Reviews of Lincolnshire Poacher
C. g. B.
I ordered a steak rare. This came back perfect. I have been to a few different places around Lincoln not been at the Poacher for years.. food was excellent it actually came to the table hot and you could feel the heat coming off the food. Everything was perfect even down to the price. Table service very informative and also knowledgeable which is a surprise. Clean and tidy and a good atmosphere.. I would recommend the food to anybody.. and like I said the price was very good
T. P.
We often call here. It is a nice relaxing place to have a snack or meal and a drink. There is a garden with tables too. The bar service is quick despite the number of people waiting. On Sunday there is a nice carvery. There is a pool table if you like pool.
Nice for families or couples or singles - never rowdy.
We like the variety of food and puddings and the comfortable atmosphere. Nothing to dislike about The Poacher!".
k. t.
Good atmosphere here chilled. Staff helpful prices are good. Enjoy mega mix grill we went party of 6 all plates finished off. Good sign. Disabled ♿ people you won't have a problem

The Lincolnshire Poacher is a very pleasant restaurant and bar with ample parking and a fair sized dining area.
The menu is fairly extensive and very much in the "pub grub" tradition. There are some vegetarian options but not that many. We have been on several occasions and the food has been (very) hot, tasty and nicely presented. Booking is advisable, not only because it can get pretty busy but also because the kitchen sometimes closes quite early, 7pm on our last visit.
The premises are clean, comfortable and well lit.The staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient.
Access to the building is reasonably wheelchair friendly but assistance would probably be needed with the doors.

Always a warm welcome here, and the staff always appear happy, and engage in a friendly manner. Good value food and drinks, and very enjoyable too. Kids play area is in a safe location, and they love it! Keep doing what you're doing so well, and we'll see you soon. Thank you.

Standard pub fayre. Sadly our food wasn't that great: wrong orders, cold food, manky salad leaves. They did sort things out.
The staff were very helpful and it was convenient as it had a kids area and plenty of space.
At the time of the visit looked a bit shabby in places.... But it must be so difficult to even make pubs etc pay with the crazy fuel prices.... So quite understand not being able to keep it tip top.
A. M.
Live locally to The Poacher so I visit fairly regularly, mainly due to lack of any alternatives. The food is reasonably OK and the staff are friendly and helpful, but the place is becoming a real dive. All the furniture is looking very tired and dirty, and outside there's lots of things broken and just left to rot. Zero maintenance seems to be done on the place. Wouldn't consider bringing any visitors here but it's alright for a pint while the kids play on the slide.
G. S.
Sunday Carvery was lovely as were the Staff. The whole place is 'tired' though. Outside needs a good paint, or a good tidy up and sweep round at least. It's clearly a struggling business. Both Cask Ales I had (probably the only two on) were badly kept. The Courage Directors was stale and lifeless. I should have guessed as everybody else was drinking bottled Lagers. Despite the lovely food, and great Carvery bloke, I won't be going back. Gx
P. M.
Good service food great steak a little bit more than medium rare but as a mixed grill goes very enjoyable misses went for a burger cleared the plate so obviously liked it . Will be in again soon
J. K.
absolutely fantastic friendly and helpful staff. theres also lovely decor and a brill large sheltered garden. they seem to have a lot of offers on too. a must try.
S. M.
Good food. Very spacious pub. Friendly staff !! I would certainly recommend a visit !
G. C.
Loved our meals!!!
Great atmosphere
Got a table straight away without booking one 😁
Great place to take the children, but make sure you have plenty of coins for all the childrens machines.
1st time ever that my 5yr old Grandson has finished off a starter, main and pudding in one sitting.
I only gave 4 star as child's order was wrong. We ordered pizza, they brought out pasta. Waitress ask if we wanted to change it, as he loves both 😍 we wasn't too bothered.
Staff couldn't be faulted, Polite and friendly.
T. B.
We had been the week before and had an amazing meal. Mixed grill with a steak came out nice and hot, exactly as ordered. Hunters chicken too. Drinks served with a smile. Returned last night, same service but limited menu due to a kitchen issues, but still the same standard of food. Definitely returning in the future. Compliments to all the staff & Chef
A. F.
Good services, good prices, decent food. Love the poker on a Monday and quiz on Wednesday!
S. D.
Nice place to eat, lovely big place, Food was good, nice and hot, which is important to me, only thing to fault was it was cold in there, had to keep my coat on
Y. B. a. L.
It is nice and spacious, food was reasonable. Child friendly with outdoor activity and play equipment was enjoyed by my three year old. Car parking was good, I may return in future.
R. J.
We didn’t find the menu choices particularly great this time but we liked what we had, like another table by us we were disappointed with the portion size and was advised this was due to the food arriving pre portioned.
