Reviews of Innis & Gunn Glasgow Brewery Taproom
J. L.
Outstanding.
I fell into Innis & Gunn during the first sunny day of the year here in Glasgow, and although I wasn’t sure what to expect, I had no idea I’d receive such a strong flavour offering from the renowned brewery.
The portion sizes are generous and the presentation excellent. The flavour combinations really hit home in the mains, which delivered at every measurable attribute - all served by a wonderful waitress providing flawless service.
The interior is inviting, spacious and really well laid out and I hope to return soon with a group, as the whole place give off a good time vibe.
This felt like a 2022 experience of casual dining excellence.

After drinking Innis & Gunn in Canada for many many years, I finally had the opportunity to go to Scotland and experience one of their Tap Rooms. WOW! What a great time(s)…I might have gone multiple times the week I was in Glasgow.
So many beers on tap, and the staff were happy to help me taste my way through them to get the best choice.
If you have extra time, I highly recommend the brew school!
R. L.
Fantastic day with the brewery school. Well worth the money for a day of tasters, brewing and a great atmosphere. Jamie was fantastic with the brewing side, and the staff were really good at recommending different beers. Well worth the trip, and will be looking forward to coming back.
E. M.
WOW. This place is amazing! Great food, huge beer selection, and great deals too! Atmosphere is wonderful and service is great. Their hot sauce is some of the best in the world honestly. The food pictured is ALL VEGAN! The beer was also alcohol free and DELICIOUS! Bringing my friends here next time I visit.
T. H.
Our first time to the Glasgow taproom but after our trip to Edinburgh last year we decided to call in on our way back from our road trip & we were not disappointed!! The place is set up really well with nice big tables ideal for couples or large groups of friends. The beer is incredible & the food even better!! Full of flavour, loads of choic e and good value for money we will definitely be returning to Innis & Gunn. £60 for 4pints, 2 starters & 2 burgers - left feeling totally stuffed! Great service from the staff in there attentive and efficient
S. G.
Great place. Quick service and great staff and food.
G. J.
beer goggled! I was initially a little unsure as to how this experience day was going to play out but our brewer Jamie made sure the day was both fun and informative. The food was great, the beer was great, and all of the staff in the venue were on hand and working well together to give us a great day out. Great value and experience. Can't wait to taste the fruits of our labours ;) *Hic!
K. R.
Made the most of the lunch time burger and beer special. Good value for money. Good burgers. If I went for dinner though I would have liked a bigger serving of chips!
A. G.
Nice cider. Small cobbled street. Can eat here.
S. K.
Great beer, great food, great people. Excellent chefs here (the OG Burger is king), fantastic Innis & Gunn beers, a United Nations of tempting guest beers on tap and in the bottle/can. A visit to Glasgow always means many delightful visits to this cracking pub on the gorgeous Ashton Lane. My compliments again to the exemplary staff 🤙🏼
J. W.
Wonderful upscale pub food. We had the cauliflower to start, which was spicy and sweet. I had the flat iron chicken and my husband had the chicken burger. Both excellent. My chicken was very moist. The chips (fries in my native language) were the best I've had in a long time. I'll be comparing many chips to these for a long time to come! Oh, and the beer was good too. The first Innis and Gunn I ever had (many years ago), I said, "Innis and Gunn- yum yum yum." I stand by that review. Yum yum yum.
N. F.
Offers a nice selection of drinks (especially beer) and serves generic pub grub. I personally was unimpressed with my burger and thought it was an overpriced McDonald's burger. I was also a bit disappointed with the service - it felt like staff were actively avoiding eye contact and it made it difficult to order.
C. B.
Went here for the brewery day.
Really enjoyed. Tom who hosted the day was brilliant. Friendly and informative. Made the day fun.
The only thing that I didn’t like was that we didn’t get the lunch until 14:30 and we started at 12. Everyone in the group was pretty hungry by this point. But when the food arrived it was very nice. The beers we sampled were great too. Looking forward to heading back to pick up our kegs.
R. P.
Visited with my partner for his birthday and had a great time.
The service was really quick and everyone was so friendly, the atmosphere was lovely, and the food was delicious.
We're already looking to book our next meal here! Thanks again!
