J. m. o. T. d. s.
Nothing great on the real ale
Usually have some good dark beers in most but not here .
Clean tidy staff helpful
B. W.
Cosy pub. First place we visited to have a drink and typical Scottish food.
S. M.
Nice homely pub,great atmosphere.
P. B.
Probably our favourite bar along Grassmarket.
Reasonably priced and a fab selection of drinks.
Small front outdoor area too to watch the world go by.
Smashing gaff 👍🏼
J. H.
The service was okay. It was busy so I can understand the prolonged wait. The food while good, was luke warm. I believe this was just my personal experience as most other people seemed content. Will visit again and hopefully it will live up to its name!
L. W.
Excellent little historical pub. Will the doorman was very welcoming and kicked off my amazing experience here and was so friendly and informative. We will be back again!
J. A.
Excellent pub near the Grass Market. Quaint, lively place with outstanding food. I had the cauliflower, kale and cheddar burger - sooo tasty!
J. C.
The bar is OK and drinks were cold but staff wasn't very nice.
J. K.
One of the nicer Grassmarket pubs. Tavern-like inside, the place can get a bit crowded at the weekends. Loses marks for having abrupt and over-zealous bouncers, who seem to be under strict instructions to not let groups of men in, however small and well behaved they might be.
S. S.
Visited during lunch. Great food, nice and service minded staff, and an overall cozy atmosphere. Two out of three draft beers I ordered from the menu were unfortunately out of stock.
S. P.
Really nice place, love the booths and vibe. Only wished they accepted song requests. However, the songs did become considerably banging after we requested a couple.
T. G.
This place was a nice place to stop and grab a pint and a meal. Dinnertime was busy and seating is limited so get there early if you want to avoid waiting too long for a table.
S. v. d. M.
Great place in Edinburgh with good food!
l. s.
1st class customer service with great range of quality drinks.
M. T.
Good quick and easy food, good selection of beers, very friendly staff. And are very accommodating even when extremely busy
S. G.
If you're into whiskey, you shouldn't miss this location. In an historical area of Edinburgh this marvelous pub is placed. A cosy atmosphere and a great range of drinks recomends "The Last Drop" for an attending.
R. B.
Supposedly a history behind the site of the pub where public hangings used to take place. Nice selection of ales although the round we ordered there was a problem with the cask as it didn't taste right but the landlord replaced it straight away. Good service
A. H.
Great food and drinks with big portions and not at a bad price. The staff were friendly and fast. Also a great history behind the name of the pub.
R. A.
Great old fashioned pub.
A. L. C.
Very comfy pub, we had haggis neeps and tatties for a starter which was big enough to share between 2. Stovies and Crannachan were absolutely delicious
E. W.
Lovely atmosphere staff very friendly very busy pub
t. s.
Lovely food nice atmosphere really enjoyed it
m. s.
Nice wee place, good atmosphere...although you might need to walk the bar staff through your order lol friendly service though
J. M. A.
One of the best bars in Edinburgh to enjoy locals goods in a very emblematic place full of history....and memories. Great quality, simple price
Ζ. Ρ.
A great variety in beers.... very good place
R. A.
It is a very old ,legendary pub at Grassmarket. It has witnessed numerous executions where the last drop of whisky would be offered to the unfortunate soul from this pub. It offers quintessential Czech cuisine.
A. G.
Ordered the mac and cheese with a whiskey flight chosen by the server. He chose very well! Lots of history in this pub as well as the grounds outside.
A. C.
Really nice pub/bar with a relaxed friendly atmosphere.
S. S.
Went in here as it was recommended for haggis. It did not disappoint. Pub is a little small though so I imagine at peak times there is a bit of a wait.
M. M. O.
Only had beers. Friendly staff and fair prices. Cosy atmosphere, Nice pub vibes.
I. “. J.
Nice cosy and warm pub with a lot of history and a great selection of beers and wines. Good service and an overall welcoming atmosphere, despite the morbidity of its history!
r. b.
A very special place. All around and inside. You can eat very good and drink a good beer while you imagine how many things and event have appened in the past. Top.

Fantastic club sandwich very reasonable price and great service

Many kinds of beers, good whisky and friendly personnel. The bar which I really like to visit again in my next visit of Scotland capital.
N. M.

