Reviews of Kelvingrove Café
A. l.
I really enjoyed my evening in Kelvingrove café. The staff was very friendly and the cocktails (with and without alcohol) were great. We (my sister, my father and I) originally just wanted to stay for a few drinks. But then we ordered some snacks and decided to stay: DELICIOUS olives, the oysters are fresh and great, the fries and the tartar are also excellent.
We were pleasantly surprised and would definitely recommend this place!
D. B.
We happened upon this wee spot on a recent trip... And are so glad we did! Service was friendly and efficient, the food was exceptional and the interior is just lovely. Best coffee I've had in a long time and the pastry to finish was perfect. We will definitely be back, highly recommend!
D. H.
A great find! We visited Glasgow for a concert and randomly called in here for drinks and brunch. Staff were brilliant a credit to the place and the food was really high standard. Without doubt next time we go to Glasgow we will head here!
L. S.
What a lovely find rite on main road in Argle St,
With its Cuban decor great staff
Warm inviting atmosphere not to mention most enjoyable drinks 😉 (pitty no draft mixers)
Unfortunately we never got to taste anything on the menu we will go back for that !!
BARRY the owner very friendly welcoming and hospitable
Great place for date nite or just a couples ,friends catch up
S. S.
Delicious brunch in super dog friendly cafe. Service was great for us and the dog.
A. W.
Excellent food and service, a great Sunday chilled hideaway.
F. I.
Overall it was nice. Went at lunch rush hour so quite busy. Got served quickly for drinks then food. Tables are very sticky which is not very nice at all for then eating food. Probably a been there done that type place for me and slightly pricey for the food you do get - it wasn't anything wow.
H. B.
Great cocktails!! But … such a shame the staff are forced to wear those T-shirts.
You would expect more individuality for a independent bar.
D. B.
The food was good, but the highlight of this cafe are the friendly, attentive young staff. I could not have had better service.
S. M.
Really tasty breakfasts, in a lovely atmosphere, with friendly and attentive staff. A little more pricey than other places but arguably worth it 🍳
C. C.
Nice food, chatty staff. Sorry, no photo, ate it straight away! The fresh orange juice was refreshing too.
T. H.
Gorgeous little place with an open fire, booths, natural light and banging brunch. Get the beef dripping hash browns which are on another level. The staff are lovely, incredibly friendly and accommodating and they’re part of the reason we’ll be back again soon.
S. M.
Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Kelvingrove Café. Thankfully we booked a table in advance for cocktails otherwise we would have missed out on a great start to our Saturday night. Had we not known about this place we would have easily walked straight past it being so understated from the outside. What a gem, great atmosphere, staff very helpful and knowledgeable and the Aperitvo plate-tapenade starter we chose for a nibble was a perfect complement to our drinks. We will definitely return.
C. V.
Had a lovely lunch staff very pleasant and attentive food was very nice and cocktails lovely but where a bit pricey compared to others. Would definitely go back
J. R.
Great spot for anything from breakfast to cocktails! Dog friendly too!
N.
Great brunch place! Cute inside, relaxed staff. Some dishes are great (tomato soup, poached eggs & avocado), some are disappointing (scrambled eggs with chorizo; croissants). Would come again.
M. R.
Wonderful drinks brilliantly made...but would much rather choose my own seat than be seated all the time. Otherwise excellent.
M. R.
Came here for a Sunday breakfast with some friends, by the time we left it might as well have been lunch...
The food was made well and tasted just right but the lack of attention from staff and the overall pompousness of the place left it to be desired.
Although an interesting style, dressing up the place doesn't compensate waiting 40minutes for coffee another 10 to have someone take our order then waiting on simple things like cutlery when food has already been served.
The saving grace here is certainly the food and it seems to be more of a case of too few staff being worked too hard more than anything else.
Would certainly try again.
m. w.
Nice cocktails? Interesting old fashioned menu. Nice surroundings great service.
S. C.
Great allrounder pub. Had drinks, cocktails and brunch. Perfect for either a pit stop or a relaxing day.
S.
