Reviews of Ubiquitous Chip
A. C.
Amazing restaurant with friendly, attentive and informative waiting staff. Lovely atmosphere and absolutely delicious food cooked to perfection. Not to mention the unique and lovely cocktails! I don't tend to spend very much on food nor eat out often, but this place, despite being a little above my range, was worth every penny!!
A. D.
If you are looking for a treat then you can not go wrong here, great space and the staff so friendly. We had the tasting menu £65pp so not cheap but it was a treat and the food did not disappoint. Very creative, looked amazing and tasted delightful.
M. K.
It's a trendy restaurant near the University of Glasgow. The bartender and staff are very friendly and helpful. We had the scallops and celeriac for starters. The rib eye and the trout for dinner. They also have variety of Scotish whiskey. We didn't have reservations, but we came early enough. Suggest making a reservation.
D. N.
Have to look for it, down a side street, but worth the hunt. Roasted lamb and baked cod. Sounds simple but, prepared to perfection. Great wine list and desserts. Upstairs is casual dining and downstairs is more fine dining. We had mussels from the upstairs menu for a starter, entrees from downstairs. Kitchen closes from 3-4 pm, so plan.
N. M.
It's been over 5 years since we last dined here and I'm pleased to report it's still as good as ever. The food is excellent as is the service. We look forward to visiting again on our next visit to Glasgow.
G. M.
Nice posh restaurant. Service was absolutely brilliant, food is prepared in a timely manner and it was really tasty. Definitely recommended, just be aware of the prices.
D. G.
Beautiful restaurant, lovely atmosphere friendly staff and most importantly delicious food. The menu is smaller plates so order a few.
Also dog friendly
A. G.
Such a very beautiful place 😍, I liked it very much. They accepted us without any reservation, but it's better to call before going because the place works a lot. The service deserves five star. The food is very good. You ought to try. Totally suggested.
J. L.
Really tasty lunch at the Chip, venison haggis was a nice twist on the classic and the pork belly was delicious, not overly fatty like it can tend to be! Excellent service!
D. P.
Fantastic, everything was great in this restaurant, from the atmosphere to the food. Service was excellent and the food was good quality and original, at a reasonable price.
L. N.
This is really a hidden gem in the west end. Beautiful decor and atmosphere. Perfect for first dates, celebrations or just a date night. Food was abit pricey but worth it. Great selection of spirits and cocktails. The Staff are friendly and welcoming.
W. B.
Wow, I’m sure it will always be a treat kind of place the food was faultless - wine menu is too big for me even with the sommeliers help, I felt bamboozled.
Great atmosphere, I’m looking forward to trying other parts of the restaurent on future visits.
L.
Went there 3 years ago with my friends, wasn’t that much surprised to be honest. Although the decoration is very stunning, I don't think the quality of the food is worth the price. Hope they do a better job now.
J. F.
A true gem! We came here after our father remembered rhe place from the 80s. It was unique than and now is only better: worth a trip from the US
The food was exquisite with refined tastes!
Excellent service
Can’t wait to come back
E.
The food was AMAZING. Best food I had in a long time. The haggis, superb. My server, Jay, was so personable and kind. This was my first time in Glasgow and he gave me great recommendations on their menu and about other places and restaurants to visit. In summary: fantastic food, fantastic service!
A. R.
My Steak was cooked to perfection 👌🏿 green pesto potatoes complimented very well. Can't fought it all all. Thanks to the young Lady who waited on us on Saturday 27th!
C. H.
Small starters for the scallops and smoked salmon. Potatoes side was good. Waitstaff was excellent!
J.
Wonderful place, very good service and great meals.

Dining at the Chip is always a delight. The food is fabulous - the dishes are complex and interesting, without being too forced or experimental. The wine list is formidable and the Austrian wine that we eventually chose was excellent. The service as usual was as it always has been - attentive and professional but not over-the-top or invasive. And finally, that special Chip atmosphere that pervades over time - something to do with the design of the interior - the high ceiling perhaps or the distinctive decor? You feel at ease, able to laugh out loud - it's that unique, very special, and always memorable Ubiquitous Chip experience!
g. o.
Sorry guys - good food but just not good value. We had the tasting menu - one meat and one veggie and whilst my wood pigeon was really really good, it is a bit difficult charging 65 quid for broccoli and onion. We ate locally on the Saturday and paid about 40% of the cost in the Chip and were more excited by the food. Couldn't fault the service, your staff were great and as I said at the start, food was good but didn't blow us away. Maybe we expected too much.
H. H.
The food was delicious and well-presented. There just wasn't very much of it - the selection was limited and the portions were small and very expensive (and there were no chips, ubiquitous or otherwise). But if you understand that it's meant to be a fine dining establishment, it's a great place to go for a meal. Wonderful atmosphere.
k. c.
We have just enjoyed a fabulous dinner at the Chip (16th June). I had the Scallops, followed by the Borders lamb loin and the raspberry dessert. Amazing flavours and cooked perfectly. The Chip never disappoints. The service was excellent too. Our friends from Australia were inquisitive to know if The Chip had chips available - this wasn’t a problem and they were duly brought a bowl of chips, which they enjoyed.
A.
Really amazing space, the mezzanine looked so cool. Wine from Austria was so tasty and the vegetarian tasting menu was great! The duck egg and truffle custard and the smoked cauliflower were the highlights with only the celeriac dish missing the mark for me.
B. M.
Lovely setting and superb food from ones of Glasgows finest establishments. Menu was great with some very inventive dishes show casing great scottish ingredients.
C. D. L. H.
High level of cuisine. Everything was in s high level of quality and flavour.
Highly recommended
E. U.
Been here many a time for boozy Sundays, went to their wine tastings many moons ago. The odd dinner here and there over the years. But haven't been for a good long while. Then was celebrating a special someone's birthday and wanted to go to a place that I'd loved in the past so had to be The Chip. Made the celebration more memorable, an enjoyable night, steaks were fab puddings to die for and service like the wine was impeccable. Won't leave it so long xxx
I. M.
The Chip happily, and comfortably, accommodated us (a party of 8) for lunch. Staff were very kind and polite. I had the delicious venison haggis, neeps and tatties followed by the chocolate tart. I would highly recommend.

