My wife and I visited twice during our stay at the Conrad St. James. The venison, juniper, & red wine pie was Devine! The British Gosnell Mead was also a great choice to try.

I've been here a few times as its near my husband's work in London. The service is always great and the staff are so nice, nothing is too much trouble. They do delicious food in the pub, there's also a restaurant in the back but we haven't tried this yet, it does looks really nice too. Last time I was there was NYE pre drinks before a late dinner elsewhere. Even though they were busy their service never lacked. It's in a prime location by St James's park, about a 10min walk from Victoria Station and only a couple mins from St James's Station. Great atmosphere, great drinks, delicious food, try it!

One of the more civilised places to have a drink of an evening. Excellent table service, a good selection of ales and spirits, and a calm and pleasant ambience in which to unwind. Food is also excellent, as befits the neighbouring hotel. Thoroughly recommended.

I've made it a bit of a tradition to come here each time I stay in London since I love it so much. The design of the pub is very classy and atmospheric, the menu provides a nice variety of meals, both full meals and lighter lunches, they have a large drinks menu and I must say the desserts are great too!! The staff are very friendly and helpful and the location of the pub is ideal for onward travel and to reach the river for an after dinner walk!

We went there for a quick bite and had a wonderful experience. We had the corn chowder, sausage roll, and sticky toffee pudding. The ketchup and roll were so good and the sticky toffee pudding was the best I've ever had--and I've tried a lot of them. My partner and I stayed at The Conrad using a gift voucher purchased for us. Part of the deal was dinner at The Blue Boar Pub. The food was good but I just found the customer service lacking. It was not busy - not even half full, and there were enough serving staff but my partner was supposed to get a vegetable side dish with what he ordered which did not come. When the food was bought out, we did tell the gentlemen we were waiting for the vegetables and he said he would chase them up. They never came! I also had to chase twice for a drink I ordered. We also did not get the wine included with the meal. We did overhear a couple next to us getting the wrong mixers with their drinks (the wrong way round) I don’t know if after Covid people are little bit our of their normal service standards as our entire weekend in London was a disappointment in terms of service. We are not demanding people and I don’t mind asking for something but I do expect someone to then deal with the request. Food was good enough but not somewhere I would rush to return to.

We were staying at the Hub hotel, which is practically next door so we chose to eat here based on location. Nice interior and the staff were friendly and the uniforms very smart. Food was tasty and reasonable portions. We had the beef and Guinness pie and the Rib burger. Visit if staying near by.

There was an awkward sense that we didn't belong here, there was a glance of our attire and a look which suggested we'd be more comfortable at a Burger King down the road. After the initial awkwardness, the service was exemplary but they didn't ask at any stage whether I wanted the service they were providing. A glass got put in front of me with ice and a slice, which I didn't want, then my Coke was poured into the glass which I didn't want, but I was appreciative of the attention to service. The food itself was alright, the patty was well seasoned but overcooked, the bun was over crisped, and the onions were under caramelised. The surroundings were quiet and comfortable, the food was meh, the company was excellent, but I think in future I'll leave it to the city folk to enjoy.

It took about 15 minutes and some serious eye contact before I was approached by a waiter. The restaurant wasn't really that busy, and numerous waiters had passed by multiple times before someone stopped by with a menu. The inside of the restaurant is cozy and there are some really comfortable dining areas around the inside perimeter of the restaurant. The food was good and the portions were great. Even as an American, though, I felt inclined not to offer a tip to the waitress given the poor service. Don't worry, they received their money through the added service charge.

The toasted rye (on a grill with too much butter/grease) overpowered the rest of the sandwich. Even my own on-the-spot mixture of ketchup, mayo and ground pepper couldn't bring it back...😕 Prices are moderate to a bit high. Good people watching location though..!

The whole place has a chilled and classy vibe to it, very reminiscent of a classic Gentlemens club but with a modern feel. Food was good but small portions given & a tad pricey for some items. I was blown away by the price of an ordinary cup of tea at the end of our meal at £5! Bizarre ... But, overall, a nice experience with good, civilized atmosphere and not too noisy.

This restaurant is absolutely amazing. My husband and I have sat on the bar side of the blue boar for the past two nights. The staff is beyond fantastic (it’s probably the best crew we have encountered our entire vacation. George was our waiter both nights and he was amazing). The seating is comfortable and cozy. But most of all the food, is fantastic. Especially the fried chicken bar bites. I am from Kentucky and yes as cliche as it is, I know chicken! It’s spicy, tender, and breaded so well. 5+++ stars.

