Lovely pub, friendly staff with great food. It has a cosy feel with real fire place and the new manager is getting the place even more welcoming to dogs! They’ll be launching a dog menu very soon, very excited to bring my pup to try it!

The staff were very helpful and respectfully came over to ask if you were ok and if you wanted anything else. The food was great. I had fish and chips, followed by my favourite sticky toffee pudding with a dollop of ice cream yum yum. I would definitely be recommend the Old Gatehouse to everyone.

The service was terrific. Sam and Rachel were extremely nice polite and helpful and had quick service. Sid was the best, he was so so nice, extremely polite and friendly and was on hand for anything we needed. He helped make my mums birthday very special and it will be one we will always remember. The food was terrific and we all loved it and would return. However I just want to make another mention about Sid as he was honestly the nicest server I or any of us have ever had. He helped make the night truly special so thank you.

I liked the decor in the bar and the service was really nice and relaxed. My son and I had cycled up the nearby Strathkelvin Cycle Path which takes us out at Woodilee and I had promised my son I would get him his first steak as he wanted to try it. He enjoyed it and I had a coffee but just because I had already had lunch and am trying to watch my diet at the moment otherwise I would have had soup or a prawn cocktail. It was really nice and we will definitely return.

My sister and I came for a spontaneous breakfast date this morning and thoroughly enjoyed our food which was perfectly cooked and great value for money. From the minute we entered I loved it! The staff are SO nice and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The courses were swift but not rushed. The meal was plentiful and tasted lovely. I've never eaten out for Xmas but I was blown away with this experience, well done guys and thankyou again.

The food was good, as always. The bar was noisy (very loud children on next table. However, the server (Sid) was excellent. He was professional, helpful, attentive and simply fun. He is an absolute star for your venue and made our evening!

There were 7 of us plus out dog for my mother-in-law's 98th birthday. The service from Sid was exceptional. Way above and beyond. He was very kind, friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble for him. The food itself was generally good, but the evening was made a more special experience because of Sid's attention. Great place to eat and as they are dog friendly the whole family can go. They now have a full dog menu which is great whereas before we just used to get him a chicken breast - their menu is now almost as good as ours. Well done for making a fabulous family friendly restuarant

The Old Gatehouse is tastefully decorated, spacious and has good wheelchair access. Service was excellent particularly from Kevin. The choice of starters on the lunch menu was a bit limited but what we chose was tasty and well presented.

Booked a table 1pm for lunch with my friend. Staff very cheery and friendly on arrival. Had two courses from the main menu rather than the lunch menu. Plenty choice main menu, found lunch menu not enough choice and nothing suited to me. Informed by staff no fish on menu today. Both courses were nice, just feel main course could have been a bit hotter. Other than no fish and main course not been hot enough, an excellent wee afternoon

Service was fantastic, really cheery and pleasant, food was delicious. Favourites were the rotisserie chicken, very good sized portions, and the cauliflower wings starter was a revelation! The decor is really lovely inside and there is a lovely outside eating area. Toilets were spotless, always important and a good measure of a place. It was busy at lunchtime but it didn't feel crammed, tables were well spaced out and you couldn't hear the next table's conversation which was good. Will definitely recommend and return.

Went down today with my wife for a wee late afternoon meal sun shining bar staff always friendly beer guaranteed We both had the sirloin steak. Everything on the plate was lovely unfortunately both our medium rare steaks were so tough we couldn't chew it the knife struggled to cut it and it had as much fat as meat. That's the reason for the 3 stars First time I've been disappointed by the old gate house food. Didn't complain first bad meal and the guys that run the place are too nice

My partner and I were here on 18/5/22 and while here he became really unwell and passed out. (Hes made a full recovery) The staff were amazing couldn't do enough to help us also one of the customers a lovely man who was there with his wife and granddaughter came to help (didn't get his name). Three of us arrived for dinner at 7.15. The restaurant was fairly busy for a midweek night. We all had different starters and main courses and we enjoyed all of them. Food was tasty but the service was poor as waited 40 minutes for our food. If it wasnt for the fact we were there to surprise someone we would have walked. Wasn't overly busy, maybe 8 or nine tables in a large area and all were the same, waiting and wondering what was happening. Couldn't get an answer to the reason why and no explanation offered when food finally arrived. Presume it was a staff shortage as didnt see more than two staff members in the room. A simple explanation that there may be a delay would have made a difference to the experience and I would have rated higher.

Update - Menu changed so might be less variety than there was before Update 11 Nov 19 Food luke warm, chips dry , hard and luke warm. Not very tasty. Halloumi Burger not great like before. classic burger just ok. Fajita burger just ok. Was a birthday treat. Hope they do better next time. Didn't bother with pudding after the main as not good enough with what we had. Could have been much warmer as fire wasnt on but it was quiet but still it was cold inside and food slow to come out. Will return again as quite nicely decorated and was good before so will try once again in future. Service was very friendly

The service was very good, and the waiters were friendly. One of our party took some time to decide what she wanted, only to be told that her final choice was not available. It would have been helpful to have been told that up front. As I am vegetarian, I had the roasted pepper tagliatelle It was not very warm, the garlic bread was barely toasted and the sauce was somewhat bland. Our dog was well catered for, however, with a bowl of water and a few gravy bones.

Really good. Food was delicious. Wait for food was quite long but in fairness we did come in after 4pm so probably quite a quiet time normally so likely very few in the kitchen. Sid was on his own at front of house but did very well - he was very friendly and helpful.