A lovely restaurant in the centre of Glasgow. Situated in what is now a relatively trendy area this aesthetically pleasing cosy restaurant is a delight to the eyes as well as the pallet. The food is perfect and the waiters knowledgeable and helpful. I’m quite picky about food and I found this place just right for everything. The menu is not too expensive and the food is prepared well. There is parking (fee payable) for the restaurant in the nearby University car park. The ground floor is accessible for wheelchairs. Although if you are able bodied you must go at night and sit in the mezzanine!
H. G.
Always the best place to relax and catch up with friends. Glasgow institution. Knowledgeable and friendly bar staff. Can't ask for more other than I command that all the punters should be older than me .... err am I just getting too old... no need to answer thanks, brilliant in every way, love here
S. M.
Have been going to Chip for 35 years, always loved it, great staff, setting, food and wine. But the last two times I've been, there has been unpleasantly loud background music. On both occasions I asked for it to be turned down (and staff were very obliging and did so). The music is unnecessary and disappointing, spoils the atmosphere (otherwise soothing and peaceful). Please reconsider having background music.
A. L.
Favourite night spot for a Fri Sat night drink pre-covid, hasn't changed a bit. Still great atmosphere, great range of drinks (I'm not a gin drinker, but The Botanist is an awesome gin!). And the barman is still one of the most awesome people on the planet, see the photo for just one of his tricks.
Hugely recommended visiting if you are in the Ashton Lane area!
j.
Great decoration, a bit too pricey for what you get. You can immediately tell the Rib Eye is the same size and taste you get from a good supermarket, except charged 4 times the price. One would expect a presumptuous place to at least cut it own steaks
K. K.
One of the best restaurant in Glasgow. Always come here for a special meal. Amazing food!
C. A.
Every part of the ubiquitous chip is really cool and well run. We got drinks on the rooftop, then came back for dinner, where we got a cocktail in one of the bars while we waited for our table. Every part of the service, from food to staff, was impeccable. The restaurant is also spectacularly pretty. Would love to come back!
M. R.
Excellent meal. The haggis bun was fabulous. Probably one of the best desserts I've ever had -- the honey ice cream. Reasonably priced and great service.
H. D.
Absolutely wonderful dinner alongside fantastic staff. Couldn't recommend our visit any more highly.
The scallops with roast corn broth were the highlight of my night.
R. B.
Welcoming atmosphere all year round, recommend coming on a Sunday if you want a relaxing aperitif in a chilled environment 👍
R. R.
I can't find any fault with the place. Lovely dining settings surrounded by exotic plants, impressive bar with ample selection of beers on tap & wines. You can choose between the brasserie or the restaurant and both menus are equally good. I tried the food at the brasserie and the flavour of the dishes blew me away. Modern presentation with immense amount of flavour. I highly recommend to give this place a visit.
T. Z.
Delicious food, great service and great atmosphere. Everything was cooked to perfection and interesting combination of ingredients. The haggis was so good, has been a recipe there since inception.
A. S. B.
It was overall very good, tasty food. As they don't follow the classic starter/main structure, it would have been helpful to have more guidance in the menu and by the waiter about the size of the food portions, as the volume varied significantly between different dishes.
J. B.
This is one of my all time favourite places. Plus its the same vintage as me ('71 Woo Hoo 🥳).
Really can't fault the place . . . but, what did they do to the decor? Slightly soul destroying 80's vibe post lockdown going on. Please bring back the coal scuttle seat, church pew, brass mirror and the old vibe.
I'll still be a loyal customer, just disappointed every time i visit.
Staff and service are excellent as always.
Reluctantly taking star off until someone sees sense and restores the original atmosphere.
R. E.
Food was lovely, service was great as well
A tad on the pricy side but wasn't expecting a cheap meal given the quality
S. E.
Just the best restaurant I've ever eaten in. Everything was superb. Food. Atmosphere. Service. Fully deserving of being one of Glasgow's top places to eat.
A. L.
You wouldn’t expect such a nice place judging from such an unassuming outside. The restaurant is lovely and somehow reminded me of the Bluebird in Chelsea, with tropical vegetation inside, giving dinners more privacy. We tried the à la carte menu and had a delicious Sunday roast with gorgeous wine. It’s not cheap but very decently priced given the quality. We enjoyed our meal very much and were well taken care of by a friendly waitress.
C. C.
I have been in this bar with various friends over the years and I have never had any complaints. The security staff have never behaved negatively towards me. Even during busy periods I have always been served in a timely fashion and there is a great choice of malts, bourbons and other spirits. I love the décor too.
P. H.
The setting was very quaint, and the food was good. But the service marred our visit. We were seated in a cold drafty area. Once we placed our order, we were forgotten. After putting on our coats and reading books for 15 minutes, I finally went to the waitress station to pay the bill. We were disappointed.
B. N.
such a vibrent place with amazing food and freindly staff. We went to Brasserie, the whole place was filled with good vibes. We had fish sharing platter which was amazing!!!!! and price is reasonalby cheap!! one of the best place in Glasgow I have bee in so far!!!! .Defenitely visit again.Highly recommend to anyone who simply wants to have good time!!
C. H.
Nice place for drinks with a great food offering available in it's fine dining restaurants. Lovely roof top terrace to take in the occasional nice weather in Glasgow.
B. K.
Absolutely amazing food!! So delicious
The staff were very friendly and efficient too, will definitely go again
J. M.
Incredible service, delicious food, wonderful atmosphere. Had an amazing dinner out for my husband's birthday. The staff were brilliant, helping us choose what wines would go with our food. Asked specifically if we had any dietary requirements before the meal as well so they could cater for these if needed. Couldn't recommend going out for dinner here highly enough!
L. M.
Delicious food, we ate upstairs so it's small plates. Great for sharing. Really friendly and helpful staff.
Y. Z.
My boyfriend and I came here for our first seated dining experience since the lockdown. We went with the tasting menu, which you need to prebook and prepay for £60 per person.
We wanted a local but somewhat special experience and I think it really hit the spot. It's located in a cute cobblestone street alley with plenty of parking just steps away. We were seated quickly and there were covid precautions for the staff, bathrooms, and menus. It was weird sitting in public again, but it didn't feel like we were too close to other patrons.
Food was pretty fantastic all around. Great portions, beautiful presentation, and very interesting and flavorful. The scallop was a favorite for both of us. The only misses were the pineapple granita palate cleanser (too sweet) and the dessert, which was very rich coming off of an already rich main course. Might be personal preference, but I don't enjoy a heavy and very sweet finish to tasting menus.
Overall we had a great time and would definitely come back.
R. S.
Delightful attrium garden type restaurant with friendly and efficient service. Maybe a little overpriced. Alice evening was had Bank Holiday weekend.
L. H.
Have been many times and never disappoints. Food consistently great and attentive staff. Definitely on the pricier side but you get what you pay for!
A. S.
I got a custom meal done specially by the chef according to my gluten free, vegetarian diet. The main dish was a roasted cauliflower with kale and mushrooms. Very tasty. My friend got the steak and he was happy with it too. The place is very cute with lots of green leaves and a running water pond. I recommend to call in advance for a booking because it is quite packed all the time.
H. S.
Great service. Fresh, modern menu. Lovely rooftop dining terrace. Excellent value.
R. F.
Celebration dinner here and it was a terrific choice! My food photographs tell the story 😊. Guinea fowl was an especially good surprise and I'll aspire to cook the ones I shoot in future to their standard! One disappointment was the scallops. They used to be from Islay I believe and these seemed to have less flavour and I also like them better when the roe is still attached. Overall a recommended place.
G. M.
What an absolute delight. Their 8 course tasting menu was sublime!!
J. N.
The restaurant setting and atmosphere is beautiful, lots of greenery and sunlight. The service was good too. We had the 3 course lunch menu for £24. Included complimentary bread and a pate which was nice. The food was presented really well, however nothing that was a standout in taste. The see bass entree was the best dish, but it still needed a bit of seasoning. The main Cod wasn't seasoned enough and it was quite bland. Our side broccoli were overlooked. The pannacotta dessert was chunky, not creamy and smooth. So overall it was a good lunch vibe, nice presentation but food is so so.
H. A.
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. Had no idea that this building housed so many bars- there are three- and different levels of seating in the restaurant. My daughter has a tree nut allergy and they printed a separate menu that has the main menu items but all prepared sans nuts. Just impeccable service and the food is fantastic. Wonderful meal. Expensive but worth it.
K.
Delicious hidden gem of Glasgow. Great ambiance, vast selection of wine (with a very knowledgeable member of staff who hosts a wine night) and delicious food. Definitely somewhere I would visit again, our favourite meal of the trip.
D. P.
Haven't been to this Glasgow Institution for years, but went all in on Saturday with friends. Nothing has changed , still great , compliments the Ashton Lane beautifully. Best whisky menu in Scotland after Amber Edinburgh.....
p. b.
Excellent service and delicious food. Great location just off Byres Road. Very close to a car park and the Subway.
C. V.
Lovely place if you’re in Glasgow. Surrounded by eateries and pubs, Ubiquitous Chip stands out for its remarkable food, wonderful ambience and lovely staff. The knowledgeable staff made excellent recommendations (to us and others we overheard) especially when it came to drink. A definite recommendation if you’re in Glasgow.
S. H.
A fine festive menu. Each course distinctive and delicious. The venison carpaccio so simply flavoursome. The Shetland cod meaty and satisfying. The pear trifle beautifully balanced. All enjoyed in a cosy and Christmasy setting. Dining here is always a treat.
J. M.
This is one of my favourite places now. I had never been before but went for my girlfriends birthday. So we got greeted at the door and taken to our table in the brasserie. Warm welcome and very attentive staff. For starter we shared a meat platter which had a selection of cooked meats, sauerkraut salad and mustard mayonnaise with lovely fresh sourdough bread. For my main I got Lamb shoulder with tabbouleh, tzatziki, baba ganoush with a rolled up piece of flat read which was to die for. Lamb was cooked perfectly and with all the flavours and textures in my mouth it was a meal I will never forget. My girlfriend got the roast chicken breast with poppy seed gnocchi and wild mushrooms which she described as incredible. Succulent chicken and just beautiful presentation. Then for dessert we got the chocolate barvois with gingerbread and blood orange gel. Perfect portion size and was nice and rich. Overall this was an amazing experience and will definitely be back soon. Thank you for making my girlfriends birthday meal one to remember!!
R. M.
I did some research before booking this restaurant and I’m glad I did. This place is a real popular place for locals and I can see why. The food was spot on and in a equally lovely setting. The staff are nice and the price was reasonable. Would definitely recommend on giving this place a try if visiting Glasgow.
A. M.
Wonderful service and wonderful atmosphere, there was evening a small wedding party leaving when we arrived. So sweet!
J. L.
Absolutely sublime. Start to finish this was just truly excellent. The service, the food, the wine, the decor and atmosphere. Absolutely top notch! Will be back when I come back up to Glasgow next year.
H. M.
Enjoyed my visit here as part of ‘The Wee Food Tour’ with Maddie. It has a beautiful interior very thought out. The food was excellent where I was served the best hummus I have ever tasted with local sourdough bread, whiskey infused Smoked Salmon with a dill purée and the. Two types of haggis with nips and tatties and smokies. Service was friendly and attentive and food was of excellent quality. I did think the venison haggis was too peppery but everything else was delicious.
I was with my 8m old and they were very accommodating and had very clean facilities.
M. E.
Came here to check haggis off my list while in Glasgow for work. It was recommended to me by a Scot native to Glasgow whom I've known a long time. It did not disappoint - wonderful environment, service, and food. If I ever find myself back in Glasgow, I'll be coming back here for sure!
M. G.
Lovely decor with delicious food. A great place to meet friends for dinner in Glasgow. I had their beautiful sea trout and it was absolutely delightful. Not sure if it is on the menu as I went a few years ago, but it's hard to order a bad dish here.
J. j.
I am a regular, staff are very friendly, welcoming efficient and always pleased to recommend as I often visit on my own they mKe me feel comfortable. Its lovely to sit outside to soak up Ashton Lanes windeful atmosphere. Cocktails are amazing, try the elderflower one, delicious! I usually have the mussels and langoustinos and clams and octopus when available. I always entertain visitors here and they're always impressed too. The decor inside is beautiful too. Thank you guys, thumbs up
M. J.
Amazing food and service. Recommend the main restaurant. The decor is so beautiful. Had an exceptional time. The vegetarian haggis is delicious and the cocktails are great too.
A. C.
Most beautiful and delicious meal we had in Glasgow. You’ll be wowed by the interior, the service, and most importantly, the food! Definitely and highly recommended!
L. V. D. D.
Not enough praises for this fabulous place! Do call ahead for reservations and request a special menu if needed. (We got the dairy free ones.) Melt-in-your-mouth apps, entrees and desserts. (Way too delicious to stop and take a photo first!) All paired with locally crafted gin, ales and whiskey. Service is AMAZING! The interior decor is wonderfully up-scale, garden-cozy and funky in one breath.
S. G.
Visited here with some fussy but all food loving family, including a chef, and we all had a great time. The setting, ambience, service, food and drink were all excellent. We chose the a-la-cart menu which was nice and small but with a good selection for all tastes. When asked about any of the dishes the staff were very knowledgeable, polite and helpful, and the same was true with the drinks menu.
Some may find it pricey, but when everything is taken into account I'd say it's good value and I'll definitely be booking a table the next time I'm in Glasgow.
D. D.
Finally got to this place. It did not disappoint. Loved it. Lunch menu- fish pate starter was best I have tasted. Healthy cous cous salad and chicken, followed by amazing white choc mousse. The meal was so fresh, tasty but simple. Staff excellent too
S. D.
Amazingly delicious meal! Cannot recommend highly enough.
M. J.
Remains a gem of Glasgow. Serving well thought out and well made meals in a lush and uncomplicated environment. Will outlive its competitors for sure
G. B.
Great surroundings, great staff and good food, well presented and cooked just so.... scallops soft and sweet, venison seared and pink..a roasted pineapple and Panna cotta pud just very well balanced.....so very worth a visit
P. F.
Good for and service and weirdly quirky building . A definite “must - try” in Glasgow. Scottish local cuisine done up with flair and class . To me it seemed like there were two bars and restaurants. Make sure your in the one you want to be.
P. M.
Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The food looks delicious too, although I never had the pleasure of dining here.
W. P.
Brasserie is on mezzanine floor above the main restaurant so airy and cool rather than cosy. Service was prompt and efficient from friendly and helpful waitress. Table was on a narrow corridor with just enough space for other diners to squeeze past. Starter of ham hough terrine with sourdough was tasty and nicely presented. Mains of Shetland cod was on a bed of cubed potatoes and pancetta with a little rarebit sauce. Nice combination of flavours, accompanied by white Rioja. Fellow diners happy with their choices too (lamb, haggis with neeps and tatties)
W. P.
The Chip is consistently one of the best restaurant and bar experiences in Glasgow. Not always a fan of the punters who hang out in the bar - too middle aged, middle class and white - but it's a good place.
G. R.
Food was good. Wine pairings weren't the best (although we didn't pay extra for their top prestige tier). Service was friendly but a bit slow at times. Left waiting a while for a few courses. Just didn't flow as well as other tasting menus we have had. Insanely beautiful venue. I'll defo be going back but just for A la carte
D. S.
Great setting and atmosphere with a very friendly and helpful staff. The food was amazing, basically elevated pub food. I had the haggis appetizer and the pigeon main. No visit here is complete without a stop at the Wee Pub at the Chip to sample one of over 200 whiskies on display or a good pint.
N. B.
I arrived early and it took a while for me to be served. As the night went by, the staff became super helpful and checked on us all the time. Food was delicious.
S. R.
Menu a bit limited but having found a choice it was well cooked and well presented Wine list somewhat eccentric, not sure many will buy the £4000+ bottles but others are within price range . Location and atmosphere makes this place a bit different and the excellent staff made it a night to remember and a place to revisit
R. A.
Good food, nice unusual decor, great staff.
J. G.
There are good restaurants, then there are Michelin star restaurants, then there is The Chip.
Phenomenal. Every time.
N. D.
Friendly staff, excellent food and a nice post lockdown atmosphere! Welcome back! :)
M. S.
Helpful and friendly staff, they said the haggis is not of a big portion, but was enough and absolutely fantastic. I would recommend to try with the whisky sauce. Tried the Interesting Islay flight, which was a great whisky experience
A. S.
Although the price is quite high, the service and food quality match the price tag. The quirky atmosphere to the whole venue is a plus❤️
G. H.
Iconic Glasgow restaurant, good food, good service and quirky roof top terrace (with heaters).
C. E.
Great atmosphere and decor inside, not what I was expecting from the outside at all. The food was incredible, as was the service.
C. M.
My first try at haggis. Was not let down, such a creative meal with the parsnip mash and the potato mash. Loved the whiskey sauce on top. Excellent service, will return when in Glasgow. A definite must for a unique take on Scottish cuisine
S. L.
Just the name should send you there. The atmosphere was great, they have a lot of nice sitting areas and the service is good. When it comes to the food, the dishes were a bit weird, and the hagis had too much pepper. But we enjoyed the mussels and a weird dish of fish and chicken. Go Ubiquitous!
g. f.
Amazing food and greate service, it is always a pleasure everytime I visit for food or drinks.
J. L.
One of the finer restaurants in the West End, if not Glasgow. Very ambient atmosphere inside along with attentive, friendly staff members and great food. Particularly notable for hosting private events - well recommended.
c. m.
Food was very tasty and the lunch/ pre theatre menu was exceptionally good value! Can get busy so booking advised.
C. M.
Competent food, nice surrounds but not that special. Didn't hate it but wouldn't rush back
J. S.
Went at lunch in a weekday, in march, so no queues and no need for a reservation. The pork belly was superb and the haggis were amazing. The desert was just ok. Highly recommended.
K. C.
One of the best places we've been to in a long time. Special orders were prepared to perfection. Wonderful service, even though it was busy with the graduation diners (which included us). Go here, you won't be disappointed. Sandy was our server, highly recommended.
I. L.
Stopped for a quick drink which was very enjoyable. Food smelled lovely and looked like the perfect Sunday meal. I would love to go back and try their menu! Very pretty inside too, ideal for a proposal or anniversary.
J. D. (.
Incredible. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the experience was of the highest class. Can't wait to visit again.
J. R.
Other than the menu taking 2.5hours in total to be served it was a good time experience.
M. O.
Perfect place for a quality dinner. My sister who's vegan was super happy!
A. M.
Always been a good pub. Good beer, reasonably good prices.
H. G.
Really beautiful interior with delightful service. Solid cooking, delicious produce, uninterested in gimmicky nonsense.
O. C.
The restaurant is a wonderful space and pleasant to sit in. The lunch menu is excellent - we had the haggis, salmon sandwich special and a meat board, which came with some of the best smoked mackerel we’d ever enjoyed. Staff were friendly and attentive. I cant recommend this place more highly.
M. R.
Just fantastic place. I love their small terrace where you can enjoy a drink in the sun, and their indoor garden restaurant with well prepared food.
K. M.
Absolutely amazing. The manager really accommodated us. They made room
For us on our last night. Food was amazing. Drinks were great. This restaurant was recommended to our group by two people and it didn’t disappoint.
E. S.
Food good, staff efficient and friendly. £20.50 extortionate for a large glass of Malbec!
R. J.
First time to both Ubiquitous Chip and Ashton Lane and I was taken back by both, with the Chip transporting the guest away from the hustle and bustle of Glasgow to a peaceful courtyard filled with natural light and a small fish pond.
It didn't deliver on the food though unfortunately. The tasting menu was tasty; however, for the price (£65 per person) it was overly expensive and because nobody else within the restaurant was having it at the same time it did add time to each course being prepared as well as taking some of the experience away.
Although there are much better tasting menus out there for a much lower cost, I will be back to taste the other food, with the plates looking very tasty and staff being friendly.