T. W.
Perfect venue to catch up with some pals the night before a wedding! Fantastic selection of ales. Friendly bar and door staff! If I'm ever in Glasgow I'll definitely be visiting again.
R. M.
If you're looking for the best pint of Innis & Gunn Original on draft, this is the place (obviously) like heaven in a pint glass. The food is really exceptional and the staff are super friendly! One of our favourite places to visit in Ashton Lane, Glasgow.
T. M.
Was always a definite visit as i drink their beer all the time but I wasnt that impressed with the taproom , the beer was great but the partners cocktail wasnt up to her standards ,it wasnt busy yet service was slow so slow in fact we left after 1 drink in an hour to go for our meal
K. R.
Made the most of the lunch time burger and beer special. Good value for money. Good burgers. If I went for dinner though I would have liked a bigger serving of chips!
S. G.
Great place. Quick service and great staff and food.
A. G.
Nice cider. Small cobbled street. Can eat here.
R. R.
A bit pricey but worth it for the nice ambience
J. P.
The Beer Kitchen is located close to the University in a vibrant popular part of Glasgow. On the day we visited a 'Brew School' was taking place, which meant that the wonderful smell of malt filled the bar area. The food was excellent - probably the best chips I've tasted, whilst the fish had a subtle IPA taste and light crispy batter. The lamb was cooked pink as requested. The service was relaxed and friendly, the staff happy to discuss the brewing process and answer questions. I'll definitely be returning soon!
D. J. F.
A lovely delightful dog friendly pub.
We visited this establishment two weeks ago now and I’m still thinking about the burger I had for lunch.
When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly server, who walked us through the menu and the various in house brewed ales.
Our food took a little while to be prepared of which I thought was understandable due to it being a Saturday afternoon, however our server took it to heart and offered us free drinks or a discount to our meal.
The atmosphere inside was jovial and our dog loved all the attention he received by staff and customers.
We will definitely be returning.
T. A.
Staff where amazing, food was delicious. Had a great time at New Year. Security was extremely friendly and felt100 covid safe. I can't remember the name of the guy and girl who served me because of too many libations but if you ever get the chance to go make sure they are the ones who serve you..
D. P.
First time here, since it changed from Cul-de-Sac. Excellent tap lagers and a great selection of bottled beers. Didn't eat but the menu looks quality.
L. J.
It was a busy night in general but despite this the bar had a very warm and relaxed vibe, you order through an app and the service was good a quick. The staff were friendly and professional (and all wearing masks) and the drinks delicious and fresh. It's a small place but brimming with character, I would recommend it to anyone!
T. J.
Did the taproom experience with Jamie. Brilliant day thoroughly recommend it. Lots of tasters, lunch and brewed our own kegs.
G. B.
Great hidden gem in the West End Area of Glasgow. A fantastic range of beers on tap.
You can even brew your own beer in the facility
k. h.
Visited the Brewing school on Saturday and really enjoyed our visit. From learning about the Brewing process to the tastings it was all excellent (with lunch thrown in)
L. E.
Nice place, amazing staff, lots of different beers, excellent food! A good place to meet friends for a few drinks and chat.
J. L.
Great range of beers as you would expect expensive though, good place to have a couple of beers. Décor is the usual for these bars , food is okay if you like burgers etc.
S. H. C.
Wonderful bar snacks and beer.
A. D.
Ultimately cool place, good beer, good food, whiskey even better. Waitress is super cute
K. C.
Nice food and pretty consistent. Great selection of beers as you'd expect.
A. P.
Great staff.... food first class...... no issues at all... staff lovely.... Will be back... the NYC dog was delicious.
P. S.
Superb staff, wonderful selection of beer, great atmosphere.
P. D.
Great for a pint and something to eat, had to get a takeaway of the starters as I didn't want to ruin my main, ha
r. p.
Great beers specially the Ocal beer amazing taste. Wonderful service is a plus.👏
M. M.
Food was excellent best fish and chips i have tried and Nice beers.
A. B.
If you like craft beer and wholesome food then this is the place for you. Sitting in Aston lane it has the charm too. Lots of guest beers to try.
S. L.
Some of the best beers we've had, and I work at a brewery in the US! The food was delicious too, and the service was great! I wish I remembered her name, but she made great suggestions for us. We ended up coming back to buy beer to take to the hotel.
