Reviews of The Bakers Arms Inn
J. N.
A really lovely place to have a meal and a drink. We had the 6 course valentines set menu and it couldn't have been better. The food was beautifully cooked and well presented. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was a lovely relaxed evening and we will definitely be going back.
T. C.
Great outdoor seating. Cozy old pub, mind the low ceilings. Bar staff friendly and professional drinks a little on the pricey side but I guess that's the same most places these days. Everards beer on tap and a great pint of Tiger. Food menu outstanding on restaurant side and serves a wide range of bistro food. For me the food is some of the best of its food category in South Leicester.
S. T.
Stopped here for Sunday lunch and we weren't let down. Absolutely beautiful food. Lovely staff and a lovely quaint little pub. Definitely worth stopping by for.
Thanks guys.
N. w.
The food was pricey and disappointed on a few of the courses, starter under cooked, main lacking in quantity and veg sparse and undercooked, liquor coffee undrinkable as far too much sugar and too sweet. Voiced our concerns and standard response 'sorry about that' and no offer of complimentary drink even. Wouldn't go back in a hurry.
M.
Great food and a lovely atmosphere, so Christmasy
S.
Nice location. Be careful of the low beams. Not impressed with the bar food. Had to send back the burger twice as it wasnt cooked properly. In fact the 2nd one was less cooked than the first. Gave us a refund
D. W.
Food is always great. Been again tonight, can't fault it... again x friendly staff, nice place with busy bar.
Updated 21Apr22 - have a restaurant menu and a bar menu, equally great. Sat outside and ordered from the similar bar menu. Would recommend again
r. s.
First time to The Bakers Arms and really enjoyed it the weather was really nice so we outside. The building is very old and has a thatched roof and for anyone tall be warned lots of low ceilings. The pub inside is really nice and spacious. We had food and drink will here and had can say the food is really good and recommended. Had a croque monsier and the pork belly and the fish of the dayall tasted amazing and looked great on the plate had some desserts to finish of our lunch worth a visit really nice place
K. M. J.
We really enjoyed this place! The staff was great- super friendly and fun! We had the Tiger Pie- absolutely delicious and the Fish and Chips- outstanding! And... the mash were brilliant! Our friends who live in the area introduced us to this place. Thanks Andy and Sue!
D. F.
Great local pub, reasonably priced with a lovely beer garden and more seating in the courtyard area.
S. M.
Barmaids very quite, never smiled in the time we were there. Small & friendly pub with a good atmosphere
C. G.
Just tried their new basket menu. The food was pretty good. These chips were a bit basic... A chunky chip or skin on fries would've been nicer. Lovely beer garden. Old historical interior. Friendly service.
L. 2.
Possibly one of the nicest Sunday lunches I've had for a while .
Staff were friendly and the food was amazing very very reasonable price
J. S.
Best Sunday lunch ever.
Great service, lovely pub.
Will go back.
L. H.
Loved this pub felt like I was in a hobbit world.... Lovely friendly staff and good service
R. S.
Lovely place. Very old building, watch your head on them low ceilings. Food was good & staff friendly. Large range of gins on the menu.
T. C.

H. J.
Very good food. The beer looked good too but I was driving 😭
S. S.
Bloody expensive but nice pub
M. F.
Brill service and the food was amazing. We have fish and chips and a pie with p mash. Recommend visiting this place.
M. R.
A great tradditiknal pub with excellent food and attentive service. I had an alcohol free G&T that was delicious! Our lunch was excellent in beautiful suroundings. Highly recommended.
B. W.
Fantastic place for food , service and atmosphere.
W. R.
Stunning place will definitely be back food and service second to none 100% customer satisfaction.
J. B.
This is the type of pub you would want to own. It looks fantastic from the outside and the inside is in keeping without being twee. The staff are friendly and the cocktails were spot on.
R. M.
Very small portions, my wife asked for sticky toffee pudding with custard, when it was brought out it came with ice cream, asked for it to be changed, fetched custard to go with ice cream!!???
R. W.
Pleasant pint, sensible seating. Table service, price of a pint reasonable. Price of small lemonade not so. Didn't eat there maybe another time when I've saved up.
E. W.
Cosy historical pub. Serves a good selection of food & drinks.
t. m.
Beautiful old pub, worth a visit just for the history.
J. S.
A very nice find on our travels. A delicious Sunday Roast and a nice atmosphere. The gin selection was great too.
J. B.
One of the very few Olde Worldy pubs left. Low beams and small bars. Very nice garden. Lots of trad beers. What's not to like.
p. g.
OMG, the food is just amazing. Never had a bad meal from here. One of the loveliest pubs I've ever been to.
K. C.
Very nice old pub. I will be back
M. E.
Just Perfect.
I came here lunch the other day with my hubby.
We hadn't been to this pub for years.
