Had a nice time here as a rest point on our walk. I ordered gammon egg and pineapple, it was nice but the meat portion was too big and the gammon was insanely salty, needed soaking. The chips were lovely chip shop style. My partner ordered steak and chips and the steak wasn’t the best but okay, the peppercorn sauce was not good. Ordered side veggies and they were over cooked. Overall had a nice time.

First time at this pub, and nothing but positive opinions on it! Absolutely fantastic service from start to finish, proper tasty homemade food (steak and ale pie was delicious!), gorgeous red win (Shiraz!) and friendly locals. All in all a lovely Sunday night spent in a proper lovely pub! Will definitely be back again.

Always welcoming, been coming for many years. Great to see a successful independent pub. Good pub food. Good beer. A great place to walk to. They now have plastic shoe covers so you don't feel guilty about muddy footwear!

Lovely quaint pub, food was delicious and staff was kind. Love meeting family here and having a good old matter! I like the choice of being able to buy a small portion or a larger portion, dessert are delicious too. Reasonable prices I will be returning.

Fantastic home-made grub, with a warm welcome! My request to vary the menu option with more veg was accommodated easily, and the food was just simply delicious. Excellent value too. Would heartily recommend a visit.

I've lived not far from the Red Lion for years and only recently discovered that it's actually a decent pub. Good, honest pub food, live entertainment every so often, tap room to watch sports. Regular beer Landlord and a couple of others. Great outdoor space (weather permitting). Friendly staff. Proper pub unlike the awful Dexter at Slaid Hill.

Great place, car park is fairly large although we're lucky enough to be able to walk here. The landlord keeps his beers well and the meals are good hearty pub food, small dishes are available. Lovely to sit out in a country pub garden.

Extremely well run village pub, heart of the village which is rare these days. Proper tap room for sports and cosy lounge for great pub grub. The pizzas are awesome and the steak pie with real chips is perfect. Always welcoming, highly recommend.

Great food, in a clean and cosy environment. It may not be the most modern or upscale places but the staff are spot on, helpful and welcoming. The food is fantastic, home made and wholesome. The rabbit stew is a firm favorite! I would definitely go for one of the specials if you do go. A great family friendly boozer with some seriously tasty foods.

First time coming to this pub wanted to take my fiance out for a Sunday meal Easy to locate. As we walked in their was a good atmosphere and when we went to the bar we straight away got served. Very helpful and friendly helping us to choose the best table for us. The food came not long after ordering and was a large portion with big chunks of meat and tomatoes, even the salad was exceptional. Very filling can definitely tell its home cooked great price for money will definitely be coming back

Traditional village pub with home cooked food. Plenty of outside tables and chairs in sunny positions. Car park shares the bottle bank. Well worth a visit or two and good for large groups to meet up. Staff friendly and helpful. Menus on a clipboard in a box by the bar with a selection of newspapers hanging up by the bar.

I came to the Red Lion recently along with my girlfriend, i never share reviews normally but i felt compelled due to the experience i had. The food and drink was well priced, but most importantly the staff were absolutely fantastic. I never normally name and identify individuals but Ross who works behind the bar, was absolutely brilliant, he made us feel so welcome and he was clearly a decent bloke. He is an absolute credit to the business and they will do well to retain him. I look forward to returning and hopefully time it in to catch up with Ross and maybe end up having a few beers after on me!

First visit and pleasantly surprised. Good nourishing food served which is hot and appetising Staff friendly and helpful. Welcomes children. Reasonably priced and located in the heart of Shadwell. I had Cumberland sausage, mash and veg folloeed by treacle sponge and ice cream. My husband had chicken jalfresi with rice and naan followed by apple crumble with custard. Both meals were delicious and served hot. Will definitely return
