Had lunch here today with a friend and the staff were so lovely and helpful. The lady who served us was particularly friendly and never stopped working. If she wasn't serving she was cleaning up but always had time and a smile for customers. Food was nice. The onion rings could have done with cooking a little bit longer and we would have ordered a side of fries if we had known that you only got a very small portion with your meal but overall it was tasty. I think dogs are only allowed outside so would take them with me if it's a nice day but will definitely come again.

Just visited here for Sunday lunch and it was absolutely delicious! We visit here often and would rather travel 30 minutes to visit and eat here. On todays visit, we booked last minute and was greeted by Dalton! He was so welcoming and took us to our table and recommend us a dish of the specials menu! Which my partner ordered - and can confirm it was delicious and cooked to perfection! We did have to wait a little while for the food - as it was a very busy Sunday afternoon but the staff couldn’t be apologetic enough and when the food did arrive it WAS definitely worth waiting for! Dalton looked after us during all our visit, he was so welcoming and an asset to the team - he also stated there was a new kitchen manager well the food was amazing! Especially the roast dinner… hospitality staff don’t get appreciated enough. We look forward to visiting again soon… Thank you.

Me and my husband nipped into Bear and Staff yesterday evening, for a quick bite to eat. We were looked after by a lady called Lisa, who I have to say, we were beyond impressed by! She had such a high level of customer service, was bubbly, smiley and had good knowledge of the menu. It was a pleasure being served by her. Thank you Lisa! You were really great :-)

Lovely beer garden, nicely kept and peaceful. Staff are lovely and attentive. Food was ok, vegan burger patty was charcoal around the outside and soup didn't taste nice enough to finish. Partner had no issues with chicken burger ☺️

Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff in a newly refurbished and very nice looking place. Food was awesome, packed with flavour and well presented. Belly pork just melted in the mouth and the chips were lovely and hot with a nice crunch. Good dessert selection too, we had the sharing dessert which was like the mains, well presented and packed full of flavour. Nice pint as well. Social distancing measures all in place and very clear. Highly recommended. We would definitely go again.

We visited on 26th July for lunch and had a great time! It was quite busy and I only saw 2 members of staff on, but it didn't phase them, they both had plenty of time for us and didn't feel rushed at all! Thank you very much, we'll be back!

Been a while since my last visit so went for lunch with my wife. Pleasantly surprised, very clean and well laid out dining area. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Food (Chicken burger for me scampi for the wife) served pretty quickly and piping hot. Would certainly recommend a visit and we will be going back.

The pub is lovely and the staff were friendly but unfortunately the food wasn't as good as we had hoped. We ordered 2 burgers and a steak and ale pie. The burgers were quite dry with hardly any cheese and the bun was quite hard. There was only 2 pieces of steak in the pie so pretty disappointing.

The staff are so lovely. However, my starters was cold and my daughter didn't get all of what it said for her starter initially. My main come out and that was cold too and the side was burned. The staff changed the whole meal and gave extras of the side. The staff couldn't do enough for us, especially Toni.

Things could improve hopefully lovely place to eat nice atmosphere. Think there was not enough staff on ordered 2 fillet steak only had one left can understand as there was an offer on. Steak knife was not dried properly - kept having to wipe it - fully of water! Think the staff need a bit more training. Did have to wait over 50 minutes for the meal to be served again down to not enough staff.

Went for my mother in law's birthday and half the stuff on the menu wasn't available? My wife's Vegan so when she ordered the vegan burger they came over 10 minutes later saying they never had the vegan burger bun for her burger so she was served just the burger and a side salad for the inconvenience. Certain steaks were not available so we had to keep on changing our mind when choosing what we were having.

The staff we’re all so lovely, we were running late and no other pubs would serve us, however one member of staff named Rachel got us in quick and easy despite them closing the kitchen, she got us in for food and drinks and all of it was beautiful! Under Staffed, but probably deliberately to save on wages. Service was ok ish, but very slow. 3 out of 4 orders were wrong. No salad, wrong peas, no tartare sauce etc. Food was acceptable for a pub, but fell well short of restaurant quality. After receiving food, there was no interaction with the serving staff, how is your food, would you like anything else etc. Would I return? Probably for a beer..