I went for brunch on a Sunday the morning after a friend's wedding. The staff were friendly and attentive. I'm a vegetarian and I had a roll with potato scone and avocado and it might be the best brunch I've ever eaten!
K. H.
Great visit 6 months ago, went again Oct 2022 and service was a bit grumpy, coffees were cold (replaced when point it out to be fair) but the food was cold, felt to awkward to point that out to finahed and left, we d really raved about this place then it was so disappointing when we went back and took some one and told them how fav it was, for it to be sub par :(
V. D.
Popped in here on a Tuesday night for drinks and food. Had previously been here for drinks at the weekend. Both experiences were good.
Food menu is small but interesting and all the dishes were of a good standard.
Ambience has nice buzz without being too loud.
Location is easy to get to and can form part of a great pub crawl!!
P.
Amazing cocktails and vibe. I would highly recommend it!
G. C.
If you're looking for a cosy place to have breakfast/brunch/lunch, this is the one. All food in general is delicious (specially the chicken souvlaki) but we prefer to pop in for breakfast. Best pancakes I've had in a long time!
A. E.
Tasty coffee and cakes 🍰
E. M.
Visited with frienda for brunch after staying overnight in Glasgow for a concert at the hydro. Off street parking is free at the weekends.
I love how this ex pub has kept its old style features inside and out but also feels modern and contemporary.
Really friendly and attentive staff. Good brunch menu from porridge, poached eggs, pancakes or full breakfast etc. Would highly recommend to anyone.
P. Y.
A great place with really nice staff and a well thought out menu, the drinks list is good and comprehensive.Hope to be going back soon.
S. D.
A lovely place to spend several hours eating and drinking (and in my case working too)
D. L.
The bartenders are magnificent! Thank you for all the scotch cocktails! Best cocktail bar in Glasgow (rated by me).
T. G.
Fab place in finneston casual chic , nice cocktails, can get busy do book table to make it easy
H. M.
Food was much better than expected ( based on the reviews) . Dog friendly and very friendly people.
P. M.
Quiet and cosy, with excellent selection of expertly made drinks and cocktails.
S.
Food was brilliant. Rebel Red beer is delicious.
N. T.
Great brunch dishes and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend!
J. C.
The Kelvingrove is a charming café/bar with charming staff and a delightful cocktail menu. I visited a few times during a recent stay in Glasgow and each time I found the service to be exceptional. The food is gastro style but with some individual/local flair, and quite tasty. Cocktails menu is quite extensive, with something to suit every taste. And there are beers and ciders so if you are lucky enough to catch some rare Glaswegian sunshine, you can enjoy your drink outside 🥂
K. D.
Nice place to go! Kind staff nice food! Highly recommened it!
A. B.
We come to KC every year when we paint at the yardworks event down the road. The brunch is incredible. A must visit place when staying in the area. We can't fault it.
M. W.
Good atmosphere and tasty cocktails. I will be back!
K.
Great atmosphere, friendly service and subtlety flavoured carefully crafted cocktails.
M. H.
Very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere very relaxed surroundings
c. c.
Such a great inside. Very busy but it never feels over crowded. Roaring fire as well. Lovely place for a drink on the evening
D. T.
Delicious! Really nice vibe and amazing food. Dog friendly too!🐾
K. B.
Food was good, we had dishes with poached eggs. Nice environment other than the surly waitress who was very short with us and snapped for us to remove our masks. Not a great first dining experience in Glasgow unfortunately.
R. “. S.
This pub is open late and has good cocktails, and a more elegant feel. I came back for breakfast also, nice selection.
A. P.
Quite dirty, including glasses and cutlery. Service was poor including being overcharged for items not ordered or received.
A. S.
Nice drink selection, good food and very nice people working there.
H. D.
Really lovely staff. Great atmosphere. Just had morning coffee with family but had lovely chat with Richie Anderson from Radio 2. A lovely hour or two for morning coffee.
F. M.
5 star breakfast. Had the vegetarian breakfast which was delicious, hubby had the Eggs Benedict which looked amazing. Poached eggs were cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend 👌
J. S.
Only went in for a cocktail they have 14 on their list. Staff were very helpful despite it being very busy.