Three of us had southern fried chicken with chicken gravy… I think research needs to be done into this as it should not be watery instant gravy, should be thick and tasty to dip the food in.
M. E.
This was our first visit to the Poacher and you didn't disappoint.
The food was lovely, the staff were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble we will certainly be returning.
Thank you all so much for an EPIC meal.
A. M.
Had a burger very good experience. Tasty fries, fresh bun and not bad patty.
E. C.
The plus for me, they warm the bloody plates which keeps my food warmer, my pet hate is being served food on a cold plate, besides that the meal was great, service was lovely and all together a good experience. Thanks everyone.🤠
V. H.
Staff were very attentive, food is very reasonably priced, portions were large, the pub was very busy it didn't take long to be served. We will be returning.
J. S.
It was my first visit. The menu gave a good choice. The price's were very good. When the food came it was well presented, hot and taste. The only thing I'd mention is when I visited the ladies toilet. They were in need of some maintenance,as one had a seat missing, the doors needed freshening. Some of the seating in the restaurant needed replacing.
L. G.
Although I've had the odd complaint for this place, you get what you pay for
That being said, when they get it right, it's brilliant!
Always fast service too
S. S.
Really good sized portions and quality for the prize. I would say you can most is not freshly made, but the size makes up for this. The large size of the Poacher makes 8t family friendly, it's not a spot for a quiet meal, but ideal for a fun and easy end of the week group meal.
I had the breaded mushrooms, Movin' Mountains burger and the cookie cheesecake.
I would be happy to come here again. The service is friendly and welcome, if a little slow on the bar, but food times are very prompt.
O. S.
Had a really lovely meal. Staff were very polite and friendly. Olivia looked after us very well.
B. D.
Food good for money. But would have been nice if the staff come to the table as it was I feel like I was waiting in a canteen.
J. B.
Nice place to eat reasonably priced, tast food or just pop in for a drink or game of pool, the weather wasn't great for sitting out but their is a nice secure area for families with a play area
G. W.
Brilliant service and the food was great the only complaint is with the veg which was a bit too undercooked but everybody's taste is different
P. J.
This was our second visit to the pub. Although we were told that only the carvery was available due to problems in the kitchen the standard of the carvery was not as good as our previous visit. It was on the cold side and not very good quality
L. K.
Sunday roasts are good food at a reasonable price, a good selection of veg and sauces to accompany it.
There is something for everyone.
M. M.
Family friendly pub, friendly staff with a great selection of beer and food. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
S. M.
I have already recommended your pub to our neighbours. The food was good so was the service, the venue was a bit chilly when we arrived but warmed up as more people came in. It wasn’t too overcrowded I think some social distancing was still adhered to. All in all a pleasant experience.
1.
Friendly and helpful bar staff food was quick and good ,leather type chairs near bar could do with refurbish
C. B.
Good food at sensible price. Good service. Great place to meet groups of people as large seating areas. Will deffo go back for right event. 😁
M. G.
Everything was just fine. The service was good and friendly.
The only reason for giving a 9, rather than a 10, was that my gammon steak was underdone, but I asked for it to be cooked more thoroughly and this was quickly and politely rectified.
S. S.
Just like a wetherspoons family friendly play area and heated outdoor heating no need to book
L. “. C.
It has been 3 yes since visiting the poacher as we were not impressed then, but boy is there a difference, the food was gorgeous, there was six of us and we all loved it, the only reason you haven't got 5 stars is because the guy serving at the bar didn't have any manners no please or thank you, and the dirty pots were left on the table over an hour. But apart from that you could have full marks
N. M.
Food was good, reasonably priced, excellent midweek option.
O. J.
Nice quiet pub with good food from an 'order at the bar' menu. The staff were excellent, friendly and very helpful, and my meal was delicious and very filling. They also had a fantastic buy one get one free offer on the day I visited, which was a very welcome surprise. Highly recommend. Parking was easy and it is easy to find, just a few hundred meters from the Wragby road / Lincoln bypass roundabout.
J. H.
Lovely family friendly pub. Cosy atmosphere and great service!
K. B.
I find the location pleasant and the staff are very helpful and interact well with customers especially Anna. We do get a bit frustrated about short notice menu changes but we realise that is not the staffs fault. We are regular visitors to the venue
L. T.
Great deals on meals for mid week. Inexpensive to eat out here.
L. D.
It was the first time we visited stAff we’re welcomeing food was very tasty good table service the waitress Anna was kind we will be visiting again give ya food 100% so delicious pudding we’re spot on Lisa and Shirley
D. R.
Nice pub but they took kids playing area down outside 🙄!!
c. f.
Nice place ,coke was flat but they gave us new ones.food was lovely defo go again xx
j. b.
There was a good selection of meals.
The outside seating area was good, with lots of space.