L. “. S.
Great food and a good range of drinks.
S. C.
Great pub with friendly bar staff.
J. N.
Slight shame they removed the old denominations from the ceiling, but some great paintings and a lot history. Top spot for a yarn and a sociable drink in the grassmarket.
C. M.
Love the oldie worldy feel. Food was excellent but a little pricey. Would recommend
H. W.
A great pub in the heart of Edinburgh. Always good service and good ales on tap. Perfect on a cold day as it's really warm and welcoming.

My wife had an amazingly tenderand juicy grilled chicken and bacon sandwich. I ate an awesome prime rib sandwich. Food was well priced and service was great.
M. F.
Good location, good selection of beer and great burgers!!
s. s.
Ordeees the aubergine burger with no bun was awesome!
A. B.
Great beer but none of the staff are wearing masks, unlike every other place in the grassmarket.
a. m.
Tasty meal very well presented. Reasonably priced menu, service excellent waitress called Dita has outstanding customer service skills.
L. T.
Great food! Really good drinks. Relaxed vibe. The prices are moderate for the sort of establishment.
M. G.
Went on a Monday night, there were people, but it still was quiet enough to have a conversation. I had the chance to try some Innis & Gunn and loved it!
C. E.
This pub is very small and traditional but has a good selection of beer and ales and the waiters are super funny and nice. No food though.
S. F.
Great little public house.
A. D.
Friendly bar staff, good food and great atmosphere. Would definitely come back here. Wonderful.
S. I.
One of the oldest typical Scottish taverns in Edinburgh and a interesting history that our Tour guides could tell you about....
P. C.
Always buzzing, right in the heart of the historic Grass Market, good food and a decent selection of drinks. Well worth a visit.
D. E.
Wonderful ancient pub in the middle of old town Edinburgh
E. C.
Good drinks 🍸
D. M.
Not a bad little place.
D. B.
Ate our first Haggis there, it was very good and delicious! Would recommend for eating Haggis and having a good Ale.
T.
Food and prices were good. I was a bit disappointed by the dismissive and slow service; it was hard to get the attention of the waiters
B. M. L.
Good place to take a drink perfectly located and with a historical background that makes it even more special. 100% recommended.
A. R. (.
Great spot and nice selection of food and drink
D. M.
Good bar on the Grassmarket. Efficiency service ordering via the app.
A. J.
Nice place but atmosphere was definitely better than the food. Great location and good selection of beers.
G. L. R.
A good place, good food and nice attention from the waitress.
Worth repeating some time.
L. S.
Quality of food is better in comparison with other pubs around the area. Good ambient and music but a bit smelly though if you choose to seat nearby the toilets!
C. R.
Historic pub with informal, pleasant atmosphere. Prices are not outrageous, unlike some Grass market pubs, and good quality fare.
F. F.
Classic scottish pub, but missed opportunity... would've named it The Last Hop.
R. R.
Really nice bar, tends to get busy even on a week night so seats at a premium.
K. A.
Very nice bar and great ambiance! The food was good but not enough quantities.
M. A. T.
Not great selection of beers or ales.... A typical chain pub
a. m.
Great place to go very historic place and a great atmosphere the staff are amazing and very friendly the food is also some of the best bar food I have ever had too notch place to for a night out
R.
Fun bustling pub. Good food, nice service. Check out the history of the place. Lats stop for a dram before the hangman!!

Nice spot to drop into with plenty of history
T. P.
Love hanging round here

S. S.
This is a pub on the grassmarket which makes it very central. The pub is clean and nicely decorated. And the people there were very friendly
H. J.
As a chinese, I think Haggis in this bar is really tasty. You should try. The cask ale is awesome. The price is also reasonsable

Very agreable place, just like I imagined the scottish pub. Beer was tasty, but the kitchen's closing before 9pm

Good pub meal. Pretty touristy but good food and a small selection of cask ales. Haggis was fantastic.
T. v. L.
Great vibe in this old pub. Decent food for a slightly upscale price. Very busy.
E. G.
ian & i lived in a flat upsairs from the last drop for a week & a half on our vist from darwin northern territtory australia . the the service, food and apmoshere at the last drop was unreal as they are very often VERY busy.Owner James & Ruth along with ther main men Duncan & Chris & all their staff should be very proud of the service they provide. We shall definatly be returning on our next visit to scotland.