L. M.
Drinks were OK, to be honest I prefer the drinks the sell through Tesco. It just didn't seem to taste as good on draft which is the opposite of what the usual experience is.
The food was OK, under seasoned and a bit dry but not terrible.
The service from the waiting staff was EXCELLENT, they really couldn't have been more friendly, professional, or helpful.
I think we would be happy to visit again.
C. M.
Gastric fantastic - great Japanese food and drink on a Versus evening. Highly recommended!
L. J.
Loved it. Laid back vibe
Great service and fab selection of beers. The burgers were delicious.
A. S.
A unique oasis in Ashton Lane. Really excellent range of beers. A great pint of lager ! Friendly and helpful staff. Well managed and safe location. Quick service particularly with their app. A solid menu which is well matched to the beers. Particularly impressed by the KFC ! Will be returning often.
D. O.
Great day out in the Brew School. May not have the equipment to do this at homeat the moment , but tasting beer in a whole new way now and have been able to identify where certain flavours come from. A very informative and fun day with knowledgeable and friendly staff.
A. R.
Fantastic night - thought table service due to covid restrictions might have been slow given the size of the place but pleased to say that the service was fantastic and the staff very pleasant.
C. R.
Great atmosphere, tasty beers on tap, yummy food, what more do you need 😊
R. B.
Can feel a bit cramped and uncomfortable inside but there is a good selection of drinks and the burgers are great
A. M.
Was really looking forward to going here as love their Irish whiskey barreled stout in cans. Was expecting the draft to be amazing. Alas, was told it was no more!. Had a milk stout instead but you can get them in a lot of places. Shame
P. H.
Great place. Awesome Student discount and we’re very accommodating of our large group.
T. T.
Good food with higher prices
W. H.
I had a couple of pints of the Edinburgh-brewed beer here with a colleague after work. The beers I tried were delicious. Ans, the staff were great at helping me decide what to try. Plus, the pub sits in an intriguing street. Well worth a visit.
M. F.
Loved it. Was quite pleasently surprised by the beer brewed on spot although the service was a bit of a miss.
S. G.
Was on a tasting and didn't know what to expect. Staff could not do enough to welcome us and make sure all ok.
M. W.
Cracking place in Ashton Lane. Also so own brand of non alcoholic beverages too which was good for me duty driver. Nice set up they have
S. P.
Selection of tasty ales in a cosy pub. Great place to while away a few hours on a cold winters afternoon. Good food options also.
M. D.
Oops..think I confused my islay bar review. I'll be here in a few weeks for a tap room experience..looking forward to it.
K. S.
Amazing! The food and staff were fantastic
M. M.
Lovely place, food is amazing and dogs are allowed which is great. I would highly recommend. Absolutely amazing variety of drink.
M. M. C.
Great place. If you go have to try Session IPA
H. C.
Fab food & drink, great vegan selection
P. M.
Lovely burger with vegan cheese cos I'm lactose intolerant and a great red brew from the brewery downstairs. Yummm!
S. R.
Cheap beer for students. Welcoming environment. I recommend.
V. B. F.
Nice beer selection and really good fish and chips
D. G.
Couldn't find a better place for a Club meal snd night out
J. B.
Great beer selection and food
H. N.
Proper beer, friendly staff, lovely food. Been here a couple of times and I will definitely be back soon. If you like beer, this is a good place to go, I thoroughly recommend it.
I keep going back to this place, it is great. One of the guys I hang out with picked his new flat over two other places based on the proximity to this pub, that says a lot.
K. O.
Great food. Amazing beer with a vast selection
D. L.
Great local beer and food to match
C. L.
Beer isn't spectacular but the environment is fun and a nice spot right on Ashton Lane.
A. P.
Man. That whisky/pickle juice thing. I thought it would be more a shot or 1 part whisky to 2 part juice. A massive goblet of pickle juice was insane.
R. S.
Great location in the heart of Byres Road. Great selection from the taps and occasional takeovers from other brewers.
K. G.
A great post-gig place to recharge and drink good beer .
A. F.
&rest selection of beers. Good food. Great atmosphere in cosy lane setting.
K. “. K.
Had some drinks at the bar were okay and pretty. But the place itself if quite dirty with distinct unpleasant smell
V. R.
Fair enjoy the Burns afternoon tea. Good food, good bear. Quick service, very pleasant environment.