C. K.
Friendly staff, great service and lovely food. It was perfect.
P. P.
First time, very impressed. Took my mother for lunch, could not fault the food. Ordered a tonic water for mum, £2.50 for Fever Tree, bottle open before you can say anything.
G. R.
Mr & Mrs David Rowe would like to complement the chef/ chefs and all the working staff on Christmas day 2021at the poacher pub. You all did your selves proud today excellent food well manned staff. I have given you full 5 golden stars in my review. Merry Christmas to you all and a happy new year. Love from Dave & Gina x
P. P.
We had a lovely meal with 2 friends.Staff were friendly and helpful. The menu had lots of choice. We received our meal very quickly and hot.Tables were well spaced out and there was a jolly feeling. The only downside was the capachino was weak and watery. We would go again but not have coffee.
K. D.
Typical road house type pub. Food is ok - cheap and cheerful. Spacious.
M. G.
They have a specific gluten free menu and an allergy one. Fantastic. Staff were lovely and friendly.
I. l.
Excellent service, friendly helpful staff, and a great choice of lager
M. W.
Service excellent. Food was very good. Happy to recommend.
A. S.
Average food quality and service from a Marston pub
M. L.
Nathan was a star, food was very good too, very busy place
S. C.
Always have a good meal here. It arrives quickly and is always warm. Good service especially from Sam who is always very friendly and accommodating
.
A. T.
The staff were very friendly and helpful even though they were run of their feet
A. S.
Nice pub, ample parking we arrived a little early for lunch but they didn't knock us back, they said they would find out how soon we could order. After about 5mins we were told they were ready even though it was still 15min before their regular service time. Food was nice arrived fairly quickly every thing was spot on. Great place.
Would recommend if you are looking for a quick lunch on the East side of Lincoln
J. G.
Called in on Monday 9th May returning from a girlie weekend, staff were very friendly & welcoming and the food was amazing
I. S.
We had booked a table. We arrived on time and were shown straight to our table. We ordered our food at the bar. We did not have to wait for it to be brought to our table. The quality of the food was very good. Excellent value for money. We will go there again.
D. M.
Really good food and reasonably priced drinks! Have to order at the bar. The mega meals are particularly good - I had the chili burger and it was incredible! Good value on food.
T. S.
Was a decent carvery..just was a little disapointed at the lack choice that would normally come with a carvery .the pepsi was very flat .the pudding was lovely and reason why its a 3 star
N. S.
Was served by a wonderful young woman called, she complimented me on my fade, one thing led to another, now I'm digging up gold with a spade.
N. A.
Lyla was great! Really nice food and good service
G. H.
Had to queue at bar to order food and drinks. That took about 10 minutes. Told 30 minutes wait for food. When food arrived both burger meals were missing onion rings and relish. Didn’t order other drinks or sweets as not prepared to queue at bar. Took grandchildren for a meal and wanted to spend time with them, not queuing! Cannot think of any other restaurant where queue at till to order food, but can think of cafes where you do this. Set the tone for the pub. Noisy and rowdy with the effects of excessive alcohol consumption evident. Not a pleasant family experience.
J. H.
Lovely atmosphere nice food lovely staff
T. B.
Pub needs good refurb looking very old and untidy the toilets are all broke and doors don’t lock / glasses were dirty - hardly anything available on menu as grill broke again
C. A.
Wish they had more options for coffee and tea. Would be great if they catered for those of us who are lactose or diary free
B. R.
Been a few times as moved to the area very good carvery staff very helpful
R. M.
Great value for money with well cooked, traditional pub menu. Chips and skinny fries are amazing.
Pudding portions can be very large! We had a great Rockie Road Sundae tonight.
Gary the barman, can always be relied on to welcome you with a warm smile.
c. p.
The food was good served lovely by Andy and the barman Gary was also lovely .but the manager Darren was rude could not get the order right and was just generally making the place atmospheric and disorganized ,they had a new server a young girl who was also rude to public and giving attitude to people who said they had not had their main yet so did not want the pudding she was giving them she then tuttied and rolled her eyes,it was apparently her first day!!!!
J. o.
Meal was lovely well cooked will be booking again
N. F.
Food is always good staff are friendly
R. O. D.
Great food, drink and service.
Will come again!
S. E.
Very friendly staff, easy to order and make payment, tables clean and tidy lovely atmosphere just a little background music. Plenty of parking spaces, food piping hot and plenty of it on the plate.
P. C.
After a day's shopping an excellent place to get some Grub and unwind. Good food well priced.
J. S.
Excellent from arriving to leaving. A friendly greeting upon arrival for lunch today & was even given a better table without asking to be moved! Food fantastic. Arrived in good time and was hot & fresh tasting. Service efficient, fast & friendly. Excellent value for money. Felt covid safe, well organised, spacious, airy & comfortable. Will be returning for sure.