If going to visit recommend booking a table even if only having a cocktail as it gets very busy.
G. H.
Great selection of drinks on menu. Staff very friendly and will even make drinks not on the menu to suit your taste.
M. A.
Nice cocktails if I was down that way I'd definitely pop in
P. M.
Food was great. Service was really poor. Breakfast took 15/20 mins which was fine, but they failed to put through the order for soft drink. Ordered a beer which took 25 mins and me asking 4 times where the beer was. Barmaid took the beer off bill which was good. Hoping it was a one off!
P. K.
Really nice decor and cocktails. Service from the gentleman was a bit off otherwise good place to visit
K. G.
The best vegetarian breakfast in Glasgow. Hannah was so friendly today and really looked after us. Even our toddler was happy as she demolished her scrambled egg roll.
A. H.
Love love love this place. Just had the most fantastic cocktails (Mal)🍸 in the kelvingrove cafe. The place is amazing . The service is 5 star no wonder its so busy. I'll defo be back. Thank you
A. T.
Amazing service as always, staff couldn’t be more attentive ! Best cocktails in Glasgow and Kirsty is the cherry on top ! 🙌
L. A.
Popped in for a quick drink before dinner. The bar was busy but not overly crowded. Received a warm welcome on arrival and only had a short wait for a table. Good range of cocktails, well made. Just one person seemed to be working the bar area so some aspects of service were slow but didn't detract from our visit. Will come back again for a longer visit.
M. C.
Awesome brunch and coffee. Great service in a lovely atmosphere.
C. B.
Had a very tasty brekkie here. The food was fantastic, coffee amazing, the building itself is really nice and the staff picked up our moods at the start of the day. If I'm in town again, I know where I'm going.
J. L.
Great bar, fabulous cocktails!! I have only been in for a drink, look forward to going back to sample the food!
K. C.
Food and drink fine. I ordered a margarita which I have to say was way to small for a tenner. However the thing that let the meal down was the salads. Bits of rocket flung together. Not worth it
N. G.
Lovely atmosphere overly generous portions of truly delicious food. Breaks my heart to see plates returned to kitchen with food as just too much
C. W.
I've been here twice, on consecutive summer trips to Glasgow. The first time was very quiet lunch hour for soup and coffee, and the second was a bustling Friday night. Each time, the staff were ridiculously friendly and helpful, and especially on this most recent visit, the chicken salad was one of the tastiest meals I've had in recent memory. Perfectly cooked and seasoned skin-on, bone-in portion, with a vibrant mix of refreshing flavors underneath. I'm trying to experience different places while I'm here, but am tempted to just go there every night! Decor + Vibe also great.
P. S.
The visit was for brunch rather than for cocktails. The food was good and the service was swift and friendly. The place suffered a bit by being a bar and it felt like a bar rather then a cafe. A bit of lightening up would be a step forward. However, this is a nice place for a nice bite with good service.
K. S.
Lovely place for brunch. My partner and I had the Stornoway eggs, cappuccinos and freshly squeezed orange juice. Excellent food, drink and service.
E. D.
Beautiful bar! The staff were delightful and very attentive! The place is dog friendly and gas a great atmosphere, will definitely be returning!
I. S.
Coffee was great, waited an hour and a half gor breakfast that didn't come. Regardless. Its a lovely wee place.
Bloody Mary was also tasty.
R. P.
I love this cafe. Ham and cheese croissant was great and so was the fruit with yoghurt. The daily juice was delicious too. Staff were super nice. Next time I stay in Glasgow I will go for drinks. Cool decor.
E. G. F.
Even though the place was not full not busy, the waiting time was excessive. We also had to chase a waitress to take our order. However the food was delicious, can't complain there.
S. R.
Not cheap but groovy cafe bar.
M. J.
Great little cocktail bar with chilled and friendly staff. Nice drinks in a cool place.
A.
Overpriced for what you get. The food is nice and the drinks are good but the portion sizes are very small and you need quite a few to fill you up. The charcuterie board was very disappointing for the price. They have a varied cocktail menu with some alternative cocktails.
