M. K.Had a lovely meal out with a friend. The burgers were lovely and the chips were nice. My rhubarb gin was the highlight of the evening. Our dessert were lovely but would have preferred the chocolate sauce in the side.
Over all it was a really nice place for a meal and a catch up.

L. W.A great selection of beers, both craft & cask. Not the cheapest bar in Hull by a long way, but the choice makes up for it. Perfect for conversation with an unpretentious & relaxed atmosphere. I didn't try the food but it looked & smelt good & the presentation was amazing. Like the beer it's not cheap, but the portion size seemed generous enough. On my last visit, Monday tea time, it was surprisingly busy with a mixed crowd of early evening tea time eaters which is another good sign that the food must be good.
h. 7.Fantastic food, nice and hot, clean environment friendly staff, it was busy on a Monday constantly people coming in wanting food, we had the burgers 🍔 and they were lush, highly recommend these, next time we will try the pizza’s.
L.This place never fails to impress! I'm not even a vegan and I have to get the vegan food from here because it tastes amazing! We got a right feast during veganuary as it was 50% off! We came on a Saturday afternoon and we was lucky to get a table as we hadn't booked. So I would suggest booking.

It was actually a relatively quiet pub considering the carnage that was happening around near Bob carvers (the chip shop). We stayed here with some friends till closing and it was a perfect conversation level atmosphere. I will be returning!

S. J.I really enjoyed visiting this pub. It was rather quiet when we went which was nice. The menu for gluten free is limiting. £7 for a burger (on its own) which I feel is too much. As I am gluten free they offered me some salad, so I had a burger with salad for £7 (No reduction in price). Chips were £3. So essentially I had a burger, a bit of salad and some chips for £10. Although the food was nice, I don't think this is good value at all. I left feeling hungry. The environment is great for drinking but I won't be eating there again.

He frequents here often and recommended it. Apprehensively I took up his offer.
I decided to order an espresso martini to start while I decided what to eat. Few minutes after browsing the generous selection on the menu I went for "The super green" burger, which is one of the vegan options on the menu. My friend opted for the steam classic as usual.
The food arrived to our table promptly, hot, and looking magnificent. It's safe to say that the food tasted as amazing as it looked. Flavours were beyond sensational, even the fries! Seasoned to perfection. The portion sizes left nothing to be desired for the reasonable price.
I will definitely be returning to Head of Steam and I hope this review encourages more people to try it. You won't be disappointed.

D. P.Had a really good time here. Drinks menu extensive, with a wide cocktail and craft beer selection. Seating offers some terrific views of the Square and Minster. Staff helpful, atmosphere friendly and the place was spotlessly clean. Didn't eat on my visit but the food menu looked interesting with some good combined food and drink offers. Well worth a visit.
T. S.Been to a few Head of Steam bars and they are all similar.... but that is a good thing. Ale lovers can get decent well kept beer which this one in Hull also did well. The food is always tasty and a good selection without being overwhelming. Staff are generally friendly of which this branch was definitely welcoming. My only "massive" concern was proper training. I don't know how the staff are trained here or if they are even aware but my first drink had a clear lipstick mark on the glass. I am bar trained and the first thing I would have done is throw that away, get a fresh glass and pour a new drink. Unfortunately, the barman just poured my drink from the dirty glass into a new glass, then topped it up. Personally, I couldn't give a monkeys but I still believe that he should have done the correct procedure above. I didn't want to embarrass him or create a scene but guys, this is basic hygiene. Please sort it and pass it on.
K. H.Really busy bank holiday Monday. Sorry to see lots of tables reserved, mostly for later on in the day, puts a lot of people off as they don't bother looking at the time written on the cards. Plus no milk for the coffee. Other then that ok.

B. O.This is a biker-style pub, with a huge comprehensive range of craft beers set against lots of varying seating arrangements filled with quite ecletic collection of patrons - a nice chaotic place.
There's a beer board showing reviews, recommendations and prices to the side - but note the beers aren't cheap. I enjoyed a few unique brews there, but didn't get a chance to eat.
I'd certainly visit again to explore more of their range.

A. S.Where to start! I love the beer selection both quantity and quality (favorite has to be gamma ray when it appears). Staff are all friendly, offering some good advice on brews worth trying and samples as needed 😀. Then there is the food available... 'Kerbedge' it is only my opinion but these burgers are one of the best available in this city. So in short good beer, good food and friendly staff why would you go anywhere else 👍

T. Z.They do the best quiz in Yorkshire every Wednesday, selection is great, food is pretty damned decent too. The staff is great, which is surprising because it seems a bit of a hipster bar, but it's just the aesthetic. Parking is a real issue, if you're the designated driver.

R. G.The establishment has certainly changed from the last time I was in. The pub was busy serving food which is always a good sign though we was still able to get a table. The chips we had was amazing with various different styles (toppings) to choose from.

They have a good selection of craft and world beers as well as ciders. Food is great with a range of chips that have different dressings, a must to try.

B.Would normally give a five but was ignored today with Five people jumping in before me use this place regular but will not bother anymore. The bar man said be with you soon the twice served others who came in after me. A few months on now and I visit this place on a regular basis and can only say that my original gripe was addressed by the management and I think it is a really good pub with great beer and food and the service is second to none..

Relaxed vibe - ridiculously succulent burgers (I'd reccomend the Northern Powerhouse but my other half loved the Head of Steam burger). Lively situation in the square and the fully glazed frontage makes the most of the aspect. Lovely interior, bold range of imported cans and bottles AND they even check if you'd prefer the subtitles on or off when you watch the women's World Cup semi on the one TV in the place. Dying to go back.

L. B.Really nice place, huge choice of drinks and amazing food, just be prepared to pay a fair bit for it! :P You get what you pay for at the end of the day, there's a great view of the Minster with outside seating available, and live music on certain days (Thursdays I think?).
J. D.Fully stocked and large bar with an impressive range of beers on tap and in cans/bottles. World beers, local ales, etc.
Also a good range of spirits, including good whiskies, gins and schnapps.
Partnered with Kerb Edge, this bar/grill also serves freshly made burgers, huge chunky chips, all-day breakfasts and large salads. There are also a few sides including frickles (fried pickled veg). Dessert options include pancake stacks with bacon and decadent looking brownies. Food comes out on metal trays which is slightly prison-like but quirky I suppose.
Prices aren't cheap (£3-4 per pint and more for world beers or microbrewery cans etc.) but the quality is high, staff are very nice and very attentive and the seating area is spacious and well decorated.
Only negatives from our experience was that the frickles were slightly too oily (had been in oil with too low temp or for too long?) and the burger meat wasn't pink in the middle as advertised. Still, both were very tasty and the meat was juicy nonetheless. Aside from those very minor points we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We'll be back.

S. Q.One of the coolest spots in Hull Old Town for drinks and/or food. The burgers are always on point. The music is always great and it allows you to speak with others without having to scream. Wide range of atmospheres depending on what time or day you go, from bumpin' saturday nights to chillin' evenings with acoustic live music. Hopefully we will get some sun soon to enjoy it's terrace in the lovely Hull Minster square and have a quiet walk along the charming Prince Street.