J. Y.
Great food and value for money. Both the bar staff and waitresses were lovely, friendly and helpful….made our evening
J. W.
Excellent service and food I would recommend to anyone
J. J. P.
Nice food, nice surroundings, good beers and good staff.
S. K.
The last night was spot on. The poacher always does good food at a great price, last night though the food was cooked to perfection and a light and day to the normal food. Whoever their chef is they need to give them a pay rise.
H. Y.
Great staff welcome and lovely table to sit at. Good service at the bar and swift food service.
R. B.
The bar staff were friendly and very hilarious, we had a good laugh about diet Bier Moretti!
B. L.
The meat was very nice but the vegetables was very hard 😫 and I was waiting 15 minutes for my apple pie, and still no def coffee.
M. H.
Nice meal in a nice outside area with good service
S. N.
The whole lunchtime experience was really enjoyable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The meal was value for the price paid. The selection on the menu covered most people's tastes. We had the lunchtime light menu with a added starter or sweet for a extra £2.00. So two of us had apple pie and icecream and the other person had apple pie and custard. Adequate portions. The only thing I had to ask for was a fork to go with the spoon for the dessert. You cannot chase a big ball of icecream round your plate with a large spoon. All deserts should have a desert fork. But definitely value for money and excellent service from the staff. Plus Covid safe.
s. h.
Great food. Did find some plastic in my meal but didn't want to make a fuss about it at the time , but it's an observation. Didn't kill me!!! Place was safe and good. Staff presence.
I.
A fantastic place to eat and drink the food is lovely and the carvery is the best iv had. we come every Sunday without fail the staff are friendly and will help you with anything
J. T.
Very nice pub food , quick service
D. W.
Standard food and drinks. Good pub quiz night.
M. C.
After a long day of surveying we stopped in for a drink. I was tired, and have no recollection of what was going on outside of the conversation, but the pint was good. Would recommend (the pint)
A. M.
Absolutely amazing staff. Food was lovely too
D. M.
Food was phenomenal. Staff was on point and very personable.
Highly recommend!
A. B.
Excellent service, meal brilliant, great place.
S. H.
Had a lovely meal here. Staff were nice and friendly. Food was reasonably priced.
A. K.
We had a good meal there for five of us , From starter to main was a bit of a wait but when the main came it was worth the wait
K. G.
Lovely pub. Friendly staff, good selection on the menu for both food and drink, good sized beer garden with a kids play area too. Great place for a sunny afternoon.
C. M.
Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch, food was delicious, could have done with more chips, but that's probably just me. The way everything is set out, plenty of room, kids catered for, and the staff were polite, friendly and helpful, couldn't fault at all. Would definitely recommend and would definitely come back.
R. S.
Lovely meal. Nice venue
L. O.
The foods brill & the staff are really friendly
A. L.
Could b cleaner. Staff to be dressed as such. Better signage !!
w. l.
Wanted a quiet pint but there was to many screaming children running around and shouting. They should be at home or at school catching up on the learning that these creatures have missed during covid. I worked all through all of the lock downs with very little down time. Now I have two day's off and can not even enjoy a quiet pint
D. H.
The food is very good. The service is good nice place to go to eat
G. R.
Gd food and happy and friendly staff
L. C.
Not very good with special request orders. Nice and helpful staff. Good prices
S. T.
Always in 2minds about the Poacher but the food is pretty good and reasonable. Great for a mid week treat out.
G. M.
Great food , friendly service and not waiting too long
R. S.
Tried to get a pint but was asked for ID (I’m a 48 year old man) when I offered to show a picture of my ID the bar staff responded with “you can have a picture of a pint”
M. l.
My new local and I'm so happy to have it the staff are so accommodating play area is brilliant for the children and reasonably priced meals for all
R. S.
Good scran, nice beer garden, friendly staff - especially big man Sam
J. C.
Rocked up with 15 mins to go and they accommodated a group of 10 with superbly cooked food and drinks. Very friendly and chatty staff. Will visit again
S. W.
Had a lovely evening including some very tasty food which arrived piping hot. Good service, friendly staff and very helpful with my daughter's food allergies. Can thoroughly recommend.
L. C.
Do a brilliant deal at lunch, 1, 2 or 3 courses. Good value and tasty with it. We go quite often.
Gone downhill recently, taken the item I usually have off the lunchtime special menu. I had Ham and eggs instead, not a pleasant experience!
C. W.
Had a lovely meal long wait for desert
R. B.
A party of 4 of us went on the spur of the moment for a meal. This pub / eateries was in between our homes so that's why we chose it. A fairly quiet night but very warm. We all enjoyed our meal just having a main course. Typical pub grub. The only negative was the toilets which needed a good clean. It was fine as a local occasional place to go.
