Reviews of The Nags Head

I love the rules of this Sam Smith pub as a digital detox is exactly what everyone needs nowadays and the bonus of not having to listen to any filthy language is wonderful too.
Cheap pints and a really nice place to relax and actually enjoy company with friends.

Nice people, bar staff, management & customers. Good cheap Sam Smith's beers with seating area outside
Sorry to say the beer price was increased by approximately £1 a pint so beer not so cheap anymore

I love the Nags Head. The staff are great & entertaining, the beer/snacks are cheap & good and it's clean & well maintained. Unfortunately the rules of Sam Smith's let them down massively. Well meaning rules that could be OK if applied sensibly are strictly enforced amongst the whole Sam Smith's Estate. The no swearing rule is one. Noone likes a pub full of loud mouths swearing, but context and intent are everything. It's just a blanket ban, no list of words that are banned just "swear words" is very open to interpretation. Mobile phones are essential nowadays. Under Sam Smith's rules you can't even text your other half that you've arrived safely, show a mate a picture that you found funny, read a kindle in peace (book is OK but eBook is antisocial) or text your missus goodnight. It's one thing to ban folk talking on their phone, disrupting conversation versus the texting a mate to tell him you've arrive or where are you. What's the difference between beavering away on a laptop in the corner while enjoying a pint or reading a book by yourself? For me and a few friends it definitely means we consciously vi's less frequently. A loss for us and a loss for the nags.

Quiet, polite staff and a nice pint

Excellent beer and exceptionally cheap prices (£1.40 a pint of Alpine lager).
Strange rules though. You are not allowed to use you phone inside the pub at all, even got asked not to have it on the table.

There’s lots of people on Monday in there ...(sarcasm).bascially,I have to say I had reservations when I went in there, did judge a book by a cover .but it is cheap and cheerful when you don’t have loads of money one weekend best place to go.They even have a coin cup where change is taken out when your a couple of pence short and breaking into a £20 they won’t accept. The bar staff are actually very nice and more than accommodating.
P.s chocolate stout is equivalent to triple chocolate Brooklyn..😱😱ppl take note
From a local chapalton...

This place is one of the last bastions for 'salt of the earth' drinkers in Chapel Allerton. It smells, but it's a genuine place with no pretentions.

Cheap old school boozer. The usual range of Sam Smith's drinks. Nothing exceptional but anywhere you can by a round for four people for £8 has its place.