With a lovely setting and an exciting menu, Ubiquitous Chip has a lot of positives. The haggis starter was particularly good, and the lamb and halibut mains were fine too. However, the pigeon starter was cold and rubbery and the cherry tart dessert was excessively sweet. Nice wine pairings and friendly service. Would happily visit again.

Good - as ever. Not much sign of an attempt at adhering to the most recent Covid regs - the place was crowded - a little uncomfortably so. The food and the service was, however, excellent as usual
P. B.
Having dined here many times, the food has always been amazing and the venue is a great hidden gem in the West end of Glasgow - the Chip is one of the venues that has to be seen to be believed - I can't remember the first time, but always remember the last time
T. Q.
Great food and chic atmosphere. Fast and efficient service.
A. W.
Great eatery on Ashton Lane in the West End of Glasgow. Huge wine selection and the food was out of this world, I would recommend the Smoky Cauliflower to any meat eater, stunning flavours. Desserts were well above any desserts I have eaten before and honey ice cream, yum yum yum yum.
From the minute you enter the Chip until the minute you leave, you are well looked after by all the staff, nothing is a bother to them.
I highly recommend the Ubiquitous Chip to anyone who fancies a little high end dining.
You will not be disappointed.
T. H.
We had the most wonderful meal here. The waiting staff were top notch, Max's suggestions and conversation were a real highlight. Would give 6 stars if possible.
C. C.
Amazing place, service and food. You can choose pub service or fine dining.
We went for fine dining with the taster menu and wine flight, very good. First time I have been able to order a draught pint with a taster menu, made my night.
Q. G.
Nice place, staff were fantastic. Food was OK, we did order the tasting menue and think that's what gave us the sub par experience, we would go again and I think I would order from the menue and hopefully I will see why everyone raves about the food here.
It's worth a shot you could do a lot worse.

Arguably the best food coupled with service I’ve had in a long long time , my pict speaks volumes .
A must must must !!!!!