J. W.
Good atmosphere. Good food reasonably priced. Soft drinks a bit expensive.
B. N.
The landlord who was in need of his relaxing bath was an absolute delight. The food was very tasty and very affordable. I wholeheartedly recommend this place for either a drink or meal.
(hope you got your relaxing bath eventually and that your staff stop phoning in sick lol)
J. B.
Had a lovely carvery, very good value for money, will be back to try other food on the menu!
D. B.
Nowt special, that goes for decor and staff. It wouldn't be my first port off call but I would have half a mild if passing.
G. S.
Decent pub for families, outdoor area is great for little ones. Food is petty basic but serves its purpose. Indoor kids area could be improved a lot.
W. D.
Quick and friendly service, good value for money with the lunchtime menu.
S. P.
Excellent service great customer relations staff helpful and polite
K. R.
Visited today with partner and mother, all enjoyed starters - breaded mushrooms & garlic bread & potato wedges.
Followed by 3 standard sunday lunches, Turkey and Beef...
Everything was gorgeous.
Thank you to all staff
S. R.
We have given up! We used to really like the pub but over the past few months it has gone steadily downhill. We went in tonight for the last time voluntarily (we are going with a pre-booked party tomorrow).
We ordered baked potato and tuna with green leaves. It was rubbish - the potato was microwaved and soggy skinned and we had less than a half a tin of tuna each ( I know because I use tuna a lot and I know how far a tin goes). Two mouthfuls and it was gone off the potato. The butter packet had melted and then reset in the fridge - you know what that looks like!
The 'green leaves' wasn't - it was ONE green leaf chopped up - how much does a bit of salad cost? I know that too, and I'm sure I'm not on my own!
I had to remove the items from the table so the girl would clean it all instead of wiping around them - hate that!
The serving staff have always been great, especially the ones we came to know well when the pub was managed properly. It needs some serious work and I cannot recommend highly enough that you DON'T GO THERE!
The food wasn't poor or fair - it was ****.
J. B.
We haven't been here for quite a while as the last time we went the food wasn't very good, several others I know said the same. Recently I was told that it had improved so we decided to call and we were not disappointed. The food was very good and service was friendly and quick so we will be returning.
S. T.
Enjoyed our lunchtime snacks but noticed the doors in cloakrooms need painting.Carpet in Ladies wearing.Barman was very friendly made us laugh. My husband had an all day breakfast. My daughter and I had potato skins I had garlic bread and my daughter had nachos. All very nice
E. S.
Olivia was so polite and helpful
L. F.
good prices would recommend the the crisp chicken bbq melt for only £5.45
J. W.
Good priced, decent quality food. But what really made the experience was the staff, there was a great sense of fun in the pub, and the staff engaged or whole party in conversation, right from toddlers to overs. Look forward to going back
M. C.
Typical pub chain establishment, enjoyed a very good mid week lunch, excellent food good portion, will be going again.
a. h.
Great food and good service
S. W.
Spacious place, lovely outdoor beer garden. Food reasonable priced and fast service. Friendly staff
g. c.
We all ate from the sandwich/baguette part of the menu and everything was very good. Nice crispy chips and good service too
S. R.
My husband and I called for a meal whilst passing through Lincoln the staff were very friendly and helpful. I am coeliac and therefore need gluten free they had a separate menu which was quite extensive the food was lovely and piping hot. Would highly recommend
v. k.
Little bit disappointed with selection and amount of meat you get when i went for largest carvery. 1pm only two meats left. Half of the slice fell apart so the chef didn't bother picking it up and putting on my plate. Hence half of each slice was a waste of my money. No potato. No cranberry sauce. In fact there were only peas and cauliflower on desk. Rest was on backlog. It was a busy day for the place so i did not complain but this is not first time either. I guess next time i should go in earlier to avoid disappointment.
B. R.
Bar was understaffed, and the long queue to get a pint is ridiculous. Can't be that hard to have a separate till for food orders only, or make food online orders only.
M. R.
Sunday carvery is okay for the price but could be a lot better. Roasties and veg aren't all that good I'm afraid. Had other meals there though and they've been fine.
S.
Had a lovely meal here. Can recommend the curry. Made really welcome, we will be back
B. L.
Just stopped for a quick meal - staff were great; friendly and talkative. Food didn't take too long to come out and wasn't badly priced. Unfortunately, it wasn't the best quality (had the Old MacDonald Burger), but was tasty enough I guess.
Wouldn't go out of my way to go back, although I'd quite like a crack at the mixed grill!
t. f.
Very polite & friendly staff, didn't have to wait long for food, don't get harrasst my staff like some places really nice food highly recommend
p. m.
Had a party there they where amazing thank u to all the staff for letting us put this on xx
D. C.
Called in for a lunchtime pint with a group of friends, we arrived at about 11:30 am. There was plenty of space in the car park and not many people in building.