I met a friend for lunch who I hadn't seen for a while so lots of catching up to do. Our server Sid struck the perfect balance of being attentive without being pushy. We asked for a break between courses - not a problem, he asked if we wanted more drinks when we were almost empty. A charming and very engaging person who gives his customers a great experience. We ended up overstaying our allocated booking time by quite some way again not a problem and we overall had a lovely afternoon catching up with our news. Our food was lovely. My friend enjoyed her chicken tikka masala and I had goats cheese lasagne which was tasty but was a bit lukewarm rather than hot in the middle. Not enough of a problem to complain but maybe just make sure it has the full time required in the oven. A perfect day out and walking distance from my home so ideal for me and my family.

Firstly, we have to mention Sid. The service he delivered was outstanding. Entertaining (without being intrusive) and knowledgeable, couldn't have done more to make our first visit enjoyable. Food was lovely, fish was monstrously big and meaty. I had no room for dessert but I'm assured by family that the chocolate melt thing and sundaes were fabulous. Did I mention Sid? Fairly typical pub grub menu. It was busy when we were there and our party included three children. Welcome was friendly and helpful. Order was taken quite quickly but several items were not available which we weren't told until we ordered. However reasonable alternatives were offered. Service was excellent and after a short delay in getting the starters delivered everything went like clockwork. Staff were excellent during what was a very busy time for them. Food was well presented and was reasonably priced. If pub grub is what you are after then The Old Gatehouse is definitely worth a try.

Sid was professional, super attentive, friendly, and more than made up for slightly slow service from the kitchen with his infectious personality. Food when it came was good. Ive said this on feedback before that Syd really is an asset to your business, attentive and has a rapport with customers, children, and their pets too. Can't fault the lad, really made my granddaughter feel special for her 4th birthday, as well as my other two grandkids. Praise to all other staff too, great job. We also had dinner and drinks, the night before. We are locals and lucky to have this facility close to us, its a 10 minute walk to get there, and can be 15 mins return journey, depending on how many drinks are had lol

Good food for a fair price. I don't go at peak times so it's never busy but I would expect that it gets extremely busy at peak times. Only slight gripe i have is the Pepsi is really just black water but that could be said for most juice on tap in a pub or restaurant.

Service once again absolutely superb as Lindsey ensured everything spot on and nothing whatsoever any trouble, despite restaurant bustling on this Sunday afternoon. Being allergic to dog hair didn't help my friend & made our lunch unpleasant, I do understand it increases business due to many dog owners in Lenzie but don't understand the need to eat out with ur pet ! We rang and booked a table and they were very helpful and when we got there the customer service from start to finish was excellent our server Sid was very helpful and friendly and professional from start to finish he was interactive towards the 2 children and the adults too as it was our grandson and son birthday's we had a cake for them and Sid brought it out and got the whole pub singing happy birthday which was a great touch you have definitely got a great staff member with your team the meal and drinks were great as well we live in England but when we come visit family we always come here.

Had a lovely saturday lunch with my sister niece son and his girlfriend. My son booked for 2pm and we had table to 3.30 ample time. Warm welcome, instructions explained well, hygiene standards excellent. Social distance rules strictly adhered to. When we asked for extension waiter went and checked came back and told us yes but we would have to move to a different location. No problem. Food was lovely. I would highly recommend this place

Great warm, friendly place with well arranged COVID-19 preparations (reduced seating and booking system, introduction and explanation at the door with hand gel, One way system etc). Plenty of wide parking spaces, well lit and easy to find. Staff were great throughout from booking to payment. Food is great, well cooked and tasty with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Great wee play park for the kids too!

Waiting and front of house staff appear inexperienced but they were friendly enough. I made the big mistake of going on a Saturday night when it was packed to bursting because there are so few options nearby. Parking is excellent and it's very easy to find. Next time I will go mid-week instead.

Great pub with a wide range of meal choices including vegetarian and vegan. I visited at lunchtime an a Friday and it was really busy, despite this the service was friendly and efficient. The girl who served us was friendly and unphased when the card payment machine was playing up and quickly fixed it. I was there with my parents and 5 month old daughter. A space was found for the buggy and I was made to feel it was no problem. We ate the vegetable jalfrezi, ham egg and chips and the 1/2 chicken with sauce and 2 sides. I went for dinner and non alcoholic drink. None of the staff were wearing a mask cause of covid19. The bar staff were not social distancing or server. The man who greeted us and took details from us, never stood 2 metres away. Also seen him chatting too staff and guests without social distancing! Had too open exit door to go out, even though everybody else touched it. Seen staff holding glasses coming in from outside, passing close too everybody in queue on way in. No masks or gloves. I visited here for the first time today whilst out on a dog walk with my partner and german shepherd. I was pleasantly surprised. We were shown to our table and the barman brought over a bowl of fresh water for our dog and told us to help ourselves to the jar of dog treats at the window. We didn’t order food this time just drinks but we will deff be back in future to try the food. Great wee place to take your dog as they have dog friendly areas within the restaurant.

I have been to The Old Gatehouse 5 times now. The 1st time was 20th November 2017, this was the opening night,the food was lovely but the service was dismal however as it was the 1st night I thought that this was to be expected. My next 2 visits the food was good but again service was poor. Next visit was lunchtime on 22nd December with work colleagues again food was good although wrong orders were delivered to the table service was chronic with tables not being cleared in between courses and it appeared that although there were sufficient staff they appeared to be badly organised. I again visited tonight 31st December, food was again good and service had improved although I did not get fries I had ordered. I have not been put off by the ups and downs on my previous visits and hope they continue to improve.

The old gatehouse was a huge disappointment when it first opened, However it has improved largely since it opened and the staff have got a lot more experience. The only thing I would change is do away with the table service side of things it makes it feel more like a restaurant and it's really just pub food. I would also do away with table bookings as on several visits I've seen many tables reserved for hours with no one using them (again it's a pub) Also avoid the breakfast/brunch menu it's awful
