Reviews of Bishops Finger
D. S.
Very traditional, attractive-looking pub to the west of the southern entrance to Smithfield Market. Well kept Shepherd Neame ales and premium spirits. Traditional pub grub made with quality ingredients, including a range of market sausages. Great location and friendly staff.
London hospitality is currently struggling a little in these post COVID-19 times, particularly on Mondays and Fridays when people prefer to work from home. Places like this deserve our support. “Use them or lose them.” This would be a very sad loss.

🍺 £5.40 Amstel
❤️ A great relaxing boozer just a stones throw from Smithfield Market.
.
My Son and I visited here as part of pre game crawl on the way to see the Arsenal. The pub is a five minute walk from Farringdon station and you get the added bonus of walking through beautiful Smithfield Market. This is a @shepherdneame pub, which normally means a good selection of beer and food await you. There were four cask ales on offer at the time of visiting and a reasonably priced food menu with ingredients sourced from across the road at Smithfield. The pub was fairly quiet which was in part due to Boris asking for things to be scaled back, the place should have been packed with office workers from the surrounding area. Having said that, this was a relaxing place to have a pint in and the atmosphere was great. The decor here is traditional with lots of pictures, photos and some pub of the year awards adorning the walls, the Christmas tree and decorations were up which made the pub feel very cosy.
.
The Bishops Finger is a solid market pub offering a traditional London pub experience. The pub is not open on weekends so be sure to come pay them a visit midweek.

My favorite place to go in the City. Food is amazing, word of a choosy Italian! Crew members lovely, smiling and always kind. I couldn't recommend this pub more! Must try believe me.
B. P.
Classic pub in the heart of the city. What you see is what you get! Good selection from the tap, great sausage and mash lunch/dinner options (as well as other pub food and sandwiches etc).
D. T.
Great pub but slightly cramped bar. Some beer is expensive and some reasonable for central London check before you order. A good selection of real rather than "craft" ale.
D. T.
A lovely traditional pub right next door to Smithfield Market, great beer and a good wine list. Loads of food on offer at very reasonable prices. Lovely efficient staff, a pleasant place for a pint!
D. S.
Another pub in London I've wandered past a few times while working solo in London. Good choice...got a seat....bonus! The decent beer and fab food. Loved the sausage and mash...with the ability to choose from a selection of sausages all sourced from Smithfield. Banger heaven!
C. H.
Unfortunately Bishop’s Finger ale wasn’t available. The Spitfire was an excellent substitute.
It’s a real London pub, so pay a visit, drink beer and eat sausages!

We chose the pub based on the good reviews. We were there for 2 hours and it was already late. There was not much going on at this time but we were surprised by the very attentive staff. I had a friend who drank a bit too much, even helped us with a couple of glasses of water and a coffee from the nearest coffee house. Got the possibility of a photo at the beer pump which made the visit there perfect.
And the conversations with the owners were also very entertaining and of course I got a perfectly drafted Guinness.
Clear recommendation!