I'm really glad we decided to try it for lunch.
The service was just lovely ,the landlord was such a nice ,warm and friendly host.
The food was beautifully presented and very tasty.
It's a long time since we have been to such a really nice down to earth pub with a great menu .
The added bonus was the friendly personal touch.
We couldn't fault any of it.
It's such a shame we aren't close enough for it to be our local.
10/10
T. W.
The restaurant and food were very good. Menu interesting and exciting. The restaurant was nearly empty and the person who seated us, who was new to the role, placed us very close to 2 elderly people. I understand the need to use up the tables for 2 first, l am sure there were others, not so close to each other. It was intimidating for both sets of people. Otherwise the food service personnel had excellent customer service skills. Fish was slightly overcooked. That is being pinikity though! I was treating my niece, who had recently returned to live in England, from living in France and Holland. Quite discerning about her food and surroundings and she found it very cold by the window. This is meant to be positive feedback to help restaurant achieve its potential and most of the visit was excellent.
J. H.
Lovely food the owner was very nice
A. B.
Been here a few times, but it's been years. We were pleasantly surprised at the gin menu. It breaks down the selections and recommendations for you, which was brilliant. We actually took photos of it and used it as guidance for the rest of our trip. Someone here really knows their stuff! Food was just perfect at a reasonable price. Atmosphere was hard to beat. We will be back and will bring anyone visiting us to this place!
S. T.
Lovely traditional pub with lots beams and friendly staff ...
Great ales and ciders too
J. C.
Fantastic food, drinks and service in a beautiful historical venue. Its thatched roof and well tended beer garden make it great for summer drinks or alfresco dining. The interior is wonderful with exposed brick work and low beams creating a vintage and homely feel. This is a venue I couldn't recommend enough.
P. D.
Very Covid savvy.
I know it's just up the road!!! But the food was superb as always. Made your mouth water watching it arrive at the table. Even the younger one's who think a big mac is king, throughly enjoyed their meals.
The ambience is second to none, and the staff are always friendly and attentive.
Will we be going back ?? You better believe it.
J. P.
After eventually finding a way in the barman was not too helpful. No charisma. We had drinks for a couple of hours with family and friends then we as a couple went into the restaurant. Staff there totally different. Engaging charming and attentive. Food was beautiful and plenty of it. Great service.
I. C.
Had a really nice meal. Stuffed mushroom with bacon and cheese followed by Rack of lamb and chocolate brownie. Great service. Food came out really quickly. The only complaint I have is that the lamb was a bit overpriced for the size of the portion.
r. c.
What a lovely little find . Lovely little cosy pub. Great interior and detail. Reasonably priced I did have too ask for my meal to be heated up however.. they heated it up and it tasted great. Ok the carrots were over done to my liking but most like a mushy tasting carrot maybe. Overall great service as in polite staff .
D. W.
Flavoursome Sunday roast meal at a reasonable price. Fresh vegetables including cauliflower in a nice white sauce, baby carrots, broccoli just cooked to perfection, with crispy roast potatoes and a good sized Yorkshire pudding, unfortunately the lamb and beef was slightly tough and chewy but with a nice meaty flavor with sprigs of thyme.. The service is beautifully cheerful, fast, polite and with good timing. The pub is 800 years old with oak beams and low ceilings, real fires in the winter, and has been looked after and kept clean. Recommended.
R. C.
Cosy, historic back street pub. Good quality ales and often still ciders to be enjoyed with friendly bar staff. Majority of the pub is set aside for diners and drinkers are herded into the end of the building. Food is well presented but not always offering value.
H. H.
Great place food was excellent and presentation was lovely and staff were very nice and polite definitely a place l would go again
G. M.
Fantastic food and great service, comments from other people say its pricey, (which is not true) if you appreciate fantastic food with a excellent taste and their wines are absolutely excellent and well sourced to complement all of the menu. I have no doubt it is one of the best places to eat for people who appreciate there food and quality of service, very attentive staff and food was excellent.
J. I.
Absolutely love this pub has great character and does everything right. If you want quality food or just a pint in a garden this is your place. The service is great and the staff are warm and welcoming. Cannot fault it.
S. S.
Lovely staff and a great historic building. Difficult for wheel chair access and also very low beams in ceiling as built in 1400s. Food was very carefully presented and beautifully cooked. Hope to visit again soon.
N. M.
Lovely atmosphere and loved the decor of the pub. Also a lovely garden area outside and plenty of seats to sit down. The risotto was too al dente and very small portion compared to the price. The water cress on top of it didn't look too fresh either. However the crumble and cheesecake that we he had was lovely. The mocha was not nice either very watery and tasted more just like plain cofee. Friendly staff just the waitress asked if the food was ok and she had already walked halfway to the bar by the time I could speak so didn't really care to get an opinion just asked as she had to.
