Quiet place at 15:00 on a Friday but that meant we were served quickly. Service was very good and drinks were served at the table. You can see in the photos that the gents are not a very nice place to have to use. Looked like they had not really given it much thought. The sinks look particularly grotty. Food was delicious and so was the wheat beer I had. So definitely a place I will return but will hope they read this and hope they have redecorated the loos by the time I do!

Nice pub in Leicester city centre. Has a wide selection of beers, cocktails and mocktails. Also has small food menu. Has many seats in differents styles, even a sofa section with a fully functional GameCube connected to TV. Medium price. Ideal to go with friends. Opens until very late. Had s little garden behind for smokers. There is a another space upstairs for parties, concerts and clubbing. Located in the historic gas offices from Leicester.

Awesome venue for live music - especially for the rock/alternative scene. Highly recommend. I always have a good night when I go there. Nice variety of drinks, food is good and the staff are great. Plus, there's always security on the door during the busier times of the week so you always feel safe. In fact, the last time I visited Firebug, I made the doorman aware of a situation and the dealt with it perfectly, ensuring everyone was safe.

Always have a lovely time here. There's nights for everything you could want. The food is really nice. They have comfy seats. The cocktails are nice. Definitely one of my favourite bars in Leicester. And the staff are lovely!

The atmosphere here is beautiful, the range of drinks including their own quicktails, ice teas, shots and more are amazing. Seating downstairs, upstairs and in the garden area is great, the staff are friendly and make the experience even better and to top it all off the music is just great!!! I would definitely recommend this place as a night out with some friends. The upstairs hosts club nights sometimes as well I've heard and is really cozy , has a stage for karaoke and a lounge type area. All in all a great bar that I go to often when I'm in Leicester.

Been going here for years and seen shows hosted on the first floor. Drinks are always good with limited edition specials with well done board styles and names. Friendly staff and inclusive to everyone. Food is served during the day and is dog friendly too.

Firebug is a great alternative bar in Leicester hosting a wide range of spirits/beers etc and lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Upstairs there is a small music/events venue and a further bar area.

Excellent as always. First time I've been in during the pandemic, all very well handled from checking in to one way systems. Staff were helpful and friendly when bringing drinks to the table, tables were cleaned between uses and despite the general strangeness of being out drinking in covid times, they made us feel welcome. Great selection of drinks, very much looking forward to going back when things have relaxed a little! Highly recommended, and always feels like a safe, inclusive place to relax and have a drink.

Used to be my favourite bar in Leicester, since reopening from Covid however it's gone a bit downhill. Positives include Camden Hells on draught, decent cocktail prices and mostly they're mixed well and taste good. I also like the LGBT+ friendly nature and clientele and staff are mostly friendly and non-intimidating to people from marginalised groups. Sadly some things have disappointed me on more recent visits. I'm glad I don't have to travel far to get here as I've been believing it would be open and found it closed or only for ticketed functions several times, with no clear indication of this online. Secondly I've never been to a venue where people exempt from wearing face coverings are expected to sign a register specifically for this. I don't understand the purpose and this detracts from the inclusiveness for people with disabilities and mental health conditions. Thirdly the food is cheap but also not very good, the beef burger was dry and overcooked and the curly fries were nearly cold and hard. It's still a nice bar but standards need to be re-upped.

Brilliant bar. A nice quiet place to hide in the day with some great options for food, and on the weekend a brilliant place to drink! The atmosphere is a rock enthused one, where anyone is welcome (given you dont cause trouble for anyone). The bartenders are lovely, although maybe a tad tired after some long days - overall, a great place with character (and often some interesting characters). Includes an open beer garden perfect for a drink and a smoke, and a friendly chat.

What can you say, the pub is older than me. It's got history, a lovely student community and everyone is made to feel welcome. Drinks are a reasonable price for the city and their is a great selection from cocktails through to craft beer. Smoking are is the best place to chat and listen to the live bands. (and I don't smoke)

Great place to go on a Friday night for one on the few places in Leicester for some metal 👍 only problem is there is only ever one member of staff working the bar upstairs, which simply doesn't cut it. 2 would be better, 3 would be ideal. Waiting times for a drink can be close to half an hour sometimes. If there were extra staff upstairs, 5 stars all the way

Only reason this place does not get 5 stars...i used to love coming here for their upstairs music room but lately its always being hired out for private parties. I mean I don't blame them firebug is great but.... I really want to go upstairs and i havent had the chance in months :( Otherwise firebug is great. Bar staff are friendly and polite. The garden is a good size and has ample seating and tables. You have the main area downstairs with plenty of seating and an upstairs with music and a dance floor.

Not only that but it's open very late so you can go all night. Unfortunately food is very disappointing. I tried the enchiladas and the meat feast melt, both were awful.

Firebug is a great place! Drink prices aren't the best but you can always trust Firebug to be open when you stumble out the club at 3am and are in need of more alcohol before Mac Donalds (Next door). They also currently do metal nights upstairs which is pretty cool!