This is a beautiful venue. I'm going to leave my absolutely honest, constructive review. Taken in and seated. Gorgeous place with cobblestone floor and waterfalls, fantastic ambience. I was sold already. We sat at our table and I felt something hit my head. I brushed it off as a wayward bluebottle but again I got hit and a water drop hit my forehead, ran fown my nose and dropped off onto the table. There was a break in the glass roof and I guess it rained. No probs, we were immediately moved to another table in the corner. No problem. Menu delivered and we chose our food (I was a teeny bit disappointed with the lack of choice). Anyway, no problem we ordered. Whilst awaiting our meal I overheard the people at the table next to us, who had just ordered Bollinger Champagne being offered oysters and lobster (no sign of that on my menu). I did ask the Waiter about this and he arranged an oyster for me to try. The vinagraitte was gorgeous as was the oyster. The scallops, my starter, which were served with a sauce which I honestly can say tasted like slightly nutty infused water were a major disappointment. It was weak, far too subtle and quite honestly bland. The scallops were lovely, the sauce / accompiniment was like dishwater. Sorry but absolutely not anywhere good enough.
The main course, I opted for stone bass, (maybe sea bass of another name), my partner for ribeye steak and sides (which are costed seperately). I opted for the sea/stone bass with accompaniment of that shown for the halibut (ratger than that shown to accompany the stone bass). It was so nice but my sauce was an oily green bland substance. Man I was disappointed. I enjoyed everything else, just got on with it as it was my partner's birthday (I made this clear to the restaurant at booking - not one comment saying happy birthday). Anyway I got a sauce with my stone bass. It was green oil, again with no flavour whatsoever. Fortunately prior to finishing I used the end of my knife to stir it. It was a gorgeous sauce. Now I'm sure the Chef knew it woud split and need to be agitated / stirred but I'm no Chef!!! I could ask the Chef 200 questions on my line of work which he could never answer - I could! Really, I have to stir the sauce myself? At that price? Assume the diner knows to stir a sauce you provide in a tiny jug? Pathetic. All in all my dining experience was below average. Interior - 9/10. Staff in attendance - 9/10 (they forgot to tell us about the specials but made it up on serving me an oyster which was really tasty). Food - 5/10 and the scallops dish 1/10. For the extortionate price (£30 for ribeye steak and ectra for veg etc) I expected a whole lot more and a dry head!!
A. F.
Delicious meal and wonderful atmosphere. I tired new things, like a "compressed watermelon" that was a strange experience. Overall one of the best meals I've had in Glasgow so far.
A. B.
Very nice restaurant on multiple levels. Food was excellent.
R. M.
Every mouthful was delicious. I really didn't want my meal to end. Great surroundings and service too.
M. A.
The Chip is a staple on Ashton Lane. It has changed quite a bit though. The service isn't as thorough and professional as it once was, or maybe they were having an off day. We just popped into the brassiere for a quick lunch. I had the salmon and eggs on toast, or what should have been toast. Instead it was bland eggs on soggy bread. It was okay, but a little mushy with no textural contrast.
D. J.
We've been going here off and on for the last 10 years and have had many a great meal.....but, this last time the place was cold, the service iffy and main courses a tad small...but the Chocolate Cremaux made up for everything, yes it was that good.
T. K.
Food was good. But I'm not sure that it was really the same level of quality you expect when paying this much. We had a medium rare steak that was black on the outside and brown in the inside. Was as tough and dry as sawdust.
C. L.
As you'd expect from reviews, everything was pretty much spot on. Our table for 5 was too big to allow reliable conversation tho and the non-alcoholic beer order kept being forgotten, so had to dock a star. Fantastic evening there all the same mind.
J. W.
Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Also a special nut-free menu which I have never experienced before. Recommend!
A. N. L.
Amazing food, good service. Loved the place😃👌❤
A. Y.
Excellent good, service, and atmosphere. And a great (and very extensive!) wine list.
I. I.
Great place for a dinner, nice atmosphere and setup, good food.
J. H.
What a lovely evening I had with my 3 friends last Thursday at the Chip. We met on the terrace for cocktails and then had dinner upstairs on the balcony area. We had various small plates and 2 large plates to share and all the food was lovely. Staff were so friendly too. An enjoyable time was had by all!
C. O.
What a treat. Came here to try their tasting menu which is a 7 course meal for £65. Sounds like a lot of money but the quality of the food is the best I have had in Glasgow. Each dish with its own unique blend of flavours that I never thought would work, but I was pleasantly suprised. 3 hour dine in to finish the meal but worth the trip for an atmospheric and delicious meal coupled with staff that were attentative and caring.
M. F.
Colourful, comfortable, the fire was on 🔥 friendly. Coffee was hot and rich
B. J.
Great night out, fantastic atmosphere
J. E.
Amazing food, beautiful indoor seating. Took a while to get served and the brasserie menu was incredibly confusing. The mussels were particularly good.
R. S.
The Ubiquitous Chip is a West End (Glasgow) classic. Food, drink, ambience. Superb service. It's great it is now open again. It multi offers. Bars Brassiere Fine Dining. Exceptional wine list.
S. h.
An truly outstanding restaurant, not just the venue or the high standard of food but to witness a team of people who are all pulling in the same positive direction. We spoke to Louise the manager for the evening, it is clear she loves her role and is proud of every member of the team. We shall return 👏👏👏
T. U.
Excellent food, a little bit expensive compared to similar restaurants in the area though.
G. M.
Lovely place to be quick service from the staff nice food if you're looking for just having nibbles to a 3 course meal...
F.
Perfect dinner spot in Glasgow (if you're stopping just for a night in the city, book for dinner here)! The menu is a total celebration of local produce. Sat upstairs on the terrace - lovely atmosphere, and luckily sheltered from the rain with heat lamps (ahh british summertime 😅). 1 server manning all the tables on the terrace did a spot on job! Such a nice guy, super quick and attentive 👏 Delicious jersey royal potato dish - lobster thermidor was perfect - juicy lobster meat, delicious cheesy sauce! 😍 Globe artichoke to start was delicious and I never see them on restaurant menus - I image because they're difficult to prepare, but I love them so this was a massive treat. Such a well-thought menu in general 👏 Wish we had room for dessert!
M. B.
One of the nicest meals I've ever had. Nice, compact menu and attentive staff.
P. L.
Absolutely amazing greenery inside, food was delicious
I. W.
Over-rated and overpriced. Weird olive gnocchi that came with something that tasted like bbq sauce, oysters that were all dried out, greasy salmon. Shame as had heard great things about it but didn't live up to the hype!
H.
Food was amazing apart from the steak being over cooked. Service was slow. Restaurant theme and dinning area was astonishing!
C. 7.
Lovely atmosphere. Tasty seafood dishes and veggie options at the Brasserie.
Y. B.
Everyone was attentive and very accommodating! Gluten-free and vegetarian options were not a problem and the food was truly delicious!
M. T.
Delicious food and a lovely atmosphere at the Brasserie.

Excellent food and service. This place never fails to deliver. A staple in our visits to Glasgow.
A. E.
One of the best restaurants I've ever eaten in.
P. G.
Impressed! I came due to a recommendation of a local from Glasgow and the food was amazing! I would definitely recommend the house "haggis" - surprisingly brilliant
Looking forward to come back to Glasgow to come back

25th year in a row for anniversary meal. Although they couldn't accommodate today due to opening restrictions we went for a late lunch yesterday. We were warmly received with a 'happy anniversary ' for our tasting menu experience. I cannot fault the food and the professionalism of the waiting staff. Nice pauses in-between courses and a good selection of mocktails and alcohol free wines and beers available. We had G&tea !! Fabulous meal, as usual, and well worth the cost for such a lovely meal in verdant surroundings. The only suggestion I have is that we would like to have known that there was a drinks pairing available at an extra cost which we would have gone for if it had not been marked at the very bottom of the menu. Move it to the top, guys!! Full marks to all. Can't wait until next time.
A. R.
This was one of my favourite haunts when I was at Glasgow University. Fond memories.

Good boozer and scran

Quirky and friendly. Roof terrace is a great place to sit and enjoy a drink.
I. L.
Stopped for a quick drink which was very enjoyable. Food smelled lovely and looked like the perfect Sunday meal. I would love to go back and try their menu! Very pretty inside too, ideal for a proposal or anniversary.

The staff and food were truly fantastic!!!! They catered for my gluten intolerance with ease - had a very very good meal!! Can't fault the place...
C. G.
Ambiance was pleasant enough, service was only ok, nothing too special about the food (though appetizers were better than mains). Mediocrity not worth the high prices.
R. R.
Good bar , great choices of beers , wines , spirits etc . Staff on the ball
C. H.
Returned here after nearly a 40 year absence. The decor and ambience is much the same though the tapas style menu in the Brasserie is definitely a change. The food was tasty but some of it was only lukewarm. The service was excellent. The place is pricy so it will remain for special occasions only.
C. O.
Had a couple of drinks none of my favourite whiskies, Grouse or Bells so had to have Chivas Regal.
B. R.
Having a night cap on the roof terrace was the perfect way to end the evening. Drinks were not outrageous and we're served fairly quick. *You have to provide your contact info before being seated/served