Quite overpriced for what it is.
J. H.
Really excellent food. Service was good. And it's a nice pub. Just has low ceilings which is a bit annoying..
I don't seem to be able to do the price thing, but my meal alone came to just shy of £40. So bear that in mind..
C.
Visited several times now and the place is lovely and quirky, the food is exceptional, and the staff are very friendly. Also the smartness of the staff makes a brilliant impression. We travel 1.5hours to come here and keep coming back! Thank you.
J. C.
Love the Bakers Arms, such a nice pub / restaurant haven't tried the food yet but it looks really nice. Great choice of drinks olde world quaint style pub plently of seating. Nicely decorated and a lovely garden.
J. M.
Very good Sunday lunch here
D. H.
Started in the Beer garden, masks required before you sit. Table service, the round to the heated area for more beer.
Great service.
D. A.
Fantastic food and superb service. Such a relaxing atmosphere with low ceilings (I'm only 5ft 6 so I'm fine), a real hidden gem. Great value for money. No more Sunday lunches at home!
r. b.
Just popped in for a quick drink, nice ambience, quirky old building. The beer was fine but was expensive. Brought 4 drinks in another pub last weekend, but 2 drinks in here were only £1 less.
E. L.
Wonderful real country pub to eat or just a drink dogs wecome outside. The food was a cut above your average, varied menu with prices slightly more, well presented and generous .
D. W.
Used to be a proper pub now it's more of a restaurant the food is good but quite expensive.
Minimum spend on card is annoying and it's put me off having an extra drink there after a few.
Great character with the low ceilings, and great beer garden.
J. H.
Beautiful old pub, lovely atmosphere and nice food. I was a little disappointed with the attitude of the staff member when I found a piece of plastic food wrap in my meal, instead of offering an apology, he treated it as a joke.
A. W.
Very atmospheric, low ceilings, thatch roof. Excellent service, drinks good too. V glad to see ladies toilets had upgrade. Now it is all lovely
D. R.
This is my favorite public house and I am lucky enough to be able to walk the dog there on a weekly basis. The food is great and the service is outstanding. It is in my top five for a simple night out of for a special anniversary event.
S. T.
The Bakers Arms, how much this has changed since I moved to Blaby 9 years ago, what used to be a rugby pub with a bit of food on offer in the shabby restaurant side, this has become one of Blabys best if not the best restaurant in town. Yes it still has the rugby pub feel on one side but the restaurant is excellent. The food never lets you down, usually they don't mind you making alterations to the menu and an excellent wine selection. Some people will say its a little pricey but I think you are getting what you pay for and the price is worth the quality.
A. M.
Love this pub restaurant. Great staff, food and drink excellent. Always make us and our dogs very welcome. A great stop off after a dog walk or cycle ride too.
D. H.
First class eating experience! We have dined with Chris & his wonderful team several times and last weekend he put on the most fantastic Hallowe'en party for my daughters 18th birthday party. Nothing was too much trouble and they certainly went the extra mile to provide a beautiful venue & stunning food from a menu conjured up for the event! Highly recommended!!
J. F.
Fantastic staff very helpful and very polite good all round service staff very helpful and very polite good
F. V.
Great food at an old local pub !
S. A.
Fantastic period pub with cracking food. I must say the staff were very helpful and friendly too. Occasionally cold breeze when the door opens though
M. H.
Good selection, great service, large beer garden. Low ceilings as was the style of 1485. You can't order food in the bar or just drinks in the restaurant. Can be cramp when busy.
B.
Dog friendly, lovely pub
J. S.
Very oldy worldly pub that serves good beers and food
m. m.
Excellent food, great atmosphere and service. A terrific pub meal experience.
D. L.
Good old traditional English pub with thatched roof good food and drinks
D. T.
Love the place for a drink and will continue going, but the new menu does not suit the environment too over priced, go back to the old menu or look at the prices.
Staff always helpful but a empty restaurant is never good.
V. B.
How this has changed since last time I went to visit.
Lovely cosy but stylish place to eat, lovely staff, great food well worth the money and good choice of wines, looking forward to a return visit soon *****

Good food, helpful staff. Took our dog out and stopped for lunch
T. M.
Great place to eat great food, good for a special occasion. The setting is a cross between modern and traditional pub with a bar area separate from the restaurant.
J. R.
I recently organised a surprise 70th birthday party for my Mum. George and the team at The Bakers Arms in Blaby put on a fantastic afternoon tea. They were really flexible on the sandwich fillings, the cakes were delicious and enormous and all the guests commented on how nice the food was. There were lots of really nice little touches like the room being nicely decorated and the menu personalised with my Mum's name on.
J. R.
Nice garden for the sunshine
G. M.

Saying it's the best pub in Blaby is a bit of a backhanded compliment. Good food and beer in real old pub is not so easy to find these days.