Had some drinks with friends here after visiting the Charterhouse. Friendly service and a nice calm place to drink outside.
Shame black cab drivers use the Rotunda as a urinal at night.
R. L.
Had a staff lunch at very short notice and they coped admirably. Decent boozer in the evening.
M. C.
Beautiful pub! Fantastic Guinness and a lovely friendly land lady! Will pop in again soon. Thanks
M. S.
It's a modestly sized pub, right by Smithfield market. As you would expect from a Shepherds Neame pub they have good ale (also good lager, cider, etc). This pub benefits from friendly and efficient staff, which always helps. Finally, don't overlook the food - if you eat meat they do a lovely set of mixed sausages fresh from London's main meat market. Well worth a visit if flash and glitter matter less to you than a comfortable, happy boozer
A. C.
Cracking pub with great beer.Didnt eat but the menu looks good.
M. P.
Great English classical food and excellent knowledgeable and efficient staff.
It's my go to pub for a drink, lunch with friends and clients alike.
G. J.
Very nice "City" pub in Smithfield. Compact and can get crowded on the ground floor. There is some room upstairs though. Polite staff. Great selection of ales and I'm told the cider and house wines were worth having too.
F. D.
Good, old fashioned city pub.
y. p.
excellent visit yesterday, great selection of beers and the veggie and non veggie sausage, mash, onions and peas were top notch
R. P.
Excellent beer, good food and a lovely feel for a central pub. The room upstairs is also very good for events and workshops. If you miss out on getting food there is always the 24 hour greasy spoon next door
T. M.
A great traditional pub in the heart of the City. Friendly staff and good beers.
A. D.
I liked the ambience a lot.. reminded me of some vintage items.its a traditional British pub. The service was very good and friendly .
Fish and chips was the item I ordered and I liked it.the tartar sauce was also very good.
There is a pub downstairs and restaurant upstairs . The menu list was short and sweet
T. S.
Nice pub, good selection of beer and really nice looking sausages. Good service and friendly staff. A couple of tasty alcohol free beers would be amazing.
A. S.
Possibly best pub in London. Plenty of Bishops Finger and Shepherd Neame memorabilia scattered around. Serves the World's best beer. Food's good. Staff are excellent. It's even named after the World's best beer. What more could you want? A pub cat, perhaps. They don't have a pub cat.
J. H.
Went with five friends. We were well looked after by attentive staff in upstairs room. Good selection of food, including vegetarian options. Would recommend and will go back when in the area.
E. O.
visit here all the time, the landlady has a brilliant character, always remembers your face and makes you welcome, brilliant staff, fast, efficient and friendly. gorgeous christmas deco also!! this is my favourite pub in the area!! must visit!
J. M.
Relatively small, but homely pub right next to Smithfield market. Gets busy once people leave work at 5pm. Good collection of Shepherd Neame beers and friendly bar staff. Function room available upstairs.
E. G.
Absolutely lovely pub. 😍
T. W.
Pretty standard quite pub, the bar staff are nice and friendly. Good choice of a quite pint at lunch or after work, but nothing really standout about this place. They have Samual Adams, Oranjeboom & Guinness on tap .
M. T.
An interesting pub close to Smithfield Market. Easy to reach by tube from Farringdon or by 46 bus. A great choice of beers and good food. There is also a large function room upstairs.
R. C.
Busy pub with a vibrant atmosphere. Guinness, Spitfire, Asahi on tap, about £5 a pint. Bar staff efficient and friendly.
Hard to find a space early on this Friday night, but by 7pm it started to open up a bit.
Near Farringdon or Barbican stations.
Also near to spot where William Wallace met his grisly end...Freedom!
D. B.
Typical London pub, good beer, people, location, crack, what else do you need?
J. G.
Went here on a Wednesday night so can't say much. Seemed like a nice pub. The barmaids had a row with each other so it was a bit awkward but it was still a pretty decent pub
J. C.
I like this pub. Good beer and reasonably priced food. Staff are friendly 👍
L. C.
Decent pub and good service, suffers a little from being in the shade much of the time but that's not a problem in the evening. Nice big venue space upstairs.
G.
Mixture of Bankers, Solicitor, Barristers and Doctors tend to use this Pub. Staff are excellent as well. Very Civilised and Safe Pub. Room to stand outside in better weather, as most do.
R. J. R.
Great pub. Popped in for a couple of drinks before heading out for dinner. Fast service and a great atmosphere.
H. H.
Good selection of beers & nice sized pub. Food was poor and o wouldn't eat here again
S. P.
One of my favourite pubs. Staff are cheerful and hard-working with the pub itself in an interesting and scenic part of London. (Plus it puts up with us gaming upstairs from time to time.)
R. T.
Great pub, good beer and one of the few places you'll get a seat near Farringdon on a Friday afternoon
T. B.
It is surprisingly quiet in the evening, perhaps because it serves the Smithfield folks earlier on. It is possible to catch the last rays of the sun outside, and there are even a few tables there. Food options are limited and salted a bit too much.
C. M.
Small enough pub, but the better for it, a cosy kind of place. The staff are very efficient, much better than most city establishments.
A. M.
Late afternoon/early evening beer with colleagues. Good range of beers; interesting traditional city pub snacks and what looked like a good english pub fare menu
Z. G.
Awesome pub right in the middle of the city with great selection of drinks and incredible service! Keep it up guys 🙃
B.
Very cool pub. Would appreciate a wider cider offerings, but then again that's my beef with most of the pubs. Clean loos.
A. A.
If you're alone and have a hankering for an ale and a pie then BLIMEY you could do worse I tell ye!
No patronising 'aww are you all alone you little loser?' vibes from the staff, which was a relief, I swear!
And don't even get me started on that penicillin mould on the sandwiches, got rid of my chest infection in one bite!
P. F.
Absolutely superb, the staff are so friendly & landlady is on the ball.
Good beers & good standards.
Shame about the city workers that can't control them selfs.
P. T.
Small quieter pub just off the main stretches of Holborn Viaduct or Smithfield. Good if you want to get away from the crowds for a pint or two.
K. J.
A classic pub serving Shepherd Neame ales. Beer was in good condition despite the walk balmy day. Well worth a visit

(Translated) Pleasant environment, cozy pub with a good selection of beers. Here you can relax from the city noise and enjoy the golden drink. I highly recommend a really nice place and when a good party is here, it's great 👍👍👍.
I highly recommend.

Príjemné prostredie, útulná krčmička s dobrým výberom pív. Dobre si tu viete oddýchnúť od mestského hluku a v pohode si tu vychutnáte zlatý mok. Fakt príjemné miesto vrelo odporúčam a keď sa tu zíde dobrá partička je to super 👍👍👍.
Vrelo odporúčam.