The food was great, as was the service. As we were there on a Saturday night, the atmosphere was lively, which we enjoyed very much. Despite being quite busy, the waiting staff were very friendly and took their time to explain the local dishes and the wines to us. The only reason I would not recommend it is if you are looking for a quiet place to eat.
T. T.
The bar, the restaurant and the brasserie are all connected to each other. I was here on a night where the restaurant was closed for private event. The food we ordered (Seafood platter and a small haggis) were fresh, delicious, and appealing. The portion was fair for the price. This is the best restaurant that I visited in Scotland so far. Quirky atmosphere, friendly attentive service, and lovely food. Highly recommended.
S. M.
Wow this place is good , we were quickly seated , service was fantastic as was the food it was all round amazing , we did book in advance, absolutely worth a visit , my partner & I will be back for sure .
S. H.
Expensive, but worth it. Fabulous food in the most beautiful setting. With homemade lemonade!
M. H.
Nice place. We ate in the brasserie, there's a more formal dining room downstairs. Staff excellent, food good. We had to wait a while (Saturday night) but were well compensated with free bread and olives. It turns into a bar once the diners have gone and looked like it was going to really liven up as we left.
R. M.
Came here tonight with my big sister for her birthday and the food and atmosphere were both amazing! Staff were super friendly - in particular we were served by an irish woman who was so lovely and gave us great recommendations! 10/10 would return!
M. C.
Great food and atmosphere worth the price.
A. W.
Had a very nice dinner. Lovely building on an interesting street. Food was as good as expected and described in the reviews. Some nice culinary techniques. Get the pistachio sponge desert if served during your visit.
J. L.
Such a beautiful place. On top the food us very tasty and the staff super friendly. We really enjoyed our dinner here and would recommend everyone going here!
P. M.
Not been since before lockdown. Remains as good as ever.
G. P.
This is a very special place. We had a superb scallop appetizer and the Rarebit Cod main course and the taste and texture of each dish was done to perfection. Excellent lead in Manhattan cocktail and a nice wine pairing suggested by the staff. Very friendly and accommodating staff and an atmosphere of plants levels and soft lighting make this a must for you next special night out.
E. S.
Such great food - we had the fish platter, mussels and a fillet steak. All perfect. They were a little late bringing the drinks, and so knocked them off the bill. Great service and brilliant food.
R. M.
This place is gorgeous! Its definitely an experience to walk in here I loved all the indoor plants and the beautiful garden they created. They also had a fountain in the corner and the space is brightly lit since the roof is glass which lets in a lot of sunlight. They told me all the plants were real as well, and as a succulent lover, this place was my paradise!
Great drinks, well mixed - i recommend the peach daiquiri. We got these to start.
Haggis venison was outstanding and it comes with neeps and tatties, beautifully arrangled on the plate, I will say the portions are on the smaller side but if you're there for lunch its a good meal, dinner portions are larger they said. It is a little expensive for the price but just order more, you're paying for the space
Dessert of crowdie cheese cake is showstopper and I highly recommend getting this if youre here. You can digest it by walking around ashton lane after that :)
Great service- there is seating on top I recommend getting as high up to the skylight as you can but all the spaces in this restaurant are lovely. The staff is good and help with offering tourist recommendations as well as details on food presentation and helping with allergies
Great bathrooms and lots of them so less waiting. Also uniquely spaced and interesting layout of the whole restaurant
C. G.
The place is very interesting with a sort of greenhouse area in the middle. Food was nice but nothing spectacular, I had smoked mackerel and hand cut chips on the side. I was suggested by my table neighbors to try next time the venison haggis since apparently they are the best in the whole Scotland. There was a bit of confusion with my order, side arrived late, the drink was not the one I had ordered. Overall a nice experience which could get some improving.
A. V.
Good tasting menu, could be a bit more elaborate for the vegetarian option. Excellent service.
F. W.
Three of us had the char grilled sharing platter which was superb followed by pork schnitzel for two and fish cake for one.
All excellent unfortunately the affogato ordered for the sweet took an age to arrive.
Price was acceptable for a good restaurant.
S. M.
Went for my birthday for lunch at the Brasserie. Was seated upstairs which has a lovely feel and fresh hanging baskets. As it was my birthday we were given menus that had "Happy Birthday" at the top. Felt this was a nice touch. Food was excellent and good cocktails! Recommend for a nice treat.
I. F.
Excellent quality food and service. Try the venison haggis.
S. N. (.
Great place, great food and a nice quirky atmosphere. Could spend all night in the balcony.
G. E.
Really enjoyed it here 3 floors and a roof terrace, 2 restaurants and 2 bars. We tried the Brassiere and the food was excellent. The staff were really attentive, it's just a little way out of the centre of the city but we'll worth a visit.
j. t.
It's quite expensive and the sellection of lager isn't great but it's open until 1 every night, the staff are polite and friendly and the customers mainly ok 👍
D. B.
Service was seriously lacking. Might have only been our server but she seemed like she couldn't be bothered. Menu was too pretentious for my liking. Looking down the menu it was more a case of crossing off stuff I wouldn't want to have than choosing what sounded good. Had mussels to start and they were pretty good. We both had the rib eye steak and it was just OK. Chips were hand made but dry and with no sauce. Just seemed to miss out on the basics while striving to be fine dining.
c.
I had my wedding reception in this beautiful restaurant and it was fab! We even got to choose from a menu....there were only 30 of us tho. A person could never have a bad meal at " the chip" it's gorgeous and takes its food extremely seriously. Best place to eat in Glasgow, if not Scotland!
A. S.
We had a great evening here with superb food. Service was good natured and friendly without being "in your face", we ate in the main restaurant as a party of 9, would definitely return. Only small negative was that as the deserts were presented we were told that we had 10 minutes to leave as they had another booking - I feel we should have been told of any "deadline" as we sat down.
E. C.
Wow! till now 3 months later, I still couldn't forget this beautiful place. Served really good fine dining food at a good price. Delicious bread before our main meals were served. Service was good. My son and I were seated in a comfortable table overlooking a nice courtyard. Will go again when I visit Glasgow again.
A. M.
Wow, what an incredible meal. The food that you see on videos from multi-Michelin star restaurants appeared in front of me today. A little costly, however it was absolutely worth the price.
The interior looks beautiful, staff are attentive, and I had a perfect view of the lovely bar.
The food looked stunning, and tasted as good. Large selection of interesting items on the menu, as well as a complimentary cucumber soup + bread. Would completely recommend and go back again.
C. P.
Little bit of great, little bit of so so...
The restaurant looks beautiful, however we found there to be a lack of atmosphere (we were seated downstairs). The service was really up and down, it started good, was bad/missing in the middle, then good again, then bad again at the end (drinks with our dessert too forever)...
The food was up and down as well - the starter (venison haggis) was good, and the carrot and cumin soup they give you on the house was great. The mains (a fillet steak and the guinea fowl) were so so, but the guinea fowl had very little meat, and we didn't like the dessert at all.
Overall this was a disappointing experience, and expensive for what we got - I don't think we'll be going back.
T. K.
Our sons wedding was on Friday and the venue was just amazing. The staff were first class. The best day our son and Daughter In Law could have wished for. Very highly recommend this venue. The wedding fare was top class. Thanks to all the staff who were just brilliant,a special mention to Fiona. Thanks for the wonderful memories of our first Scottish wedding. What a day and night.
N. d. L. D.
It's a little fish 'n ships place, and sometimes that's all you need. Tried a Scottish specialty there: fish 'n ships, with a fried Mars bar for dessert.
S. B.
Booked into the brasserie which is up in the Mezzanine level above the main restaurant. The menu is good, lots interesting options including classics like belly pork or risotto. Peering over to the restaurant below I thought the food there looked even better, but we enjoyed our meals and the ambiance was good.
C. G.
Excellent food. Wait staff did everything by the book. Beautifully delicious duck parfait.
MAKE SURE TO EAT BEFOREHAND. The portions are tiny. We spent $150 (£90) but it didn’t touch the sides.
R. C.
We booked Ubiquitous Chip for a post wedding dinner (during covid restrictions) for us and our guests. We could not fault anything at all - from the booking (with the delightful Alex) to the food, to the waiting staff, everything absolutely perfect for us and our guests. It was ideal for our day. Thank you all so very much for making it special for us.
G. K.
Haven't been here for a good few years and I have to say the standard isn't as high as it once was. Portion size way too small. I won't hurry back-there are plenty more restaurants in Glasgow serving higher quality food for the same or better value.
l.
LOVE! So happy we made the reservation! Try the venison haggis! This girl really likes haggis, who knew? Took suggestion from waiter for drink and not disappointed in the Caledonia 80 or the lemonade made on site (with lemons, mint, cucumber and strawberries). Venison haunch perfectly cooked as was husbands fish (dont remember what it was exactly). Wonderful environment/atmosphere. Happy to have gone.
M. B.
Very stylish, cozy place with friendly waitresses. I had my really first Haggis there and definitely would have it again. From whiskeys we had the Interesting Islay - it was a good choice :)
g. h.
Amazing winter pub with a peat fire complementing cracking wines. Treat yourself to some amazing food in the restaurant too. It's one of the best in Glasgow.
S. L.
Beautiful decor with a really cool, laidback vibe. The staff were excellent, especially the sommelier. All incredibly friendly and have the impression that they were genuinely nice people rather than just being nice because they were getting paid for it.
The food was fantastic, I had the veggie haggis followed by the trout, with a chocolate pavé, all of it superb. They were excellent at catering to my awkward dietary requirements too.
Excellent wine list too.
All in all, a very enjoyable lunch in a great setting.
N. t.
Great service from friendly knowledgable staff. Seated immediately and drinks arrived within minutes. Gent came to take our order and was happy to help with information about the food on the menu. Food was spectacular! Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area, dont forget to book your table though. We will be back 😊
M. C.
What a wonderful place. I have eaten haggis for the first time and it is to be recommended. It took a while to get past the inevitable range of craft brewers to find some real British keg beer. They have some good local ales. If you are visiting Glasgow, you HAVE to go to the Ubiquitous Chip
J. H.
The space is comfy and cozy, and the barstaff were really friendly and helpful with their whisky and wine suggestions. The prices were very fair and the whole place felt very clean and well run. The atmosphere was lovely for a cozy group get together.
S. D. P.
quite good but i expected more. the service was great and the food was good, but not as great as the incredibly high reviews suggested. That being said, I was in a large group and we had a set menu. I chose a cod dish with some beans and a goat cheese tomato terrine. Both were good, but like i said earlier, not fantastic.
C. S.
Lovely restaurant and friendly staff
Been a few times now and can't wait to go back!!!
P. O.
Tried the tasting menu... couple fine...others way of the mark... venue still got potential.... but the fine dining idea should be shelved till they can back it up. I write with a degree of understanding... its difficult.
S. R.
Great quality Scottish cuisine at a decent price. Interesting leafy surroundings really add to the ambience of the space. Waiting staff were attentive throughout, however did take a bit to give us the bill. Will definitely think of coming here again!
G. F.
Classy place, really nice food and good service. We have been in many times and never been let down. Plus after we are on the door step of the best pubs in the west end Highly recommended.
M. B.
We or rather my daughter booked this restaurant for her Wedding Lunch. The name in itself is intriguing. There was 8 in the party on at 14th October. The interior design is very relaxing. The welcome , food and service first class . There was one young lady who was the principal server an she was chatty alongside a bubbly personality. All in all a great way to celebrate a wedding and I would highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner. Great value for money. One question. I could not find you on Trip Advisor?
J. H.
Always impressed, never let's me down. The interior design is excellent. Also a good selection on plants to look at while you eat. The food is amazing and the menu is always changing.
J. A.
A well constructed atmosphere that ensures you leave with a smile. The food was above average (very fresh scallops) but fell short of high expectations and the Italian red wines (my favourite) were over priced. None the less the experience was one I'd be happy to have again.
A. A.
Went here for a 50th birthday bash. Despite the numbers, and the fact that we selected from the graduation menu to keep things simple, service was nonetheless personal and attentive. Most importantly, the food well above par.
All things considered, the price wasn't excessive. Recommended.
Q.
One of my favourite restaurants in town. Great Scottish food with a modern touch. Place and staff are lovely and reasonably priced for the quality of the food. I prefer the brasserie over the restaurant menu, especially for o special occassions
S. G.
I revisited one of my favourite restaurants, the Ubiquitous Chip, for lunch in the Brasserie recently after many years overseas. The setting is as attractive and welcoming as ever and the staff were attentive and friendly. I had the hot smoked salmon sandwich with pressed cucumber. It came with a generous helping of salmon but the cucumber was virtually undetectable unlike the two slices of dill pickle slapped on top which simply didn’t work and the dill creme fraiche which just made the bread soggy. Still, it’s worth a visit. Come for a drink and you won’t be disappointed.
M. G.
What a great place, went in for a drink and had a great pint sitting out in the sun on the rooftop terrace. We decided to stay for something to eat and were amazed at the restaurant. Very lovely setting and really great food. Will definitely be back at some point!
A. D.
Incredibly high level of cuisine, rooted in Scotland. Excellent and warm service. They have a whole menu, upon request, of their dishes re-conceived dairy-free. Deep list of whiskeys. Excellent cocktails. Don't miss the murals by local genius Alasdair Gray.
E. M.
Nice atmosphere Korean Cauliflower was amazing. Fish tacos very forgettable. Gentleman who served us was very welcoming and friendly. The tacos were bland and not worth the money. Otherwise it would have been 5*
C. L.
A place definitely worth the visit. Compared to all the other restaurants in the West End I've been to, there are none that have left such a lasting impression. This could be because of the amazing food - try their slow cooked ox cheek - and/or their amazing but slightly confusing interior - I got lost on the way. It's also just refreshingly different from your typical West End restaurant as you can tell that it's just a wee bit fancier.
L. v. d. V.
Absolutely delicious vegetarian haggis at the brasserie. The staff is lovely and helpful. The place itself looks beautiful and has a cozy atmosphere. If you are visiting Glasgow, do not skip this one!