Expensive drinks, but the great atmosphere, nice outside area and friendly crowd that go in there make up for that. One of my favourite bars in Leicester. There is a very good range of drinks, mixers and cocktails to choose from, you’ll find anything you want. This bar is also popular with the alternative crowd, upstairs there is often bands playing and every 1st Friday of every month there is a night called Feedback (which is free); here they play the likes of anything Rock / Metal / Punk / Deathcore / Thrash / Alternative.

Probably the most laid back and chilled bar in town. If you want to relax, Firebug is the place. Lots of big tables, big couches. As it's quite a big place it never feels too crowded in there (except for the beer garden, which gets quite rammed). I find it a really good place to go to late at night and often find myself there post 2am as a place to go to wind down before home. Good selection of drinks, always lovely people there. Not sure I have ever been there and not got into several good-humoured random chats with complete strangers - it's that kind of place. Good choice of music downstairs and often have live music upstairs on a weekend.

What a cooky venue, half pub, half comedy bar style place. A bit longer than wide which makes it fun if you're in the first few rows, this place also has decent food choices although it seems fairly pricey for what it has to offer.

Draught, spirits, cocktails, food and even cigarettes if you want! This bar doesn't have a particular style so all manner of people would have fun here. More "pub" than "club", you'd be able to talk to your friends or order a drink without screaming over a speaker system. There are speciality nights such as pub quizz, live music and discos so check which night does what. COVID Update: Firebug have outfitted more tables in front of the bar and table service has been implemented. Make sure you wear a mask and book a table before you turn up. Smoking area is still available but only go out in no more than pairs and don't crowd the middle of the area.

This pub has been around for years now. Offering cocktails, beers and ciders. Standard CD that they have been playing on repeat for the past 10 years. Occasionally they offer a silent disco, would strongly recommend getting down to 1 as they are always good fun

Love a bit of firebug! Really chill vibes and such a good crowd, it's open super late and recently it's gotten even better now that they're running frequent club nights (please keep running them!) which increases the space but most importantly provides Leicester with a proper rock scene (let's not talk about how mosh has gone nowadays...). Drinks are reasonably priced, but their happy hour on weekends is midnight till 2am which is perfect timing. Also on Thursdays they have outrageously cheap cocktails upstairs! Staff are really friendly too!

Firebug is one of those bars that's been around for years and doesn't really change, drinks range is great and atmosphere is always pleasant. Almost always somewhere to sit and they often have good bands on too. It opens late so it's a popular watering hole for late night party goers. Music is modern and helps great and gets you warmed up for a club or chilled out after a club

I've been here a couple of times, both on a Saturday night and on a sunday for Uprising aftermath (festival). Stage upstairs and downstairs for bands to play. Sound is decent. Outside covered smoking area which can get pretty packed on a busy night. Food available here. Metal played on a Saturday night (not sure if this was purposefully for the festival crowd or a general thing), but for some reason the DJ felt the need to try and "mash up" songs which didn't really work at all and meant people couldn't really dance.

A dive bar/ pub with upstairs music venue and pool tables. Cocktails are reasonably priced but can vary wildly in quality depending on the bartender. Spirit selection is good but you are usually better off sticking with beer when you consider the price of a spirit mixer.

Without a doubt, this is my favourite bar in Leicester. There is nothing I enjoy more than consuming 23x the recommended daily allowance of sugar in a single evening for the reasonable price of some pounds per drink (can never remember). I think part of firebug's unique appeal is the fact it stays open, and serving alcohol, to pretty much anyone until 4am. The result of this is multiple people getting stuck trying to sneak in through the window... being refused entry is the most heinous of insults and simply cannot be tolerated. Great viewing for us standard customers, though.

Normally love this place but had a bit of a gripe this time hence the 3/5 rating. My partner and his friend qued up at the bar and they were stood there for half an hour. It wasn't massively busy as it is usually as it was a Monday (weekends can take a while to get served understandably) but according to them the barman kept overlooking them and I saw they only got served when about 95% of the other customers had been served and the bar was cleared of them (a LOT of them had only just gotten to the bar and got served way quicker than they did). I can appreciate it's hard to serve people absolutely correctly in the order they turn up but this one bar man seemed oblivious as he forget them for 30 mins on a off peak day, (partner also had agro with someone pushing in but that's not really firebugs fault) which really sucked as we would have liked to have gotten a few more drinks in before closing and it put a bit of downer on the night. We usually love this place but it's put us off from going in the evenings :( sorry :( I hope this is improved on as I usually really like this place. Will probably post Tripadviser review too so I apologise for duplicate comments in advance (google allows for better customer/business comms than TA so posting here first) xx

I often come to Firebug for dinner to escape a very busy town most weekends. I wouldn't choose anywhere else in Leicester to go. The food is incredible and home made, never left unsatisfied after. I usually go for the FB burger (try it if you haven't!) home made beef pattys and home made chips definitely an indulgent hearty meal. Firebug is always the choice of bar to go on a night out, at any time, because its pretty much open all the time! The Halloween gig I went to was truly an amazing night out indeed, they put on a great show for all the punters. Bands up and downstairs, great spooky decorations and competitions all round, the place gets so busy and the bar staff deserve a medal, they are great and make very tasty cocktails! Definitely pay them a visit if you haven't already, you wont regret it. 10/10. Wicked place!