There was a good selection of beers and largers on draft available. We were served quickly and there was plenty of comfortable seating to chose from.
We didn't try any of the food on offer so can't comment on that or rate it. However, by the time we left, about 12:30, there were quite a few people in the resteraunt section so clearly a popular place for lunch.
We had a pleasant hour there and enjoyed our drinks.
C. D.
Positives: Clean pleasant environment, nicely cooked food and reasonable variety on menu for a fair price.
Negatives: Practically all meat/burgers and some fish on menu, but no vegetarian dishes. Not very clean cutlery.
t. w.
Nice pub good food and drinks. Reasonable prices
R. A.
Good food friendly bar staff, they made a mistake as we paid for 3 onion rings as an addition to our meal for a pound extra, none was initially provided, remedied with two onion rings, still not what we paid for but at least a resolution of some sort.
A. A.
Food was really good at a reasonable price. Very good pub.
R. C.
Steak was nice. Found the lady serving behind the bar a little abrupt. Wasn't overly busy for the amount of staff working and the manager sat chatting to friends/ customers throughout out stay.
T. N.
Food wasn't great, ordered the beer battered fish and chips which was described on the menu as 'hearty' and 'hand battered'. What arrived was 2 average sized battered fillets that looked like they'd been bought from Iceland. Food was quite cheap to be fair, tasted OK just wasn't at all like it was advertised.
M. H.
Nice meal,quick and friendly service
J. A.
Nice pub ... entertainment for children
S. W.
Staff great, service great, called in for carvery, only had beef, had to wait for joint to finish cooking, no yorkies, rushing more veg out which was bearly cooked, beef almost raw and full of gristle. Not nice, but have had much better there.
L. B.
Me and my wife eat out here quite a lot. It's a typical half pub, half eating place, but the two tend to be pretty separated off from eachother. The food is always great for the price as well as the drinks - although for some reason they only ever seem to have Pepsi Max and not Diet...
S. P.
We visit here when visiting family in the area. Had issues in the past which was sorted out through conversations with the manager. Normally food is OK. Was nice today apart from the portion sizes. My dad had the mini fish and chips from the lunchtime menu. My partner ordered the beer battered fish from the normal menu... The both came and were both exactly the same size!!! And the lettuce on my stater was more brown than green.. So I left it anyway
A. P.
Pretty grim. Service was diabolical - one person on bar doing all the food orders and serving drinks whilst 3 waitresses stood around nattering with (apparently) nothing to do. Food arrived quickly once you'd endured the bar fiasco, but was at best average for a cheap outlet - gravy was watery bisto, chips not right, peas nuked to bullet like consistency, pie was soggy in a way that is consistent with microwave reheating. Once plates dumped on the table there was no further interaction with staff who all seemed inexperienced, untrained and disinterested. The pub itself is quite tidy but the gents loos are a sight for sore eyes - a 1970's throwback or at least they smelt like that was when the cleaner died! I shan't be back.
L. C.
Great value food and the veggie burger is one of the best I've tasted and I've been a vegetarian for over 30 years now.
M. T.
Brilliant place to go for a drink and or a good meal disabled friendly, family friendly plus excellent beer garden and play areas indoor and outdoor for children they also have covered areas in the beer garden for smokers too . I really do enjoy going there for a meal and a glass of wine every so often with the family or just with my partner.
D. S. T. P.
Brilliant for sunday carvery and dessert as you can see from my photo of family and friends. If you have room for one. Portions are large. Very reasonably priced too.
J. P.
Friendly clean choice of food and very cheap ..sadly some of the food was too chicken pie ...so much pastry and 5 tiny bits of 'chicken '?
.other wise ok
j. w.
The food was above average. But the outside at the front let the place down. I would have liked it to be more tidier and with no rubbish left lying around and the paint work inside was filthy other wise it would have had more stars from me.
S. K.
Their lunch menu, 12 until 5 pm is great value for money, (not sure if it's week days only) Two courses for just over £5. Enjoyed the meal.
T. L.
There was 40 plus in our party and the staff were excellent. The food all came out on time they did not get any of our order wrong. The food was excellent
B. W.
Long wait for cold food/missing items despite pre ordering. Wasn't the best experience for somewhere that is normally alright.
J. C.
Can't comment on the starter as I didn't have one (saved myself for dessert), main course of Turkey dinner was good but dessert of bread and butter pudding was a huge let down. Two of us had this, neither ate it, it was more like a Bakewell tart as it was almond flavour sponge (possibly a slice of bread on top), jam in the middle, almond flakes to the top and all sat in a bowl of custard. The atmosphere was good as was the company.