The beef carpaccio here had me in such a state of joy that my other half started to go from amused to a bit worried about me. It looked absolutely wonderful so to find it tasted even better was a very nice surprise. Highly highly recommended. Himself had the soup. They always do this funny thing with soup here where they present you with a bowl with some little nubbins of whatever in it (in this case leeks) and then pour the soup into the bowl in front of you. It’s a bit of food theatre and the soup itself was basically a bowl of hot runny hollandaise with a hint of leek and potato (might not sound it but that is a compliment) Now for mains I made the mistake of ordering a salad because i wasn’t sure how hungry I was. Don’t bother with them. I went for the mackerel salad and found maybe 5 tiny flakes of mackerel scattered throughout it. But I realised later that the salads do actually serve a purpose. They’re there to give the Melanias and Naomis something to push around a plate without having to worry about having to eat any actual food. I found a layer of very odd stuff that looked, tasted and felt half cooked wild rice. Avoid. But it was my bad for ordering badly I guess. Cos himself had the pork belly and a couple of sides and he looked like he was making love to his dinner rather than eating it, it was so good. He rated the side of marmite cauliflower. I didn’t. I loved the sweet potato though. He was too ruined after that for pudding so I had cacao bean brûlée. It was perfectly acceptable apart from looking a bit silly but then all the deserts here do. The woman next to us had apple pie that looked like it belonged behind glass in the Tate Modern. The nicest thing of all in this place (apart from the carpaccio) is the staff. They make you feel incredibly welcome and at ease very quickly. Have you ever seen that Pedro Almodovar film I’m so excited! (The one on the plane). They’re a bit like the crew except not drunk and really nice. And the place itself is ever so cosy and comfortable. Let’s just say this place is not cheap, but it’s not insanely expensive either. I’ll go back and order a proper main course next time.

Chesterfield sofas, tartan cushions,and dark, dark decor in the bar give this a real gentleman's club feel, not to mention the amount of gentlemen wearing suits that occupied those chesterfields. Still, those sofas made a great place for a relaxed business meeting (we could really spread out), and the menu and drinks list is extensive. Cocktails were the expected hotel prices, but definitely offered something different (rhubarb and champagne anyone?). We went for the blue boar burger as a main, which was tasty and hit the spot. The accompanying fries were nothing special, however. Service is charming, if a little slow. We had to resort to much hand waving on more than one occasion. But, if you're not in a hurry, it's not really a problem. Loos are lovely too!

Blue Boar Smokehouse has a pretty solid rep on the London BBQ circuit, having had a great showing at Ribstock 2013. Based on the name, you'd be forgiven for conjuring up mental images of US-style bbq joints best defined by the raw wood tables, copious amounts of kitchen towel in the place of napkins/table cloths, and large men tucking into even larger trays of meat. Yes that's right, come stateside and you can order your meat by the weight and have it served on a tray which doubles as your plate. Instead, BBS takes BBQ to a whole new level of posh-ness with an elegant dining room, impeccable staff, and food worthy of a fine dining title. I've been twice, both time for their epic brunch although it's changed recently. The first time there was a appetiser buffet and a separate dessert buffet, plus you got a main course included for the £35 price tag. Add that on to the bottomless Buck's Fizz (a poor man's mimosa) and the unlimited Bloody Mary bar, and you've got an feast to rival the kings of old. My second visit was slight different as the appetiser bar was replaced by a shorter menu of starters. However, I actually preferred this as you got to try out some excellent dishes and you still left stuffed. The duel of ribs was delicious with BBS's signature smoky and spicy wet rubbed ribs making me salivate just thinking about devouring the tender flesh that fell of the bone. My main, the BBS roast, was cooked medium rare which meant plenty of bloody juicy meat and some sweet roasted root veggies. The dessert bar was beautiful to behold and even better to eat. And while you are gorging yourself like a contender for one of the seven deadly sins, you can relax to the dulcet tones of the live singer who can pretty much play any song (and takes requests). He strikes a great balance between entertaining music and relaxing background noise providing just enough to cover awkward silences while not blocking out conversation. All in all, a great place for a date or to impress the family.

We've been on a number of evening meals at the Blue Boar, and loved every one! The cocktail menu is constantly evolving with the 'Cocktails of the Month' section which keeps us experimenting. The menu offers a variety of options that appeal to me, and I expect I'll work through them all before too long! The ribs are available as either a starter or a main course on the a la carte menu, and wherever they sit in your meal they deserve to be in there somewhere (and that's without mentioning the bar's 'Rib of the Month' option). I've also tried and adored the Slow Cooked Rabbit & Lobster starter, and enjoyed the 'DIY' pulled lamb shoulder meal (where you get buns, coleslaw, baked beans and pickles to assemble your perfect lambwich)! Typically we are too full for dessert, but what dessert I've had I remember fondly. The Mini Praline Doughnuts were exceptional! I look forward to going again, and I am now a happy member of the Blue Boar Club!
