Scotland doesn't have "dive bars" or "ruin bars" but if it did then Old Hairdresser's would be one. Barely decorated Bohemian look and graffitied toilets adds to the charm of one of Glasgow's trendiest bars. A decent selection of draft beers at decent price makes this a decent bar, although the high ceiling can make it chilly in the winter

Hidden away between Hope Street and Renfield Street down the cobbled Renfield Lane, the Old Hairdressers has always been somewhat of a refuge for us. We always seem to head there when it's raining but then again that could simply be coincidental with the Glasgow weather. The bar based on two open levels is a great place to have a chilled out drink, but the bar itself doesn't seem to take itself too seriously which is great and feels kind of kitsch decorated with B-movie posters of times gone past. The Old Hairdressers have even played into this theme which is awesome by having a Trash cinema night where cheesy, much loved or maybe not so well known cult movies are screened up the stairs, up the stairs. We caught Sonny Chiba in Street Fighter in August, and I'd recommend getting there for the pre screen trailers as the advisory guidelines on how to conduct yourself and the crew you're with was hilarious. There's also sweeties and popcorn included with your Trash cinema ticket - it's a good laugh.

As expected, lots of aging coiffeuse. However, nice atmosphere, wine and not too busy, even got a cut and colour while I was there.

It's alright average pub, place not bad but not wow, I would stop again for a drink, toilets really need total refurbishment

Decent enough place, quite hipster. Not too painfully cool. Decent range of drinks and enough space to chat. The music is good and not too loud. Dog-friendly. The toilets are away downstairs and not the worst, but not the best you will encounter. There is a small venue, too.

One of the best pubs in town and my first choice to go to. The bar is small, but the space is quite large with the upstairs sitting and fantastic little venue on the second floor. The staff are super friendly artists, musicians and interesting young people. The music is good, the place attracts mainly a non-mainstream crowd.

Lovely little venue in Glasgow city centre, not to far a walk from Glasgow Central. Whilst I was there for a gig, I think it would be nice place for casual drinks any time of the week. Good drinks and fair prices, nice atmosphere. The gig was good too, very personal venue. Main issues were the lack of men's toilets, there was only really one room with one toilet bowl in it which created quite the queue during intervals.

Has got better with age this place. Was a bit rough and ready when first opened a few tears ago but really has bloomed into a nice place to not only grab a drink but also watch weird and wonderful music. Only downside is the staff could learn to be a bit friendlier. They were not rude but bit too aloof for working in a bar. Sorry guys.

This pub is like a step back in time, but the right way. Again the taster ale measures were huge, the atmosphere was warm, and this place hidden away just outside the centre is a proper watering hole for people that like their pubs with a bit of character. I feel you could people watch here for a while and you might just get invited to join the conversation. Four real ales on was also a welcome surprise too.

Fuss-free, cosy and straight forward wee bar playing good music and hosting gigs and occasional festivals. Although there's a very limited variety of bevarages, it's just perfect if you want to just have a beer and enjoy conversation and music without having to scream over loud music. True community spirit and indie vibes.

One thing is hipster minimalism and another is doing things on the cheap. This place walks a fine line between the two and reminds me of junk shop chic bars in Berlin or Brighton. The difference here is, they haven't bothered to give it any quirkiness beyond a poster in French and dangling lightbulbs. It's ok but with a limited drink selection and a Sarajevo under siege atmos, you're better off in Stereo, the sister bar over the street.