l. s.
Let's no waste time 5 stars all the way. Go there if you look for innovative cuisine, if you have a first date to take out,if you like new fresh and vibrant food and drinks. I would like to become a regular, go there!
D. W.
Even after all these years, The Chip is STILL one of the best restaurants in Glasgow! The whole experience is a joy and the atmosphere is great! Super food, great service and a good wine list. You get what you pay for but its always a treat!
C. K.
This place is AMAZING!! It was by far the best meal we had in Scotland. The prices are very reasonable, the food was sooo good, the staff was so warm and welcoming, and the location was awe inspiring. I truly can't say enough great things. I wish I could go back again and again! It's a must on a travel itinerary to the area - cutest part of town!
M. M.
Excellent food served in a unique environment. The food was fresh tasting and served beautifully. The service was also wonderful. The place was upscale without being pretentious, relaxed without being too casual, and formal without being stuffy. We'd definitely go back.
M. B.
The food was good but a pink roast beef should be a wee bit more cooked than blue.. The puddings were a taster not a full course. Less than a stick of rhubarb and a melon scoop of ice cream is not enough although it looked wonderful.
C. C.
Had dinner at the restaurant with my partner and we were both very pleased with the experience.
It was my boyfriend's birthday, so I made a reservation 3 weeks before that and requested a special touch for him. They were very helpful indeed and several discussions were made to make it special for him, I was very happy that the staff were so friendly and helpful, and were very sincere in trying to make it special for the both of us.
We ordered the haggis neeps and tatties and the pig cheek for the starters, deer and monkfish tail for the mains and as a surprise at the end, the blueberry creme with a candle on it. The food was superb and excellently executed.
The ambience of the place is homey and very welcoming. Would totally recommend a second visit.
Although the bill was a bit high, I think it's a fair price to pay for such a wonderful meal and experience.
D. B.
A few days ago, popped in hoping they had a table. We were lucky and were shown to a table. Our waitress was lovely and told us how our food we ordered was locally sourced. Food was outstanding👌🏻
F. A.
The atmosphere it's just wow !
S. M.
A slightly upscale place in an area full of bars/pubs catering to college crowd. The food options were good and the service was up to the mark. We spent some time at the bar as well and enjoyed the atmosphere along with their Chip '72 beer.
D. R.
Genuinely friendly service. The food is amazing, perfect portions of locally sourced Scottish cuisines, full of flavour. Originally an outdoor area, roofed in the early 1900's, the atmosphere is incredible. Great little smoking terrace too
D.
Staff were really friendly, helpful and attentive so top marks there.
Had the beetroot for a starter which was nice enough, a bit boring though.
Then on to the pigeon main which was really good but the accompanying dish was a bit dull and uninspired in flavour. - salted cabbage, hazelnuts, celeriac.
Side of honey roasted carrots and turnips were ok, have had better.
Wine was amazing.
Interior and setting is beautiful.
D. M.
Superb doesn't really cover it. You pay for what you get, so don't go complaining it is overpriced and overrated. The food service and attention to detail were first class. Try it if you feel like a great treat.
I. B.
Fabulous, creative food in a greenhouse-like setting
M. P.
Excellent vegetarian set festive menu. Excellent service.
O. K.
We love coming here for a nice meal or a pint. The Bistro and the restaurant can be a little pricey, but it’s worth it.
You can sit in the bar by the fire and have a pint with your dog if you are so inclined, or go down to the wee pub underneath and relax.
This place is a fixture of west end living.
A. X.
Always a good decision to come here on a night. Amazing setting, great selection. The food here is THE BEST in Glasgow. Certainly for Haggis, Neeps and Tatties. Their whisky selection is top tier. Be sure to check the Alasdair Gray mural beside the toilets of people who worked there 30/40 years ago.
A. B.
Really quaint hidden away restaurant and pub. The staff and customers are very friendly and chat to newcomers. The pub is dog friendly as were the customers. They have a great selection of Single Malts. Worth a visit but get there early as it’s very busy and quite small.
T. K.
Favourite restaurant in Glasgow. Just off Ashton Lane in the West end. Restaurant on ground floor, large fish pool with huge carp, cobbled stones and vines hanging down over the balcony from upstairs bar! Food superb but expect to pay £30 for a 3 course meal. Well worth the money!
G. W.
Fantastic. World class cuisine. There is a brasserie upstairs and a more formal dining room downstairs. Two pubs on site.
This restaurant has survived since 1971, but it isnt just resting on its laurels. The food is modern, local and delicious
We had dinner and enjoyed it so much we went back for lunch the next day. If we had more time in Glasgow we would have made a third visit.
C. P.
Good service in a pleasant environment. The food was well prepared and delicious.
L. M.
Well... the chips were GREAT! we ordered them twice. Upstairs is divided. We sat on the more informal side and the service was poor. I had to get out of my seat and go look for our server. The ambience on the other side was beautiful - wish we had sat there. The street scene was fun too. Sept 2013
J. P. (.
Amazing service in this lovely location (we were in a great private corner in the brasserie) with delicious food, fab attention to customer needs and wants, and a good selection of wines that expand your experience. Keep coming back and it's most definitely recommended.
T.
We were upstairs in the bar. An open fire and the aroma of malt on the air. It's very crowded on a Friday or Saturday evening but you may finds snug seat round the corner, between the bar and the upstairs restaurant.
S. H.
Food was great, lovely atmosphere upstairs in the pub. Dog friendly as well which is brilliant. Only negative was the service was very slow and if felt that we were often ignored as the focus was on larger groups.
J. M.
Lovely place. Food is nice. On the higher more expensive end but nice for a special occasion
S. B.
Lovely lunch, staff were all friendly and down to earth and the food was great. Love sitting at a table surrounded by plants it's so refreshing. Can't fault them.
b. k.
Bit pricey I'd say but the aesthetics are cozy enough to make it worth to go
G. I.
Nice bar, good selection of drinks and cocktails, maybe one of the bar staff was having a bad day, bit miserable when asked a question about seating🤔
I. R.
Excellent in every way at this price point, couldn’t fault it
A. S.
Best meal on our trip it’s been a good week since we had eaten there and it’s still one of our most memorable eating experience while visiting Scotland. Our group couldn’t stop talking about it and those chips shiiiiit those were out of this world!
I. L.
Great service. Lovely Sunday Roast. Staff were very attentive and helpful.
For those that haven't been the surroundings are also worth mentioning. Bright and airy in the middle. Snug and cosy in the other areas.
The amouse bouche was lovely treat and the bread and goats butter were great.
As above the Roast beef was delicious with lots of tasty roast vegetables and great Yorkshire pudding.
In short if you're looking for a Sunday Roast put this on your list.
Oh and it's very good the rest of the week too 😁
M. B.
Really good food as good as any Michelin star restaurant I have been to but not the prices of the latter. Service was good as were the cocktails, had a tremendous expresso martini.
C. S.
Lovely restaurant. My new wife and i just got married yesterday in Ayr and on our way home we googled a few restaurants in Glasgow and the Obiquitous chip came up. We are really glad we found it. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff and food are amazing. Very good attention to detail from the chef and a wee wedding surprise at end of the meal 😄 We would highly recommend.
B. A.
Dissapointing experience likely due to the hype. Food was decent but service was a bit underwhelming and unattentive with the finished plate being left there for long period of times. Other tables with more patrons did seem to be tended to better.
The crab starter was unimpressive with the best bit being the roasted walnuts. The sea trout was good and well cooked but lacked any flair. The saving grace was the Entremet which had complexity and very well balanced.
A decent place to have a meal but many miles from fine dining.
A. B.
I was excited to see this restaurant had achieved a Michelin Star in 2018. However, my experience had positives and negatives. I was visiting Glasgow on a solo tour. I made reservations for 6:30 pm and was immediately seated at my table and 3 different wait staff came by to take my drink order. My food order was also quickly taken by the staff, and almost immediately followed up with an amuse bouche and bread with goat cheese butter.
My starter of scallops was phenomenal. They absolutely melted in my mouth. However, the experience began to decline with my main course. My lamb was quite good but the cook was a bit uneven. One piece was almost well done, while the other pieces were more pink. I ordered a side of mashed potatoes and a side of roasted broccoli. I didn't care for the broccoli. It tasted unseasoned, despite the description of toasted almonds and chili oil. The mashed potatoes were good but nothing special.
My beverage of choice for my main course was a glass of Italian Barolo. My wine glass went dry about half way through my course. I was unable to flag the wait staff as they went by, due to being seated on the side, partially obscured by some plants. No staff member came by to check if I was enjoying my food or inquire if I'd like more wine. After finishing my course, I sat unattended for some time while I observed the wait staff interacting with other patrons such as inquiring about how did they like their food, and asking if additional beverages were needed.
Finally, one of the wait staff came by and asked if I was finished with my main course. I explained that I did not enjoy the broccoli and that another glass of Barolo would have been nice to finish my dish. He asked what I did not like about the broccoli, to which I replied that it was dry, and was bland. He stated that the broccoli was roasted. I stated that I understood but I just didn't care for it. He also apologized about the wine, and asked if I would like another glass while he was clearing my place setting.
The experience improved with the dessert course. I absolutely loved the whimsy of the poached rhubarb. The flavors complimented each other beautifully and the suggested Passito paired exquisitely. This dish was the absolute highlight of the evening.
Overall, I rated Ubiquitous Chip 3 stars due to the experience with staff, and the uneven cook of my main course protein. I would suggest that staff provide the same level of service to a solo diner as much as a table of 2 or more people. However, the starter and dessert was definitely Michelin star quality.
J. D.
fair play, this place was good - their food was excellent however their beer choice was shocking. I don't want to have to choose between very samey lagers and 1 bottle of ipa. there are great breweries in glasgow and a shame to not see more represented here. the wee chip has an extensive and glorious whisky menu
R. J.
Classy joint , Fustenburgh on draught, scan menu with smart phone. No riff raff.Wine by bottle, halleluja.More wine on list than you can point a stick at.That's in restaurant.Gourmet food, good distancing, table wise.Never any female cackling, much more refined. No naffness here.Has limited lane seating, but has roof terrace, best book.Open. prosecco equals cackling?
H. W.
There's a nice bar/pub here with staff who are knowledgable about what beers are available. They even offered us a tasting of the three Scottish beers they had.
The terrace at the top is good for a quiet(ish) drink. The view isn't that great, but it's still a nice area. If you don't mind cigarette smoke, check out the terrace!
I. J.
Went there on Wednesday night after them first opening on Monday when lockdown restrictions were lifted and it was really busy felt like they were understaffed as only few people were running about
But in general it was great atmosphere would like to come back and try their food
S. B.
Great food, atmosphere and serving staff. Steak was fabulous and puddings to die for 🤩
d. B.
Only drink here, food mediocre at best.
Traded on reputation for too long.
Nice, helpful staff.
Outside smoking terrace is a little suntrap daytimes.
Good place for a dram or a beer.
M. C.
Truly wonderful food and great selection of drinks in The Brasserie. Service was excellent, staff very helpful and friendly. Perhaps lacking a little atmosphere but I would certainly visit again and would love to try the A La Carte menu.
M. S. (.
My intro to Haggis which was good but I really didn't know what I was eating
The neeps and tatties were delicious. Downstairs bar was fun and we met friendly locals. Nice atmosphere and would go again. Was recommended by a colleague and it was a winner with our group!
C. K.
I came here for dinner and was not disaapointed with my experience. With a nice location which is situated off the high street.
Once inside the restaurant, I was captured by what I saw, which later reflected the high standards of the restaurant; very elegant inside. The staff are very helpful and friendly to chat to.
B. K.
Very nice experience. Lovely food.
N. V.
The Chip was a great spot! We had our first ever haggas, and I'm not sure if we will be able to find better. Service was friendly and attentive. There was a slight issue with our bill (We were undercharged) but we were able to easily clear that up.
We will most definitely return if the opportunity presents itself!
L. W.
Delicious scottish dishes in a very charming place !
P. J.
Too crowded. Not much place to sit.
A. J.
Food was good, however the service was slow. Initially booked in for 8:30, staff messed up the reservation (was for 16, they had 11) so based on this we could not be seated until 9:15, and then after ordering the starters came out at 10:20!
However, the food was good.
K. B.
Delicious food (I had the venison neeps and tatties and dark chocolate dessert), with friendly, organised staff very knowledgeable about their menu. The restaurant is cozy and nicely decorated with local pieces. The greenhouse with running water and indoor plants is especially surprising and beautiful - I just thought it was going to be a chippy! My only recommendation would be for more local ales and beers, however this seems to be less of a thing in Scottish establishments. Would definitely recommend to a friend visiting Glasgow.
J. G.
First time in years since I've been here. Not as busy as remembered and booking a table for particular time easy compared with few years ago. Used to be 'the' place to go for quality food and service. Still pricy but food and service only what you would at least expect nowadays for this type of eatery
S. D.
We were recommended this restaurant by a Glaswegian in Portsmouth. We had a fabulous meal Scallops, Haggis and fillet steak to die for. Wine was amazing also.
Thank you for a great evening
L. S.
Always lovely staff, quirky interior, and above all the delicious and inventive menu. Scottish inspired menu, with a few twists on classic dishes. Great for a special occasion.
K. E.
Beautiful place, the greenery indoors makes it such a fresh place to eat. Food lovely and great for sharing.
T. K.
Delicious food- the scallop starter was divine! And the service was impeccable. We were served by Aurora and her friendly service made our time there that much better!
M. W.
Average food, high prices. The steaks, although cooked well, weren't particularly tasty, perhaps as the meat wasn't of high quality. The meal was expensive, more than it would have cost for the same food nearby.
B. E.
Expensive but damn good food. Gets quite busy. Really comfortable inside as well, especially the green house type area. Great way to have simple but well made Scottish food
J. N.
The food was good, the place has nice decor. Had a great even, but I'm not sure i think it's the best restaurant in Glasgow.
C. H.
Outstanding food. Knowledgeable staff, quirky venue and with great wine and coffee. There might be places of similar quality in Glasgow, but over the years - The chip has maintained it's standards and is still in the top 5 places to eat in Glasgow in my opinion.
