j. s.What a find. I'm touring the uk on a motorcycle and this place was recommended by my accomadation. Most importantly the ale is superb. Tonight had a music pub quiz. Not blasting out you can't hear yourself think. Just perfect even though I wasn't taking part. Bar staff were engaging. Made to feel welcome. Highly recommend.
A. S.A pub I often like to call in on when in Lincoln as they have a few flat ciders on and good chip butties. Unfortunately they are no longer doing food but still a nice pub to pop in after a walk around the castle
S. B.I found the Victoria a charming pub, old school pub. A good outside terrace in the lee of the castle walls, I found the bottled beer well priced, the bar staff friendly and helpful and the general atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable.

It's nice to see a pub that doesn't rely on gambling machines, televisions on every wall and loud music to be a place where people will keep coming back to. Lovely to see staff that look like they're enjoying themselves at work too! Would visit again!

B.After walking visiting family through a few of Lincoln's more tourist hot spots and pubs, this was definitely not a tourist pub, but we wanted something more authentic with a decent choice of beers, and we got it. The manager was happy to offer a replacement beer after the one I was served tasted a little off. I know this happens frequently with ales so wasnt surprised, but the attitude of the manager was excellent, very understanding and knowledgeable about his beers. A bit drab after the tourist pubs, but it kinda adds character and is used by seemingly local folk. Friendly and welcoming. Other staff were helpful and friendly too. Well done!

B. P.After a short spell of serious concerns that the Vic was going rapidly downhill we dared to visit again and I am pleased to report that things are back to normal. A good selection of great beer, a decent atmosphere and staff with personality who seem to care. Well done to the new landlord, long may it continue.
R. S.Great little bar in a lovely location. The staff are both helpful and welcoming. We visited to try a pop up burger stall outside called MeatCastles and the bar allowed us to eat the food inside. Will visit again.

Social distancing measures in place, including table service (service fairly quick). Reasonal range of drinks on offer, all well prices. Ample outdoor seating, separated into smoking and non-smoking. Toilets are currently operating a one in, one out system.
Areas for improvement:
Toilet system is not entirely effective (possibly as the walls are so crowded with posters that punters fail to spot the social distancing signage). Would benefit from outdoor heaters. No free parking available (loads of pay and display parking available immediately next to the pub).

Just one thing to clear up about the mystery bench you can't sit on.
My theory is you can't sit on because it has signs on it asking you not to sit so therefore the signs are in the way of any sitting down attempts. Logical really!
L. W.This is a proper pub. Excellent real beers on tap, a decent selection of wines and spirits. Good pub food too. The bar staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Fabulous atmosphere and there is live music too occasionally.

K. H.Great little bar. Many years since I've been in so good to see it still on the go in this era of pubs closing down! What was even better was that the Harvest Pale ale was still on tap!
A. R.It is in need of an upgrade. The seats are a mess. The layout poor.The toilets are awful. However we go 2 or 3 times a week with other locals. £4.40 pint of Thatchers. £4.10 pint Fosters. £4 for pint Landlords. Good choice of guest beers. Neil is the manager and he does a great job. Food is very good.
R. N.Excellent food, the chips are wonderful. My daughter and I went for lunch, even though we were quite late, they were happy to serve us.
The staff were polite but not over friendly and left us to talk which was great. It was strange to see the decor the same as in my youth, it added to the ambience strangely.

S. C.This pub has sadly gone downhill. It's saving grace is the fact they serve Pilsner Urquell and you can sit outside. The whole place needs a bit of tlc. It was great when they had a play area for kids and I would suggest to the management that they look into this again. It will always be a regular haunt of mine due to the location (stunning view of the castle wall) and nostalgia but I can't give it more than 3 stars.

Good selection of tasty real ale and decent lager (if you like that sort of thing) and somewhere you can have a natter with like minded folk without having your eardrums shattered by loud music - unless you go when they have live music on! They do a pub quiz too.

They don't do pudding, but there's plenty of sweets and Tuck Shop sweets by all accounts.
Nice cosy snug, very warm and a very dog friendly pub too.
Plan to visit there again, as we're staying just down the road.