B. P.
One of my favorite places for breakfast. Great food, friendly people. We're from Kansas City and have been there four times in a week. My wife says the Reuben sandwich she had for lunch was the best one ever.
A. P.
Lovely atmosphere. Great staff. And must to try super 🥗.
J. P.
Lovely environment, had a great breakfast with delicious food. Coffee a little weak and the service was slow because it only seemed to be one person running up and down to the kitchen but the sausage and black pudding more than made up for it.
L. R.
Really enjoyable night. Great location. Great venue and lovely cocktails. It can get quite busy so pre book
l. b.
Decent food but mediocre service and lukewarm coffee - could have just been a bad day. Portions are quite small too.
L. B.
Great atmosphere and amazing cocktails. One of my favourite places in finneston.
A. B.
A place where you'll be pleased all day and night. Great drinks & food! Spent there almost every night on my stay! You can't do wrong paying them a visit 😉 Order the oysters!
C. S.
What a fantastic place. First time out since lockdown & had such a lovely time. Staff are amazing, so friendly. Everything in place to make you feel safe & the food was lovely.
Highly recommended
G. M.
Food fab staff amazing
B. L.
We "visited" that bar yesterday, Saturday the 27th, 1 Scottish amd 2 French men, Relaxed atmosphere with a very good standard. The waitresses made it very comfortable with a nice human touch! I have not asked their names, sorry I am not able to tell their names...
If I lived in Glasgow I would go back there often...
M. M.
Fabulous aperitif before dinner with friends❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
B. M. F.
Wonderful food and drink selection, reasonably priced .... And an even better staff! We returned a second night during our trip because the staff was so accommodating. Great find amidst a few fussier restaurants on the street.
K. M.
A great cool place. Good service and atmosphere
N. H.
Excellent and quaint. Good food. And price was good. Staff very friendly and in a great location.
T. T.
Staff were excellent especially Michaela. Soup was not the best but the scottish breakfast was great
J. A.

I'd been to Kelvingrove Cafe once before, a few months ago and had a great time, but had forgotten it's name so it was by happy coincidence that this was where the ladies and I chose for our first stop on our wee Glasgow nightlife tour. To be honest I think we started with the best. The place was full when we arrived, but the lovely server took our contact details and said she would let us know when a table was free, though it might be 40 minutes. Turns out we were in luck and 5 minutes later we had our booth by the window. Perfect! Now I recognised the place, there was only one thing on the menu I was having-the 3 sliders!! The other three chose the same, and with a pick of 9 to choose from, we pretty much covered them all. My out and out winner was undoubtedly the lamb with goats cheese and aubergine compote though Alex preferred her lobster with cocktail sauce, the pulled pork burger was also a winner. They were definitely filling enough, with a side of truffled fries (hell yes! ).
I can't remember which cocktails the others had but there were certainly no complaints, and my Barrel Old Fashioned was one of the best I've ever had.
Cool atmosphere, buzzing, really friendly and helpful attentive staff - 10/10 would go back. I'd probably walk back to Glasgow from Edinburgh for another of those lamb burgers.
S. W.
Great cocktails, really friendly and knowledgeable staff. Always love a visit here
E. A.
Great food, great cocktails, friendly staff and an awesome vibe - so glad we stopped in for light bites and some drinks. Definitely recommend the 'The Whisky Nut' if you're looking for a drink to share which is smooth, smokey, sweet, malty and delicious!
J. M.
Upmarket with plenty of ice chiseling skills to be shown. Cocktails seem to be on the more bitter/medicinal end of the scale - but just how we used to like em, eh? Takes you back to a past era - in a good way. Service was spot on. No time for food when pretending to be in Mad Men.
L. H.
Dog and family friends. Excellent service and lovely staff too. Food was brilliant. Can't wait to come back next time with my dog.
A. V.
My friend and I found this great cafe while looking for breakfast on a Sunday morning having found most other ‘recommended’ cafes not yet open...
What a great find - the coffee is terrific, (our flat whites just the right texture, temperature and great flavour), and the breakfast was fast, fresh and delicious (we both had scrambled eggs and nice bacon, with avocado/roasted tomato sides).
We would definitely be back there in a flash when next in Glasgow.