J. P.
Very attentive high quality service. The server actively helped us reduce the bill with special offers
N. B.
Great drink, friendly staff and good atmosphere
S. H.
Nice place for a beer on a quirky little lane. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.
S. K.
I've been at the restaurant upstairs and i liked the ambiance. It is a nice mix of retro style and a bit industrial. The beer was good. I had a rib eye steak with salad and chips. Everything was of good quality and taste. The service was very friendly and excellent. Danke Sarah ;) I know where I will eat on my next visit to Glasgow.
I. G.
Nice little bar with a cracking restaurant upstairs. It sits at the end of Ashton Lane which is a hub of activity and life in the West end. There are lots of bars and restaurants crammed into a tiny street with really cool lights draped across the roof line giving providing a canopy of lights like an array of little stars at night time.
In the Bar downstairs there isn't much room as they also have a micro-brewery on site however they make up for that with a decent selection of both draft and bottled beers.
The restaurant upstairs is a decent size with a kind of rustic feel to it, exposed brick work and the like. The food is excellent, decent amount of choice and everything i ate was brilliant and delicious. The have a decent selection of beers, wines etc and some cocktails should you feel the need for something a bit different. Some of the seats/tables face out onto Ashton Lane where you can watch the world go by.
Being in the West end getting there isn't too difficult. Like all of Ashton lane it is a 1 min walk from Hillhead Underground station. If you drive there is parking on Great George St however the car park is usually very busy so getting a space can be tricky. Best option is probably to use public transport or walk - its about 30-45 min from the City center.
C. M.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Beer was top notch and hit the spot.. Website could be easier to order from though
S. W.
Not a very cozy place to have dinner. Style is modern and clean. Service was very good and attentive. The four beer taster is a nice idea but the beer was quite terrible. The food we ordered was all mediocre - especially the haggis for 2 was a bit disappointing. The plastic wrap came off in small pieces and you had to be careful not to eat it.
Won't go again especially when there are so many other choices.
J. M.
Went for a brew school experience hosted by Mike and it was fantastic. Would happily recommend.
A. Y.
Stumbled upon this on a Sunday wander with wife and kids. Excellent find. Bright, stripped back deco upstairs with views overlooking Ashton Lane. Food decent but slightly limited selection. Microbrewery on site offering wide range of beers from under £3 a pint.
A. M.
Great experience at the Brew School and some excellent beers to sample also.
C. M.
Nice venue, usually quiet during the day and more lively at night, especially at the weekends. Student deals on their standard lager Monday to Thursday. Food is not cheap, but to be expected in the West End and is good quality. Definitely worth a visit for a good pint.
M. S.
The food was nice and fairly good value. The seating was good with plenty of room. However, we went in prior to visiting and asked about gluten free options and we're told that most of the menu could be gluten free. When we went back later ordered drinks and food we discovered the reality was that there was virtually nothing that was available gluten free. Be aware that in some places in the room the music through the speakers is quite loud.
M. T.
Great taphouse in the well to be part of Glasgow. Houses some great craft beers & a few easy to drink sours 👍🏻
R. K.
Loved their own pint, got student discount which is not normal in other pubs
C.
Lovely little spot with good food and great prices. A friend and I visited here about a month and a half ago and unfortunately there was a mix up in the kitchen and our order was sent to the wrong place. However although we waited a while for food the staff very apologetic and the manager Fiona offered to have us come back for a meal on the house. Today we went back and were very happy with our experience, and the communication I had with Fiona couldn't have been friendlier. Thanks again!
B. T.
Great food and the staff were very nice, everyone that served us was really friendly and up for a laugh, highly recommended 👏
R. S.
A great bar with a superb selection of beers, some brewed on site. A good selection of spirits and wines as well. I haven’t tried the food but the menu looks good. A more up market restaurant upstairs on the first floor and a very trendy top floor bar makes for a great venue in Glasgow's West End super hip Ashton Lane. Beer tip - Innis & Gunn's own Gunpowder IPA.
R. B.
Great food, great beer!
T. M.
Had a great day doing the 'brew school experience' with the ever knowledgeable and all round good chap Mike.