L. A.
Staff are friendly. Good for a cheap meal as plenty provided. Ideal for nights out with lads prior to going out but I wouldn't bring my family here for an important celebration. Plenty of parking and the place is always clean.
S. R. C.
Beautiful pub inside and out. Atmosphere is great. Service lovely and outside is really well done too. Lots of seating areas. Got good deals on too.
R. W.
Food was good. However, it seemed under staffed.
R. S.
Good food , very tasty
Surroundings run down outside and sticky tables
A. H.
The food was very good and the Sunday carvery at £12 for two people was excellent value. Staff were efficient but not enough of them so service a bit slow at times.
C. B.
Very nice & tasty food. The steak was just cooked to perfection. The desert was just lovely. The pub was very hygienic and staff were welcoming.
D. O.
Food and service excellent.
Building is tired and not really very clean
M. W.
Food incredibly especially Sunday lunch. Staff really friendly. Would have been 5 star Only 1 thing downside is when its is always busy you sometimes struggle for a table at peak times.
S. S.
Sunday carvery was very good value and very good food, carvery only on from 12 til 5 peak time appeared to be between 1 and half 2, I booked a table for 2 and it was busy but slowly getting quieter by 3 it was nice and quiet. As well as good food the atmosphere was good too.
A. H.
Had a big family meal there and staff was fantastic from start to finish, very helpful and polite. Food was standard but good price. Would definitely reccomend.
A. T.
Wonderful visit to the boozer, received wonderful service, especially from Samuel Cowan, he’s the real MVP
K. K.
Never had a bad experience here. Lovely food and friendly staff.
M. F.
Great value meal.
M. H.
Amazing service, as always, from the very enthusiastic barman Lucas
T. R.
Fast service and great value for money
M. C.
Lovely atmosphere. Kind and friendly staff, keen to help and wonderful customer service. Food was very tasty and flavoursome, very speedy food with no compromise in quality. Well done xx I will be back
P. B.
First visit...had a meal and a drink. Chips were great but the shepherds pie was a bit overheated so dried out on the edges. My partners meal came without naan bread but extra poppadums instead which he didnt want so he asked for a few chips instead and they obliged. Would revisit.
M. M. W.
We went to the Poacher 7 times between July and August and in the first week of September .We are not big eaters so we had a main course and pudding off the Golden greats menu. We got through all the mains and desserts on the menu during that time and all the meals were hot and tasty. The portion size just suits us. The only gripe was that 2 of us had a fish dish and one portion was bigger and fuller than another but not a problem! The staff are always friendly and as we go about 1.30pm the pub is gradually getting less busy. Go at between 12-1pm and the place is buzzing and busy and the car park nearly full. The proof of the pudding is in the eating and the busyness of the venue it's best critic.
In the summer we took our grandchildren and we sat outside and ate and the children played whilst waiting for their meals. We plan to take the family there again soon.
B. T.
Large beer garden area with food served at the table
Reasonable chain (Marstons) menu
Good beer and drink selection
Large car park
u.
Ordered a burger and some lemonade. It took AT LEAST half an hour to actually get to our table, but the food was good. They also gave out free water.
B. W.
Have eaten here on a number of occasions including a work Christmas lunch and always found the food and service to be excellent. Staff are lovely and friendly and polite. Environment was warm and welcoming.
F. C.
Had the vegan burger which was very good and the drinks were good too, staff were attentive
S. L.
Very nice food and hot BUT no Deff coffee 😒and very helpful and friendly 👍
R. E.
Great food and good prices, nice choice on the menu with set different days and offers, if you come before 5 you can get 2 course for just over a fiver. Has good bar choices and separate kids area and kids play area outside, just outside main lincoln too so better for traffic if you coming from skeg direction. Really nice find thanks
S. W.
Nice friendly pub, good quality food, service always good, they also have nice garden aswell
S. C.
Lovely food, friendly service :)
C.
Really nice pub with a good friendly atmosphere. Came here for a carvery with my family, there was a bit of a wait for the food but when we got the front the service was fast and it was quiet tasty.
T. S.

J. K. (. K.
Great food, service with a smile.
Well worth the visit, would highly recommend.
d. h.
The overall experience was good and the food was very nice but had a long wait of nearly an hour for our order even though the place did not look that busy
P. S.
Nice cosy atmosphere, food was good too and service was excellent
A. S.
Nicely cooked food, good atmosphere.
p. m.
Very slow table staff , waited nearly an hour for our meals ,then I had to go & ask for our desserts
H. H.
Amazing food, lovely welcoming staff, Cant really ask for more then that :)
H. J.
Drinks are fairly cheap and it has some ok pub grub to go with it, but nothing that is above average food wise. Good for a 'I cant be bothered to cook' weekday evening.
L. H.
Friendly Local! Foods lovely, service is fab and running smoothly with current conditions.
c.