M. O.
Not much more you can say about this legendary eatery; as synonymous with Glaswegian food culture as Charles Rennie Mackintosh is with the city's art nouveau. We were there tonight for my 50th, and the food and service were, as usual, first-rate. The steak was tender and succulent, and the haggis starter was delicious. Utterly indispensable.
A. P.
Nice ambiance and the waiting staff were attentive. I had a lovely steak and chips, but the wife's cod dish was surprisingly small for £18 and she left still hungry.
J. M.
As others have said, expensive but we'll worth it. Very accommodating at finding a large table at no notice. Ambiance is excellent. A bit noisy. But it was Saturday night so to be expected. I do have two criticisms: 1) More than one sliver of bread would have been nice. Would have loved to try one of each. 2) The credit card machine did not work on any three of my credit cards even though the cards worked elsewhere in town all day and the rest of the evening.
r. g.
As far as I can understand to certain extent, small portions of food, I totally don't understand why lemon cheesecake was thin like paper. It was so small, me and my family were joking about it, and at some point it turned it to a meme. Definitely a place where you need to go for starter, main, and dessert, if you want to be full afterwards. Delicious food tho
P. H.
Meal for three.
This was the first time I'd eaten in the restaurant as opposed to the brasserie. Surroundings, service and food all excellent. We all loved our choice of starters, main and dessert (& wine). The place to go for a special night.
M. S.
Great authentic Scottish food! Haggis was wonderful, and the servers were kind and knowledgeable. Next time I am in Glasgow, I will definitely come here again!
P.
Quirky and friendly. Roof terrace is a great place to sit and enjoy a drink.
P. W.
"A Glasgow institution" are the words most used to describe this large and very lively brasserie, with an interior that has the feel of an old conservatory. This is a big machine and the kitchen must have been working flat out on Saturday night as the place was packed. But the food itself was very good and the staff smiling and helpful to the very end late into the night. This is an institution that has not become lazy nor let itself freewheel on its established reputation.
M. S. T.
Amazing food - definitely get the mussels! The server was also very friendly. The area is lively, especially at night, and the restaurant ambience is fresh and airy - lots of greeneries inside!
S. M.
The coley fish is great, staff are super friendly, vibe is amazing
C. D.
Asked for 2 Rare Steaks, got well past Medium. Got a cheesecake for dessert and when it arrived it was two scoops or cheesecake mixture and a handfull of oats sprinkled on top. Our Waitress went home or went on her break after serving us desserts and we waited a full 20 minutes after finishing it to be asked if we were done.
S. A.
The best Restaurant ever!I have been at Ubiquiteous Chip in October 2017 and had a romantic evening there with my boyfriend. Amazing Service, food was great, especially the goats butter and selfmade bread before. They do a great wine service. absolutely no problems changing meals in case of allergies and they make the best pralinees I ever had! Could buy them there and was happy for weeks having that amazing little chocolate babies at home :)
Prize: high-class but worth it!
G. L.
A classic Glasgow restaurant! Thankfully in recent years, they've eased up on the nouvelle cuisine aspect, and are now focusing on quality-sourced food, while still offering new takes on Scottish classics.
It's a little sad that the Alasdair Gray murals are falling into disrepair - and some are hidden away in staff-only stairways. It was always a highlight to view them when I visited.
Z. J.
Beautiful restaurant which has great service, an extensive drinks list and some fantastic food. Would definitely recommend Sunday lunch here. One of the many gems in the West End of Glasgow.
K. R.
Fab little chilled place staff were really lovely and friendly good customer service. Food was beautiful will defently go back . Only disappointment was the no ban of the vape cigarettes with the bar being small and intimate it's very unpleasant when ur eating food and the person after the lady eating her own sandwich decided to puff away while we were eating food.x
J. R.
One of the finest evenings out. Ambience great ,quirky fine dining.
Attentive and knowledgeable staff, with a good sense of humour.
Wish we lived nearer so we could visit more often. Not cheep, but we'll worth it.
Thanks
A. A.
I went there for a weekday lunch with colleagues. And although there were limited halal options, they were kind enough to improvise the fish dish for me which tasted delicious as well. It was a pleasant dining experience
L. W.
Nice atmosphere here, a really original space. I ate in the more expensive restaurant downstairs and had the 3 course set pre-theatre menu, which was good value at £20.95 (Extra charged for side dishes though - why bother with a prix fixe if you do this? Infuriates me every time). The wine was excellent - I had a dry Riesling from the house wines by the glass selection. An amuse bouche of tomato and red pepper gazpacho was okay, decent flavour if a little watery, but not improved by tough bits of chopped cucumber throughout - the velvety texture would have been better left alone, or perhaps the cucumber could have been peeled. Great homemade bread - the warm honey bread was delicious and the butter served fantastic. I had the cured cod with pickled cucumbers to start. The cod itself had a slightly odd texture, definitely as a result of the curing process, but it didn't quite work and was not very flavourful. The best part of the dish was a cured, chargrilled cucumber which was really flavoursome. Although overall it didn't really come together as a dish, it was nice enough to try. Main course of pork belly with celeriac and walnuts was... missing the advertised walnuts, but had gained some spinach. The iron rich spinach and grilled and puréed celeriac were delicious. Again the vegetables made the dish, rather than the protein - the pork was nice enough if a little 'woolly' in texture, and a very fatty piece with hardly any meat on one half of the portion. I finished the meal with a scotch and a great isle of mull cheddar with oatcakes and caramelised onion chutney. Service, after an initial awkward period where I was left sitting alone with no menu for quite some time, was fantastic (thanks Marshall). An enjoyable meal, but I'm not sure the dishes quite lived up to the reputation that preceded this restaurant! I wouldn't want to fork out for the full price mains based on this experience, but will try the brasserie or brunch another time.
F. A.
Outstanding. My husband is lactose intolerant and he has NEVER had such a good dining experience, his own menu - a variation on ours. Scrumptious menu, wine and wonderful celebration of our son graduating from GSA. THANK YOU the Chip.
K. G.
Nice setting and the food was good too. Friendly staff and service was efficient.
J. J. (. W. U.
Food was fabulous. We ate at the brasserie. Really quirky place and well worth a visit, even if you only walk up and down the street....
m. L.
Brilliant atmosphere, and good service
K.
Beautiful quaint restaurant/bar, loved the outside seating area on the top floor (roof), however, it needs a slight refurbishment to keep out the cold and heater over all seats, not just the main 3. The drink selection and staff were fantastic!
C. R.
Wonderful food, excellent service, and an unrivalled atmosphere in Ashton Lane, just off Byres Road. Consistently some of the best fine dining in Glasgow-- the octopus starter and fillet steak being particular highlights on a recent visit...
J. C.
Been a while since I've eaten here but was not disappointed by the food...it was as good as the last time...one thing that did disappoint was our order got mixed up, we didn't get everything we ordered and the service was very slow. We were left looking at empty plates alot longer than we should have been....you know the 'chip' is great food and the service staff obviously know this and don't bother as much!
1.
Was in tonight at the Wee Chip for pre dinner drinks. It became very roudy as a stag was in so we had to move to the roof to be able to talk. Usually it's delightful and quiet. Best for spirits/whiskey drinking not so good as a wine bar
S. S. -. R. M.
Love this place and eating here is nothing short of an event. Amazing food and drink, brilliant waiting team and a very descent whisky selection. Hope to be back some day.
a. m.
Amazing service, all freshly prepared and the food is delicious. Bedt meal I have had in a while. Five stars
K. B.
Iconic place in these great City. Competition is intense in the West of Glasgow so even the Iconic eating houses have to put in a little extra each time. Service is fast and well timed for even a large group, and the range of courses on offer is plenty.
S. L.
The setting and staff are brilliant and the food was extremely tasty. Unfortunately the portion sizes for the vegan menu were tiny, not good to leave a meal hungry.
E. W.
Hot damn. I tend to be disappointed by "the" restaurant in a major city and was expecting to find Ubiquitous Chip—whose name was tossed a half dozen times between guidebooks and concierges—wanting. But, true to its reputation, the venison haggis was to die for. The mussels were cooked perfectly, served in rich and creamy broth. I guess I should have been embarrassed for nearly finishing it with my spoon, but the friendly and welcoming staff made us feel right at home.
H. M.
Popular west end bar serving good wines and beers. Always extremely busy at weekends when you'll find familiar faces of longtime regulars along with visiting students and tourists.
C. J.
Wonderful, one of my very best memories of Glasgow. Stunning place, delicious food and lovely staff
J. J.
Very fond of Ubiquitous Chip. Staff are welcoming and friendly and the space of the venue is very well utilised. Great place to go after majority of Ashton Lane pubs close. Smoking terrace on the roof is also a very nice touch.
G. G.
The best chicken I’ve ever had eat. The restaurant is located in a little very cute road and inside was breathtaking. I loved the little fishes in the pond and I would definitely eat again there.
D. W.
Wondrous , exciting, creative, delicious meals! Very reasonable prices for what you get. There's even a chance you'll see a movie or TV star!! Glad we had to wait a bit and relax with an ale.
S. M.
Valentines dinner with my partner/now husband. Free glass of prosecco. Superb menu, especially fish/seafood dishes. Not overly expensive but we'll worth it.
a. j.
One of the best restaurants I’ve been to! They have great vegetarian and gluten free options. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming!
N. B.
Tonight was the 1st time I have ever eaten in 'the chip' and I was mightly impressed. The staff were all extremely friendly, the food was fantastic and the wine top notch. Having eaten in many of Glasgow's finest eateries I have to say the Ubiquitous Chip is up amongst my favorites.
S. S.
An absolute must for drinks on Ashton Lane. Open till 1am. Best part is the small roof terrace. On cold days heated. Mostly Lovley people around to have an easy after work small talk. I sincerely recommend this place!
L. F.
Tasting menu was definitely worth it and amazing tasting wine too 😍
G. P.
I went to the Ubiquitous Chip in 1975 taken there by Colin Finn whilst on tour with Kraftwerk. Colin kindly explained what Ubiquitous meant!!!! I have never forgotten the place not the meaning!
But this does not look at all like the place where I went. Have you moved or are you something entirely different?
M. G.
We got the butternut squash mousse appetizer, fish sharing plate, wee haggis neeps and teddies and a side dish of stovies to share. It was more than enough. We left stuffed and still had food on our plates.Star for me was the fish sharing plate. It was huge!! There was a big portion of fresh salad with micro greens, onions and arugula. It was dressed with a tangy mustard. There was a huge dollop of smoked haddock and salmon spread with mayo and dill. Reminded me of a NYC deli Jewish spread. Oi vey, it was good! It also had a giant fish cake with potato, haddock and salmon. This thing was huge!! And the staton the plate was the smoked salmon with a cucumber/ dill/ onion/ caper salsa. So savory and good! The plate is served with 6 small crackers so we ordered bread on the side to eat the salmon and dip with. I recommend doing this, otherwise there's not enough crackers to go around.
J. M.
Awesome food but last time we went we had an early evening booking and felt rushed through our meal between each course. Clearly they wanted the table for somebody else.
D. M.
One of the best restaurants in Glasgow, superb food and a wine/whiskey list to match. Staff are excellent to boot. Highly recommend this restaurant.
A. M.
Loved the food although my husband's main course of seabass he felt was a little bland. Other than that would go back. Staff and atmosphere perfect
A. J.
Had lunch with my lovely friend it was very tasty .just a little quick at lifting our plates between courses we had no sooner finished and they were there infact my friend hadn't finished and they wanted to lift her plate..and there were plenty of empty tables so no reason to hurry us along ..even so the food was good and lovely atmosphere
J. H.
Really nice staff and the food was both interesting and tasty. Defintiely worth a meal out with friends.
T. T.
Extraordinary place, tasty food, will come back to try more. Excellent design
C. C.
This is an outstanding bar and restaurant, the highlight of any trip to Glasgow. The food is to die for! Lovely quirky space in a fun, Bohemian area.
J. M.
Beer, fire and service well up to standard. Need to address the crisps issue though - always sold out of plain. What is the point of flavoured crisps?
J.
Great experience, with food that was pretty good all round. Tried the haggis. Actually not too bad. The steak was also well prepared.
S. K.
What a cool little pub in Ashton Lane with so much to it. Excellent and varied menu and range of drinks. It's in Glasgow's West End area which I think is one of the nicest parts of Glasgow.
J. B.
Busy restaurant but the service is impeccable. The food is modern Scottish and delicious. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. A bit pricey but well worth it
A. B.
Several people told us that we needed to eat here when we were in Glasgow and now we know why. The food was top notch, the portions were ample, and the service was excellent.
L. T.
Food was great & ambience lovely. We were surrounded in a garden setting & a giant greenhouse environment. Beautiful view.
N. A.
Amazing setting, beautiful atmosphere, great staff and great food! Went here on a date with my bf and we had a lovely time! Will be back!
T. N.
Very good, especially the lamb. Huge, on 3 floors with split bar, restaurant and brasserie. The brasserie is cheaper but certainly not cheap. Nice vibe
M. W. P.
This is an old restaurant with lot of history. It's bar has a good selection of beers that I would not miss. The food is excellent and the Haggis is superb.
P. S.
Too class service. Taking the current climate seriously. Really good set up with laminated qr readers for menus. Attentive staff. Happy to be back
C. Y.
Good value for money. Very nice setting with ample seats. I'm very picky with where I eat out (complexity vs value) but I can certainly recommend this place.
K. O.
The food here is of a different class. Very tasty but pricey. Located in a quaint part of Glasgow. If you are looking for a treat then this is the place to try.
H. S.
Friendly service and good but possibly slightly overpriced food and drinks
M. M.
Excellent meal. Staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was delicious. Will definitely be back
L. T. K.
Amazing food, great building with an equal atmosphere. Some very nice smoky whisky's and plenty other drink choices.
J. J.
Excellent service. Bar food very good. Mussels, needs and tatties, chips. Friendly, and great atmosphere. Not cheap but worth it.
M. B.
Food was fantastic and the staff very attentive and friendly. Really good experience 👌
D. M.
The Ubiquitous Chop has lost much of its atmosphere as they follow the corona virus rules. Hopefully, it'll return to normal in the near future as this is one of Glasgow's gems.
M. M.
Excellent meal. Staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was delicious. Will definitely be back
A. A.
I went there for a weekday lunch with colleagues. And although there were limited halal options, they were kind enough to improvise the fish dish for me which tasted delicious as well. It was a pleasant dining experience