A. G.
... Terrific visit.. Good food, beer and location.. Needs no recommendation..get in early..!!
M.
Be warned that the kitchen is for preparing the food only, you don't get to go in.
My two sons and I were also lost for nearly an hour wandering the labyrinthine Ashton lane system. Lines indicating where people should walk to find your wonderful establishment would make a welcome addition to an otherwise grey and boring pavement.
The food is excellent though and very reasonably priced considering the quality.
There are also lots of Beers on tap but it doesn't seem like a place I would go to drink.
Not sure if Innis & Gunn were in the kitchen but we didn't see either of them on this particular trip.
All in all would highly recommend to Adults and children of all varieties.
E. L.
Amazing bar in the heart of Glasgow's West End. Extensive menu, not just beer, but beer is the star. They also do some great-looking cocktails. Lots of seating and a modern decor. They also run a 'brew school' on a Saturday allowing you to brew your own beer (pre-booking necessary). They serve food also - bar bites and slightly larger options. Some brews available are site specific - they have an Ashton Lane small batch beer available at the time of writing!!
C. A.
I liked the amount of different beers on tap that were available. All the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We were only in for drinks but did get table service for this. We didn't have good while visiting but wouod go back to try it.
Overall it was a laid back kind of place with craft beers. It was busy without being too busy. A good atmosphere
P. W.
Great experience seeing how to brew beer. Jamie was very knowledgeable and made the experience worthwhile.
W.
Good selection of beers, great little micro-brewery on site too. Isn't often seating here but that's to be expected in at a busy pub.
Food service can be super slow.
V. V.
Friendly staff, great food (the burger was amazing!!) and a large selection of beers that anyone can find something they'll enjoy!
A. M.
Great food and great atmosphere. The Attic bar (top floor) is really nice and cosy. The middle floor with the restaurant is nice and comfy and served great food. The bottom floor is where Ketchup used to be and has a fairly similar layout but with a microbrewery in the back corner and a decent sized bar running up the right wall.
The microbrewery is a nice feature and serves beers only available in this pub. Otherwise the pub stocks the full range or Innis and Gunn beers and Thistley Cross ciders (which are very nice too). And if you are concerned about the debate, it's a Pepsi joint.
All in all a great addition to Ashton Lane and one I will be frequenting regularly. If you want food I recommend reservations - it may quieten down a bit but on Friday (opening day) it was very busy. Also whilst they have a restaurant and a bar menu, the website is for restaurant booking (its not that clear on the site).
J. E.
Cheap beer (lager and IPA is £3 if you're a student), excellent deal on food (select burger and select pint for a tenner, ask for options. Solid deal). Live music on some evenings. I go often with the Irish society and their attic bar is excellent
B. P.
Was enjoying beers too much to take a photo. Staff were nice. Had everything that was on tap. There was an awesome whisky beer too - islay whisky cask. Was awesome.
t. r.
Thought well another fast food experience. How wrong can a person be I loved the food experience IT WAS DELICIOUS I loved it, I'm going to be boring and rave on the food was wanderful very originall and soooo tasty you know the melt in the mouth delicious. And the wanderful waitress. Give her a pay rise. She was awesome. Going back. 😁
L. K.
Amazing food! Lovely staff! Quirky atmosphere
b.
Nice set up! Vast selection of beer and other assorted alcoholic beverages.
Obviously can get very busy quickly but the booths are high enough that it's not too loud and you don't have to shout across the table to each other.
T. D.
Very helpful staff and a good boozer. Can be a bit noisy downstairs but upstairs has quieter areas.
S. T.
I was really excited and looking forward to visiting Innis and Gunn's new place on Ashton Lane in Glasgow and planned my business trip up from Southampton accordingly! Ashton Lane is a quirky, vibrant place which looks and feels more like a village in the Alps than an enclave behind a main city shopping street. It was really busy inside and out but we managed to gather together a table and chairs outside with the kind help offered by the doorman who then also offered to take our photo when I produced my camera. All staff and customers we met were helpful and friendly and we felt part of the crowd immediately. Food was popular obviously as when I enquired the barman volunteered there was a 45 minute wait which saved us ordering and having to leave for a business commitment before it arrived. Lovely evening thank you - looking forward to returning soon.