K. R.
Family and dog friendly, fantastic drinks and brunch menu, exceptional and friendly service! Food was fantastic! Can’t wait to visit again!
n. /. a.
awesome place to stay for a couple of drinks and a brilliant meal. super nice staff as well.

Brunch is always great, hits the spot. Banging benny and would also recommend the cheesy bacon and eggs on sourdough.
J.
Had a lovely vegan breakfast in this cafe with a vegetarian friend. We both really enjoyed our food.
C. E.
What an unexpected surprise. 22 year old benriach. 🙂
R. M.
One of my favourite bars in Glasgow. Great choice of spirits, churros with truffles and goats cheese might sound peculiar but do try it, it'll tickle your taste buds like nothing has before
J.
Good music, a decent mix of it. Good beers wines and cocktails, reasonably priced. Friendly staff, a good interior over 2 floors (upstairs is best) with a fire.
Can also go for food which I'd definitely recommend
R. K.
Great service,good food!
S.
Really nice bar, relaxed atmosphere, great service.
F. S.
Perfect for laptop users such as students. Lovely place that allowed me to drink and work on my laptop for hours. The have sockets under the tables which is a great feature.
V.

E. W.
Nice place with a cosey area...prices are v expensive for drinks ,bar staff were friendly and attentive ...lighting bit dim..The lovely warm fire made up for it. I would recommend
M. S.
Food took quite a while to be delevered, but staff were polite and good atmos.
B. C.
Great food. Friendly staff. Really nice place.
R. M.
Ordered something not on the menu and it wasn't a problem for them, great service.
A little on the pricey side for my liking but if it's your thing I would recommend it.
G. R.
Group of seven Friday night . Food excellent service 2nd to none. Kirsty runs the place and does a fantastic job despite the number of people to deal with. Recommend as great atmosphere too.
C.
Really enjoyed brunch here! First visit.
Food hot and tasty, service quick and friendly. What more could you ask for?
J. G.
I like the location and the tables, but the service is VERY slow, I've been three times now all for different times of the day. Getting the bill will take you an age, no amounts of eye contact, waving or directly asking will move the process along.
If you are happy to wait a long time for drinks, food or the bill then it's still a lovely experience and I go back, but it's amazing how small things can really change an simple interaction to an excruciating time-wasting exercise.
E. B.
Food was good, small menu. The mushrooms on toast were good but too salty. Quite an expensive place so be prepared.
J. M.
Nice friendly bar staff 🙂 Will be back the next time I in Glasgow
B. J.
Great place for a cocktail
L. W.
Bit pricey and slow on service but drinks and staff were nice
B. L.

S. G.
We were in for breakfast and had a great time. I recommend the chorizo hash. The staff were great to chat with and I can't wait to come back.
T. S.
Nice staff and service. Dogs welcome also.
W. Q.
Menu print is like a fine print, environment is too dark to read anything on the menu. However, the breakfast is good.
T. M.
Best French toast I've ever had!
e.
Great cozy cafe, as a solo traveler it’s one of the best places to just sit and have a coffee or glass of wine. Food is a bit expensive though.
M. C.
Bfast? Bslow... 45 mins for avo on toast, but like just an avocado cut in half on bread. Nice place though. Sound staff. Bad bslow. I'd come for a drink.
d. d.
It's ok . Pricey and a little poncey
T. W.
Straight up one of the best bars Glasgow has to offer. Friendly, knowledgeable, and with a good atmosphere and drinks list.

J. C.
Went for drinks and service was great and really hospitable. Will definitely be back!

Came here for lunch, food and service very good. However, I had the squid and the portion was extremely tiny. Don't think it was worth the price.
V. M.

Closed at the minute, for (dubious) refurbishment reasons, but I've heard it's due to open again soon.
The mac 'n' cheese is to die for! It's a side order, but will do you for a main with a plate of chips!

(Translated) Quaint place, probably at its best in the evening. We, on the other hand, went in the middle of the morning to have a cooked breakfast, which we found completely satisfactory. The environment is peaceful and the staff welcoming. Worth a visit, if only for the decor.