Amazing Scottish food (well it was vegetarian Haggis) and great ambience. Would recommend this for couples on a date.
J. J.
Excellent service. Bar food very good. Mussels, needs and tatties, chips. Friendly, and great atmosphere. Not cheap but worth it.

Fancy place with good food. The service is a bit slow and prices a bit too high.

Top drawer Glasgow West End eating house for decades. Unique layout. Treat yourselves. (Locally parking is not good - just alerting you)

My English teacher used this establishment to explain the meaning of ubiquitous, in 1973.
45 years later, it's still delivering a joyful experience.
Technically accomplished and served with style, this is the rather posh place you go to when you're proposing or breaking tricky news to your folks.
I was there on xmas eve and my wonderful friends paid.
Something special to say or display?
The UB's the place to be!

One of my favourite places to drink in the West end. Good selection of booze. Open fire and furstenberg on tap....what more do you need.

Food and location are excellent. I would have given 5 stars, unfortunately the second dish was served too late.

For it's namesake, you'd expect that the side order of chips to be outstanding... And they were!.. Rest of the food was cracking too :)

I was really looking forward to eating here, however I felt it was overpriced and the food was unremarkable. Nice atmosphere though, and the staff were lovely.

Lovely food, excellent service. Wine overpriced. Good atmosphere but noisy.

A bit pretentious and the sunroof is invariably overrun with smokers. Food is on the pricey side and it can be hard to get a table - reservations strongly recommend.

Lovely place for that extra special occasion, nice, good Scottish food, it was like waking into a good tardis, looks small outside, but inside us beautifully laid out, with lots of plants, there is an upstairs, it was Luke a conservatory!! The staff were very helpful and friendly, which makes a huge difference!!

Cool place, feels a bit like having dinner in a steam punk greenhouse with good quality Scottish food and friendly staff. Good wine selection