Three of us went today. 15/4/18, for Sunday Lunch.
Nice warm welcome from the staff who were very attentive. We all had the Roast Beef which was beautifully cooked and fell apart when cut. Served with Yorkshire pudding and a delicious gravy along with roast and boiled potatoes, carrots, broccoli, cabbage and braised red cabbage. The beef was from Lincolnshire Red beef cattle. It was superb.
Puddings were devine. I had the Sticky Toffee pudding with ice-cream and jug og caramel sauce. My wife had the peanut icream tart with caramel sauce and father in law had lemon cheesecake with berries.
All the food was home cooked.
Thoroughly recommend the Sunday lunches and we're going back to try the evening meals. Mmmmm
M. T.
Well organised for safety. Good food at reasonable prices. Friendly staff.
T. D.
Lovely food, excellent service. Definitely recommend.
J. A.
Great food at reasonable prices. Service can be a bit slow when busy. Would be nice to see the staff smiling.
N. S.
Friday special is
Fish & chips or
Scampi chips & tartare sauce
We ordered Scampi
It came with no tartare sauce so we asked for some but they came back & said sorry we ran out . If we knew they had no tartare sauce We would have had fish & chips instead , that's if they haven't ran out of fish
3 times we been on a Fri fish special & twice they ran out of tartare sauce & once they ran out of fish , who ever orders the fish & tartare sauce needs to get there act together
There's 3 supermarkets in walking distance come on get a grip
We enjoyed the food but we took r own tartare sauce lol
K. D.

K. G.
Lovely staff, great food, excellent approach to covid measures, no problems parking. 😊
m. p.
No baked beans for the All Day Breakfast, Fried eggs were overdone, sausages were deep fried. On the plus, The Combo Side was good, and The Dirty Chilli Cheeseburger was enjoyable.
R. J.
Good atmosphere. Good menu.
Slightly small chicken portion.
N. A.
Nice outside spaces and beer OK but food a bit rubbish. Carvery was frozen veg and roast potatoes and not particularly nice.
W. S.
Burger was half cremated, generally mid range fast food with little quality. Bar service so, so just acceptable , no one falling over themselves to please.
c. t.
Meal was good but limited ,covid rules were adhered to staff friendly and helpful
a. b.

F. J.
The food basic so ok but decor isn't updated. It always looks dark and dingy. Curtain hanging of, toilet seat broken in ladies loos
G. H.
Very good food in a very pleasant atmosphere
K. O.
Its a nice local pub albeit part of a chain, the drinks are ok and resonably priced, the bar staffa are quite jolly
The food on its day is ok but in my experience a bit hit and miss on quality, some days its better that others
Ok if your pasing and want a quick pit stop
T.
Lovely lunchtime meal deal, you see need the pudding, which is a good size as the main is quite small (Which I suppose should be expected), quick to deliver but slow to clear
A. O.
It's nice atmosphere, however, sometimes there are something's on the menu that are not available. The food is ok but then the prices reflect that
D. L.
More restaurant than pub, but they still have a bar and gambling machines. Average food but reasonably priced, normally plenty of seating and staff that try to remain helpful even when busy.
S. D.
We go to the poacher to eat a lot the food is always well prepared and hot. We also enjoy the quiz on a Wednesday night. Would recommend to others
L. R.
It was out door dining x very good heated table x food was so good x
J. G.
Nice food! Good portions. Was very busy but we weren't waiting long
T.
The food and service is good. The food IS pub grub so if you expecting a gastro-pub you'd be disappointed. But it is reasonably priced pub grub with decent service.
C. W.

H. W.
Tired decor but the food was good we were a party of 6 and all agreed everyone enjoyed their meal, not enough staff, they were rushed off their feet.
J. S.
Very disappointed that there was only gammon. 45 minute wait for the beef to be ready which would have been my choice. Good selection of vegetables though.
P. S.
A good varied menu and food is lovely. Plenty of seating availible and good selection of drinks at bar.
k. j.

Carvery good but not many choices of beers. Loads of seating inside and out quiet during the week but gets very busy at weekends
K. S.
First time having a carvery, not a good experience, 2 slices of beef but 1 was inedible just thick sinew, veg looked nice but had no taste, nice yorkshire pud, not good as we eat here regular
A. W.
It's a Marston's pub. The beer's good, service is friendly, the wifi work's and the food was cheap and cheerful. If you expect a gourmet curry for a fiver...
L. W.
Had the carvery. It was ok. Limited choice compared to some places but decent grub for the money to be fair
L. G.
Good service didn't have to wait to long from ordering my food to receiving it, my food was cooked ok to a standard. But you get what you pay for.
T. S.
unfortunately the man taking the order was quite grumpy with us as if taking the order was quite a hassle for him, long day I guess.
Will come back and try again as there usually pretty good.