P. G.
Bit of a faff as the WiFi refused to let me sign in and the app refused my card but staff were all lovely and great beers
S. W.
Good selection of great beers and really nice food.
M. H.
Friendly staff + tasty beer = Good times
C. T.
Craft beer compliments good food.
F. H.
Friendly and accommodative service, good range of beers. Really nice location.
L. O.
A real gem on bar map in Glasgow, if Tennents and Kronnenburg are not on top of your list of favourite beers. We didn't try any food, but the choice of drinks (not only beers) was outstanding! The Froday night live band was a nice addition, but for this size of venue it was way too loud. We had to go outside to talk. Thankfully they have heaters for smokers (or talkers) in place, so we didn't freeze ;) Would highly recommend on any other night though :-)
p. t.
Excellent lunch here and beer flight. Staff are knowledgeable, courteous and available without being intrusive.
Food is simple and very good, prices are reasonable.
Thoroughly recommend.
H.
Enjoyed my night here, good beer selection with one infused beer. Our infusion of strawberru and basil wasn't great but i hear from friends past infusions have been very nice. Nice space and a goid menu with lots of choice. Also friendly staff that know there stuff. To top it all off the restraunt has some amazing art by a local artist, who we discovered was called David Galletly, super cool and really inkeeping with the vibe.
G. M.
Excellent food, great range of beer and friendly efficient staff. Highly recommended!
K.
Really good beer selection but didn't have any low/non-alcoholic beers when I visited last week. Still, really lovely bar with friendly people behind the bar.
D. W.
Always friendly and helpful staff here. Beer good and comforting bar snacks.
S. C.
Great food and good service. The popcorn mussel stater is delicious and my husband really enjoyed the KFC starter as cauliflower is his favourite vegetable! Main courses equally yummy - I had the 'boozy 'duck and he had the pork. Finally shared a cheese-plate - doubt one person could eat it anyway! - tho sadly there was none of the advertised grapes with it and we had to send for some oatcakes, but I have to say the cheeses were excellent.
A few wee 'niggles' for my poor husband - first they didn't have the cider he wanted to drink (i know - we were in a beer-kitchen but neither of us likes beer!) - then his order of thick-cut chips arrived as french-fries and finally the lapsang souchong tea he was very excited to see on the menu wasn't available either. In the end we weren't charged for the cheese plate or the chips and were profusely apologised to. However the glitches won't put us off and we'll definitely be back!
s.
Pretty pricey but a great pint , staff are good food was 7/10
D. H.
Great selection of beers and good service. Allowed our 16 year old daughter in (until 9pm)... so thanks for that. Guess it's more "regulations" than rules that meant we had to leave ;-(
M. B.
So many beers on tap you don't know what to pick! Food is good and they have a vegan menu. Dog friendly too!
D. M.
Can only comment on the bar, as I haven't eaten there yet. Great range of good beers, both their own and guest. Beers change regularly.
J. T. H.
Good food, but the real star of the show is the selection of locally brewed craft beers.
T. O.
Fantastic bar with a good beer selection. The food also looked nice however I didn't try it.
M. S.
Great craft pub. Even had a 0.5% craft ale which was delicious
S. C.
Really nice and as it's on Ashton Lane that's a bonus. Well worth a visit.
A. V. A.
I had an amazing hot dog and some good Scots beer
S. C.
Great beers, service and atmosphere
J. D.
This place looks great. The beer tastes Amazing. I never had any but the menu and food looks very tasty
G. G.
Hop-tails... who'd have thunk cocktails with a splash of beer could be so good?
Great beer on tap from microbrew and full plates of food with no chef-y smears! Love it.
a. b.
Lots of different beers on offer here. A nice place to sit and have a few drinks with friends. The place has a good feel about it. Friendly staff.
E. J.
Good service and great choice of beer
S. J.

Wow... my mind was blown when I went into Innis & Gunn not onli by the amazing pint of tenants I got but by the beautiful Italian waiter who gave me it. When I first saw him I was like ohh Ciao Bello. The pint tasted very sweet and had an Italian essence to it... I throughly enjoyed the pint and as I drank the pint I got some beautiful Italian eye candy :) would deffo recommend... Ciao

Fantastic selection of beer and ales for those who are interested. For those who aren't, they also serve a decent selection of cocktails and spirits, with good student deals as well.