Had a meal with family yesterday. The waiting staff were really friendly and helpful but the menu was let down by shortages. The mushroom on sourdough starter came on a slice of Warburtons. No sourdough left. The fillet steak ordered was unavailable, as was the sirloin. The chunky cut chips had run out. And so it went on. I felt sorry for the waitresses who had to keep coming back to offer alternatives, but surely they should have been told at the start of service what was actually available, and not use Covid as an excuse for short deliveries. The evening was let down but we made the best of it. Oh, and my wine glass was dirty as well!!

Don't be persuaded not to go....my wife and myself were there today for lunch and this place is a hidden gem in South Liverpool...I'm originally from Wales and pride myself on good old pub classics...the bear and staff was amazing.....I had the lamb shoulder and it was similar if not better than the lamb I have in wales. service was outstanding and very professional.a touch of class in the place aswell..staff were attentive and polite...we normally go to the black bull?? Not anymore... highly recommended from a welsh man who knows his food...

The bear and staff pub/restaurant is really good if you want a relaxing informal evening or lunch. The food is very good and the service is very attentive. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the other good thing is that there is a pub attached there is a very big car park as well. The prices are very competitive as well. Give it a go.

Needs better signage for wheelchair access, as access is at the rear of the property, so arrival at the front by car is unclear if unfamiliar with pub. One of our party had to go into pub, leaving wheelchair retired lady outside , then we trooped around the rear. We like this pub chain, so think this is a local oversight. went on Wednesday this week for my birthday with my sister. The food was really lovely. But before I left had to go to the ladies it was a dreadful experience, toilet seat broken, one of the doors would not open and the last one I can not put it into words?? I did tell the waitress and she was very shocked, her reply was cleaner has been in this morning. Come on Bear and Staff try and get these things sorted out. But I will hopefully be back.

The staff are very friendly but the place needs a complete upgrade. The toilets are clean but are falling apart. We didn't eat there so its not fair to comment on the food but the last time we were in there it was rammed this time on a Saturday night it was almost empty. We love the building and the area and we hope it will improve.

Part of the Chef and Brewer group, The Bear and Staff provides good food at reasonable prices. Service can often be slow so not the place to go to if you are looking for a quick lunch/dinner. Suits us though as we like a leisurely meal out. Nice place for a pre Christmas meal too.

Myself and my family dined here on Saturday 14 October as always the staff are very friendly and attentive I ordered prawn cocktail and one of my son's ordered Welsh rarebit ,the prawn cocktail was drenched in prawn cocktail sauce (in my opinion shop bought) and very overwhelming plenty prawns and one piece of lettuce,my son's Welsh rarebit consisted toasted bread with a small amount of melted cheese , although the rest of our party's starters and all are main meal were enjoyable it put a damper on the occasion and will have second thoughts as to whether we visit here again.

Went on 15th December 2016. First the good point The steaks were perfect. Now the bad points:- Got the starters wrong, 0ne soup too many which were all luke warm just and daughters chicken starter was missing.When it did arrive the small salad on the plate: I wouldnt even give to a rabbit (obviously been there a while and underneath it was an old centre of a lettuce..The mains, onion rings were luke warm as were the sliced tomato and my other daughters veg with the fish pie.Deserts:- My rhubarb was missing orange and ginger compote, my wifes gooseberries were hard and my daughters hot chocolate didnt arrive until we reminded ( they didnt charge for it because it was so late).The cheese board was perfect. Bill and card machine produced at same time so didnt get chance to check the bill.Later on checked bill and they charged me for the extra soup which we didnt order. Disappointed

A friend and I, with our dogs do a long walk and we walked to Gateacre from Kirkdale along the ralla, got to Gateacre and started to rain and we stopped at the Bear & Staff cos they have covered outside space, so we were served outside by the courteous waiting staff, though it was raining and enjoyed a lovely coffee and tea and 2 lovely servings of tasty bread and oil, we carried on our way when the rain stopped managing to keep dry and continued our walk to South parkway for train back to Sandhills😏
